Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2004 Dodge Durango

I have found that my electrical system, specifically the alarm at the moment, fails periodically. the car has shut down while running before. took to dealership and was told that they could not duplicate. now the alarm is malfunctioning in that it goes off by itself the key won't shut it off, and turning the engine doesn't stop it either. further, the car is manufactured with a kill switch in the oem alarm. i have read many complaints similar to this on this vehicle with no satisfaction or acknowledgement from the manufacturer. i am the sole owner of this vehicle. the fact that the alarm/electrical system is oem and that the alarm can disable the engine poses a problem. the car recently fell out of warranty, admittedly, but the fact remains that there appears to be a letent defect in the alarm/electrical system that can be and is very dangerous. the first time the car shut off while driving my wife had our two small children aboard. luckily, she was on a surface street vice a highway at speed. the dealerships avows no knowledge of there being technical service bulletins (tsb) or the safety hazard this poses. the oem alarm problem hasn't caused any moving safety issues for me as i can tell, but since the car has shut off while in operation previously, i am drawing a novice conclusion that the two problems could be related. the alarm problem now is occuring daily several times a day. initially, the dealership insisted i buy a new reprogrammed key at over $200 to fix the problems. i believe that manufacturer tsb is 0802404. it is only a matter of time until someone is seriously injured or killed as a result of the shut off and possible alarm problems. check www.carcomplaints.com or www.dodgetalk.com to verify what i am saying as being a latent defect. *tr

Interior lights will not go out. heated seats will not work, air panel lights do not work. once vehicle has been shut off, i am able to turn off map lights after about 5 minutes. the light in the tailgate cannot be shut off at all. i have an appointment with minot chrysler on 19 feb, and was told they had same issue about 2 weeks ago, with another durango. i was told by them to disconnect the battery, and after reading about all of the vehicle fires, vehicle will not be driven again until resolved. they believe they know the cause, which will cost me about 600.00. unfortunate i have leased the vehicle, and am over the 3 year, 36000 mile warranty. vehicle now has about 42000 miles. also note, my lease is done on the 28th of march. *jb

My 2004 slt dodge durango was serviced for a routine oil change @42000 miles and the dealership did a routine point check evaluation. on feb. 10, 2007 @ 10:45 am while stopping at a traffic light, the vehicle began to lose speed before coming to a complete stop, the engine stopped responding & the panel lights started blinking on & off, then a burning smell started & smoke started to come out of the drivers panel and i exited the vehicle before physical harm could be done to me. i called 911 and they had the fire department to respond. my vehicle was completely engulfed with flames before they arrived. the entire interior of the vehicle was burned beyond recognition. it was extremely unnerving to be a part of this,i had not had any problems out of my vehicle before this horrible incident. it is just unthinkable to realize that i have been driving my two kids in my durango every day for the past 2 years and thanks to the lord above that they were at home on this morning, while i went to pick up the girl scout cookie orders for my daughter, which were in the back of the durango when it went up in smoke. this incident will financial impact my family greatly. the car is now a total loss. *jb

Tl*- the contact stated that while stopping at a stop light in the 2004 dodge durango with 38000 failure mileage, and attempting to accelerate, the vehicle completely lost power. the vehicle had to be restarted. also, the contact stated that while driving at 20 mph down a hill and attempting to make a turn he realized that the vehicle lost power. the vehicle had to be restarted. the vehicle has not been repaired. *ak

Instrument panel fire in 2004 dodge durango. dome lights came on and stayed on. took to dealer who diagnosed instrument panel computer malfunction. did not replace, left dealer. within 10 minutes, instrument panel started on fire and vehicle burned to ground. *jb

We bought our durango in april 2006. it is a 2004 and just reached 40,000 miles. today when we drove it the dome lights came on like always when we got in the car, but then they never turned off. we thought maybe our switch or something was bad. we got home and parked it, then about 20 minutes later, we went to get into it and ....it was filled with smoke. the whole front of our car is burned...the dash, the windshield, the seats, the ceiling is all burned and hanging down with the wires all melted and burned. we are so lucky this didn't happen to us when we were in it, or that it didn't reach the gas tank and explode. we think probably the lack of oxygen inside of the car killed the fire before the whole car was burnt to the ground. anyway, i have no idea what to do. i am calling our insurance in the morning, but i can't help but think after researching the internet tonight and reading so many of these exact same reports that this is a dodge issue. i would be grateful to hear back from you . thanks. *nm

