Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. when the contact attempted to fill the gas tank, fuel would spill back out. he took the vehicle to the repair shop and it was discovered that the fuel tank inlet check valve failed. the dealer stated that his vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly). the failure and current mileages were 51,000.

Our 2005 dodge durango gas talk overflows when filling. after researching on the issue i discovered there is a recall on models made the month prior to ours. after contacting the local service center, i was told to call the dodge corp. only to have them tell me that it was not covered and there was nothing they could help me with. this is an issue that on every fillup covers the side of the vehicle and the ground with up to quart, possible more of gasoline. i did attempt to call the company another time to correct this hoping to reach another individual that might help. i was allowed to talk with a floor supervisor who once again assured me that since my vehicle was not included in the recall there was nothing they could do. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that when refueling the vehicle, gasoline would spew back out from the filler tube, similar to the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 07v426000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly). both the dealer and manufacturer were contacted and advised that the contacts vin was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the current mileage was 67,000 and the failure mileage was 50,000. updated 4/01/11*bf the consumer stated he is able to provide video footage of the fuel spilling out of the filler tube. it occurs on almost every time the consumer fills the vehicle. each spill over flows approximately 1/2 gallon of fuel on the ground. updated 07/29/11

Fuel spews out of filler neck when tank is filled. dodge said i would have to pay for the repair, about $700, then i could request that dodge reimburse me, but they did not expect me to be successful. other 2005 dodge durangos were recalled for the same problems, but my vin was not included in the recall. *tr

Gas overflow problem when filling up 2005 dodge durango limited. if i try to fill up my gas tank, i get splattered with gasoline, there was a recall for this problem relating to 2005 dodge durango, but my vin does not match the recall. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. when the contact placed fuel into the vehicle, gasoline would spill back out. she took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the fuel neck failed. the vin was excluded from nhtsa campaign id number 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline: storage: tank assembly). a report was filed with the manufacturer and they replaced the fuel tank for free; however, she had to pay a $100 dollar deductible. she feels that the manufacturer should also be responsible for the deductible. the current and failure mileages were 18,000. updated 6/9/09 *cn the dealer informed the consumer the fuel tank failed and they would absorb 75% of the cost. the fuel tank was replaced and the consumer paid a $100.00 deductible. updated 06/10/09.*jb

My 2005 dodge durango spill gas whenever it near the end of filling creating a major fire hazard also now when ever i am coming to a stop of a slow down the vehicle stalls which kills the power steering and brakes. totally unsafe and when you call chrysler they say there is no problem. i am not going to pay for repairs that are clearly recall items. the web is littered with the same complaints and no one cares. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact noticed that the fuel tank filler tube inlet check valve does not fully close at the end of refueling, which allows some fuel to escape from the filler neck. the dealer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap); therefore, they would not assume partial financial responsibility for the repair. the vehicle was repaired according to the remedy referenced in the recall. the failure mileage was 52,000 and current mileage was 53,644.

Fuel tank inlet check valve is bad improper operation and fuel spit back during refueling. *tr

I have a 2005 dodge durango that i recently started having problems with. problem 1: when filling the fuel tank the pump does not automatically shut off and fuel comes shooting out the top of the tank. problem 2: when driving at night the instrument panel flickers on and off. i checked the nhtsa.gov website and found that there were recalls issued for both of these issues that i've experienced so i took my car to the dealer. the dealer said my vin is not covered under the recall and that i have to call chrysler. i contacted chrysler and was told that the dealer is unwilling to work for any discounts and that because my car is out of the warranty period they will not pay for any services. in both recall notices it states that these issues are both fire hazards and i don't feel that i should have to pay $1700 out of my own pocket to resolve them, as these are known issues with 2005 dodge durangos. please help! *tr

I own a 2005 dodge durango. fuel was overflowing on the driver's side of the vehicle. as he fills his tank with gas, fuel rushes to the top and spills onto the vehicle. the dealer stated that the failure was not covered under the warranty. *tr

When filling up vehicle, gas backflows out of gas tank at the end of fueling. has happened many times at different gas stations. there is a recall on truck model but my vin not included in recall. *tr

My 2005 dodge durango releases fuel back out of the fuel filler when ever i fill up i do not top off dodge has a recall for some of their durangos of this year and make but they say mine is not included this is very dangerous with the fumes and liquid coming out of my filler neck. when i contacted dodge they stated i should see my dealer about the problem .it seems the problem goes further then they are admitting and i want them to fix the problem

