Driving at 65 mph, there was a lurch in the transmission, and the car came to a halt on the highway. thankfully we had time to pull the vehicle over before it stopped completely. we had it towed to a dodge dealer, where we found out that the transmission pump failed. this failure, not only stopped the car completely, but has a repair ticket of $5,400. this is a known issue for fca, but the pump failure only covers a limited number of vehicles. this pump failure may be effecting more vehicles than initially thought.

We have performed very regular maintenance on our vehicle since purchasing it. we reached 95k miles and out of nowhere, while driving, it lost ability to pull forward and started whining loudly. i turned it off and back on again and it moved forward into the drive but continued to make the loud noise. research points to power train and 2016 dodge grand caravan had an apparent recall on the power train transmission pump. your report shows 0 unrepaired recalls. what do we do?

Our van started to shutter and would sometimes die when we coming to a stop. it then started not shifting right. we were going up mountains and it would not drive. it would not shift right. the transmission completely went out after a year and a half of use. we have kept its oil changed and always had the fluid checked. there was fluid still in it. there was no reason.

Transmission pump faliure in the middle of driving (on rr. 47), had to proceed to a spot to stop, making a left turn at a green light not knowing if it would actually accelerate, now i am told by a mechanic that whenever the pump heats up we will lose all gears...

The first thing to go wrong with this vehicle was the television stopped working and they fixed it once and it went out again but i did not take it back because it would have cost me out of pocket .the next thing to go wrong was the driver side back door would not open they had to keep it for a day or two for that. the next thing to go wrong was the cylinder head they took a week to fix it but the car still had weak engine performance and engine misfire so i took it back for them to check it again and they could not find anything wrong with it. the windshield wiper squirter is also broken. the next thing to go wrong was the gear shifter, the car would not move and was stuck in drive with key stuck in the ignition we had just gotten in the car .i tried to turn the car off and back on but the engine would not crank. i had to have it towed in twice and rent a car on my own insurance doesn't provide rental unless you have a accident. when that happened my family of six was in the car. i had to pay for everything out of pocket. the problems started after 2 years and the car is only three years old and four more years to pay for it .i was advise by an agent at dodge jeep chrysler tallahassee fl that if i continued to pay my warranty would be extended.

While driving this vehicle it began to lose power and would not accelerate when i pushed the gas and then the vehicle would jump from 1 to 5 rpms. took to dodge dealership they had to rebuild the transmission due to bad transmission pump.

I was in motion on a county road when i believe the transmission began messing up. upon research i found there was a recall regarding the transmission in 2016 dodge caravans. i placed the vehicle in "drive" and while it shifted from 1st to 2nd it revved up to 3500 rpm before shifting. when shifting from 2nd to 3rd the vehicle would not shift and revved until about 8000 rpm before finally shifting. i stopped and placed the vehicle in "reverse" and as i tried to accelerate, the gear would not catch until approximately 3000 rpm.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 dodge grand caravan. while driving 20 mph, the vehicle was not shifting while the rpms increased. the vehicle was taken to orlando dodge chrysler jeep ram (4101 w colonial dr, orlando, fl 32808, (407) 299-1120), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who referenced nhtsa campaign number: 16v461000 (power train); however, the vin was not included. the contact mentioned that on the way back to the dealer, the vehicle hesitated to drive and stalled. the vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. the vehicle was not taken back to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. the manufacturer was contacted twice and informed the contact that the vin was not included in the recall. the failure mileage was 93,783. *ln*jb

The vehicle was drive-able but would not go above 40mph when motion in on the highway or street. the vehicle hesitate and shift gears when trying to go above 40mph.i took the vehicle to certified dodge dealer who said it was my transmission and it needs to be replaced. the vehicle is 2016 dodge caravan.

Transmission will not shift past third gear. was leaving doctors appointment and it wouldn't change past 3rd gear. have been trying to get part for 5 months

While driving along on the highway on a bridge the vehicle started to buck and jerk could not select any gears transmission was slipping a loud whining high pitch sound came from the transmission area check engine symbol came on i managed to get vehicle off the road. i had vehicle towed to dealership 41425 miles on 2016 dodge grand caravan sxt. vehicle was dealer serviced and owners manual was signed at required service times. date 5 august 2019. dealer replaced torque converter, transmission pump, transmission filter, transmission fluid. my vin did not come up on any recalls. drive train warranty should be extended to 100,000 miles on these vans as a minimum to protect the consumers.

