I have been reading about my issue all too often online and have yet to see any resolution at all. i have a 2012 dodge journey and honestly it is scary driving it! the car actually shuts off in the middle of the road without warning. the issue it keeps showing is a crank sensor code. the sensor has been replaced 3 times now! it is also not an easy job since on an all wheel drive model, there are many hours involved to replace it. but if you're on the highway and driving normally the car will die at any moments notice and give no warning. seems like there are many many others having the same issue. if you do a quick search and type dodge journey dies while driving you will easily find many people with same issue. many people spending their hard earned money on repairs that get them nowhere! this really is sad and dodge has done nothing to help except continue to put peoples lives at risk and taking their money for repairs! please help! i have been having this issue over 30 times in the past few months! the car is not safe to drive

I have had my speed censor and wheel bearing repaired twice very closely together and it now needs done again. my abs, traction, and awd lights are all on. when they are all on, i have no traction at all and slide all over the place. it is very unsafe and i feel like my car is a death trap. i have put over $10,000 into my car in less than 3 years for unnecessary maintenance.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge journey. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start after multiple attempts. upon exiting the vehicle, the contact attempted to remove her child from the vehicle, but neither of the rear doors would open on either side. the doors also failed to open from inside the vehicle. the contact called suburban ford of sterling heights (40333 van dyke ave, sterling heights, mi 48313, (586) 268-7500), but no assistance was offered. the contact then called ray laethem chrysler dodge jeep ram (18001 mack ave, detroit, mi 48224, (313) 884-7210) and was instructed on how to remove her child out of vehicle. the manufacturer had not been notified of the failure. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

My dash message says key fob battery low. sometimes it says key not detected and i can not start the car. at other times the fob won't unlock the car.i have changed key fob batteries and that does not solve the problem. this problem happens when i try to start the car after it has been parked and i return.

I was driving my car yesterday when the battery light came on and in the process of trying to get it back home everything in the car started shutting off and then the car started stalling while i was on the road i barely made it into a gas station before the car died and had it towed to triple a repair shop to have a diagnostics done on the car which has now been stated to me that its the alternator and ive only had the car 3 months bought it used but the battery went bad and now the alternator in less then 2 months of each other along with the actuator also clicking when the alternator went out. all of this happening in a short amount of time. when the car started dying all the electrical lights went off the brakes the abs the air bags everything and this was on a busy road during rush hour traffic. i barely got my car to a safe location and that was only because my husband was following behind me in his car. this problem made it extremely difficult to break at red lights and get my car moving thru the intersection to the gas station. and the car light was on about 15 minutes maybe before it finally stalled out the car.

Anti-lock brake system (abs) control module. there's was a recall for our 2012 dodge journey which the previous owners took care of in oct 2015 (the month and year of recall). we purchased in 2017. a few time the abs light has come on but only for a minute or 2 since we bought it. today 8/2/2019 it came on along with the brake light and (no traction light (the swiveling car image light). we have had a lot of heavy rain. we where told by servicing station by diagnostic test it was the abs control module system malfunction. and if we did not get fixed our brakes could lock up and system freeze up. this is definitely a safety issue that was corrected in past but is now happening again. these lights came on just as we stared to drive. when the car was resting for 30 minutes and i was leaving to drive to service station the break pedal was extremely hard to push down ( break needs to be pressed with touch button start). i almost couldn't start car. the break finally softened and i was able to press down to start car. at that point the light did not come back on for 5 minutes while driving but sadly it did come back. i feel we should not have to pay to fix a problem that has come up again from a previous recall. this is a big safety concern. it was in the past and should be again.