Recently i have noticed that when i fill up my 2005 dodge durango with gas, that when it is full and the pump stops, gas comes gushing out of the tank. i have asked dodge if there is a recall because that is what i heard and they told me no. i did find the recall info on this web site and i want to know if my vin is covered. i have two small children and i want this fixed before something serious happens. please let me know what is going on... *tr

I have a 2005 dodge durango and have the problem with fuel splashing out when i fill the tank. there is a current recall on similar vehicles, yet the dodge.com website says my vin is not included. this situation is very worrisome. i appreciate your help. thanks! *tr

2005 dodge durango slt 5.7l hemi... when filling up with fuel, check valve does not seem to close properly causing fuel to spray out all over the truck, pump, and person refueling. it occurs at every fill unless you fill the tank only to 3/4 full. *tr

Whenever i fill up the gas tank the gas will come spewing out after it fills up. the first time it happened it got all over my clothes, shoes and side of the car. thought it was a fluke with the station, but it happens everywhere i go. happens everytime i fill up. took it to a dealer because i heard about a recall but was told mine was not covered under the recall and would cost nearly 800 dollars to fix. i don't think so. this kind of problem should not happen. phoned "customer service" at dodge/chrysler and was also given the same story about it not being in the recall. this is unacceptable. *tr

When fueling 2005 dodge durango the fuel pump clicks off and then a couple seconds later the fuel shoots out of the filler neck of durango,.. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. while adding fuel to vehicle the contact noticed gasoline escaping whenever the fuel tank was full. there was nhtsa recall campaign number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly) which could be related to the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated the vin was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Bought a 2005 dodge durango and checking recalls found that the problem i have with refuel overfilling was recalled. i contacted the dodge dealership and was told my vehicle was not part of the recall. however i could change it for a charge. every single time i fill up, i must watch and stop it before it is full or gas spurts out all over the area. this is definitely a fire hazard. i feel i should not have to pay for a problem that is being recalled. *tr

My 2005 dodge durango has gas spill out when it is filled up. the only way to prevent is to not completely fill the tank. this happens at all gas stations. why is dodge not honoring to fix this problem before there is a fire and somebody does get hurt? *tr

Fuel spillage regular occurrence. the tank says i am on nearly on empty, i go to the station and "fill up" the problem comes in when i get close to the end. vent seems to prevent fuel tank to be filled and it spills all over side of vehicle. it sounds a rushing noise pump nozzle clicks and gas goes everywhere. i have contacted the dealership and they act like they have no idea this would happen. after reading complaints online i am not alone. http://www.fixya.com/cars/t592484-fuel_overflow_recall_2005_durango#sameproblemcontinued i am told that it probably needs a new fuel tank by the dealer, i type in my vin and it says it is not included in recall. i am thinking the same issue that causes the check valve not to close also causes it to close or stick closed as well. i am afraid that one day the fuel that splashes back will get in my eye or cause other issues like a fire. i first thought it may be a pump issue but it has happened to me at nearly every station i have went to. i am also curious how a 26 gallon tank can never take more than 20 gallons, i realize that there is a reserve but 6 gallons? please help me and the others listed on the link i included. we can't all be crazy this is a widespread issue. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that while refueling the vehicle, gasoline fuel would spew from the filler neck before the tank was able to be filled. the failure had been an ongoing recurrence for two years. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or mechanic for the failure. the local dealer was contacted and advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall relative to the failure under nhtsa campaign id number: 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 55,000 and the current mileage was 73,200. updated05/04/11 *bf updated 11/18/11. *jb

When filling up gas tank fuel backflows out , splashing on my face and clothes. this problem occurs every time you try to fill the tank full. i have not yet fixed the problem was told by the dealership that it was a inlet check valve/ fuel tank assembly. the cost of the repairs is around $1000 . i feel this should be covered by chrysler!!!! *tr

Gasoline spills from the filler neck when tank becomes full at the end of the fuel filling operation. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact stated that fuel was overflowing on the driver's side of the vehicle. as he fills his tank with gas, fuel rushes to the top and spills onto the vehicle. the dealer stated that the failure was not covered under the warranty. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 90,000.

