My name is [xxx] and i am complaining about my 2009 dodge journey r/t awd. first the electrical system or wiring harness has a severe problem. it does not want to start like it should. i've been through 2 good interstate batteries in the last 2 years that have not seemed to work. next and the most dangerous is the braking system which is to small for this vehicle. from what i have researched they used a braking system from a dodge magnum(in the series 1 from 2008-2012) when it should have been used from an suv. the rotors where out after 9000 miles while the front pads go after 3000-4000 miles. leaving the back brake pads with the longest life of around 5000 miles this is with aggressive or non-aggressive driving it doesn't matter. this kind of brake and rotor wear and tear is nowadays unheard of. this kind of vehicle is unsafe and very expensive for the average american vehicle owner. these vehicles are as plain as day as much of a lemon as they come. between the electrical or ignition problems that are as plain as day and can not be fixed by your average mechanic and thousands of dollars. also the breaking system which is to small that also can't be fixed without many thousand dollars worth of parts and labor. not to mention the thousands that have already been put into these problems that did not fix for long. the only other thing that i feel that can happen is for there to be a recall by dodge. to fix the electrical-ignition problem and to have a bigger breaking system put on like they did the (series 2 journey from 2012 on till now). and the braking issues are better. so if they can do it now why can they fix the series 1. i think it's a combination of laziness and greediness with there money. pleas help my vehicle right along with the other tens of thousands who have the same problems. don't let dodge get away with this and help make these problems an active recall !! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

I ordered a new fob for my 2009 dodge journey since i only had one and it fell and broke. it cost me $257.46, which included programming. when i went to pick it up on sept 4, 2013, it would start the car but not lock or unlock the doors. i took it back the next morning. i received a call later & was told the key could not be programmed again. the dealership was on hold with chrysler for over an hour & was finally told there was an issue they were aware of with the win module. apparently it has been happening quite frequently. so much so that there was a backorder of over a month for the module! some calls were made & a module was finally sent & received on sept. 9, 2013. it was installed on sept. 10, 2013 but when i went to pick it up the fob would lock and unlock the doors, the panic button would get the lights flashing but no honking and the remote start would not work! the car did start when the fob was inputted. it cost me another $299.71 to order & install the module. in the meantime i had to borrow cars from relatives as the dealership did not provide a loaner car. i researched the win module issue on the internet and found that it is indeed an issue happening to others! i believe this should be a recall and that chrysler should reimburse me the cost of the module and installation of it plus the cost of the fob simply for the aggravation and stress of having to borrow vehicles from others while this issue was being corrected. it was a simple case of programming a new fob that turned into a nightmare of almost a week. it could have been longer but thanks to god it wasn't!! *tr

2009 dodge journey air pressure sensor failure. on 4-23-13. i was traveling a local highway about 65 mph when the valve stem and pressure sensor came loose and fell into the tire on the right rear tire. i managed to get the car stopped safely after loosing control. after reading a dodge forum on-line. the general idea is that this 2009 dodge journey pressure sensor is poorly designed. from what i understand. dodge changed the material the sensor is made of in 2011. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge journey. the contact stated that the front passenger touched the radio and burned her hand. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis. the technician stated that there was a short in the radio/dvd receiver and in the door control module. the technician stated that the door control module and the radio/dvd receiver would have to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2009 dodge journey which came equipped with a tire jack. the contact stated that while attempting to change a tire, the car jack failed and caused the vehicle to fall before the tire could be installed. the dealer was notified of the failure but denied any assistance to the contact. the manufacturer was not contacted. the contact was unaware if the vehicle sustained any damages. the failure and the current mileage was 38,000. the vin was unavailable.

Braking system of 2009 dodge journey is defective, replaced once and replacing again as rotors are warping due to thin material. if i do not pay to replace the rotors, i will certainly lose control of the vehicle if i need to make immediate stop because the vehicle shakes violently when braking. dodge is making no effort to recall or repair the faulty rotors and there is no other manufacturer that makes rotors for this vehicle. *kb

Inaug 2010, i had the brake pads changed barely a year after buying the car. the next month i had to have new rotors because they warped. a month later they were warped again, couldn't get them changed until mar 7, 2011. exactly 30 days later they were warped again. just had them and the brake pads replaced on may 8, 2011. *tr

Premature brake wear due to inadequate brake system to the weight of car. 12k miles brake calibers locked up; 14,500 miles replaced from brake pads and rotors so bad had to be replaced; 26k miles again front rotors had to be turned. now 3 months later 28k miles i need front and back brake pads and all 4 rotors turned. can't handle the car on road for excessive grabbing of brakes and steering unable to hold onto when brakes applied. dodge has had many complaints and law suits filed in nj. they just recently extended the brake warranty to 36k without no notification however, since i had already been told unwarranted and had to get brakes repaired on a weekend stranded and didn't use mopar parts they will not warranty and now telling me that the rotors are warped due to excessive heat. yes excessive heat because their is a law suit due to inadequate brakes for the weight of the vehicle. please help dodge journey owners and anyone on the road near them. unsafe conditions, it is the new toyota. how many people need to die before corp. are held accountable they know. the service mgr even acknowledge but states "he didn't design it, didn't build it or broke it". *tr