Wiring harness exiting rear of vehicle entering into rear hatch supplying power to overhead brake light, license plate lights and hatch dome light is severed inside rubber sleeve. i currently have no lights to the rear hatch. rubber sleeve shows no sign of fatigue or failure but wires inside are severed. link is to another journey owners video of his similar issue only i have several broken wires not just one. https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=2012+rear+hatch+light+repair&view=detail&mid=396ee57beae941266444396ee57beae941266444&form=vire . dodge dealer said no open recalls. per video, problem reported to dodge 2016. i had no idea of issue until oil change /inspection today 7/20/2019. for some reason did not appear to have blown any fuses which means there is a potential for arching/fire. design/safety flaw? the overhead rear brake light was installed for a reason and should work. i would have tried to insert pictures but i do not own a camera. video link accurately depicts issue except in my case i have several severed wires. currently only the rear hatch lock works. question: attempt repair or have a mechanic replace wiring harness? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge journey. the contact stated that the abs and brake warning indicators illuminated when the vehicle was started. on one occasion, the entire instrument panel illuminated and then reset; however, the two initial warning indicators remained lit. the contact took the vehicle to arrigo dodge chrysler jeep ram west palm beach (6500 okeechobee blvd, west palm beach, fl 33411, (561) 282-1545) where it was repaired per two unknown recalls; however, the abs defect was not included in any recalls. the manufacturer was notified. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was unknown.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge journey. the contact stated that the battery would suddenly fail intermittently and the vehicle would have to be jumpstarted. the contact took the vehicle to a certified mechanic who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. the contact called dishman dodge ram chrysler jeep (located at 7700 e sprague ave, spokane, wa 99212, 509-724-0024) and was informed that the battery failed. the vehicle was not repaired and the failure continued intermittently. the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that it was a common failure with the vehicle; however, there was no permanent remedy. the vehicle had not been repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 174,000.

Yesterday, while waiting at a stop sign my 2012 journey shut off. i had no idea it had even shut off! i pressed the gas to go and the car wouldn't move. i was a little baffled because the radio was still playing. i put the car in park and pressed the ignition and the car started again. this is latest and most unsafe issue that i have experienced with this car. the radio randomly changes stations and it doesn't shut off when the car is shut off. i have to turn the radio off before i turn the car off because it will continue to play. this started about 8 months ago. the car was turned off and the drivers door was opened, but the radio kept playing. if i forget to turn it off before the ignition, i have to restart the car and let the radio play for a min or so before i can turn it off. also, the rear air suddenly comes on. when i turn it off it comes back on. if it's synced with the front air, it will randomly go to the high setting. the journey also does a jerking motion while driving. this happens on the highway or neighborhood roads too. we thought that maybe it was the transmission, but we had it checked and it's fine! after yesterday's sudden shutoff, i'm wondering if all that jerking was a sign of what was to come. the brake light has been coming on for a few weeks as well. i could be driving on a city street or highway and the break light comes on. it usually happens while driving straight, acceleration or driving at a constant speed. it happens so frequently that my kids are like, here we go again because we, our bodies, start jerking with the car. we bought this car brand new at the end of 2011. i loved it at first, but now i'm afraid to put my kids in it something needs to be done. there are issues with diff. model years, so if the problems are being fixed on some, it should be fixed on all. after all, the company made $ on all of them & our lives are valuable

After parking the car, going into a store and returning to the car - it would not start. the push button would not work. nothing came up on the screen. i was stranded until someone gave me a ride. afterwards, a mechanic checked the vehicle. he said that the alternator is good, the battery is good, the starter is good, all the fuses and relays are good. he said that this issue seemed to be related to a problem in the computer. i looked online and found that this is a very common problem in dodge vehicles. i have tried all of the tips that i can find online in videos and forums, but the car still won't start. i purchased this vehicle used about a month ago.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge journey. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently. napleton's northwestern chrysler jeep dodge ram (5950 n western ave, chicago, il 60659, (773) 334-3400) stated that there was an electrical failure and the battery was not successfully supplying a current to start the vehicle. the contact watched a youtube video and temporarily repaired the vehicle before going to the dealer. when the dealer saw the remedy that was performed, they did not service the vehicle. the manufacturer was contacted and referred the contact to nhtsa to file a complaint. the failure mileage was 103,620.

This vehicle has electrical issues. the doors lock automatically when the tailgate is opened. the radio and climate control come on by themselves even after turning it off multiple times. the steering makes a whining noise especially when you are turning to the left. the awd and traction control is off and the service awd light comes on. the cruise control stopped working when there was a loud "thump" in the rear end and all the traction and awd dashboard lights came on. all these problems are evident and occur while driving.

After the car has been sitting in my garage for the weekend it won't start. it says the key fob is not detected or it's so dead it won't show anything at all. i get it to start after getting jumped. it takes about 5 minutes of being hooked up before it's charged enough to start. thought it was the battery but the battery is brand new. my mechanic has checked it multiple times but can't find any issues. this is extremely frustrating!!!!!! what the heck is going on with dodge journeys???? it has happened so many times know, it's just ridiculous!