An instrument cluster circuit board capacitor caused the dome lights to remain on and the battery to die. there is a recall for this but my vin is not included in recall number c43. *jb

Tl*- the contact stated that the 2004 dodge durango lost power on 01/05/07. the contact stated that while coming to a stop the engine stalled. the brakes didn't engage when the vehicle lost power. this happened during an evening in which the road conditions were dry and clear. last summer when the failure occurred, he contact the dealership, and was told that since the engine light didn't appear there was nothing they could do to the vehicle. the contact stated that he filed a complaint with the manufacturer ,and they came to inspect the vehicle and found nothing wrong with the vehicle. the contact case # for dodge manufacturers is # 15848035 and this case was done on 01/08/07. the contact found a defect investigation with nhtsa action# ea05018. updated 03/02/07.*jb

Tl* - the contact has a 2004 dodge durango with an odometer reading of 43000 miles on it when the instrument panel caught on fire. the contact stated that on 1-4-06 while driving at 15 mph the lights on the instrument panel started to blink off and on and he detected smoke. the contact was able to get out of the vehicle before the instrument panel caught on fire. the fire department extinguished the fire. the fire report will be available. *ak

2004 hemi durango, driving down freeway and vehicle shuts off. placed vehicle in neutral and recovered. coasted to a stop in breakdown lane. placed vehicle in park and re started vehicle. it took 2 attempts to re start it was almost like the engine had loaded up. it then re started fine after the 2nd attempt. this has happened on several occasions during driving but only once at fwy speed. *nm

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 dodge durango. the contact stated that the cd player does not work and there is a continuous clicking sound when the key is removed from the ignition. the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice. the vehicle is included in recall number g07 and the repair work was performed; however, the failure still persists. the current mileage was 39,000 and failure mileage was 37,000.

2004 dodge durango. initially interior dome lights would not automatically dim and turn off upon entering the car. lights would turn off by manually pushing button twice- once to dim/ needed to wait a period of time/ then again to turn off. this began 5 days ago. after back hatch was opened and closed, back hatch light stayed on continuously, this began 3 days ago. bottom of instrument panel/ heater area failed to illuminate on occasion. this began about 3 days ago. drove yesterday, driving fine other than these electrical issues. about 1 hour after driving car, horrible smell occured in interior- smelled like a cross between something burning/ melting and paint fumes. upon starting the car the windshield wipers started on high speed and the tow light was flashing- could not turn off wipers. more of instrument panel lights were out, electrical system seemed crazy. immediately turned off car, afraid of a fire. i've found other similar reports of 2004 dodge durangos and have had auto towed to dealer. initally they need to replace the circuit board as it is fried and then look at the tcm. this car is only 2 years old . *nm

On 12/31/2006, as we were leaving in our 2004 dodge durango, the automatic door lock mechanism engaged, and then the interior lights came on by themselves and would not dim. we initially could not get them off, but we finally were able to turn off most of the interior lights except for liftgate light. since that time, none of the interior lights come on when opening the door. also, on the awd and 4wd switch panel, the neutral light stays on all the time. the alarm also goes off when using the key. we took the vehicle to the dealer on 1/2/2007, and then had to bring it back the next day for an actual appointment. they informed us that the instrument cluster panel, which is what is causing the issue, is on back order, and we have to wait 3 weeks to take it in so they can order parts. we will have to have a rental car as it will take possibly 4 days, and apparently we cannot accrue miles on the durango during that time. in the meantime, with the other complaints that have been filed with similar problems like this and the possibility of fires, we are leaving the car out in the driveway just in case. *nm

At approximately 10:30pm on december 26, 2006 our 2004 dodge durango caught of fire. we originally noticed the interior lights would not go off either manually or automatically. after driving the vehicle for about 45 minutes smoke poured out of the dash board and within minutes fire erupted and ignited the interior of the vehicle. flames broke through the windshied and caused additional damage to the roof of the vehicle. firefighters arrived on the scene within 10 minutes and extinguished the fire. all of our personal property was damaged and my daughter (7) and son (5) will still not fall asleep at night in fear the house will catch on fire since we have an attached garage. *nm

04 dodge durango hot electrical smell under the dash. heating and cooling control lights don't work and interior lights when don't work correctly, hatch door light stays on all the time, i had to pull the bulb out, drains battery. cd player don't work properly. recall campain id number 03v528000. when i contacted chysler the said that my vin number was not on the recall list. *nm

