My engine shuts off while i am driving my vehicle . without warning. this has happened on several occasions. the vehicle comes to a complete stop when it shuts off.
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge durango. the contact stated that the front of the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames while parked in her employer's parking lot. the fire department came and put out the flames. there was no police report filed and the contact was told it was her responsibility to have the vehicle towed. the front end was charred and burned out. there were no injuries. the dealer and manufacturer had not been contacted yet. the failure mileage was 253,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2012 dodge durango. while making a turn driving at low speed the steering wheel failed to turn and vehicle stalled. the battery warning indicator light was illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who stated that the alternator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was towed to an another independent mechanic who stated the serpentine belt, pcm, battery, and alternator needed to be replaced. the contact called ed voyles chrysler dodge jeep ram 789 cobb pkwy se, marietta, ga 30060, (844) 715-5921 but the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 17v435000 (electrical system) as a possible cause for the failure. the manufacturer was contacted but no further assistance was provided. the failure mileage was 148,000.
While driving on the highway, the car would no longer accelerate and the engine had turned off. all electrical indications were normal and no warnings appeared. i coasted to the side of the road at which point the vehicle displayed the message "shift vehicle to park and restart engine." i put the vehicle in park and restarted the engine. this has occurred multiple times at varying speeds under various conditions. vehicle was taken to dealership who had the vehicle for 3 days and was unable to reproduce or diagnose the issue. no codes were stored in the vehicle.
Tl* the contact owns a 2017 dodge durango. the contact stated that while driving at approximately 55 mph, the contact noticed that there was grey and white smoke coming from the tail pipe. in addition, the vehicle was running hot while the start and stop waring light and the check engine warning light illuminated intermittently. the contact mentioned that coolant was put in the vehicle to cool down the engine. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the coil needed to be replaced and the head gasket was cracked and leaking and needed to be replaced. the contact contacted redlands chrysler jeep dodge ram (500 w redlands blvd, redlands, ca 92373) where they informed the contact that the vehicle was unable to be repaired due to warranty expired. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
Mechanic stated it was a bad lifter in engine causeing a ticking sound. after extensive research about this issue, it has shown me that this is a recurring issue with alot of your durango models and alot of complaints on this not being a recall on these vehicles. my complaint is that i have less than 88,000 miles on my vehicle and others with far less mileage having engine trouble and dodge/chrysler will not recall and fix this problem.
I purchased my vehicle 10/2019. since then i have taken to repair shop for vehicle stalls when coming to a stop or at a stop, let along when slowing for a stop. then rpm's drop! i have almost been rear ended multiple times due to this, with my children and grandchildren in car!!! the shop i've taken to can not find out why this is happening. granted we tried replacing hoses, valve gaskets tune up. i feel there should be a recall to find and fix this before a serious injury happens. this has also happened as i was driving and i had to put in neutral to restart. the streets and roads i have to travel are usually always busy. also the vehicle when stopping the front driver and passenger seats slide back and forth, they are not what i would call safe... for i believe the rules ares to check mirrors, adjust seating, wear seat belts to ensure that you will be driving safely. i could be wrong but i'm pretty positive. needs fixing now!! the other issue is the hoses... they seem to fall off and i take ...
I arrived home and parked my car under my carport at 8:30 p.m. at 12:20 a.m. i heard loud popping noises and smelled smoke. i went outside to see my 2019 dodge durango with 9,012 miles on fire. the hood of the truck was fully engulfed with fire. this fire caught onto the house and my neighbor's home.
Went to go start durango & heard a loud boom, & now it seems to be knocking & not drivable now, after do research online we cam across that on these models (2004 dodge durango 5.7 hemi magnums) it seems too leak water into where the engine is due to hood manifold is designed horribly & water leaks on wires, spark, plugs, engine etc. etc. we've noticed when we drove in the rain or even going through a carwash that the durango would sputter as if it was going to die & it has a couple times & took about 15 mins to start again, after this event has happened we thank god that it happened at home & not on the interstate around other vehicles because this is a serious safely issue that needs to be addressed & now we are out of a vehicle at the moment and we are still currently making payments on this vehicle for another year and a half at-least.
Engine has cutout (turns off) while driving on 4 occasions. on all four occasions it has occurred while i was exiting a road/ramp. when vehicle cuts out power steering also does not work. in all occasions i have been able to pull off the road or stop before the road ends. the vehicle then starts right back up and functions properly. no check engine lights have come on.
