WIRING 2 HORN 1

Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2008 Dodge Avenger

While driving, vehicle immediately malfunctioned, preventing rpm in excess of 2500rpm and capping speed at 5mph uphill or 30mph downhill (incline dependent). at this time, electronic throttle control light appeared on dash. since this time (3 days so far), the vehicle has been inoperable. attempts to determine the cause of this malfunction by searching the internet have shown numerous other consumers have had similar problems, particularly with this make and model (2008 dodge avenger), and attribute it to a problem with the throttle body - either throttle body itself, throttle position sensor, wires leading to throttle body, electrical control of throttle body, i.e. whether malfunction is battery-life-dependent, etc. *tr

Air bag light comes on and stays on when moving seat up or back which makes the sensor come on, have to keep moving the track until it turns off. is this related to recall g14? fan in radiator constantly turns off and on, and now my car seems to have a electrical short that makes a knocking noise in the engine compartment when the air/heater is turned off, also the left side of car defroster does not work. most recent the left driver seat belt all of a sudden is not retracting, this is not safe in the case of an accident, dealer is charging an outrageous price to have it fixed. *tr

A few things have happened all pointing towards a failed/failing tipm module. the first thing we noticed was the car would stall while sitting still in rush hour/bumper to bumper traffic. then in early 2014 the windshield wipers started turning off during snow/rain storms almost causing accidents a few times that we replaced the wipers, wiper switch and wiper motor and still have the issue randomly. last week the horn started to randomly go off to the point that i was driving to work today and it went off and did not stop. saw the nhtsa investigation into chryslers tipm's so wanted to put something in because i do not see the 2008 avenger in the lists online and this is more than likely a failing/failed. tipm. dealerships want $800-1000 for the replacement, rockauto, com has it for $260 ($200 core charge) $460 total to get the replacement part then return the core. i have a friend with 2006 dodge 3500 diesel that he had to replace his tipm recently and got one from rockauto.com as well and recommended them as the go to place given chrysler's inability to take responsibility to notify their car owners of the potential risk/hazard. i am the original owner of my avenger and bought it new october 2007. *tr

Was driving down the highway and noticed a delayed response when pushing down on the accelerator, moments later i was unable to accelerator and the car's electronic throttle control light appeared, the car was unable to go more then 15mph. took the car to a service station where they ran a diagnostic test and no defaults were found. *tr

The dash lights go on & of intermittently. sometimes when i stop for gas, the dash lights wont come on when i restart the engine. sometimes the will go off while driving and i hit a bump. i am unable to see the instrument panel when this happens. *tr

Vehicle started having issues starting and then it would start and run fine and then die.i was contacted and noticed that the fuel pump was not coming on and then would all the sudden come on andthen quit so i removed the rear seat and unplugged the wire harness and could see where it had been burned and looked at the top of the pump where the harness plugs in and could see and smell gas.i removed the fuel pump and you could see where one of the wire harnesses inside the fuel tank on the fuel pump had burned a hole all the way through.in the whole process of this no fuse ever blew to shut power off and was told there is no fuse by someone at the dodge dealer.i proceeded to look on the internet and found numerous accounts of this same issue and nobody has reported it the changed there fuel pump but that does not fix the issue. if there is no fuse to blow somebody is going to get hurt and if there is a fuse why are they not blowing. *tr

Was going down interstate, went through tollbooth, around 55mph the etc light came on and the gas pedal no longer accelerated the car. vehicle speed rapidly dropped and i had to pull over to avoid an accident. turned vehicle off, restarted it and drove another 50 feet before the same thing happened. turned the vehicle off a second time and restarted. haven't had the problem since yesterday. however after researching this issue, the etc unit on the 2008 dodge avenger is an extremely faulty unit and this happens to a lot of people. typical repair is around $800. this needs to be a recallable item. i had my daughter in the car and we were nearly rear ended due to the speed drop on a three lane highway. i will be reporting this to chrysler as well. *tr