My airbag light and throttle light were on as well as the engine light. i contacted service repair department, md where i purchase the vehicle. 2009 dodge journey. i was advised this was due to a recall repair that needed to take place. to bring the car in (march, 2011) after the first repair - the airbag light went out - but the engine light and the throttle light stayed on. i was told the repair would be covered by warranty and possibly was connected with the recall. it has been seven (7) times going back and forth to get this repair. at the time of this writing - my journey is back with them again. not only have i had to take time off from work to bring the car in to them. it has been an inconvenience going back and forth. apparently, after the 2nd time - someone doesn't know what they are doing. i am currently working with the service manager, and the original service associate and still had to take the vehicle back. there is a lack of genuine customer service and some service partners do not know how to stay calm when dealing with a situation like this. i feel i have been taken for granted and i it has been a tremendous inconvenience in adjusting our work, vacation and travel schedules. they have finally given us a rental after 7 times and told us that they purchased a brand new computer system to help fix the situation. it sounds far fetch that a brand new computer system would be purchased to fix one vehicle. we feel like we are being lied to and want the vehicle replaced. we ride our family (including grandchildren) in this vehicle from time to time and want to be safe. march to june 2011 is entirely too long for the same exact repair to be worked on. *tr

My wife and i were about an hour from home when the brakes on our 2009 dodge journey started squealing very, very loud. i pulled over as soon as possible, got under the car to check. i could not see anything specific and let the car sit idle for about 30 minutes. as soon as i started to drive again, at less than 5mph, the brakes started squealing again, just as loud. i drove to a nearby firestone facility, described the problem and the put it on the rack to check the brakes. the journey had 29,400 miles on it.......and the brakes were completely, totally worn out!! they brought the brakes and rotor for me to see and the rotors were badly grooved. they said they thought the brakes were too small for the size, weight of the vehicle and i tend to agree, especially after reading other complaints online. i was told it would have been close to an act of suicide to continue driving the journey and i agree. this is outrageous!! and from what i read, dodge is well aware of the problem but nothing has been done. i am now 08t $300, and could have been involved in a bad accident from failure of the brakes. *tr

I have an 09 dodge journey that has issues from day one. 1st the a/c broke. they fixed it that was only 2 weeks after i bought the car. the car was new and bought in 01/2009. at a little over 12000 miles my brakes were gone. i had to rotate rotors and put new brake pads. ever since then i have had to change the pads (2 times the rotors completely all other times rotating the rotors)5 more times. i have called chrysler and all they have done is made the warranty to 36000 miles but that is not fixing a problem. i have gotten online and researched. i am not the only one having this problem . there are thousands of others and there are actually lawsuits out there for this reason. i was in a fenderbender in dec. 2010 and i can not help but wonder if i would have had brakes there were 100% if it could have been avoided.with all the complaints i am wondering how much it will take for a recall or something to be put into effect. i hope it does not take people getting killed for this to be corrected. *tr

Pre-mature rear brake failure. *tr

Purchase a dodge journey 2009. i inform the dealer that the windows were not coming down as they should. didn't get fixed. the keyless remote was suppose to be with the car it wasn't, they installed a after market keyless remote, don't work correct. the brakes were squeaking and could hear air within the car when applying brakes. i was told that there's nothing wrong and it was normal. it has been 4 to 5 months later now its not starting . contact chrsyler llc , told me i had to have it towed to a dealer , get diagnose , get it fixed and i have to pay for it all and they will reimburse half for the part , labor is all on me. the vehicle has done this no start problem 3 times in 2 and half days. also notice that the steering column gets hot for some unforeseen reason . inform the dealer i purchase my journey from , i was told that is normal. still have the journey can't trade in back because i have no money , so i am stuck with it . having it towed to dealer to get problem looked at and all expense is on me. what do i do . i think chrsyler will not repay me. i have to borrow money to get this done because this is my only transportation. i am scared that i might have a electrical fire while driving and will not notice it until it too late. what do i do. please help in richmond va. *tr

I bought my 2009 dodge journey sxt v6 brand new 12 miles on it and we love the car, and after numerous electrical issues such as power to radio, ac, lights ( not working while driving) and after many returns to dodge dealer for repairs, so far that problem fixed. my doors fill up with water every time it rains, dealership says that's normal, i've never heard water slouching round inside a door before, which i believe lead to the power windows failing. dealership fixed electrical window issue but get water in doors. the most important issue is at 9000 miles i had to take the car in, brakes were grinding, dealership replaced the brakes. now at 21000 miles it needs a complete new brake job done and they want to charge me about $500. the signs that the brakes were going brakes they started squeaking and then a week later my brakes are metal to metal. i believe this is a huge safety issue this is our family car. *tr

The brake system is horribly undersized for the vehicle. pads and rotors have to be replaced at every 13,000 to 15,000 miles? car has only 30,000 miles and i am having to replace the entire brake system again! also the car now has problems starting with the fob key. sometimes it will start, sometimes it won't. really disappointed with the vehicle and really do not feel safe in it. i am currently trying to trade it in or sell it due to the poor reliability. *tr

I purchased a 2009 dodge journey, in may of 2009. by march 22, 2010, the brakes were completely gone. the pads were metal to metal and the rotors were completely shot. the vehicle had 22,200 miles on it. i have a 3 year and 36,000 mile warranty which don jackson is trying not to honor. *dt

This vehicle has several defects the front end makes a whining noise when turning ,the dash is rubbing on the windshield with an awful noise, it pulls to the left while driving, and the engine sounds like a rod is about ready to blow through the hood. my wife and i are embarrassed to drive this thing. *tr
