We have classified the 202 complaints from 2008 Dodge Avenger about ELECTRICAL SYSTEM into the following categories.
On 3 separate occasions while driving my 2008 dodge avenger sxt in light rain, the vehicle lost all electrical power. each time the car stalled the wipers were on. we took the vehicle to the dodge dealer and were told there is no problem. a day after having the car looked at it stalled again, almost causing a rear end collision. car was taken back to dealer immediately, they kept the car for 1 1/2 days and told us the solenoid valve is getting raw gasoline in it due to us "topping of the gas tank when we fill it up" (never have done that). they replaced the valve, but the car still stumbles as if it were going to stall. dodge told us there are no recalls or other complaints out there like ours, however doing my own online research i found a family in florida on carcomplaints.com with the same problems! this is a big concern to my husband and i as our 3 month old son was in the car when the power loss has occurred. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2008 dodge avenger. sporadically, while driving 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. it typically takes several minutes to restart the vehicle. the contact received a recall notice for nhtsa campaign id number 08v152000 (electrical system:wiring) and immediately took the vehicle to the dealer for repair. one month after the repair, the failure resurfaced. he called the manufacturer and is waiting for a response. the failure mileage was 17,000 and current mileage was 38,000.
A/c is blowing out hot air, i was told by the dealership that i needed to get a replacement computer component. i told them at the time that my car has only 70000+ plus miles and that should not be replaced plus i had older cars and people with older cars never once had to get the ac fix and they have over 150000 to 200000 miles on their car. mean while back several years ago, my car caught on fire do to hay falling in the road, therefore all wiring/equipment under the hood got replaced. currently my driver side seat belt does not stay fasten all the time. *tr
A few days after i purchased the vehicle i began hearing a tapping noise in the engine sounds like knocking (bad gas or rod). dealer claims to not hear anything. took to another dealer which heard the noise, kept the car to inspect and repair stating they thought they knew what the problem was. car wasn't fixed i complained because the second dealer admitted to speaking with the first dealer thus the car wasn't fixed. they lied to me and told me it was a federally regulated emissions system that made the car sound that way. dealer #1 offered to set up an appointment with a chrysler rep. then he called back and stated that the rep wouldn't be local for 4-6 weeks. the rep called me and basically stated that it sounded like i just didn't like the car. the dealer would not take the car back, and were rude about repairs. i never saw the rep. now the car is making a rubbing noise in the steering column and the power steering pump sounds like it is going out. i have done everything to try to replace the car but the dealers have put me off so long without repairs that i am stuck with the car. less than 6 months after i owned the car i began seeing commercials for the car only the price was more than $5,000 less than what i was charged. therefore, the bank wants an enormous amount of money in order to put me in another vehicle. the ignition rolls over several times before starting. sometimes i have to attempt starting the vehicle three times. the cd player does not work, it over heats and will burn your hand if you touch the digital display. i have had friends in the community to call me and tell me that my car sounded awful when they saw me in town. additionally i am paying 430 a month for the payment when the girl across the road is having the same problems with her new avenger yet she only pays 279 a month at 11% interest. with all of the problems and the miserable ride this car offers, i can easily compare it to a bicycle " a used bicycle" at best. *tr