My 08 dodge purchased at monroe mi, dodge superstore. i have an faulty electrical system wiring. my vehicle stalls in wet weather, cruise control doesn't work, and headlights malfunctions, they come on automatically. i understand 08 dodge avenger has had a recall for this issue. i believe monroe dodge failed to fix or notify me of recall. i am afraid to drive the car for high rate of an accident. please investigate, as i appreciate your attention to this matter , before i have an accident and hurt someone. i need car fixed asap as i am afraid to drive it. i appreciate your attention to this matter. thank you. 10/14/2014. *tr

While driving on a busy highway at 55 mph, the etc light came on in addition to several other lights and the vehicle seemed to lose all power to include turn signal and acceleration almost causing a huge accident. i pulled over to the side of the road and tried turning the vehicle off and then back on and it would not start. thinking it was the battery i called someone to get a ride and jumper cables and left the vehicle on the side of the highway for about an hour or two. when i returned to jump the vehicle the vehicle started with only the check engine light on. i proceeded to drive the vehicle home and it accelerated fine until i hit 50+ mph and lost all power and acceleration again so i pulled onto the shoulder of the onramp. while on the shoulder of the onramp, i continued to coast to avoid getting accidentally hit due to the location. the vehicle continued to coast at about 20 mph all the way to my house which was about 7 miles away. during this time i had no acceleration or power and multiple lights were illuminated. after the vehicle sat over night in my driveway, i went out to investigate the problem and it will not start again. i called the manufacturer of the vehicle and they stated that there are no recalls pertaining to the issue that i am having nor is it covered by any warranty and they suggested them towing it to the dealership for a diagnosis which i really do not have the funds for either at this point. after reading multiple complaints about the exact vehicle type and issue, i found this site.

Upon exiting my vehicle i shut my door hitting the key lock on my key chain and realized that my door would not shut causing me to tie a rope to a piece inside the car to keep the door shut. *tr

I got in my car after work and noticed that my headlights automatically came on, i don't have the daytime running lights. i tried to turn them off on the control switch, nothing happened. i didn't figure out that my turn signals didn't work till i had a line of semi trucks behind me and i was needing to turn into my driveway, i live in ky so we have a lot of big trucks on the road hauling coal and gravel. i had to pass my driveway up cause i thought i was going to get hit in the rear end ( which i usually have a 5 yr old in the back seat) and had to go faster to get way ahead of the trucks so i could get pulled off the road to turn to go back home. when i get home i keep trying to get the headlight off, so i try all the controls, that's when i find out i have no wipers either. so i have no high beams with my headlights, no turn signals and no wipers, so therefore i can't drive this car to work which makes the payments on the car. called the dealer they told me it could be of 2 things, either the controls on the steering column, which i don't see how both could go out at the same time since its 2 different controls or its either my temp which cost $600 plus labor. i don't think i'll be buying another dodge produce, i'll stick with chevy or gmc. they need to do a recall before they get someone seriously hurt by getting rear ended or get caught out in a rain storm! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge avenger. the contact stated that the air bag sensor warning light was illuminated and flashing. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the contact was informed by the manufacturer that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number id number: 07v240000 (air bags). the contact also stated that she experienced multiple defects involving the electrical system including an inoperable cruise control function, a sporadic loss of engine power, and the vehicle stalling when the remote key was used to open the doors. the manufacturer was notified and the contact was informed that the vehicle was also not included in nhtsa campaign 08v152000 (electrical system). the contact indicated that the vehicle had experienced the same defects as listed in both recalls. the failure mileage was 79,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge avenger. the contact stated that while traveling 55 mph, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration power. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was contacted about the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number 08v152000 (electrical system). the failure mileage was 72,000.