I bought my 2016 dodge grand caravan in february of 2018 with 98000 miles on it. here i am 1 year and 5 months later having to replace the transmission at 108000 miles. i was driving and without warning on a city street my rpms were going up to 6000 but my van wasn't accelerating. i almost got rear ended and luckily none of my children were with me, especially my 7 week old baby!! the transmission repair shop that i had it towed to said it wasn't due to the pump that was recalled, that apparently did not apply to my vin, but the inside of my transmission was breaking apart internally. when they took the pan off the transmission there were pieces of metal laying in it. and after all this my check engine light never came on.

Owned dodge grand caravan rt 2016 one year sliding door on driver side stopped working from one day to next. then driving down hill from freeway, brakes made a loud screeching sound and the whole van was shaking i thought i was gonna loose control i replace new brakes and drum its better but still shaky going down hill. after month of owning the car i could fill a lil misfire when i give a lil gas but just thought its an rt has power. well recently my van been in the shop twice for the same problem check engine light came on shows its miss firing (ignition coils) and sparkplugs needed to be replaced. well we replace all spark plugs and 1 ignition coil because the other coils were still good. things were good and drove around for 3 weeks then check engine light comes again. code still shows ignition coil need to be replace. this time replace all 6 ignition coil, guess what i just picked up my van today and 10 min of driving back home check engine light comes on again. took it back to the mechanic it still miss firing ignition coils. i about ready to throw this van away. this van is only 3 years old how could it possibly have this much problems. in addition when i turn on my signal light on to go right or left my wipers will go off too.

The vehicle was in motion but wouldnt shift would just take the rpms to 7000. the transmission was getting so hot it was making my temperatures gauge for my engine rise. i pulled off on exit 92 on 81 southbound by the time the vehicle came to a stop i was seeing flames coming out from the floorboard. i bought the vehicle certified preowned but i never recieved a recall for the transmission pump as it shows there is one on this website. my vehicle is a total lose and it completely burned my vehicle by the time the fire department got there.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 dodge grand caravan. while driving approximately 40 mph, the check engine warning indicator suddenly illuminated and the vehicle would no longer accelerate. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the local dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 73,000.

I brought my new dodge caravan at arrigo sawgrass florida on august 2016. it currently has 72,000 miles, the warranty expired at 60,000 miles. i have done all required maintainance at there dealer, this vam has never given me problems before, and has only been seen by them. on april 7, it suddenly stopped working and it seem.to have transmission problems. i took it to the dealer and they informed me the transmission main pump broke and i need to.replace the transmission with a new on. repair cost is 4884.00. this is unacceptable, as i brought it new, amd they are now offering 3yr 100,000 warranty if i do the job with them. doing some.research on line i saw they had a recall for dodge caravan 2016-16v461000, s44. this recall.was effective for units until july 2016, this unit is from august 2016, so i'm pretty sure this is a manufacturer issue and they should be responsable regardless my warranty ended 12,000 miles ago. the vehicle can not be moved and i pay 584.81 monthly.

I've been having electrical problems since i got the van at some point while i'm driving all the gages would start flashing acting like it was trying to die some cases it did some cases it did not but when i stopped the dashboard had lost all power to it no ignition whatsoever i still had working radio headlights and everything else whenever i would park the car it could take up to an hour or more to get in the vehicle because it would not respond to the key fobs you would be sitting down minding your own business and then all the sudden it would work left me stranded trying to get to work my child to school and then last night while i was driving down the highway i started hearing a noise and then all a sudden the transmission started slipping revving up to 6000 rpm while i'm crossing over a bridge on a major highway barely was able to get across the bridge leaving me stranded in an unsafe part of town i ran a code scanner on the vehicle it shows code u0141 that was stored and p083b which is the transmission fluid pump and it never turn on a check engine light until i was less than a mile from the dealer after i had to drive to the dealer because the roadside assistance number i had i could not contact them. i do know that some of the vehicles were under recall i'm not sure if this one was and it was fixed or not but is not showing an active recall but it is not safe the images i shared i was actually driving forward and as you can see the lights came on and at 1 point it actually showed me as being in reverse it beeps and goes crazy

