The vehicle shuts completely off while driving. no spitting or sputtering, no stalling, no error codes or lights. just shuts off with no warning. weather conditions, speed, miles drove matters

February my husband and i financed this car and within less than one month we been experiencing one issue after another. first, the heater hose had a hole in it then after that was the radiator then after we replaced those two now we have a issue with the exhaust modifier as well a issue with the brakes today the tires locked up on us. could be related to the issues thats been reported on the newer dodge grand caravans.

While driving the 2010 dodge grand caravan it will just shut down. while trying to figure out the problem i found 2 recalls for electrical issues both having to do with the vehicle shutting down while driving. when i entered my vin it showed one that needed the ignition and fobs replaced. we took it to our local dealer tri-star of indiana and they say the recall was completed in june of 2016. i can't find any paperwork on this and it still shows up. even if it was done, it's obvious it needs done again because their replacement parts are defective just like the ones they replaced. i already informed them if anything happens to my family or me while driving this, they will be the first names on the law suit the dodge for not fixing the issue correctly the first time. this happens in town, on country roads, sitting at stop lights. the last time it happened my daughter was taking her kids to the doctor on tuesday 12/3/2019.

While driving my van just shuts off i have no steering it just stops. it is currently at a dealership in indiana pennsylvania called tri star. i saw there was a recall for this and they are stating i had it fixed in 2016. it is happening again. should this not be your responsibility to fix. i have two small children with me. 18 months and 4 months i want peace of mind they will be safe.

I recently purchased a 2010 dodge grand caravan. the car shuts off on me while driving . it will start back up after you put it in park and turn it back on but it just shuts off . it shut off on me twice on the highway with my kids in the car and four times while driving in the city.it makes this weird noise when turning left and the lights are flickering on and off. if that's not enough the doors seem to just open and close on there own the trunk shut on me while i was getting groceries out. i brought the car into the shop and they said they can't duplicate the shutting off and claimed they fixed the door opening in it's own problem .well the doors continue to open and now they are hard to open with the key and you have to manually open them . this is a safety concern and the dealer is claiming there is nothing wrong please help me.

A few weeks ago i had a problem with my ignition, and started to look information abount it. i found a recall for my vehicle (r3 / nhtsa 14v-373) where the remedy is: the win module and fobiks must be replaced. i called to palmer dodge (770) 410-1111 (address: 11460 alpharetta hwy, roswell, ga 30076 - worker: luis) and made a appointment to fev-19 (today), and they told me that it will be replaced, but today they told me that they just will update the win module and it will be fine. the report say: the win module and fobiks must be replaced, so i don't fell good because they didn't fix the problem. i tried to contact recalls.mopar.com by chat, and they could not help me. i ask the palmer worker and he just say that update is enough, but the report says must be replaced.

Mileage: 100,000 the engine will cut out while driving. dash lights will flash, warning chime will beep, and the vehicle will rev and lurch forward before dying. this leaves the car at a coast. when the vehicle is brought to a stop, it restarts without a problem. has happened in cold and warm weather alike.. has happened while coasting, braking, and accelerating. most stalls have been while driving straight in the city. no highways stalls to date . cause: unkown; we have not been able to reproduce the event reliably, though it now occurs with some frequency (e.g. driving more than 20 min). i suspect the power control module (pcm) or the ignition switch somehow moving between on and accessory modes. available data: issues similar to this one can be found on forums, it does not seem that many have been able to resolve the problem, despite replace the computer and alternator.

The van started randomly shutting down/turning off/stalling (however you want to term it) while in drive and in motion. happens at any speed, any road conditions, all gas levels, and any temperature. last occurrence was 4 times in less than 10 mins. 3 separate mechanics have no idea what's wrong and since it can't be produced at will, they are unable to diagnose. it's only a matter of time before something happens and results in an accident. this has been ongoing since september 2018.

Van stalls while driving- no steering, etc

My vehicle has stopped running while driving 3 days in a row which has caused close collisions. i have lost my trust in my "family safe van". i loose control of my power steering and have to pull over to the side of the road and put my vehicle in park/neutral and then restart it. i've read numerous online posts about this problem and i believe some of these models have already been recalled because of the ignition switch failing. i'm unhappy that the manufacturer hasn't done what they are supposed to do and contacted the consumer and reported this issue to them properly. this will cause accidents and isn't safe. i've read multiple posts online where the dealership/dodge has informed multiple people that nothing is wrong with their vehicle because they can't replicate it. what ever happened that the customer is always right? please help me make sure dodge takes care of this safety recall before it causes injury/death to multiple family's that this issue could happen to them when they least expect it because it is supposed to be a family safe vehicle. sincerely, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *cc *tr

I have had to replace the catalytic converter 3 times already. i went this month to get a safety inspection and was told it is the catalytic converter again. do you have a recall on catalytic converter for this vehicle?