While driving 60 mph using cruise control, electronic throttle control indicator light blinks and engine loses power. however, difficulty in breaking and bringing to complete stop due to high rpm idle. after turning off and restarting engine, light is off and engine runs fine. incident has occurred three times, 6/29/13, 7/2/13, 7/7/13. *tr

I started the car and it drove normally for 1/4 mile. car then began bucking and would not accelerate over 20mph. electric throttle light came on. shop said the electric throttle needed to be replaced. got it replaced in june of 2013. in august of 2014, my battery light came on. car drove normally. stopped after an hour trip. two hours later car wouldn't start. received a jump, car started but would not accelerate over 25 mph. electric throttle light, check engine light, and battery light are on. to the shop i go again...almost two months after the warranty has expired... *tr

Turn signals, dome light, windshield wipers, and running lights would not operate. started working again the next morning. hopefully they will not stop working during a rain storm or on a dark road. seems this would warrant a safety recall immediately. this could be extremely dangerous! *tr

Once electronic throttle control indicator light comes on, it is difficult to maintain consistent speed. i also have no control over my temperature gauges. airbag light, check engine light comes on together with this as well. *tr

Electronic throttle control light came on and stayed flashing could not go over approx 15-25 mph. pulled over shut car off and restarted and worked fine for the 5 min drive i had to complete after it happened. 9 hours later while driving the throttle control light came on again with loss of power intermittently then stayed off for 5 min drive i had to complete. *tr

While driving down the road my electronic throttle light started flashing my car would not go above 25 mph i called the dealership they stated their is nothing they can do except call me a tow truck to tow it into their dealership which is twenty miles away. they need to recall this issue. *tr

Electronic throttle control light came on at a low speed with a total loss of power. diagnostic code indicated loss of power to the throttle body. could not locate the source of the problem. since then have experienced several more times at higher speeds sometimes with a loss of power sometimes no loss of power. throttle body cleaned, sensors replaced, still continue to have issues. have not had any diagnostic codes come up in the recent events. today the etc light came on at 65mph and went off, then continued to come on and off several times over 15 miles at highway speeds. once i was able to stop tried to pull codes and there were none, the system checked out with no problems indicated. through research i have found to be a common problem with dodge etc even after owners have the throttle body replaced. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge avenger. the contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the malfunction error warning message illuminated on the instrument panel as the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was towed to the contacts home where it was inspected by an independent mechanic. the mechanic stated that the failure was electrical. the contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 08v152000 (electrical system) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 55,000. *tr

On 3/11/13, i reported to dodge case # [xxx] that when driving on wet / damp roads the car will stall out for no reason. this has happend to me while stopped at a light, slowing down going through a toll or even while turning in an intersection. i have felt it to start to stall while driving at 65 and have hit the gas to stop the problem. i phoned dodge who told me ... sorry there are no recalls. i then phoned my local dodge service department who immediately told me that yes they have had this problem in the past, the suggested is a sensor on the throttle or throttle body. the cost for repair is around $750. i happened to see there was another complaint on your site regarding this. because i feel as though this is a very serious danger hazard, i filed a complaint with the department of transportation # [xxx]who suggested i contact you. i think this is a very large concern and something that needs to be addressed immediately. i will be paying the money to get my vehicle fixed out of concern for my own and others safety. i drive the interstate everyday to work 65 - 75 mph and have to drive either in the right or left lane in case my car stalls. i was lucky that when my call stalled while trying to pull away from a red light i was not rear ended. i am hopeful you will see the sense of urgency and push dodge to do a recall. i do not think this should be the consumers espense. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

My 2008 dodge avenger has an electronic throttle control light flashing anytime i go over about 2000 rpm. at that point the car begins to stall and i have to put the car in park and restart. i am posting this because i have seen numerous other posts on dodge forums that explain the same problem. there seems to be a known defect with the throttle control. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge avenger. the contact stated that while driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. the contact merged to the shoulder, powered off and restarted the vehicle. the contact also stated that the electronic throttle control system warning light was illuminated. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure and current mileage was 90,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge avenger. while driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the brake pedal was depressed. the electronic throttle control warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be cleaned. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the vehicle was taken back to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the alternator needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 110,000. the vin was not available.

