I purchased a 2005 dodge durango brand new,and since i had this vehicle it has been given me problems. there were recalls on this vehicle. the vehicle idled very hard, and it shut off when it idled hard, while sitting at a traffic light or when turning to go around a ramp. when shutting off the wheel locked, and i could not control the car. recently, the care shut off on the new jersey turnpike and a tractor trailer truck was behind me. luckily, i was in the outer lane and managed to steer the car to the shoulder before the truck could hit me and my family. this was very dangerous. last incident happened on une 10, 2007. every time i took the car to the dealer they determined there was no problem. *ak

I have a 2005 dodge durango 4.7l and when filling the gas tank the gas splashes out when the pump shuts off. even when pumping slowly it still comes out of the filler neck and onto the ground. if pumping faster it tends to shoot up and out. this is a hazard and needs to be fixed asap.there is a recall out for this problem on the 2005 durango but mine is not one of the vin numbers that qualifies. the dealer says the entire gas tank needs to be replaced due to the check valve getting stuck and not closing properly. i have read several forum sites where other people have the same issue and chrysler is not replacing those parts. *tr

Fuel overflows when getting gas. we took the car into dodge three times before they put a new gas tank in car. *tr

I took my suv in for service as it was not running smoothly and had trouble changing gears.dodge made alterations and returned it .shortly after that it stalled out while driving & the check engine light came on. the reading indicated problems with the 02 sensor. after hesitation, dodge replaced my o2 sensor and said the stall out was not related to the check engine light coming on, it didn't stall when they drove it, so they did not consider it a problem. days later it stalled out & the check engine light came on again. when i returned the truck to dodge, they got back the same read as before and said it needed a software update.a week later the check engine light came on then the truck stalled out during operation.i took it back to dodge, they contacted daimlerchrysler who had them check the exhaust for leaks.a pinhole leak was found and sealed & they reset the check engine light.after about 200 miles, the check engine light reappeared, the next day it stalled out again.they did more testing for exhaust leaks, said they found another pinhole leak and sealed the entire exhaust.once again, after a couple days of driving, it stalled out in motion, 2 days later, it stalled out again, then finally the check engine light came back on.when i returned it to dodge, the service manager said he would not work on the truck, he would call dahmlerchrysler for them to send a tech out to look at it and he put me in another rental car.two days after that, i got a call from dodge saying, an unnamed source told them they should rig the lines to block airflow to the fuel line by putting piping inside the existing lines to stop the truck from stalling. although he said, "but if you tell anyone i told you to do this, i will deny ever telling you to do it!" so dodge rigged my lines and told me i needed to pick it up as dahmlerchrysler would not approve any more rental for me.this is how they want me to currently drive the vehicle.sounds too dangerous for me, can you please help!!

My 2005 dodge durango mfg date 9/04 was not part of the e01 recall and has the same problem with fuel 'well back". *tr

Dt: the vehicle stalled intermittently. the problem occurred at least three time per week while driving at low speeds or while idling at a stop light/sign. the rpm gauge goes up then falls to 0, and car dies. service dealer stated they can not duplicate the problem and suggested that the consumer use a higher octane gas. they also suggested that vehicle may have bad gasoline, and it is working its way through the system. *ak *nm

Ever since i purchased my 2005 dodge durango in may, 2005, i have been unable to completely fill the gas tank. while attempting to fill the tank, the gas gets backed up in the stem to the tank, and it shuts off the gas pump. this makes it virtually impossible to tell when the gas tank is truly full or if it is just backed up in the filler stem to the tank. i brought the vehicle in for service to the dealer where i purchased it, and was told there was an "e-vamp" leak in the tank. this was fixed and i was told the tank was also fixed and ready for normal filling. as soon as i left the dealer, i tried to fill the tank, but it was not fixed. i immediately informed the service person, who was still there. i again brought the vehicle in for service, and the fuel tank was replaced. (after bringing the service technician for a ride to the gas pump so he could see what the problem was.) the vehicle was given back to me with a new fuel tank, and the problem still exists. *jb

I have an 05 hemi durango limited with 3,300 miles on it. since new the vehicle has occassionally died when making low speed turns. the dealer has informed me that the pcm flash provided by dodge has not corrected the problem and they are still working on a fix. overall the vehicle has stalled five times. i have also filed a similar complaint for my 05 ram 2500 with the hemi engine.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 dodge durango. the contact noticed that when fueling the vehicle, gasoline fuel would spew back out onto her clothing. the dealer was contacted but did not offer the contact any assistance. the manufacturer advised the contact to take the vehicle to a local dealer for diagnostic testing. no repairs were performed nor was the vehicle diagnosed for the failure. the current mileage was 97,000 and the failure mileage was 0.

Gas spurts and/or spills back out of the vehicle and onto the ground when trying to fill up the gas tank. the dealership replaced the filler tube, but that has not abated the problem.*ak

Dt: engine stalled about 5 different times while slowing down. she started vehicle and it died while she was sitting still. dealer did not know what the cause of the problem was, and they didn't know if it will be covered by the warranty. manufacturer has not been contacted yet.*ak update 11/15/05. *jb....contact complained about vehicle stalling. manufacturer's recall of fuel tank, and airbag light problem. in regard to stalling, the contact was told by the dealership that the stalling problem could not be repeated by service technicians and that no codes were available after computer diagnosis. then, was told to start vehicle when it stalls the next time and have it towed directly to the dealership. in this way, they would be able to obtain the code for the problem. also, they told the contact that the idle wasn't correct and they adjusted it appropriately. concerning the fuel tank recall, after recall service was performed, the fuel tank was replaced. finally the driver's side airbag light would come on and stay on during vehicle operation. the dealership investigated it and found a wire problem which they repaired. *ak

When filling up the gas tank on our 2005 durango gasoline pours out of the fuel tank filler neck when it is full. the dealership replaced the filler tube but that did not fix the problem. *ak

Gasoline shoots out of the fuel tank filler neck when the gas tank is filled up. *jb

Recall campaign 05v034000 concerning fuel tank filler. fuel spilled out of the filler neck when refueling to full. dealer was notified. *ak

Each time we fill the fuel tank of our 2005 dodge durango the tank over flows and fuel comes pouring out around the refueling nozzle and spills out onto the car and all over the ground. this is a potentially hazardous situation in that at least half a gallon of fuel that spiills out that could ignite and spread to the fuel tank and cause an explosion. fortuneately it is winter now, but in the summer the chances of fire and explosion are more likely. the car is a new model for dodge and i think this needs to be investigated immedialtey. i plan on contacting the dodge to identify the proplem with them. i'm sure they will not share with me if other durango owners are having a similar problem.*ak