On multiple occasions over the past two or three months, my vehicle loses all power, and at same time the power steering goes out and brakes have to pushed extra hard to get them to work. this has happened when driving under 40 mph in town. it has happened most often within the first 5 minutes of starting the car, but today it happened after i had been driving 30 minutes on the highway and then in town for several minutes. it has happened when slowing down, when accelerating, or when going stable speed, as well as before a turn, after a turn, or while going straight. i have been able to pull over to side of road and stop, put car in park, and restart it. we took the car to a local car repair shop twice, and they could find nothing wrong after hooking it to their computer. the car has 87,756 miles on it. i am concerned that this is unsafe, and i'm worried it could happen at a dangerous intersection or at highway speeds.

I have had this vehicle since september 2017. i have had it in the repair shop twice for this not starting problem. it starts when it wants to. if you try and start it it can take anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours to finally decide to start. i've tried to put it in neutral to start but that don't work either!!! this car is a piece of crap that i have to continue to pay for. chrysler is wrong. they know about this problem but not enough people complain. i'm over it!!!!

This issue occurred regardless if the car was in motion or stationary. it also occurred if the motor was turned on or not. the license plate light was out, but it was not a bulb issue. the center rear brake light (on the tailgate) was out, but it was not a bulb issue. this is a safety issue. the tailgate wiper would not return to the home position when turned off. it would remain wherever it was when the switch was turned off. this was a visibility issue. the key-less entry fob would not unlock the car doors. this was not a fob battery issue. this was very problematic for passenger doors which could not be unlocked from inside or outside the car. this was brought to a dealer for repair. they diagnosed the car with having split wires in the lift gate. i am concerned that split wires could have caused a short and eventually a fire. additionally, a short could have caused other electrical systems of the car to fail while in motion.

On multiple occasions my vehicle will loose all power. if i'm going over 45 it usually restarts itself. if under 40 the steering locks up, all electrical shuts down and i cannot get hazard lights or pull over. i can throw it into neutral and hit the push-to-start and it restarts. sometimes, like at stoplights, i have had to throw it into park then restart it. there have been a few instances of it not restarting no matter what we try. through trial and error we got it to start again after serious rocking. i have noticed it happens more if the usb port or aux port are being used, although it has happened a couple of times without those being touched. has only been happening since the majority of the functions with my on-board entertainment unit went out. dealership can not diagnose, say they cannot get the problem to duplicate. i have videos of this happening but dealership has not been interested in seeing them.

I have changed my key fob 3 times and got a new battery and it still say key is not detected. i have to get a job every 3 months to get my car started.

H20 sensor when turning button to heat up car it doesnt work

When opening the back hatch, all the doors will randomly lock or unlock. the hatch light does not work. the rear window, back hatch, wiper cleaner will not work. attached is a picture of the wiring harness for the back hatch. all the wires have been cut just from regular opening and closing of the hatch due to the fact where it is located and that when the hatch is closed it bends all that wiring in half. as you can see from the picture at least 5 are completely broken and many more are almost completely cut.

Myself and my 3 young children were driving down a pretty dark highway at about 10 pm. 3 hours from home. in a storm and very heavy rain. vehicle suddenly lost power. when i gave it gas the engine just revved. lost all power including windshield wipers and power steering i quickly dropped from 75 to 40 with semis barreling up behind me as i was trying to get to a shoulder to pull off on. car died and would not restart. we were stuck on the side of the road for 5 hours with no heat and no power to the car. even callled roadside and they tried to jump it. it would start but then go haywire again. battery light and etc as well as all others lights come on. it has left me and my kids in the cold more than once. no one seems to know the problem as the battery and alternator are testing fine. vehicle is now sitting in my drive way and won't do anything. at all.

Lift gate wiring harness becomes weak and brittle causing wiring to fail. this wiring feeds all lights and functionality on the read lift gate. dealers will repair which last a short while until failure again.

While in motion on 7/25/18 the vehicle stopped running, battery light came on, radio turned off, wipers started going on, and lights dimmed. tried to restart and wouldn't showing battery light, abs light, symbol with lightning bolt, and said it could not detect key. vehicle was towed and diagnosed with code p0622, and was told i needed an alternator. replaced the alternator on 7/28/18. on 7/29/18, the car was running good, after about a half hour the battery light came on and the car slowly started to shut down while in motion with my wife and children in the car. i then replaced the battery. after driving 2 miles the battery light came on, the engine started to rev high and go low, other dash lights came on, the a/c turned hot and the car started to come to a crawl.