Often after starting the vehicle and in drive it will automatically shut off. i have to put in neutral and turn ignition over again to make it drive again. this happens at stop lights, city streets and expressways. the radio and air will still work but i'm just coasting with no power steering.

While driving my 2010 dodge grand caravan van in the city limits, when i hit the brake to slow down or to anticipate to stop, the engine shuts off while the car is still in motion. the radio, lights and air conditioner do not shut down *(they stay on). when this happens, i take out the key, reinstall it back to the ignition switch and crank it to turn the engine on and it does turn on. this is happening everyday, at least twice per day.

Vehicle shut down while giving gas at a speed of 30 mph or less loose steering and brakes and slip slide warning symbol appears. reference numbers that apply are 14v373000, 11v139000 and rc-r03-15. after i shut down the car it i can restart te car immediately. when i turn the radio back on the radio comes right on without the safety warning that normally appears when i turn the radio on.

My dodge grand caravan, 2010, has started cutting off on me while driving. my stabilizer light comes on, rpms drop to 0, and i lose my power steering along with low break reaction. i feel this is very unsafe. i have changed several sensors to no avail. i started doing research and found that they have safety recall l25. called my local dodge dealership to set up the repair, only to find out my van was not included in the recall, even though it is in the alotted years (2008-2010). what am i supposed to do. this could easily cause a wreck

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. also, while reversing, the vehicle would seize and the engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact had to turn off and restart the vehicle for it to operate properly. the vehicle was taken to byford chrysler dodge jeep ram duncan (8703 us-81, duncan, ok 73533, (580) 255-2067), but was not diagnosed or repaired. the failures recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures and informed the contact that there were no recalls associated with the vin. the failure mileage was 157,000.

Car stalls out of nowhere and i lose power steering and brakes. the traction control light comes on after it's stalled. i have nearly gotten into an accident twice but it has stalled more than that. it was in motion from speeds of 25-40 mph on city streets. twice on a turn and 6 times going straight.

The vehicle has shut down while driving about 15 times over the last 2 years. while driving, usually at slower speeds but once on the freeway and a few times at about 45 mph, the abs light comes on and then everything shuts off -- engine, power steering, brakes -- everything. it is a miracle it hasn't killed us yet. we have taken it to the dealer several times and they can not replicate it or find any code that is the problem. it is not the ignition recall as we have had that fixed. during my research i have found that this is a problem with this vehicle.

Beginning september 2017 to december 2017 (present): multiple issues related to electrical: (1) engine stalled while driving at 30 mph (city street, driving straight), and lost power steering and brakes; (2) electrical system warning light has been coming on from september 2017 to december 2017 (present). light often comes on when power window buttons are pressed; battery has been checked; alternator has been replaced twice (!) in december 2017 and warning light still comes on; (3) windows roll themselves down when vehicle is not running; this happened multiple times in winter and cold weather, there is no chance the window was left down by the driver; (4) head and tail lights blink when vehicle is not running; (5) rear seat power outlet not working; (6) rear defroster not working; (7) side mirror defrosters not working. research into others with similar problems suggest defective tipm.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving various speeds and making a left turn, the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle was able to restart. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. an independent mechanic informed the contact that the vehicle would be difficult to diagnose because no warning indicators illuminated. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and offered no assistance. the failure mileage was approximately 134,431.

We have a 2010 dodge grand caravan sxt with 133,000 miles and since the day we got it back in july all it has done while driving is shut down/shut itself off. lights on dashboard will come on, flash and van will just shut down. key refuses to come out at times, have no hazard lights when this happens, and it can take anywhere from 5-30 minutes for the van to even start again. this happens on the interstate and in the city, doesnt matter really where we are, even at stop lights/stop signs

2010 dodge grand caravan 108000 miles. at time of this complaint, we have owned vehicle for only two months. for no apparent reason and no warning; engine will stall. this has happened both at a stop sign and rounding a curve at 30 mph. no engine - no power steering. hoping this doesn't happen on the highway. engine also has a 'surge' to it at around 40 mph; not sure if the two are related.

