Problems with 2014 Dodge Durango UNKNOWN OR OTHER

On average, the 2014 Dodge Durango starts to “feel” problems with the UNKNOWN OR OTHER and its various aspects after 61 347 miles.

Recently reported UNKNOWN OR OTHER problems on 2014 Dodge Durango

I get water in my tail lights. i guess you can drain it out but it doesn't stop the issue. i found others online with similar issue check you tube! i'm not sure when this problem started as i recently noticed it

I was driving and my sunroof window exploded.

Rear taillight led bar went out after water entered the light bar through small openings and defective weather stripping. the lights on the durango are not sealed good enough to prevent water from entering. the light and the rear camera stopped working for the same reason. this is a defect that originated during production and can cause an accident. the consumer should not be responsible for replacing these parts every couple months because of water damage

Drivers seat active headrest internal plastic parts failed and deployed the headrest and hit my wife in the back of the head while driving. lucky she wasn't in heavy traffic or turning when it happened. upon my further inspection the active system was still intact. the plastic parts failed violently releasing the headrest.

Active head restraint deployed on drivers side 2 years ago, last month passenger side deployed. in both cases deployment was noticed upon entering stationary vehicle.

Just purchased a 2014 dodge durango limited. had it one week and a portion of the race track lighting on the rear of the vehicle has went out. it appears water has gotten into the lighting housing. this appears to be a major issue with that lighting system, as complaints are all over the internet about it. problem now is eventually it will short out the entire backend lights including the running lights and brake lights creating a major safety issue. to replace the part is over $1,000 which makes it difficult for the consumer to fix. its not acceptable that this part is failing so quickly on dodge products with that style lighting and isn't an affordable fix. i am concerned driving my vehicle since i have no idea when it will completely short out. dodge should fix the problem that is causing the lighting to accumulate water and short out. a few defective lights is understandable but the amount of people complaining about having the same problems shows it really needs recalled.

I have water in my left rear tail light assembly located on the back lift gate, several other similar dodge durango vehicle appears to have this same problems dealers want $1000 to fix i checked the internet this should be a recall

The ac in our car just stopped working. we went to an independent car repair shop to find out that the ac compressor works and that there are 100% no leaks in the system. can't find the issue even tho we went there twice. they told us that it turns on just fine and wants to work but doesn't blow cold air.

A police officer was backing into a parking spot when the driver side headrest popped open and struck him in the face. the headrest is designed to open on impacts to reduce whiplash and no collision had occurred nor was there any existing damage to warrant this device actuating. chrysler was notified due to this expense not being covered under warranty and expressed no concern or culpability regarding this issue.

Rear backup lamp light bar assembly is leaking water. water visibly observed in light bar and causing led's to fade. had it resealed by dealership continued to leak and now light bar has completely failed and no longer turns on, this is a major safety concern as well due to license plate light no longer functioning as well. vehicle is scheduled to go in for repairs regarding a failed light bar and safety issue.

I pulled into the driveway, placed the car in park, left the vehicle running, and went into the house. i was inside the house less than 10 minutes when a neighbor knocked on the door stating a vehicle crashed into her house. we immediately turned the vehicle off to prevent any other damage to the house. we contacted the police dept for a report. once the report was completed by police, a tow truck was contacted to remove the vehicle. when the vehicle was turned on to engage the transmission, the officers found the transmission was in the parked status. we believe the vehicle rolled into the neighboring house even though the car was in park. dodge has been contacted and an investigation has been requested to validate the mechanical integrity of the vehicle. *dt*jb *dt*jb

Race track lighting and tailgate has condensation building up and water standing in it. this is the second time it has happened. first time was covered under warranty and this one is not.

Heat is blowing hot on drivers side and cold on passenger side.

Water has entered the "racetrack" lighting assembly on the rear liftgate causng parts of it to not function.

Once i reached my destination i proceeded to back into my designated parking spot, my vehicle engine remained running, but the car would not move. i put the gear into drive, it would not move, i put it into to park, then back to reverse and it still would not go back or forward. i turn the engine off and on several times before shifting it back into gear, still none of these things prevailed. after about 10 mins of the above actions, i was able to reverse the car into position. i have not tried to move it since.

The gps system on my vehicle provides inaccurate information that may cause accidents easily. i have been having issues with my radio/computer unit it will state im in different location or in the middle of nowhere it will direct me to turn in places there is no road. this is a serious issue as i use my navigation a lot now i have to use my phone as im scarred to use this unit. sometimes it will just not turn on when i start the vehicle. the screen will sometimes pp up a message that states my vehicle phone needs assistance contact dealer but we all know the dealers suck as i have went in 3 times now just to talk to someone to find out what the issue is and they just tell me its different issues and get the run around for it to not be fixed. not sure on exact time but around june started noticing the issue.