On wednesday the 6th of december i was driving my dodge durango and noticed that the dome light was coming on and would not turn off intermittently that day my wife took the truck to the bank ,while she was there she smelled something burning. this got her attention and she looked at the gauges and noticed that all of the gauges were reading zero, the tow/haul light was on and then the wipers came on by themselves. a short time later smoke started blowing out of the vents. she quickly got out of the bank line and parked it. she called me so i drove down to check it over. as soon as i opened the door i noticed a strong odor of burnt wiring. i gave it a quick look over and found the turn signals and stop lights were also not working. later that night we were able to drive it back to my shop(with the wipers still going)i checked on alldata for service bulletins to help me diagnose the problem and found recall c43 which seemed to be a match for our symptoms. i pulled the cluster to check for burnt wiring but did not find any. further investigation revealed a strong burnt smell from the cluster. i called dodge customer service to see if c43 applied to my vehicle and they said that it did not, because it was built 2 months after the recall date. i asked if they could offer any assistance but they flatly refused because i had pulled the gauges myself even though i am a certified mechanic with 11 years of experience. i have not corrected the problem yet but i will probably replace the cluster next week. *jb

My vehicle was parked in my driveway turned off. the dash caught on fire and filled the vehicle with smoke. the dash is now completely inoperable. chrysler is refusing to pay for the repair because the vehicle is out of warranty, the dealer cannot say what caused this problem. this vehicle is unsafe!! *nm

On several instances beginning approximately november of 2006 the interior lights would either stay on, or not come on at all. sometimes, upon entering the car, we would have to wait twenty minutes or more to get the lights to go out. a few instances, the lights would never go out and ran the battery down. eventually, no lights at all would come on and at one point you could smell something burning, but never see it. when approaching the jeff wyler dodge, and having our car serviced today (on 3-14-07), they had us pay for a diagnostics and stated that the instrumental cluster (sp?) needed to be replaced and the cost was close to $500.00. due to the price of the part, we decided not to have them replace it right away. tonight, while reading the news, i came upon an article on wlwt.com and found that if you are having an interior light problem (lights not dimming the way they are supposed to), to take your car to the dealer. i am very upset that somehow the recall is in the news, however a dodge dealership mentions nothing to us about it? i will be contacting the dealer again in the morning to discuss. *jb

(1) i got into my 2004 dodge durango slt and began driving. i noticed that the interior lights were on. i attempted to turn them off but they would not go out with the overhead switch. i read the manual that stated lights would go out after 8 minutes if there was no key in the ignition (2) when i arrived home i got out of the car and went inside my home. a few hours later i went back out to the car.when i opened the door a vapor cloud billowed out and a very strong odor of burned electrical components was in the driving compartment. when i started the car i noticed a number of non-working components including. 1 - all guages (needles non responsive to actual running conditions) 2 - odometer and gear selector (digital readouts not working) 3 - interior lights 4 - backlighting for termperature controls and various other controls (3) this woccured just over a month after purchasing the vehicle used. i have yet been able to afford to fix the problem, and the dodge cetified dealers refuse to give me any kind of quote on the approximate cost to fix this problem. i will update this when i finally get this fixed.

While traveling we returned to the hotel from dinner approx. 9:10 pm local time. at 11:15 pm we were contacted by the front desk informing us our vehicle was on fire. going out to the durango a police officer was extinguishing a fire inside the passenger compartment. the fire department arrived and finished putting out the fire. the fire chief and visual evidence clearly indicated the fire started in the area of the instrument cluster. the fire destroyed the panel and center console, broke out the windshield and set off the drivers side airbag, and melted the interior trim and headliner as far back as the rear seat. the vehicle is likely a total loss. this appears to be the issue covered by daimler chrysler recall c43 but no notice of the recall has ever been received. the vehicle was bought used from a dodge dealer in summer 2005 and has been in the dealer for service at least once. *jb

Instrument panel flashing, appearing to short out caused battery to die. similar electrical problems include instrument panel shutting off during driving and a/c not working. *jb

2004 dodge durango, the interior lights stayed on. i was instructed by the dealer to pull the fuse for the lights (not marked). pulled fuse out and sparks and smoke came from under the dash (behind the gauges). a fire broke out and destroyed the vehicle. *jb

