Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 1995 Dodge Neon

Driver looked in the rear and saw smoke coming from truck area, electrical short, will provide more information. *ak

Was at work and looked outside saw smoke, went out to vehicle to see if lights were on, opened the door and the car was in smoke. the lights were not on, the fire dept had to come and put the fire out. *ak

While parked an electrical short in the wiring in the steering column caused the steering column to smoke. *ak

When driving the vehicle made a squeaky noise. rotors have been replaced at least twice on each side. the brakes have been replaced 4 times. *ak brakes have had a lot of work, brakes have been adjusted and cleaned, brake pads have been replaced 3 times, rotors have been replaced 2 times, calipers have been replaced, brakes have excessive wear. throttle body clogged, causing vehicle to hesitate. battery was replaced due to being weak. check engine light has illuminated. *slc

Wiring harness burned and the automatic door locks locked passenger in vehicle. took vehicle in for repair but did not get work done because it was out of warranty. *ak

Several electrical wiring problems and failures on vehicle since ownership,

Soft brakes, master cylinder replaced.

Driving vehicle when suddenly smelled fumes, noticed smoke coming from under hood, checked gauge, vehicle running hot, then tire rubber disappeared off rim. *ak

Idle air control module failed. *sd

Vehicle parked in parking lot left lights on smoke came from steering column, resulting in fire underneath the dash. *ak

Whenever turning the steering wheel either left or right, it would make a clunking, popping noise. the sway bar went out. also, was informed the by the mechanic that power steering rack/ coil, and engine head gasket need replacing. *ak

Frayed electrical ground wiring located by electrical motors in drivers door. *ak

Electrical failures on several occasions causing lights, dashboard and radio to fail.

Headlights were on and flickered. sometimes car fluttered/ lost power. consumer took vehicle to dealer, and he could not find anything. while driving again smoke came from the cracks of the dash/airbag compartment and vents. smoke filled the car up, and driver was not able to see, or breath. there was an electrical problem. no heat/ rear defroster, or blinkers. also, when turn on the signals, consumer would hear a buzzing sound, and blinkers would not work. only thing that worked was the radio on the dashboard. *ak

Computer chip failure. *ak

While driving for a long period of time with cruise control activated, the vehicle will stall and be stuck in cruise control, which may cause an accident. dealer replaced fuel pump/spark plugs, etc. dealer cannot determine the problem. please provide further information. *ak

Spark plugs failed.

Traveling 40-50 mph during rainy weather vehicle totally shut down, resulting in loss of steering control. dlr unable to locate problem.*ak

Automatic transmission failure, vehicle stalls when driving, replaced transmission but it continues to malfunction, transmisison does not engage. tt

Vehicle stalls out while driving at any mph, dealer sais they can't fix it until the vehicle breaks down totally. *ak

Vehicle stalls out at any speed, with and without cruise control on. tt dealership replaced fuel pump and vehicle seems to be operating okay, however prior to consumer purchasing vehicle, fuel pump was replaced before 453 miles were on vehicle. *slc

Head lights failed.

Vehicle stalls while driving, dealer replaced relay cutoff switch. tt

Consumer was driving and the car shut down there was no power . *ak

The steering column caught on fire. please explain. tt

Electrical short or shock the headlights do not come on. *ak

Engine would not shut off, also there was an engine compartment fire, unknown source of fire. tt
