Recently reported SEAT BELTS problems on 2001 Dodge Caravan

Tl* the contact owned a 2001 dodge caravan. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree. the air bags deployed. the second row driver's side seat belt fractured. the contact sustained injuries to the head, chest, and ankle. the front passenger received a sprained ankle and the other occupant received a broken wrist, broken sternum, and a cracked pelvis/hip. medical attention was required. a police report was filed. the vehicle was destroyed and towed. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the vin and failure mileage were unknown.

Dt*: the contact stated the front passenger seat belt became stuck. the seat belt did not retract and was not able to be pulled out at all. also, the air bag warning light illuminated constantly. the vehicle was taken to a private repair shop, where the mechanic was unable to determine the cause of the seat belt problem. when the air bag was tested, the mechanic stated that there was a code which only the dealer could decipher.

2001 dodge caravan rear shoulder straps will not catch in crash, front belts worked fine but all of rear seat belts will not catch if you jerk on them you can see they don't catch and they did not catch my daughter and she was badly injured. *nm updated 03/31/06. *jb

While driving vehicle hit an ice patch in the road. the anti lock brakes failed, and vehicle spun around, and went into a ravine. while going down, consumer hit a tree which stopped the vehicle. driver's seat back reclined, laying the consumer completely down. somehow she then slid out of the seat belt, and landed in the back seat with the seat belt still engaged. *ak since the accident consumer's shoulder/neck, and head are in constant pain.difficulty focusing, an dis unable to drive for long periods of time due to pain. *ak

The rear passenger seat belt became stuck in the power sliding door causing the door to jam. the door could not be opened from the inside or outside. the vehicle is currently with the dealer being repaired. please provide any further details. *nlm *mr