Wow!!!!!!!!!! is all i can say, i can't believe the amount of problems this car has. with that being said i'm hoping that since i financed this vehicle, that the finance company will help me because this dealership "clearly" sold me a lemon and i'm sure they know it is. everything electrical in my 2012 journey started surging to the point where i thought it was going die on me while driving on a highway here on vancouver island b.c. canada. i've had problems with the push button start ( sometimes 4 attempts to start it are needed ) . i really love the vehicle with the cost to repair modern days cars, i think i want to find a way to return it ( it's only been 5 months since i've had it ) . the dealership says it's probably the battery and offered to replace it so on the 27th of this month, i will take it to the dealers and try to return it all together. none of us should be having issues like this and i'm really disappointed with dodge and how they're "not" doing much to help anyone. sadly these vehicles are "lemons" and should all be recalled and junked imo. sorry to hear so many other's have problems too , just keep your roadside assist up to date lol cause i feel we're "all" going to need it eventually and who wants to be stuck in the middle of nowhere.

I was driving on very busy highway i-270 in columbus ohio my car stop on me on the highway that happens back in 2/14/2018 i started it back keep going luckily no accident occurred through that week continue doing it i take to shop get it fixed.on 7/3/2018 he started it's again am scared to drive my car that am paying for i don't know what to do he cost much last time i fixed it. his making strange noise from the dashboard often i don't know where the noise is coming from am really scared to put my family in its because that our family car

Our back-up camera goes dark frequently or flips upside down while backing up and we almost hit a childt that ran behind us suddenly. also, the vehicle won't shift into low gear when in automatic and going up hills, but shifts in manual, and it suddenly just slows down while in drive, which has caused us to almost get rear-ended several times. finally, our tire sensors show low pressure, but when we replaced them all the tire symbol still showed up. because our engine light is on, we took it in for a diagnostic. we were told the only problem is that we need a software update that would correct all these problems. we were told we would have to pay for it, but it seems it should be a recall item because of the safety issues.

Last week i was driving my car and it felt like it was going to stall at a stop sign. then the engine light came on when i started driving again. while driving on a busy highway my car just shut off. no brakes, or steering. i had 3 kids in the car 2 being toddlers. i was able to put it into park and start it again to get it off the road. this is the first time this happened to me and now i am scared to drive it. as for electrical my car randomly sometimes just changes radio stations, u connect doesn't work. when disconnecting the battery it works for about a month and you can not use it anymore.

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge journey. when the headlights were activated while the vehicle was in reverse, the interior dome light illuminated. also, the malfunction warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to tim short chrysler (located at 270 fitz gilbert rd, hazard, ky 41701, (606) 436-2277) and was informed that the failure was not included in a recall. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified. the approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

Takata recall i was driving home while at a stop light i smelt a burn odor. i was just a 1/4 of a mile from home so i drove it home. upon parking i noticed there was a small spot under my car forming. about the size of a quarter. check all my fluids and and nothing was low. the next day it started and ran ok until it was ran for about 15 then once again the smell and now a low growling. i pulled off the road and parked at a gas station. i had a local shop look at my car and they determined my transfer case is broken. i have been having issues with my car when accelerating it would pull sharply to the right when it shifted gears. was told there was nothing wrong with my car. it shouldn't try and change lanes when you accelerate. i have almost hit the car next to me just by accelerating. i have also been driving along and have my car turn off. i had to coast to the side of the road, put it in park and start it again. this has happened on four different occasions. the stalling happened on the highway while the transfer case was on city street.

My vehicle odometer would jump from 0 to 30 while in motion(foot on pedal) and vice versa. wiperblades started all on it's on without being turned on. no current is being brought to whole entire vehicle. vehicle won't turn over or lock without being hooked to another battery. can jump start but once connection is off the vehicle shuts back off. all lights flickered on and off on dash board when they never came on the 2 years i had the vehicle.

My horn does not stop honking had to remove left and right fuses to keep from honking. vehicle honks while stopped nobody in it and while driving as well. several people have complaint about this same situation online why is there no recall for this problem which is a safety issue?

The power in my vehicle went out and my breaks locked up, the car just dies. no hazards or anything. my car stopped while driving down a heavy traffic street. two cars almost hit my kids and i. the car does come back on a few seconds later or several minutes later. the longest time period was when i got the car towed to a shop saturday. once, we arrived at the shop it had come back on. this is not the first time and i fear even after we get it from the shop it will not be the last.