I have had multiple problems with my throttle body and losing power in my car. all my attempts to fix it have failed. now my car will only get up to about ten mph. with the lighting bolt flashing on my dash board. i have talked to mechanics at a dodge dealership and the say they haven't heard of this problem and that is a flat out lie. they just keep trying to fix this and that and it does not work. this part needs to be recalled before someone is killed and dodge trying to cover up what hundreds have complained about is not fair to us as consumers spending hundreds of dollars out of pocket and there is only temporary fixes. *tr

I have had a reoccuring problem with the throttle light coming on after experiencing chugging and deceleration with my car. it was only at low speeds but has now gone on when i am on the freeway. i have had the vehicle come close to losing power at high speeds but i was lucky enough to have light traffic and a clear shoulder. my rpms have been incredibly high during this time and have to start the car again. this fixes it temporarily and starts again a few minutes later. i have seen this issue on other vehicles and needs to be fixed before someone gets killed. i am a police officer and i have defensively driving training but they don't train you on when a part on your car that should be recalled fails while traveling 65 on the freeway. how many complaints do they need to fix this problem? you will recall a stupid tire sensor but not the throttle body that can cause death? fix the problem please. i don't want to die or injured because no one is listening about an obvious problem. *tr

Shortly after i purchased my '08 dodge avenger i started having trouble w/the etc. it felt like the vehicle was jolting on acceleration or if i was at a steady high rate of speed (75-80 mph). the etc indicator came on. i contacted the dealer & informed them of the issue & my concern about the reliability of the vehicle. it was in & out of the shop 3 times in the 1st month of purchase for the etc. i was told it was a speed sensor yet my etc light was on after replacement. after having etc sensor cleaned & etc software flashed the problem appeared to go away. almost 2 years later the problem is back & worse. my etc indicator came on, vehicle stalled while idling, started jolting while accelerating & while maintaining a steady speed. it began revving at a complete stop w/full pressure applied to the break (vehicle would jump forward; i feared it would run itself into another vehicle). while slowing down it would rev & accelerate (creating the possibility of hitting another vehicle) w/out pressure on the gas pedal. it died while driving & wouldn't start restart. when it did start the etc was on & it wouldn't get past 1000rpm or above 20mph & had a very rough idle. a tune-up was done, etc sensor cleaned, air-intake system cleaned, & load test done to see if the battery was going bad. this vehicle is incredible unsafe to drive, after researching it appears that i am not the first person w/this issue. dodge needs to recall this throttle body, it's extremely dangerous. the repairs on this vehicle are extensive & the problem isn't fixed. advised replacing throttle body is the next step. told it wouldn't be a guaranteed fixed because the throttle body for this model appears a faulty & i would likely be dealing w/this problem for the length of ownership. recorded vehicle during some of incidents since i was told 1st time i was told "unable to duplicate, flashed software." *tr

Continuous engine and electronic and fuel and electrical issues with check engine light is activated with no resolve.

My daughter was driving home from work at 60mph and all of sudden the radio was cutting off and on and then the car started hesitating and then just cut off.after having it towed home found that the starter was burt up.replaced starter with new and car fired up and ran for about an hour when the new started that was just replaced also burt...this happened two more times...the car has been broke for two years now.i have it at an independent mechanic shop with another starter....they cannot find the short in the electrical system thats causing this starter to fry! the car starts fine...idles fine...until you drive it for about 3or 4 miles and then the starter starts burning....i can stop the car when i hear the starter winding and burning and take the key completely out and the starter stays stuck in starting position till it burns completely up....there definitely is an electrical issue that no one has heard of,and very hard to fix....updated 10/20/15 *bf the consumer stated the tipm was shorting out and causint the starter to burn. the vehicle was repaired. the ignition lock was also replaced because the key would stick upon starting the vehicle. updated 2/24/2016*js *cn