2004 dodge durango, the interior lights stayed on. i purchased the vehicle two weeks prior. i was instructed by a dealer to pull the fuse for the lights (not marked). pulled fuse out and sparks and smoke came from under the dash (behind the gauges). a fire broke out and destroyed the vehicle. when i checked, thought the yes was marked on the first page - resubmitting. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated on two separate occasions, when the key was inserted into the ignition and the key was turned, smoke came from the instrument panel. on both occasions the engine was not started. on the second instance, the ignition switch was turned off and the key removed. when the contact returned to the vehicle, the front was full of black smoke, and fire was seen behind the steering wheel. the fire department was contacted. the service dealer and the manufacturer were notified.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 75 mph on the highway, the engine stalled without warning followed by a loss of all vehicle power. upon further inspection, the contact moved the battery cables of the battery, and the engine restarted. the manufacturer was alerted.

Fire under dash, driver side. *jb

Dt*: the contact stated that while driving at 30 mph, and changing from a braking situation to acceleration, the vehicle bucked. for a few seconds, the radio shut off, and the brake warning light and oil warning light illuminated. during that time, the cruise control also disengaged. the vehicle was not taken in for service.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle caught on fire in the driveway without warning. the fire department extinguished the fire and a report was filed. the dealer determined the cause of the fire was the wiring harness.

June 23, 2006 my daughter bailey chapman was participating in the 2006 7-11 soccer tournament at the saginaw township soccer complex located in saginaw township, michigan. the soccer complex is located off of mccarty road between bay road and mackinaw. her team was scheduled to play at 7:30pm. we were instructed to be at the complex forty five minutes prior to game time. we departed our home at 6:30pm for the 10 minute drive to the complex. we parked in an overflow tournament parking lot to the east of the complex. the lot was located off of mccarty road between cabaret trail w. and fortune blvd. we pulled off mccarty road and parked at approx. 6:45pm. as i turned the vehicle ignition off, my wife and i noticed smoke coming from underneath the dash board. it appeared that the smoke was coming from the instrument panel. at that point, my wife and i instructed the two older children to exit the vehicle immediately. my wife assisted our 4 year old out of her car seat. once everyone had cleared the vehicle, i opened the hood of the vehicle to check for smoke in the engine compartment. i saw no smoke in the engine compartment. although, i did see a small amount of smoke coming out of the vents located near the windshield wipers. i then proceeded to the passenger side of the vehicle. at this time the smoke went from a white/grey color to black. my first response was to order my family to move away from the vehicle. i then called 911 at 6:48pm to report a potential fire in the vehicle. shortly after the call to 911, a round flame shot through the dash (behind the driver instrument panel) to the windshield glass. at this point i instructed my family to get as far away from the vehicle as possible. i made a second call to 911 to report that the vehicle was now on fire. the vehicle was entirely burnt within 10-12 minutes. *nm

My 2004 dodge durango caught fire while parked in my carport overnight. the fire started in the dash on the drivers side of the car. i contacted dodge/ chrysler about the problem. the only response from them was "claim is denied". i wasn't filing a claim, i was contacting them to see what they could or would do as far what had taken place because of the fire possibly due to a defective part and of course safety was a concern. considering the car caught fire in the carport and could have blown up and my house could have burn down while we was all asleep. thanks. *nm

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 dodge durango. after performing a recall repair, the technician stated that the vehicle was safe for the contact to drive. while traveling to pennsylvania at 45 mph, the vehicle caught fire and the contact and her family were locked inside the vehicle as the flames continued to spread. the vehicle is included in recall # 07v092000 (electrical system: instrument panel) and is also known as safety recall go7 regarding the instrument panel. daimler chrysler stated that she needs to get a rental car and to bring the vehicle to the dealer. the manufacturer was unable to help. the contact spoke with the corporation fourteen times and continually claimed that they could not help. furthermore, she would have to pay for the rental car that was suggested. a police report was filed. the current and failure mileages were 37,000.

