Vehicle has transmission gear issue or software problem when downshifting. car is supposedly learning to driving habit but transmission shifting jerks especially when you are decreasing speed behind car in front and as it is fully stopped and engages into idle(1) it jerks harshly to point of almost hitting car in front. even when putting car into automatic to paddle shifting mode it jerks just to engage the gear. eco mode is sporadic, sport mode is less, and manual paddle shifting is least noticeable since it is controlled by user. similar issues have been reported by multiple dodge users regarding transmission jolting even for 2015 to 2019 models, maybe even further back. vehicle is going to shop today on 2/10/20.

While driving around 55 mph, smoke and a burning smell appeared out of the rear of the car. after stopping, then turning right, a loud noise was heard at the rear end. after arriving home, an inspection showed leaked fluid all around the underside rear end. after taking it to a mechanic, they determined that the differential pinion nut had come loose, which damaged the pinion seal, and required a differential overhaul.
2012 dodge durango has history of starting and stalling problem. while vehicle was under warranty, it would stall right after you start it. the dealer performed fuel pump relay recall, and problem was not fixed. the next dealer remove the external fuel pump relay and replaced tipm, problem was still not fixed. dealer then re-completed the fuel pump relay recall, problem still not fix. now the vehicle is stalling while driving down the road and seems to happen when you turn the steering wheel. there is a recall for this issue (t36) but dodge is saying that my vehicle does not qualify for that recall. this is a very dangerous issue and is can/will lead to a vehicle accident when we can't control the vehicle going down the highway as it keeps shutting off.
Transfer case switches from awd to awd low on its own which can cause a accident on the highway. the transfer case will not switch to awd low when button is engaged. this is a known problem that all the owners are experiencing of your vehicle. there should be a recall for this problem.

On 10/15/19 i was returning my vehicle to lustine chrysler jeep dodge in woodbridge, va for engine knocking and transmission thumping when (i'm pretty sure i hit a bump on the highway) and the whole electronic dashboard flicker very fast and the vehicle accelerated on its own. i arrived at the dealership, they verified a malfunction code and sent me home to return another day because they didn't have any loaner vehicle to give me. i have loud engine knocking, thumping transmission and the ac blower didn't work october 1, 2019.
It goes into 4low without turning the switch on. makes it unsafe to turn sharp and fast. we replaced the transfer case switch and it still does it.
Vehicle is switching into 4wd low while in motion. i have also heard the actuator activating while the vehicle is not running and without the key in the ignition. i believe this to be an electrical issue based on research that appears to be happening in multiple vehicles for dodge. i am concerned that the system could change into 4wd or 4wd lock at a highway speeds causing dangerous and unsafe driving conditions.