I have 2 active recalls on this vehicle, they are t59, brake booster water shield may have been incorrectly installed, and p67, occupant restraint control (orc) module may develop an internal fault. i have 1 active campaign on this vehicle, it is u06, autopark functionality. i just purchased this vehicle on june 23rd, 2018 at performance dodge la vista, nebraska. i was informed by the performance dodge la vista, nebraska service department that the recalls were performed, and not reported, due to lack of personnel in the recalls reporting department. meanwhile, i drive a new/used vehicle, wondering if the dealership actually addressed the open recalls, and campaign on my vehicle, with my safety at risk. this is highly unacceptable, it is now september 16th, 2018, and the recalls, and campaign are still outstanding on my vehicle. i am looking to you for assistance in this matter. i am also worried if the work was not actually completed, and just reported as complete by the dealership, the thought of this is frightening, again, since my safety, and that of my family, is at risk when operating this vehicle. thank you for listening, and i hope to hear from you regarding a resolution to this matter soon. good day, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Drivers side head restraint functioned /deployed for no reason, causing a blow to the back of the head, hurting and disorienting the driver while the vehicle was in motion,

The touch screen works part of the time and other times not. also air works sometimes and not other times, sometimes half the car is cold while at the same temp the other half of the car is hot air from the vent. also the seat set up does not keep settings.

Water collecting on both sides of the race track tail lights on my 2014 dodge durango

While on a road trip in cold weather, my car's main control center screen blacked out. it had the phrase "please insert updated usb". i googled this issue. many people said they had a usb stick to put in and it worked. i bought my car new and it did not come with a stick. i took the car to the dealership to get an update. they said it would be $45. instead they are telling me it didn't work and i need a whole new radio at $335 plus install. so because of a radio update my day trip was ruined, because my heat and air was not working! after googling this issue it seems to be a huge problem with dodge/jeeps. why are they not taking care of this issue without the expense going onto the customer?!!!

While started and parked and sitting in driver seat, tried to put down middle row headrests via the computer dashboard. it did not work, and then driver side headrest popped out. shop claims it's cosmetic and not electrical. headrest latch is broken and needs to be replaces $802 parts and labor. i believe it's 1) electrical & 2)(second place on complaint) poor headrest construction. approx date of incident listed.

Vehicle was shifted into park, but running, in my driveway. got out to let passengers out. turned around to get back in and car started driving itself forward, almost hitting my child. managed to jump in and stop it after it hit my husband's car with the open driver door. the shifter knob has moved itself into the drive position and actually shifted gears without the brake being pressed.

The rear sensor beeps non stop even though there is nothing behind it. i took it to the dealer and they said that they couldn't diagnose it even though i sent them a video to show them what i had been dealing with. i have also been dealing with the key fob, every time i go to lock my car it beeps once to lock and after the first beep it beeps 3 times and then unlocks my car. when the car is on and i go to open the driver side door, even with the key in the car, the car beeps and tells me the key fob is not in the vehicle. the race track light was beginning to fog up and with time we started to notice that it was filling up with moisture. it filled up to about and 1" and we managed to release the water but part of the race track light is burned out now. i still have the warranty but the dealer said that those lights are not covered and the pricing would range from $1000-$1200 to fix.

Vehicle rolled backwards after being placed in park, with ignition off, on small sloped driveway multiple times.

Electronic shifter/ placed in park while engine was on / was in the driveway of our home and shifted into drive automatically moved forward and caused damage to vehicle and garage. ( was reported to the insurance company/ adjuster has completed the damage to both vehicle and home).

First issue is sometimes when driving the car appears to be accelerating and the speed mph gauge will go up but the car is actually not going past a certain speed and is stuck in second gear. second sometimes while driving the car feels like the brakes are being applied on their own third if the passenger door is opened and closed while the vehicle is running the prompt 'the fob has left the vehicle' appears when you start driving. battery in the fob has been replaced multiple times fourth the ac and heater do not work just circulates air. never ever worked!!! thought i was maybe using the wrong controls but i've read that manual a million times and it's not human error

After starting the vehicle in my garage, i needed to go back into the house to get something. i shifted the car to park to exit the vehicle, the vehicle was still running. when i exited the vehicle the car proceeded to roll backwards out of the garage. the garage is on level ground. i attempted to get back into the car to press the brake. i was unsuccessful, and was dragged out of the garage. after being dragged through the garage i ended up partially under the car, i let go of the car and rolled away not to be ran over by the still moving car. i then got up and ran after the car that was going down my decline driveway. when i got into the moving car i applied the brake and shifted the car from "drive" to "park". there was significant damage done to the drivers side of the car. the garage door/frame was damaged as well. i had injuries that required an ambulance.

This actually happened about 4 months ago. i was at the post office dropping off mail outside in the mailbox in my car. i dropped a piece of mail on the ground. i put my car in park and got out of my car. my car began to roll forward, i was able to get in and place my foot on the brake. my door hit the mailbox. later i went to the dealer to get a quote to fix my door and told them what happened. they said i must have never put it in park. they wanted $1000 to fix a little scratch and dent on the door. i decide not to fix it. today i noticed the possible recall, thought i should mention this. i'm not looking for a response. than you for your time.