My 2010 dodge grand caravan began having issues about 6 months ago. the abs light would light up and beep on and off and was taken to the dealership and they stated they could not determine the problem without it occuring at that time. as months went on the problem became worse. all the dashboard lights began turning on and off headlights would dimmer, clock and radio would shut off. took to a few mechanics and none could determine the problem. the problem got worse battery light began staying lit. we then replaced the battery and the battery cables. the problems persisted, we took to another mechanic who stated the alternator needed to be replaced. we replaced the alternator and the vehicle was fine for three weeks, then the problem started again all the lights lit up, the air went in and out, the radio shut off and out of nowhere the car shut off while about to turn at an intersection with my children in the van. we have taken the vehicle to many different mechanics even the dealership and none of them can determine what is causing this issue. through the internet i see that we are not alone with this problem. i don't know what to do besides attempt to get rid of the vehicle. this is the vehicle i bought to transport my children; i've been paying for rental cars because i'm scared to drive it. with as many complaints as i've seen for this issue you would think there should be a recall. someone is going to be seriously hurt or dead if they don't do something about this.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle by switching the gear into neutral and turning the ignition key. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 132,000. updated 08/18/17*lj *cn

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact stated that the vehicle lost total power and had to be restarted. in addition, the vehicle made a clicking noise and would not start on numerous occasions. the vehicle was taken to be repaired, but the dealer could not duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 79,940.

Sudden loss of engine, power steering and brakes while vehicle is in motion. happens at low and high speeds, driving straight and when turning. all electrical components remain operational. dealer unable to duplicate.

While operating vehicle the engine quits running and the vehicle becomes hard to handle as power steering and brakes become stiff. the only code that comes up is an abs failure. started about 6 months ago with an occasional happening now it has happened up to 3 times per day. seems to happen at slower speeds when vehicle is in motion. city driving so far but concerned about safety of this continuing. dealer seems to have no clue at this point or are just playing dumb because there are a lot of forums with people discussing this issue.

Driving at 10-20 mph, warning lights esp abr and tracing icon flash on and off before engine stalls, happens whether turning, or driving straight. electrical system fails including power steering, radio flashes off, clock goes to 12:00. often at speeds 35 -65 mph, same lights flash on and off 10 to 15 times in various distances of 3 miles - 25 miles before stalling, driving down a winding, mountain road in heavy traffic at night at speeds between 60-70mph, same lights flashed on and off, the speedometer needle instantly dropped down to zero then quickly flipped up to current speed each time lights flashed, then they stayed on while i pulled off the road, it stalled in park position. starts up again without hesitation. once i went 3 miles without incident, upon returning while at a stop light, same warning lights flashed, when the light turned green, engine stalled. i restarted the engine and i was able to proceed through the green light making a left turn, no other stall the rest of the way home. regardless if i'm turning left or right, going up hill or down hill or on city street, whether the engine is cold or hot or temperature outside is hot, cold, or raining. it is random, having purchased this used vehicle only 4 months ago, driven less than 1000 miles, i don't feel safe as a female senior citizen traveling alone any distance in this vehicle, previous owner had the dealer replace fuel pump and computer (twice). i have replaced the 1 year old battery due to a hot to the touch cable to the battery, not generating the proper amount of power, also replaced the original computer with a new computer which did not resolve this issue. numerous complaints were told a win or tipm module would fix this problem which it didn't. 2010 dodge grand caravan recall: ignition replacement. the ignition moves between 'accessories and on' causing engine to stall.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the contact was able to restart the vehicle. the contact stated that the failure was intermittent. the vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed. the contact was informed that the fuel injection and air intake needed to be cleaned. the vehicle was repaired, but the vehicle experienced the failure after the repairs. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 77,000.

While driving the car, the engine shuts off unexpectedly and we lose power steering and brakes. we have to coast to a stop, put it back in park and restart engine and proceed. this happens with no predictability which makes this dangerous. the times that it has happened, the roads have been wet or snow covered. it has also happened on dry roads. traveling at a high rate of speed makes this a dangerous circumstance. since it is unpredictable, we are very nervous to take this car on a highway. we have had the car in to shapiro leon motor sales several times and they cannot find anything that comes up on their diagnostics.they did replace the powertrain control module. this did not make a difference. it continued to shut down. there is no rhyme or reason. they have driven it but it did not shut down for them. i got it inane shortly after leaving , it shut down. we know that there was a recall on the ignition switch through june 2010 but our car was manufactured sept 2010. however all the symptoms that are listed on that recall fit our van's problem perfectly. the dealership does not agree a per their testing. this is not something that we can have happen to us while traveling 65 down the interstate. the only thing that shows up on the dash is the traction control when we lose engine power. please address this problem. *tr

While driving at low speeds (35mph or slower) the vehicle engine has stalled 5 times since july of 2016. the stalling issue happens during the first drive of the day. happens within the first 3-4 miles of the drive been to the fca dealership twice unable to fix the problem. the power brakes and steering go out due to the engine stall. it has happened on straight roads and during curved roads. i'm able to put the vehicle in neutral and re-start the vehicle. there is no warning or indicator of the stall, only the increased effort to turn or stop the vehicle. dates of occurrence: 7/16, 8/7, 8/20, 9/3 & 9/17.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was 105,000.

