Tl* the contact owns a 2013 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that the vehicle failed to accelerate above 25 mph on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to egolf ford of brevard (1235 asheville hwy, brevard, nc 28712, (828) 884-4151), but the cause of the failure could not be determined. the dealer did not test drive the vehicle after it was serviced more than four times. the contact stated that diagnostic testing found 10 failure codes which had not been remedied. in addition, the check engine indicator intermittently flashed. the vehicle was towed to skyland auto group (255 smokey park highway, asheville, nc 28806, 828-667-5213) where it was diagnosed that the failure was associated with a factory failure on some vehicles in which the bolts had not been torqued properly. the contact stated that diagnostic testing found ten failure codes, which had not been remedied. the manufacturer issued bulletin number: s1618000050 on november 15, 2016. the vehicle had not been repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 89,215. the vin was not available.
I have a transmission manufacturing defect that should be afforded the same consumer protection as the 2012 grand caravans with engine sludge. my pump and axle seals began leaking while i was driving at 45 mph. i didn't notice until 20 miles were on the odometer. the dealership refused to examine it before i had to release it to ams vans for wheelchair conversion. it was returned to me with 36 miles on the odometer and it was leaking during the additional 16 miles. unless chrysler is willing to provide documentation that this transmission cannot be damaged by running it without fluid it should have been replaced under the 5 year 50,000 mile drive train warranty. but chrysler and the dealership have refused to do so, replacing only the fluid and seals and leaving me with a damaged transmission on my new vehicle. this leak was documented by more than one technician not working for chrysler or the dealership where it was purchased. updated 04/13/12 *bf..updated ivoq 04/19/12 updated 04/24/12......updated 05/15/12 * lj the consumer stated the check engine light did not illuminate and the vehicle is not being driven, because of the loss of ...
While driving i felt and also heard a clunk, then my check engine light came on. while driving it felt like my car was stuck in 1st gear (it has an automatic/manual trans). we then realized the manual was not working, and everytime we put it in drive there is a clunking noise. now as we are driving it sounds like it is stuck in 1st gear like the manual went out and the car thinks it is stuck, the engine revs the rpm's go up and the automatic kicks in but it does not shift right and the engine does not stop revving. since i had this car i have replaced the brakes twice, the battery, the window module, the whole ac. this car is costing more then it is worth and chrysler will not help with any of it. the window module transmission and ac should not have gone out so early. *kb
Powetrain-automatic transmission. 1. made grinding noise when in drive or reverse gears 2. occurred all the time up until the transmission finally gave out. 3. teardown of automatic transmission and rebuild/replacement of "thrust bearings" and other parts determined by the dealerships service department. *tr
Parked facing downhill with vehicle in park and parking brake on. car would not change gear using column lever. got out of vehicle to check under hood for a problem. notice cable disconnected from lever on transmission. when i was about to reach in to get the cable, the vehicle popped out of gear and rolled down hill, the hood slammed my arm trapping it as the vehicle rolled downhill. i became trapped between another car as it pushed me 20 feet downhill. another passer by was able to get in the vehicle and put the brake while i pried my arm out causing nerve damage. the hood would not release while my arm was stuck. *tr
2007 dodge grand caravan had been parked for 6 days while we were away on vacation. returned to airport and drove vehicle home (30 miles). next morning drove vehicle into town (15 miles) with no problems. parked for 1 hour then went to return home. within a few miles the vehicle moved itself into a neutral state (display showed "d" still) while moving down the road. this was immediately made aware as the vehicle began to slow and the engine quickly revved high. was barely able to coast safely into a parking area. turned vehicle off for 5 minutes, then restarted and it drove the rest of the way home. issue is that the vehicle moved itself into neutral without reason and also did not update display. we live in michigan and temperature has been 35 degrees or less recently. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2011 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that while driving 65 mph the vehicle began to down shift and lunge forward. when the accelerator pedal was engaged the vehicle currently does not increase in speed. the contact had to quickly react because of the traffic behind the vehicle and drive onto the emergency lane and shut to the vehicle off. the contact restarted the vehicle and it began to function normally. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer who was unable to diagnosed the failure. immediately after the contact drove away from the dealer the failure recurred. the contact drove onto the emergency lane over to the side of the road and the check engine light came on. the contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer. the dealer ran a diagnostic test and a faulty transmission control module is what's causing the vehicle to suddenly down shift and jerk. the failure mileage was 200.
While stopped and then try to drive forward or reverse, there would be a pause and then suddenly jerk forward/reverse and then be okay. the last time before i had it serviced, (under warranty), i was able to drive forward but reverse would only last a few seconds before it wouldn't work. you press on the gas but it wouldn't move. if you put into forward and then reverse it sometimes let you reverse further but only a foot at a time. new 2010 grand caravan with 5100 [xxx] is getting the transmission replaced. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I have had the 2007 dodge grand caravan since 2007. this winter, when temperatures are around 33 and below, it slips out of drive in to a neutral state. the gear on the dash does not move so it appears to still be in drive. on several occasions while driving my children to school, it "goes neutral" while the vehicle is still moving. it slows down and i can brake but the acceleration will not work. suddenly it will "pop" back into drive. this all happens with both of my hands on the steering wheel. it does this all on its own and it is very scary, especially with my kids in the car. the only thing that helps is to run the vehicle at least 10 minutes in cold weather prior to putting it in drive. *tr