While driving the vehicle on a 4 lane highway the car stopped in the middle of traffic while accelerating. the vehicle had no indication/warning of its shut off. i had my child in the vehicle and could have been in a serious accident. i tried starting the vehicle again and it would not turn over. vehicle has had all required/recommended maintenance. vehicle has 140000 miles. unknown of the cause of the shut off.

My dodge while riding radio come on go off the heater turn all the way up and it want crank most time you get ready to go it just goes haywire not dependable brought a battery thought that was the problem but not

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge journey. while driving approximately 20 mph, the windshield wipers activated, the vehicle lighting suddenly illuminated, and a burning odor was present. the vehicle shut off and was towed to the dealer (simi valley dodge located in simi valley, ca) where it was diagnosed that a wire harness caught on fire and melted. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 93,000. ...updated 11/15/17 *bf updated 9/7/18*jb

The heater works great on the driverside and blows cold on the passenger side no matter what you do.autostart doesn't work when it's cold out, thought that was the point of it but guess not.makes a really loud winding noise when i starting it,also goes into gears hard most of the time. got the hard to find 225/55/19 tires on it and my brakes make a lot of noises. my front end makes a bunch of popping and grinding when turning left or right going forward or backwards, heatsheild is falling off around the driveshaft. service all wheel drive light comes on often, the park assist stopped working ,taillights flickering often, one of my fobs works when it wants to even with a new battery.driver seat is also starting to act up to having to wiggle the switch around to make it work. no one wants to fix the problems with my journey rt making me regret getting this suv i was practically forced into buying/trading it and when i went to the place of purchase a few days after getting was promised these issues fixed and i'm still waiting will not put my children in this car going to get rid of this nightmare soon as i get the chance since this so called 4star safety raiting is bs don't feel safe at all

While driving the car suddenly losses power and the stability lights and abs lights all flash. this occurs while driving on the city street and highway and turning. the shop says they do not know what is causing it. there are lots of customers on the internet with the same type of problems. this does not occur while sitting still only in motion. this has happened numerous times and when we check for codes all it says if engine misfire even though there are stability light and abs light on.

My journey doesn't want to start. according to the mechanic it's the module that doesn't read the key. we had our family vacation in baja california and we were stranded there because my 2012 dodge journey wouldn't start.

Am driving dodge journey 2012.initially the issue was intermittent but it is permanent now. all four switches are not working. when i press the switch it generates continuous clicking sound.

Dodge recall 2011-2015 2012 dodge journey purchased march 25 2017 - total loss as of april 24th 2017 engine blew during a reverse

Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge journey. while driving 50 mph, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. the contact stated the brake pedal was released and reapplied until the vehicle finally stopped. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired due to the fact that the vehicle was operating normally. several days later, while driving 40 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed as having a fuse box failure. the independent mechanic advised the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer because there was a recall; however, the dealer stated that there was no recall. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the failure mileage and vin were unknown.

Alternator is defective ruining both the batter and having to replace the alternator and battery multiple times. this has happened twice already in january 2014 and april 2015. and again now march 2017. on a road trip my wife and kids went on in the middle of the highway the vehicle suddenly lost power and almost control. she was able to pull it to the side of the road. she turned the car off completely then turned it back on and it started. the drove another hour and the battery light came on shortly after the vehicle powered off again. she the called roadside assistance and they brought it home. we had to replace the alternator and battery. the second time this happened i was able to identify the problem as to not get stranded and once again replaced the alternator and battery. the auto parts guy insured me that they had fixed the problem with the new alternators. clearly not. we just finished out 3rd replacement of both alternator and battery after a long road trip we had to buy a battery in the middle of to get home. this issue needs to be addresse. i spoke with the dodge dealership originally and they were no help and said they would have just replaced the alternator and battery as well. ## vin passed ## dodge journey 2012 ##

I was driving my suv and while driving my truck stalled and i could not turn it off for several means. the steering wheel locked up and my push start button would not let me turn it off to restart. after 10 mins it let me restart. i had it towed to a car repair shop and they can not find anything wrong . the first shop told me that my oil was mixing with my coolant and visa versa . i then took it to the main shop to have it looked at and they say it's nothing wrong. i just drop my kids off moms before this happen and i just got off the interstate, the possibility of it cutting off while my kids are in the vehicle is dangerous.