Dt*: the contact stated after starting the engine, all of the interior lights illuminated and remained on. afterwards, the interior lighting went out without warning and would not re-illuminate. the vehicle is currently at the dealership awaiting inspection. there is a nhtsa recall, # 03v528000, regarding the electrical system. the vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the vin. updated 4/11/2006 - *nm

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 15mph the vehicle caught on fire. there is possible internal smoke damage to the contact's lungs. when the fire department extinguished the fire the police department filed a report. the fire started with the internal lights and headlights switch. the insurance company determined the vehicle was totaled and are currently inspecting the vehicle. previously, on multiple occasions the vehicle was taken to the dealership for electrical issues. the internal lights remained illuminated, the alarm turned on, and while touching the door it shocked the contact. the dealer replaced the keyless entry, an electrical part and a part in the heater. the vehicle was being taken back to the dealership when the fire occurred.

Vehicle caught fire inside the instrument cluster on the driver's side dashboard. the vehicle burned to the point where it was totaled by the insurance company. *nm

I lease a 2004 dodge durango limited w/ a 5.7 hemi. this vehicle stalled on slick road doing approx, 35-40 mph. i tried to stop vehicle and lost control. went off road into ditch and rolled vehicle. all passengers in vehicle (4) were all uninjured. this vehicle has done this since it had 1803 miles on it. this truck has had multiple problems and has been a nightmare. this vehicle is unsafe as i have said since first episode of stalling. now this truck has approx, 21000 miles on it and this problem recurred. we are scared to drive truck. manu, says not to worry" if this happens, airbags will still deploy." are you serious !! enough is enough! lets get together and make this problem known. at this point i am ready for action to be taken and all the consumers that have this problem need to unite and settle this once and for all. next time there may be a death. it may be your child. we need to stop this people !!! *nm

Vehicle stalls, transmission quits. doesn't work. *jb

Numerous electrical problems with 2004 dodge durango. within in 3 months of purchasing vehicle, 4 wheel drive began turning itself on without warning. this caused problems turning. vehicle was taken back to benders in clovis numerous times before computer was reprogrammed, solving the problem. in january, 2006 the check engine light came on. benders tested the vehicle and said that the computer wasn't receiving any input and it needed to be replaced. had to drive the vehicle for almost a month before they would change out the computer. problem seems to be resolved now, but i feel that there is a problem with the wiring in this vehicle to cause so many failures. *nm

Bought 2004 3.7l dodge durango jan 2004 .within year, check engine light came on. took it to arrigo dodge, wpbch, florida. left it for a few days, called to say it was ready. reason for failure - bad sensor. drove home, light back on.took it to arrigo. they kept it for a week. they explained that the harness (electrical) had a short, so they replaced it.got it back with the light on. they took it back into the shop for about 5 minutes then the service advisor took it back to say they just turned off the warning light. within a month my mechanic told me that there is a vibration in the motor. by the begining of 2006, the vibration got worse. eventually the vehicle broke down. by this time, my 75000 mile powertrane warranty had run out. my mechanic told me that there was sludge stuck in the oil pump screen and as such the oil was not circulating like it should.the night before i was supposed to take it to the dealership for diagnosis, i parked it in my neighbors driveway. woke up early, went to the truck opened the driverside door and immediately smelled / saw smoke coming from under instrument panel. all the warning and ignition lights were on and speedometer was cycling between zero and 10 mph. . i disconnected the battery, which stopped the burning. took it to dealership where they discovered that the module in the instrument cluster was burnt, and for the original problem , they found that the motor was ruined. as a result of all this i had to pay $800+ to fix the instrument cluster problem and my mechanic found a motor to replace mine at an additional $2500. i'm convinced the warning light was indication that something was wrong with the engine and had they not turned off the warning light, i would have paid enough attention to the vehicle to not wind up with a ruined engine. dealer told me that there was recall for a capacitor in the instrument cluster but the recall was done on my vehicle before i bought it. thus i had to pay for the repair out of pocket. *nm

I was driving on the expressway and dome light came on, and it would not turn off. about a minute later smoke started coming out of the instrument panel and within seconds the whole dashboard was on fire. the car was totaled. this happened while i was driving and i barely made it out w/o getting burnt. *ak

At approximately 11 pm our daughter was getting ready for bed when she heard the car alarm going off outside. as she walked out onto the deck she saw that our 2004 dodge durango was engulfed in flames. she immediately went inside and called 911. our local volunteer fire department responding in about 10 minutes after they were paged out, but it looks to be a total loss. the entire inside of our vehicle is burnt. the fire appears to have started in the dashboard area. i am the type of person who will take her vehicle in for every oil change and have asked on several occasions when doing so, if there were any recalls for this vehicle. the dealer told me that the recalls were already take care of. what am i suppose to believe now. this vehicle was parked not even 10 feet from our home, what if she had gone to bed and didn't hear the alarm? what would have happened if i lost my children and my home. this vehicle was parked and turned off for about an hour before she heard the car alarm and saw the fire. thank goodness it didn't happen while she was driving it. *nm

