My wife was driving my 3 children (ages 5, 3, and 18 months) home in our 2008 dodge grand caravan. as she was pulling up to a stop sign, the airbags deployed inadvertently. although, no one was injured, it was quite traumatic for my kids. they would not re-enter the van and had to receive a ride home from a local police officer. i contacted chrysler the next day. it took them over two weeks to send someone to inspect the vehicle. during that time, after having left repeated messages with chrysler, someone finally called me back and said that would not provide a replacement vehicle during the investigation, and they basically blamed me for the incident. they said there were recalls on the van that were not addressed. i informed him that i had not seen any recall regarding airbag safety. the man on the phone had 2 addresses on file, of which neither was currently accurate. he said that i should have contacted them when we moved. finally after almost 4 weeks, they wrote me a letter saying that they were not taking responsibility. they told me that i should report the incident to my insurance company to have them cover it. since then, i have found that there was a recall to the hvac drain tube and grommet that could leak and cause malfunction to the airbags. *js
