This is the third time the electronic throttle body has failed. the dealers keep replacing that specific part and there must be more wrong with the vehicle . the vehicle is unable to accelerate, it bogs and jumps and is very dangerous to drive.
While driving at hwy. speed vehicle surged but no warning lights, etc. next time started, warning lights came on indicating a p2173 code.car was just at dodge dealer for recalls. car will idle fine for a couple of minutes then start surging, idling rough with no power and set warning lights, mil, etc, esc. these will go off when vehicle is turned off except for check engine light. we have replaced throttle body with no change. cleared code and came back and did the same. very disappointed that dodge has not addressed this issue. it is not safe.
As i was traveling 65 mph down hwy 411 in centre, al my car (2008 dodge avenger) completely shutoff. i could barely get my car over to the side of the road due to the steering wheel wouldn't turn. thank god it was 11 p.m on a thursday night because if it would've been during the day this hwy is very busy and i could've caused a wreck and harmed myself or someone else. after i got on the side of the road i tried to start it back up a few times and it finally started back up but it wouldn't stop turning over until i cut it back off. then i tried to start it again and it started but every light on my dash come on. i put it in drive and tried to drive it home but it wouldnt go over 15 mph. i had several vehicles run up on the back of my vehicle and i was actually afraid for my safety. when i got it home i shut it off and it wouldnt start back up. i then tried to start it back up the next morning and the electrical throttle control light ...
My issue is with my throttle body. this will be the 4th time it's being fixed between me and the previous owner 2 just for me. there has been two cases where i was driving in town and all the sudden i lose all acceleration. my gas pedal goes right to the floor and it does nothing. then once i stopped it idles really rough. i've gone through two throttle body's in a 9 month period and i feel if this happens again i may not be so lucky to survive. the most recent time was 7/2/2019 i was driving and was stopped at a stop light and my car starts the rough idling and when i hit the gas it went right to the floor which then hindered traffic and almost got hit. the forst time it happens to me like i said i was driving down a city street starting a decent downhill and when i got to the bottom of hill my pedal went right to the floor again. that's scary situation especially let's say crossing a street the has cross traffic that doesn't have to stop and all the sudden your in the middle of the ...
While driving my vehicle at 60mph, my gas pedal simply stopped working. my rpms on the dashboard went to 0(zero) and my vehicle began slowing down. i became stranded in the middle of the freeway with cars honking at me. i could not do anything but turning off the vehicle, then turning it back on. when it started up, i began driving for about 1/2 of a mile and it stalled again. i was able to pull off to the shoulder, but the steering became difficult to turn, and so did the brake. it's as if i was forcing the car to come to a complete stop, and the brake was fighting against my foot. i sat for 10 minutes before starting the vehicle again and quickly exiting the freeway. i took it to a private mechanic, and he pulled a code stating it was a faulty throttle body. after inspecting it, he recommended a complete cleaning of it. so he cleaned it. i went to drive home and the car stalled again, this time as i was coming to a stop sign. with cars behind me honking, it became embarrassing, so i exited the vehicle and pushed it off ...

Cadillac converter recall- when the cadillac converter went out the car made a horrible noise and lost power to accelerate. come to find out the pressure blew back and popped hoses of and broke the intake manifold. the flap cant open and close. chrysler said that the intake manifold was not due to the cadillac converter but teo auto macanica said it was. this is a $700 repair due to a recall! had been driving car around town all day. stopped to turn and loud noise happened. luckly coasted to blocks to house and had tow truck take to repair shop.
The red lightening bolt appears and the car loses nearly all engine power....i read on the internet to:1} turn on ignition(not engine)...2}press accelerator pedal slowly to the floor, then allow the pedal to return(slowly)..3} turn ignition off----4{start the car... i had to pull over and stop the car and go thru the instructions.....it always starts and runs for a half a day or so, before it happens again!(i guess i have to keep resetting the throttle sensor)!....this happens at 10 mph and or 60 mph
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 dodge avenger. the contact stated that the vehicle would not accelerate over 20 mph. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the failure occurred intermittently. cutter chrysler jeep dodge of pearl city (905 kamehameha hwy, pearl city, hi 96782, (808) 564-9640) diagnosed that the throttle body needed to be repaired. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 100,000.
I just bought my 2008 avenger. everything worked as normal until i went to warm up my car today and later realized that the passenger side is only blowing cold air. i have researched and found hundreds if not thousands are having the exact issue. the actuators are functioning. the blend door is fine. the heater core itself is fine due to hot air coming from driver side only. this can cause a more electrical problems and malfunctions and should be recalled due to poor heating abilities thus lack of defrost during winter months. i have a small frame i'm able to look out after windshield has been defrosting for over 20 minutes. that's the worst part. the other issue is my cruise control quit working also today while going 75 mph down the highway. i was almost rear ended because once it disengaged, it slowed down tremendously. had i not been quick at accelerating again, i would be putting my car in the shop for rear end damage. whether they are connected or not, i dont know, but it is very strange both issue arouse today.