The interior light continued to stay on, and part of the dash would not light up. after checking everything, it was determined the whole electrical panel needed to be replaced. it was under warranty. it's only been a few weeks since replacement. the brakes are/ have been screeching and was told that it is the way the pads are made, etc. and when the weather is wet it is increased. just coasting they screech. *nm

2004 dodge durange 5.7l hemi. while driving on interstate with cruise control on going 71 mph, i slowed down to exit on my exit ramp. at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled (shut down) and i lost all power steering. i moved to side of road, but the vehicle in park and restarted the vehicle. *nm

Tl* the contact owns a 2004 dodge durango. the vehicle was parked when the contact noticed all interior lights were illuminated. the contact then started the vehicle and the dashboard caught on fire. the contact confirmed the failure had occurred on four different occasions. on the fourth incident, the engine blew out. the vehicle was towed to the dealer all four times in regards to the failure. the dealer replaced the dashboard cluster on each occasion. the vin was not available. the approximate current and failure mileages were 109,000.

Vehicle is a police vehicle and is used on night shifts. low beam headlamps intermittently turn off for a few seconds, then turn back on. occurs occasionally, but not every night. sgt. thomas schmieder reporting the incident. *jb

Dt: the contact stated while driving at normal highway speeds the vehicle stalled without warning. when the stalling occurred the vehicle lost power. the first time this happened the vehicle was taken to the dealership for diagnostic testing. the dealer flashed the computer, and determined this would fix the problem. the vehicle operated normally for one and half months. the stalling returned suddenly without warning , and the vehicle was returned to the dealer a second time. the dealer determined the computer was bad , and it was replaced. again the vehicle operated normally for two to three months, then the stalling returned the vehicle was taken back to the dealer a third time. this time the dealer determined the egr valve was stuck . also, there was a short to the ground on the engine. the vehicle had the same type problems once again. also, dealer replaced seat belt anchorage. *ak

I purchased a 2004 dodge durango with the hemi engine in april of 2004. in july 2004 the check engine light came on and the engine failed immediately. i had it towed back to the dealer ship (towne & country dodge conyers ga). they fixed it and did not tell me what it was. in march 2005, the same thing happened again. this time they replaced a valve spring in the 3trd cylinder. two weeks ago, it happened again. this time they told me i needed a new battery. i complained and they recharged the old one. when i went to pick it up, there were warning lights on and the cd player did not work. they are charging me to do a diagnostic test. i have complained to dodge with no satisfaction. *jb

Turned key in ignition and the dashboard lit up. there were even lights on the dashboard that i did not recognize. nothing worked: no ac, no gas gauge, no electric windows, no headlights (or any other lights), no speedometer, no windshield wipers. dropped durango off for service 2 days later, it sat in our driveway undriveable for those two days. chrysler reset a computer switch and informed us that the fix was temporary to get us through the weekend, for a monday appointment for service. dropped off the durango on 7/24/05 and today, 8/8/05 it is still in the shop. they had to remove a part of the computer and send it off to the manufacturer to be repaired/reset. we were told a week ago that the manufacturer doesn't have the part needed for the repair, because this has never happened before, and that it would be another week before the durango is fixed. at that time, we requested a loaner vehicle and was approved by chrysler for a loaner for a 10 day period. today is day number 7, and chrysler is predicting that the part may be delivered to them in the next few days, so maybe we'll have the vehicle prior to the weekend. at this the vehicle has been undriveable for 15 days....i'm looking into the va lemon law, and if the problem persists, may pursue that. if anyone else has had this problem we'd like to know about it. *nm

Tl*the contact owns a 2004 dodge durango. the contact stated that when he puts his seat belt on, a spark comes from the retractor area and the radio shuts off intermittently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer and they changed the battery twice, yet the failure still persists. the current mileage was 59,439 and failure mileage was 40,000. updated 07/29/08. *lj the consumer stated the radio burned out. updated 07/29/08

When the ambient temperature is above 105 deg f, the air conditioner blows out hot air. i have had the 31 mar 05 tsb fix put in place, but the ac still does not work correctly.