2005 dodge durango: when fueling the vehicle to full the vehicle spits gas back at you and this isn't a small amount either. this occurs mostly when fueling the vehicle to full. this has happened since we purchased the vehicle in december 2008. there is a recall number: 09v003000 and 05v034000; chrysler claims my vehicle had the recalled performed, but i think they never fixed the problem. *tr

Gas gushes out of the fill nozzle of my 2005 dodge durango ltd spraying the vehicle, ground, gas pump and myself with gasoline. i bought this vehicle used , jan. 3, 2009, and this has occurred everytime that i fill up with gas, no matter how slowly the delivery rate of the pump. i contacted dodge customer service and was told that since the recall was performed in december of 2004 and my vehicle is not covered by any subsequent incidents and were not interested in any environmental or safety issues that i was having. *tr

Gas over flows all over me and ground when filling. *tr

About a month ago my, after filling up our durango, it sprayed fuel all over my wife. it seems every time we fill up our truck, fuel sprays all over. i researched this issue on he internet and found out a recall was issued: 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline storage tank assembly filler pipe and cap), but my durango vin was not covered in this recall when i called my local dealer. it's a very dangerous problem. *tr

When putting gasoline into my tank, gas will shoot out of the tank periodically throughout the process.. i estimate that approximately 4-5 cups of gas end up on the ground, on my feet, and on my clothes. it will continually spew out unless i barely depress the fill up arm at the pump. this results in not only gasoline over the ground and myself, but it will often take me about 30 minutes to fill my tank. i contacted chrysler/dodge customer care and was told that my vehicle was not included in a recall that was for the same problem and same year model. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. while adding fuel to the vehicle, the gas tank began losing fuel. the failure occured numerous times while adding fuel to it's capacity. nhtsa campaign id #'s 09v003000 and 05v034000 are related to the failure; however, the vin is not. the contact is aware of the safety risk during a fuel leak. the current mileage was 58,900 and failure mileage was 57,000.

When i fill of the gas tank it overflows after shut off. has happened about 7 times. on january 26, 2009 dodge filed a notice of defect on this problem but the company and the dealers say my car is not included in the recall. *tr

I own a 2005 dodge durango with 5.7 lt. hemi.. every time i put fuel in the vehicle gas sprays out onto the ground. i did some research on the problem and found that there was a recall for this problem.. i took the vehicle to a dodge dealer to have this issue addressed. the dealership ran the vin and advised me that. the gas spillage issue can be resolved but it will not be covered by dodge because the vin does not fall into the recall range.....i called dodge and advised them of the problem only to receive no help. *tr

Fuel tank spillage in dodge durango 2005. when filling up the tank gas spews out after gas is turned off. my vehicle is not included in the prior recall but has the exact same problem. reported this problem a year ago and have not heard anything. *tr

Gas overflow when tank is filled. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. when the contact filled the gas tank, the pump would shut off with a second delay and fuel would 'spit' back out. the failure occurred everytime gasoline was placed in the vehicle. the dealer advised her to have the vehicle inspected for nhtsa campaign id number 05v034000, but later stated that her vin was excluded and could not be repaired according to the recall. the manufacturer could not assist. the current mileage was approximately 66,700 and failure mileage was approximately 60,000. updated 06/24/09. *lj updated 06/26/09.*jb

While filling up the fuel tank (every time), fuel pours (shoots) out through the filler neck once the tank is filled. fuel either rushes out and down the outside of the vehicle or it squirts out dangerously with a significant amount of force. researching this problem, i have found an official recall from dodge for 2005 durangos, but calls to dodge and inquiries on their website indicate that my particular vehicle is not covered. this is a dangerous situation that could easily lead to fire, etc. as you can imagine, i am reluctant to fill up my vehicle while my children are in the car due to the increased risk of spilled gasoline on the car, sidewalk and sometimes all the way to the pump itself. i have read that you were able to help others with this ongoing problem and i am asking for your help in this matter and sincerely appreciate your consideration. this is my second submission as i have not heard back from you when i initially submitted this complaint. *tr

Fuel spit back when filling gas tank. just started within the week. it happened the last two times i filled my tank. i assume it has a bad roll over valve or fill limit vent valve. i called the dealer and he thought it was the roll over valve and would be approx. $250 to fix. 2005 dodge durango w/hemi - 48,539 miles. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. whenever the contact fills the fuel tank, gasoline sprays out of the tank. the fuel nozzle stops when the tank is full, but fuel still sprays out of the tank. the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer for inspection. the technician discovered nhtsa campaign id number 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage;tank assembly;filler pipe and cap); however, the vin was not included although the failures were identical. the failure and current mileages were 65,000. updated 01/09/09.*lj updated 01/09/09*jb