I was driving home at night, around 35mph. all of a sudden the transmission and rpms went off the charts, all the way up to 7000rpms, any sort of acceleration by tapping the gas pedal caused the vehicle to malfunction. i had my daughter in the car and tried to get pulled off to the side of the road and get the vehicle stopped. once i got it stopped it was undrivable at this point and had to call a tow service. my local mechanic deemed it to be the transmission pump went out while i was driving. no warning, no lights, nothihg. now the van is at the dodge dealer for inspection. i was told that grand caravans had a recall on transmission pumps between the dates of july 31, 2015 and april 18,2016 (mine was manufactrured october 2015) even though it falls in those dates, my vin# was not attached to the recall. (s44 is the recall number, also the nhtsa campaign number is 16v461000) this was a serious malfunction, and could have been more serious if i would have been driving just a little faster. at one point, the vehicle kept accelerating without the gas pedal being pushed. we were lucky i was able to get the vehicle to the side of the road. once the van was shut off, there was a burning odor coming from the vehicle. i have looked and found several others with the same issue as mine, who were not included in the recall and should of been. hopefully an investigation will open soon, before someone gets seriously injured.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 dodge grand caravan. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle accelerated independently without warning. on another occasion, the vehicle started to slow down while traveling up a hill. the contact was able to coast the vehicle to the side of the road. the contact placed the shifter into park and powered off the engine. the vehicle was restarted, but a burning odor was present around the vehicle. the contact powered off the engine again and had the vehicle towed to an independent mechanic. the mechanic diagnosed that the transmission pump failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer and was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided case number: 58391588. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000. *dt *jb

Error code p076a -- drive solenoid circuit short or open wire. transmission stuck in first gear, gear shift indicator on dash (digit) not lit , as an indicator of the failure also. check engine light on drive to garage was normal freeway traffic. i recall a little roughness in the shifting/engaging as i backed into the spot to park when i arrived. when i pulled out of the space (forward) the transmission was locked in first gear. drove home at 15 mph about 7 miles distance. i am the original owner, purchased from the dealership. contact information has never changed, i get lots of mail from the dealership, but have never been contacted for any recalls ( there have been 7) i have never received any notification (for instance -- recall s37 from june 2016 has never been mentioned and is still not remedied). the vehicle has been to the dealership for service multiple times since s37 was issued.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 dodge grand caravan. while driving approximately 70 mph, the transmission shifted into neutral on its own and the rpms increased to 7,000. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road and shut off. the vehicle was restarted and driven to wilde chrysler jeep dodge ram south street (262-544-5400, located at 1710 wi-164, waukesha, wi 53186) where the technician updated the computer and stated that there were no other failures with the vehicle. the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was out of warranty and referred the contact to nhtsa. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 134,000.

Yesterday, i was driving straight ahead at 25mph on level city street with the vehicle in "drive." suddenly the engine roared and revved up but the car did not accelerate - it was as if the transmission had somehow slipped into neutral. i took my foot off the gas, let the engine settle back, and cautiously applied power. the car behaved normally. however, after parking and running some errands, the same thing happened on my return trip home. i have not used the car since.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 dodge grand caravan. while driving approximately 45 mph, there was an abnormal sound emitting from the transmission. while making a right turn with the accelerator pedal depressed, the vehicle failed to respond. in addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle failed to shift into gear. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission pump and torque converter needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v461000 (power train). a dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted. the approximate failure mileage was 76,000.

The vehicle is 2 years old i have owned for 7 months. i start the car it will not go into gear. i shut the car off the motor keeps running. then it will go in gear and move by itself.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 dodge grand caravan. the contact stated that the transmission failed while taking off after, stopping at a drive thru restaurant. the contact would turn off and restart the vehicle but it made a grinding noise. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where the failure was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the dealer and the manufacturer had not been contacted yet. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 67,000.

The transmission is all messed up. when you get in and start up the van and put it in gear it acts like you are feathering a manual transmission and it will slowly start to take off. when sifting through the gears it will sometimes slip, the rpms will rev up and down then jump into gear. sometimes when it down shifts it will jerk when we are stopping, i have learned that this is call a bump stop by the techs.also if we have 3 or 4 people in the van and we try and back up it jerks violently, it feels like you are on a bucking bronco. i have taken it to the dealer, audobon chrysler in henderson ky. they keep telling me that they can't duplicate the problem, and that their are no recalls on this van. it's funny that i can go on line and find all kinds of recalls about the power train and many other problems with the 2016 dodge grand caravans, but the dealer can't seem to find any recalls??? i can't recall the exact date when we purchased the van, i would have to look it up,it was about a year ago and we are still fighting with the dealer as of 10/24/2019 because the problem is ongoing and getting worse??

