Tl*the contact owns a 2002 dodge ram 1500. in warm weather conditions, the air conditioner system becomes inoperative. also, in cold weather conditions, the defroster does not work properly. the failure causes impaired visibility in inclement weather and could result in a crash. the dealer stated that the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign id number 03v078000 (steering:column). the contact would have to install a wiring harness overlay at the cost of $800. the vehicle has not been repaired. the manufacturer referred him to the dealer. the failure mileage was 71,000 and current mileage was 88,000.
The 2002 dodge ram 1500 slt was bought in 2006. 2 months later, the rear end had to be replaced. no warranty. (2000.00 out of pocket). six months later, the front end went out. (2083.00 out of pocket). no more problems until 6 months ago. had to replace all wheel bearings and brakes ( 1500.00 out of pocket) now, my mechanic says that the brakes and front suspension has to be replaced(another 2300.00 out of pocket) this truck has never been taken off-road. it has been very well taken care of. dodge has been notified,no response. how can they expect us to keep buying their vehicles, when they can't or won't tell us what is going on? i have not received a recall for any of the things that have happened. *tr
Cd/cassette clock radio - clock gains time; must be reset once evey 2 months
I am now in the process of having the rack and pinion replaced for the second time. the first time the rack and pinion went out and this time was during driving the vehicle in four wheel drive in the snow. the first occurance was at 40,000 miles when we had 6 inches of snow and this time was at 114,000 miles in 8 inches of snow. this vehicle is how i make a living and is not used for recreational off roading. the damage to the rack and pinion occured during regular four wheel driving on city streets. *ak
Prior to taking delivery of the vehicle the battery was replaced. after several times of service for headlight failures, won't jump start, replaced battery, 7 mo. later. after several other attempts was informed of need wiring harness due to after market replacement of headlamp. replaced headlamps to factory and 3rd dead battery. i have invested $1100 since the second dead battery. dealer says battery has nothing to do with electrical wiring harness???? most occurances during extended warranty period. *ak

Sunday morning, i started my truck. the truck warmed up for nearly 30 minutes prior to my trek home. i then drove the truck for nearly 90 minutes prior to reaching interstate 95 in houlton. when i started driving, the temp was _x0013_16. when i entered the interstate, i set my cruise control to 85. after traveling for nearly 80 minutes, my truck rapidly accelerated without warning. i tapped my brakes in an attempt to disengage the cruise control. this did not work. i then pushed the cruise control buttons on my steering wheel, in an attempt to turn off the cruise. this did not work either. i pushed on the accelerator thinking that it was stuck. this made no difference. the truck was accelerating without warning or reason. my truck accelerated to 95 mph, and was continuing to climb. i had to do the following in order to get my truck stopped. i had to force the brakes on, which was the not very productive. i was able to slow the truck to 65 mph before placing the truck into neutral. after placing the truck into neutral, the engine raced out of control. the tachometer was maxed out. the engine stalled, as i rolled to a stop. after collecting my self and attempting to calm my wife down, i started the truck up. the accelerator was still stuck and the tachometer was past 7000 before i could get the truck shut off. i started the truck three more times and the above still occurred. i then slowly pushed the accelerator to the floor a couple of times with the truck, off. i then started the truck and pushed the accelerator to the floor. the truck then came out of what ever was going on. outside temp 0. this really concerns me. this was a very scary event, and thankfully we were on the interstate in remote northern maine. if this occurred in or around rural maine it would have and could have been fatal. *jb william smith 18 fern way rockport, maine [email protected]

The jack that is shipped with the dodge ram 1500 is way too small to handle the parge truck. i had to change a tire today for the first time. the vehicle fell off of the jack twice. the jack is a small cylinder type, with a small footprint. while jacking the rear wheel according to the instructions in the user manual, the jack slips easily because a) it has a small footprint that remains in contact with the ground, and b) the extentions used to turn the cranking mechanism on the jack are wobbly, which can cause the jack to move while raising and lowering. i researched this with several other dodge ram owners, each who have purchased separate heavy duty jacks to allocate for the insufficient standard jack that ships with the vehicle. i contact daimlerchrysler today about this issue. *ak