2005 dodge durango gasoline spurts (several ounces) from the tank filling port when fuel tank is full and the nozzle clicks off. this defect began to appear at approx 65,000 miles. although there are existing recalls for the same defect on other 2005 dodge durangos, this vehicle is not covered. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. whenever the contact fills the fuel tank, gasoline sprays out of the tank. the fuel nozzle stops when the tank is full, but fuel still sprays out of the tank. the contact discovered nhtsa campaign id number 05v034000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage;tank assembly;filler pipe and cap). the vin was not included although the failures were identical. the vehicle has not been repaired. the failure mileage was 41,000 and current mileage was 44,000. updated 2/5/09 *cn updated 02/10/09. *jb

When filling up at any gas station, the pump will not automatically shut off and gasoline shoots out of the filler neck. a significant amount shoots out under pressure. this occurs every time that i fill up for approximately the last ten fill ups. there are two recall campaigns regarding this exact issue, yet chrysler denies my claim on the basis that my vin is not included in either campaign. i spoke to the nhtsa office of defects investigation today, and they recommended contacting the state's attorney general and the federal trade commission. presently there are over 40 other outstanding complaints with the nhtsa regarding this exact issue. it appears that chrysler is shirking its responsibility to repair this very dangerous safety issue. by the way, it is chrysler alone that determines the applicable vin numbers. *tr

The filler tube inlet check valve not fully close and allows fuel to escape from the vehicle filler neck. there is a recall on this but when i call they said my vin number was not covered for this recall. nhtsa campaign number: 05v034000. this has been happening since the beginning of december everytime i fill my tank. *tr

My 2005 dodge durango has a problem described in the following recalls by the nhtsa: 05v034000 and 09v003000. i contacted the dodge dealership where i bought my vehicle and they told me there was not a recall on my vin, to contact dodge corporation. dodge corporation verified that my durango was not part of the recall, yet it has the 'spit back' problem described in the recall. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. when the contact filled up the vehicle with fuel, gasoline would shoot out of the fuel tank. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 09v003000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly). the contact feels that this is a major safety issue because a fire could occur. the current mileage was 75,000 and failure mileage was 65,000.

Whenever i fill my vehicle with gasoline it sprays back out of the tank. this started to occur in november and happens every time i fill it. it was repaired at a dodge dealer by replacing the gas tank. they said there was a recall back in 2005 for this and again in 2009 but was told my car was included. *tr updated 03/03/09. *jb

There was no lead up, the gas tank just started overflowing and it would not shut off the automatic shut off on the gas pump when fueling the tank. it happens everytime that we fill up using the automatic shut off feature on a gas pump. the result is several ounces (just a guess, but it is a lot) of gasoline running down the side of the truck, onto the ground and even splashing onto an unsuspecting truck owner. we took the truck into our dealer and they said that there was a recall for certain vins of this vehicle type, but ours is not part of the recall, even though it was manufactured in the same year as the recall vehicles. the estimate for a new fuel tank is around $800 and of course the warranty went void a few thousand miles prior to the malfunction we are experiencing. if dodge knows there are problems on some of the trucks in the same year that ours was manufactured and nothing was done to correct the defect, how can they not be liable for fixing this problem?? dodge is not willing to fix and i believe this is a safety issue that they know about, but refuse to fix in regards to all of the trucks affected. it seems as if no change was made to the fuel tank design that they admit was wrong in vehicles of the same make, just a few months older. how is that ethical? any help would be appreciated. thanks. *tr

While filling up the fuel tank (every time), fuel pours out through the filler neck once the tank is filled. depending upon the type of fuel pump being used, fuel either rushes out and down the outside of the vehicle or it squirts out dangerously with a significant amount of force. researching this problem, i have found an official recall from dodge for 2005 durangos, but calls to dodge and inquiries on their website indicate that my particular vehicle is not covered. this is a dangerous situation that could easily lead to fire, etc. as you can imagine, i am reluctant to fill up my vehicle while my children are in the car due to the increased risk of spilled gasoline on the car, sidewalk and sometimes all the way to the pump itself. i have read that you were able to help others with this ongoing problem and i am asking for your help in this matter and sincerely appreciate your consideration. *tr