2016 dodge grand caravan. consumer writes in regard to transmission failure. *as *tr

This is what you get with dodge!! - purchased my dodge grand caravan less than 2 years ago and the transmition is gone less than 1,000 miles after the warranty. they will not be helping me at all.. listen to how they treat their customer's below!

Transmission pump at about 20-30 mph the transmission does not shift smoothly or at 40mph it slips into neutral and revs to 4000 rpms but the speed does not increase.

While driving to work my wife noticed the van coasted to a traffic light while in drive. a loud whine could be heard when she accelerated passed the traffic light almost like a old power steering pump going bad. the van barely made it to the parking lot. that night we tried to see if the van was drivable going home. the same loud sound happened under acceleration the van would barely move again and when it finally caught it launched the van forward. leaving the parking lot the van no longer would engage in drive and coasted to another parking lot that's where we had the van towed to the nearest dealer. the dealer installed a new transmission because the vehicle is still under warranty.

The transmission had zero known issues prior to this incident. the transmission began losing power and shifting aggressively. the transmission would shift into drive and move one out of every five attempts. the transmission in drive acted as though it was in neutral. upon taking the vehicle to a shop it was discovered that a bulletin has been published about this issue yet no recall at this time. at one point the vehicle lost power going uphill and began to roll backwards. this issue poses a safety issue especially consider the problem developed from a known issue and inside 24 hours. potentially related: nhtsa campaign number: 16v461000

At 60,500 miles while driving at 60mph the transmission lost hydraulic power and we were forced to get towed from the highway to a local aamco transmission repair shop. the vehicle was diagnosed as having no hydraulic pressure and the mechanic theorized that the hydraulic pump had ceased and was no longer providing adequate fluid to the gears. there is a recall 16v461000 that is for this specific problem, yet despite falling in the range of the recalled vehicles manufacturing dates, we were told that we had no recourse because our specific vin number was not on the list. right car, right model, right year, right manufacturing date range, exactly the same issue as the recall, and yet we are not on the list?? how is that possible? we were fortunate to be able to pull safely to the shoulder of the highway.

About 3700 miles the a/c stopped blowing cold air. vehicle equipped with r134a. put my gauges on vehicle way low add some stop leak w/leak detector. found that the valve in rear a/c leaking. around same time driver rear sliding door stopped unlocking and opening, the child lock lever moved by itself. so i moved it back to disable and that worked for about a weak. then it started to make a noise like gears were jammed or rubbing together and then it just stopped. dorr remains unlocked now w/no sound from actuator. transmission seems to slip and lose power.

This vehicle was purchased with less than 2k miles on it and in the month timeframe i have had it, it has stalled 3 times on me. once while driving on a busy road and twice in my driveway. the time on the busy road was when i was keeping up with traffic at about 40 miles per hour. the second and third time was when i was in my driveway and i had no sooner started the van that it shut off immediately. both instances i have had 1/4 tank of gas. when towed to dealer, no codes came on so i was told there was no way to determine what went wrong with vehicle.

Beginning on 1/7/2017, 1) the check engine light went on while my wife was driving on the sob (135). 2) dodge grand caravan 2016 shakes (bucks) between 25 mph - 30 mph. today, 1/8/2017 1) i woke to the check engine light on 2) dodge grand caravan 2016 shakes (bucks) between 25 mph - 30 mph. 3) i called chrysler (1-800-853-1403) at 11:11 am 4) chrysler says my vin is not part of (dodge grand caravan 2016) recall 5) i told chrysler i will ride that bucking dodge grand caravan 2016 all the way to chrysler's dealer. *tr

While driving on interstate rpms began jumping to 5 and 6 and the car was jerking. pulled over and noticed transmission fluid leaking. there was no damage to the vehicle to cause this. we have had the car 3 weeks and haven't even made a payment yet because it is brand new. i've found research where other dodge caravans are having transmission issues and they are being recalled.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 dodge grand caravan. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v461000 (power train) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. the manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. the contact had not experienced a failure. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Tl* the contact owns a 2016 dodge grand caravan. while driving 35 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. the failure recurred on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the contact was unsure about what part needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v461000 (power train); however, the part needed to repair the vehicle was unavailable. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was unknown. parts distribution disconnect.