Electronic throttle control light blinks. loss of engine power with hard breaking. rough and high idle when in park. when turned off and back on again, car runs fine and etc light turns off.

while driving my car, the electronic throttle control light came on and the car lost power and would not accelerate. i have researched this problem and it seems that it is a common occurrence. please recall now for safety reasons! *tr

While driving this morning, my car hesitated and stalled. i was able to get my car restarted, but the check engine light came on. after a couple of minutes of driving, the electronic throttle control light came on and the car lost power and would not accelerate. it was very stressful because this all happened during rush hour traffic in washington dc. i have researched this problem and it seems that it is a common occurrence... please recall now for safety reasons!!!! *tr

I went to roll my driver side window down and it fell off the track down into the door. my mechanic said the motor was broken and repaired it. a year later today my passenger side window did the exact same thing. i wondered if it could possibly be a defect in the factory motor or it is just a coincidence and if all my windows are going to do this eventually. *tr

This first occurred going down the interstate at 50mph the etcs light started blinking and all throttle was gone..giving the gas was doing nothing an unfortunately i was in a construction area an had no where to pull off of the interstate so had blocked traffic to turn car of an restart to limp off the nxt exit..changed the electronic throttle control sensor fixed the issue for about 500 miles an the sensor was $600 only for it to fail again an after research i see a lot of the same car is having this same problem. this needs to be a recall ! it is very dangerous on an interstate with no throttle to get your car to safety. *tr

I was driving my car one night and the dash board lights went off and then they started to flicker off and on. now when i turn on my headlights they just don't come on so when i'm driving at night i can't see how fast i'm going or anything illumination for the speedometer. once in a while i may see it illuminate at night but it never stays on. *tr

I was driving 25 mph when the electronic throttle control indicator light came on. the light remained lit while i was driving. the speed of my car decreased and i was not able to accelerate when pushing the gas pedal. my car seemed as if it was coasting. i turned my car around to park it. when i pressed the brakes my car seemed like it wanted to shut off. my car began jerking. i did not make it even 1 mile from my home before this took place. *jb

While driving on highway, etc light came on signifying problem with throttle component. after doing research, it appears that this is an ongoing problem with dodge vehicles including the 2008 avenger. many statements online urged to open claim here as this can be an expensive problem that is not covered by warranty or recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge avenger. the contact stated that while driving 50 mph, the voltage indicator began to illuminate and the engine would not accelerate. the contact was able to maneuver the vehicle into a turning lane with less traffic. the vehicle was then towed to the dealer. the dealer diagnosed the vehicle and informed the contact that they were unable to find a failure. the vehicle was taken to a personal mechanic and the alternator was replaced. two weeks later, the failure recurred and the contact remained on the side of the highway for three hours, at which time she was able to successfully start the vehicle. a week later, the failure recurred again. in each instance the vehicle would start and have power, but would not accelerate. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 91,631 and the current mileage was 93,046.

While pulling out from a stoplight and accelerating up a grade, my 2008 dodge avenger made a loud popping noise and began to sputter and lose power. the car would not go over 10 mph and a lighting bolt symbol appeared on my dash display. i drifted the car to the side of the road and could not move. after letting it sit and turning the car off and on, the lighting bolt image on my dash disappeared and the car could be driven. since then, the car sporadically stutters for no apparent reason and i then pull off the gas fearing a repeat of the above incident. *tr

Driving my car fine one minute, get in it the next day and there's an lighting bolt on my dash. the car won't go over 20mph. the light blinks than i shut car off and restart it and the light just stays on. couple weeks later the light goes away. then weeks later after a month of no light, light comes back on. i take it to dealer and they say the codes for the throttle showed up. they cleaned it out,put a new filter on and sent me on my way. driving for a good week with no light, here comes light again. sometimes it resets it self after i restart car but now the light stays on. 20mph. chrysler needs to recall this car. too many people with the same car, same problem and they just ignore. *tr