Our durango will just completely go haywire (display screen, lights - interior, dash, and exterior lights, the 3rd row head rests will automatically go down, doors lock/unlock) and shut down while in motion. all power goes out and the vehicle becomes impossible to regain control.

On wednesday, january 27, 2016 i backed our newly purchased used 2014 dodge durango into our garage, turned it off and went into my house. the vehicle then started on its own so i went out and pressed the button to turn it off. when i returned inside my house, this occurred two more times (the vehicle started & i went out to the garage to turn it off). this is particularly troubling as the vehicle does not have remote start. i immediately contacted the dealer service representative and scheduled an appointment. i have been informed that while many software issues were updated and corrected, no definitive cause as to why the vehicle self started was found. now i am afraid to park in my garage, because what if we failed hear this durango self start & ended dead from carbon monoxide poisoning? have other similar complaints been reported and investigated? what is our recourse to fix this problem?

Vehicle rolled out of park on boat launch, totally submerging vehicle for a total loss.

Anti-theft system activated upon exiting vehicle and key fob became desensed due to rf interference in area. dash display indicated that "key fob not recognized". car has keyless start button and could not be started. all functions on key fob were not operational. roadside towing assistance had to be requested.

The car is making an annoying "whining noise/hum" when driving. as the speed increases so does the noise. i have had the 2014 durango citadel (v6) 2 years and have approximately 16,000 miles on it. i started to notice the noise around 12,000 miles. the tires are inflated at the recommended tire pressure and have been recently rotated. this has had no effect on the level of noise. i spoke to another owner of the dodge 2014 durango citadel and he is having the same problem. he mentioned that on a recent service at the dodge dealer they asked him if he was experiencing any noise in the drive train. i will be following up with my dealer tomorrow.

The gps system on my vehicle provides inaccurate information that may cause accidents easily. the first time i noticed this issue, i was using the vehicle gps and it asked me to turn right when i turned, the was no road so i nearly hit the curb. even though i have never being to texas before, my vehicle has resisted locations in texas and other location that makes this issue outrageous. i have seen several report of this online with dodge and jeep but fca seems not to do anything about it as their analyst did not have any idea what i was talking about. the gps information provided on my vehicle is totally wrong and for that matter i have stopped using it. i called dodge once and they tried to reset the gps which did not work and so they advice me to go to the dealer to have it checked but the closest dealer to me told me that they cannot look at it because the vehicle was not purchased from them. one other thing is that the issue affects the time on the vehicles making the time literally go back sometimes. once, i observed the clock move back from 12:05pm to 11:49am. after reading several reviews online, it was realized that the issue was with the uconnect system meaning that the issue is affecting all or some vehicles from fiat chrysler of america. please investigate this because this can easily cost someone their life for a gps to assume wrong location. this issues is an ongoing issue so i just placed a date in the when it happened field.

Rollaway accident. in 2015 i had an accident where my vehicle rolled out of my driveway. i was not in the vehicle. the vehicle was in park and emergency brake was placed on. i contacted fodge about the issue and they said that althiugh the parking brake lighy may have been on that if the brake was not depressed.completely to the ground the brake was not engaged.

Vehicle on board control panel constantly malfunctions, with the screen going black after ignition. system will remain inaccessible for prolonged period of time and will increase air temp to 75 degrees, with no way to stop or change air output. on board/uconnect connectivity continuously lost with no phone/communication access available (i.e., center light on rear view will be red most times). have taken vehicle to multiple dodge dealerships for repair, but repair shops claim to be unable to find a problem. problem began after first system update.

Wife went to start up vehicle and it would not crank over.called aaa for a jump. it crank and started with a rattle can sound.i came home to verify sound. it did such sound as she explained. i'm a mechanic and removed valve cover to check for rocker damage none found. i removed intake and found water in #7and #8 cylinder.i looked at seals on intake and found not installed properly. the seals were not square in bores of intake. i have not removed oil pan but i suspect connecting rods bent on start up. i need to know if dodge new about this issue. i did do a coolant pressure test and it held fine with no leaks. was there a recall on the intake which destroyed my wife's engine. *tr

Shortly after 1st acquiring the 2014 dodge durango r/t awd an exhaust smell filling the cabin was noticeable after acceleration and steadily traveling between 40-45 mph w/the front and rear air conditioning units on recirculation. the occurrence was repeatable and noticeable by my spouse and children while riding in the durango. it was brought to the purchasing dealership multiple times for the exhaust leak but ultimately they could not determine the origination or cause; they attempted a software update. the dodge durango was brought to another dealership where the rear cabin air exhausters and lift gate grommets were replaced to no avail. the 2nd dealership ultimately advised they do not know how or why the exhaust is entering the interior cabin and have labeled the exhaust leak as a smell. a non-feasible vehicle replacement has been offered. documentation of the exhaust leak issue is available for further review. the dodge durango has not been modified.