While driving my car it just shuts off on me at random times. i never know when it is going to happen. it has happened 4 times in 2 week. i found a recall online for this same thing but my dealer is telling me they are vin number specific and my vin says there is no recall so they won't fix it. this is due to only chrysler only covered up till june of 2010 model year and our van/vin was made in july of 2010. please help me get this fixed before i have an accident and injure myself or my family that is in the van most of the time or someone else. they need to extend the recall for all of 2010 model year, not just part of the year.

Van started and key stuck, then when the key get finally removed the engine stay on and won't shut off unless remove cables from battery. when the battery cables are connected again the engine start by itself without a key or the ignition is on without the key and the only way to shut off the van or to turn off the ignition is to disconnect the cables from the battery or it stays on or won't shut off. running the battery out and your gas tank empty.

On april 17, driving at highway speeds the cruise control failed to cancel two separate times. applying brakes also did not cancel the cruise control. then, engine stalled at highway speeds on same trip two times. several days later, engine failed to start. after several attempts the engine started. suspect tipm failure.

Engine stalls while driving in motion-so far has only occurred while driving on city streets but is becoming more frequent.originally seemed to occur only when not fully warmed up but now is happening at regular operating temperatures also.it has happened both while making turns and while traveling in a straight line. i often don't notice it has occurred until i try to accelerate or turn and discover the loss of power steering and that the tachometer is on "o" rpms. it has become a regularly re-occurring annoyance and has obvious danger potential. i took the car to a dealership for the recall on the win module and was told that the brand of module that this vehicle contained was not the one they were having problems with and would therefore not replace it. they also claimed that the problem we were having was not related to that part. checking online i find that i am far from the first owner of these vehicles experiencing this problem and that chrysler corp. seems to be in denial of a problem and is at a loss as to correction of the problem. please add my complaint to the growing list of unresolved complaints relating to this vehicle.

We have a 2010 dodge caravan that was built in june of 2010. it has 39,711 miles on it and three times this week, 02/03&04/2016, the engine shut off inadvertently while my wife was driving it at speeds up to 40 mph. the power steering and power brakes did not work and she let it coast top a stop, while breaking, pulling over to the side of the road. this was on a state route she put it in park and the car started all three times. two of these incidents happened while our 2 middle school children were in the car. i called the chrysler complaint bureau and they checked my vin number and told me my vehicle was not included in their recent recall involving their win ignition key fob problems even though our vehicle is experiencing the same engine shut down as in their recall. i had the car checked with a computer and there are no code problems with the vehicle. the dealer i went to told me our vehicle was manufactured 6 days out of the june 17th. 2010 recall date. on checking my sticker on the driver door, it only gives 06/2010 as a mfg date. in the interest of safety for my wife and children it will be costing me just over $600.00 to have this fixed with the same parts as in the recall. its hard for me to believe that back in 2010 as chrysler was using these defective parts that after june they quit using them since the recall didn't take effect till june 26, 2014.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge grand caravan. while driving approximately 10 mph, a thumping noise was heard under the hood of the vehicle. as the contact continued to drive, the engine began to rev and the vehicle began to slow down and would not accelerate. the instrument panel lights began to flicker and smoke appeared under the hood and through the vents inside the vehicle. the vehicle stalled. the contact stated that the connecting rod fractured, there was a hole through the engine block, and the water and oil lines were severed. the vehicle was towed. the contact was unsure if a police report was filed. the contact's spouse, a certified mechanic, diagnosed that the connecting rod was fractured and blew a hole through the engine. the engine, motors, computer board, and brakes needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 54,800.

The vans engine shuts off whenever it wants. driving down the road it just shuts down, all accessories continue to work such as fans radio etc. the steering locks up because the engine shuts down. as soon as i can stop i put it in park and turn the key. the car immediately starts and i continue to drive. there are no warning lights on and nothing flashes on the dash when it stalls. it just turns off as if i haven't turned the key all the way to run.
