In may of 1995 i purchased a new neon sport coup, on october of 1998 my head gasket was leaking oil. i asked them if this should be happening to a car as new as mine and they told me no. chrysler agreed to pay half of the cost for a new head gasket on my car. i also asked if i would be back in another 2 years to replace the new head gasket that they had replaced and they syated "no". i am now back a yea and a half later with the same problem. i called chrysler again and they agreeed to pay half again. now it is 3 weeks after i have had my head gasket replaced and i now have oil coming out of my radiator and they are not sure what is wrong so they are keeping my car over the weekend to try to figure it out. i also have had this car in for a bad cig. liter, weather striping on my left door, loose window (twice and it is still not right), and other problems. i feel like i am stck with a lemon. i have already put out over $3,000 in repares on this car. *ak

My car has had a problem with overheating since i had it; but the service department at the dealership wpuld always say it was the thermostat when it wasn't. i changed the thermostat three times with the same problem. when the warranty ran out, i was told all these problems with the car that was existing before it ran out that would have been covered. the car has been leaking oil and smoking under the hood ( not exhaust valves) but i am told the head gasket blew out, and that this happened with alot of neons. also the rear main seal leaks right around 60k miles which is when i started having oil problems. my car overheats in warm weather ,mostly when i am stopped at a light or in traffic and i have to cut the heat on until i start moving. i thought it was a fan malfunctioning, but again, the service department said it was the thermostat, which it wasn't. this has been happening since i had the car. if this happens with alot of neons i think this should be remedied by the manufacturer. *ak

The vehicle has been returned to ron's automotive numerous times. the airbag light, check engine light, turn signals were corrected. it know that the problem with the check engine light prevented us from giving a warning that there was a problem with the engine. all problems appear to go hand in hand. from the information i have obtained over the last 24 hours it appears that this vehicle has numerous defectives which can cause a serious accident. fortunately in this case no one was injured. this particular car must be a lemon. i would like to find out if it was returned to the original dearship under the lemon law.

Within the last 8 months a/c compressor went out; the speed control surged, worked intermittently then stopped functioning; the left rear abs wheel speed sensor failed causing the system to work intermittently; the engine head gasket blew and my rear window blew out and shattered when i closed the door during 00f weather. presently i have had no response from the manufacturer stating the technicality of "out of warranty" "nothing we can do" deaf ears. i would greatly appreciate any assistance or suggestions on how i can proceed to recover some of my costs for repairing so many items that have failed within a short period of time.

I had the head gasket go out on my neon within one year of owning it. i know have the head gasket leaking again, and i'm told that i have not driven over 35,000 miles since the first replacemen.t i should call and complain. when i did i find out from a chrysler dealership here in kansas city that they have seen alot of neon's come in for this problem. i refuse to put out this kind of money on a car that i'm still paying on, especially when this was replaced a short time ago. i feel neon's are a piece of junk!! i have nothing good to say about dodge ,and i hope i can discourage anyone from buying one. i also found out that this should be a recalled part because of the high demand of replacements. i work very hard to make my monthly payments so that should tell you that i do not have spare change sitting around for expensive repairs. i found out from my mechanic that it will cost about $150 in parts and $685 dollars in labor to have this fixed. i called and complained to chrysler, and they gave me a file number of 5515266. i now have to take my car to another place, and wait for the dealership to come back and tell me exactly what my mechanic told me today in order to get help. i was so mad that i was visibly shaken while on the phone to chrysler. i hope that there are people out there that are in my situation, and together we can tell the world to stay away from dodge neons!!!!! *ak

Since the purchase of my neon in may '95, i have had nothing but costly problems. this past year, alone, the repair, towing, and car rental expenses have exceeded $5000.00. this car is costing me a fortune to maintain, as these are major components that are malfunctioning. the items i have registered complaints on are just a few of the items i am having problems with. in just over a year, i have had to have a head gasket replaced, my air compressor seized, almost resulting in a fire, my throttle body had to be replaced, they still can't determine why my brakes squeal constantly. although i have heard that this, among other things, is a very common and dangerous problem with the '95 neons. my my engine controller had to be supposedly updated, my engine skips, but the dealer says nothing is wrong with it. my warning lights don't work, with these problems, you would think that you would have some kind of warning. and now, i have had to replace gear shift cables, and as of yesterday, i had a clutch cable snap which may have caused transmission damage. i have been told that the clutch cable has been updated 3 times for the '95 neon because of problems with it, i will be investigating this further. my air compressor has malfunctioned twice since i have had the car, as well as the evaporator. for what it has cost me to repair this car, because chrysler refuses to admit fault, although it is obvious that this model and year is a lemon, i could be driving a mercedes benz!! i have never been so disappointed in a vehicle as i am with this neon! and obviously i am certainly not the only person with constant problems and astronomical repair costs being incurred. it is quite obvious by this database that there are many other people who are in the same boat i am in. chrysler has made not only a poor product, but also a dangerous product. i can't believe that they would knowingly sell a vehicle to so many people with the problems that the neon has had. thieves!
On august 27, 1997, vehicle was in for yearly inspection when dealership noticed oil leak. supposedly head gasket needed repair and this job was done. vehicle needed relay repair in on march 23, 1999 and $150 of unauthorized diagnostics was performed. no problem was found. in august 1999, vehicle began with oil leak again. car was parked until february 2000 when private repair man diagnosed head gasket leak and valve cover gasket leak. chrysler was once again notified. information provided to us states that this is an ongoing problem with 1995 neons and we've all ready sunk too much money into this car for multiple repairs. car is presently parked again!! *ak