I have been receiving electronic throttle control errors for about a year now (lightning bolt between inverted parenthesis). it happens sporadically but seems to occur more frequently. the last episode occurred today on my morning commute to work - 04/04/2012, approximately 0725. the error code will flash and it becomes more difficult to accelerate. when i take my foot off of the gas pedal to decelerate, the car will 'jerk'. so far, i have been fortunate enough to continue driving the vehicle until i can find a place to pull over. usually, i can turn the car off then back on and the error code disappears. the car will drive normally. i am now experiencing these issues 3-4 times per week. this issue is chronicled on the internet with details in different forums. this seems to be an on-going frequent issue that dodge is aware of. from what i have researched, the dealership mechanics seem to be at a loss on how to repair and suggest different repairs that don't work...unless that is their aim. in a time that people are financially struggling, these manufacturers need to repair the issues they know about. *tr

I noticed a problem with my car on march 29, 2012 as i attempted to get into my car to run an errand. my car would not start...cranked up but wouldn't start. never, ever, had that problem so i didn't know what to do since it was about 7:30pm. i left well enough alone until the next morning. attempted to start car at that point and my car started. i drove over to a goodyear facility to see if they could find out the problem and i was informed there was nothing they could do about whatever problem i had the previous night because my car was starting up. okay, fine. well, on april 1, 2012, i was driving on a busy road going about 45mph and all of a sudden my car just stopped on me while driving. as i tried to turn, my steering wheel was like it was stuck and wouldn't maneuver. at that point, i was able to pull to the side since i was close to a sidewalk. i turned my ignition off and waited a few min before trying to start my car again. tried 2 times, but didn't start up. the third time i tried, my car started up and i was able to turn around to head back home before this problem happen again. i took my car back in to goodyear the next morning after explaining about my car stopping in the middle of driving. they ran a scan and found nothing. after that, i went online and saw on motortrend.com that a recall was issued on april 2, 2008 which was the same month i purchased my car. i called chrysler to inquire about the recall because i never received a letter. was told to bring it into a dodge dealer, which i did this afternoon on 4/3/12, and they found nothing after running a diagnostic test. something is wrong with my car, that's for sure. because a car just doesn't kill in the middle of driving for no reason. a recall is needed for this problem because it appears a lot of other owners are having this same problem. this is a very dangerous situation. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2008 dodge avenger. the contact stated that the driver side window made a abnormal noise. the contact mentioned that the window fractured within the driver side door. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who repaired the vehicle, but the parts repaired or replaced were unknown. two years after the initial repair, the failure recurred and the driver side window fractured into the door paneling. in addition, the vehicle was difficult to shift from park. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

Ever since i purchased my 2008 dodge avenger i have been burdened with a multitude of issues. my car stalled while i was sitting at a red light, no warning..it just died. tire pressure light was always on. vehicle launches/ jerks forward when cruising at a speed of 45 or below. (and this all happened with my first year of owning the car in 2008) in 2011 gear stick got stuck in the park position..i can go on but section is for airbags, which did not deploy during an accident i had last year, 2012. i slipped on black ice, which sent my car into a tail spin resulting me hitting...actually bouncing off of the guard rail a few times. prior to the 2012 accident i have had instances where the airbag lights would randomly turn on, indicating a problem..then shutting off by itself. i would schedule appointments with the dealership, but by the time the appointment date arrives, the airbag light would magically disappear! i called dodge customer service today, as the airbag indicator is back on again..i was told by the representative that there is nothing that they can do for me. she basically told me that i'm fresh out of luck, even though there is a recall, and i am experiencing the exact airbag issue as described in the recall, own the exact make, model and year vehicle. she said my vin is not included in the recall, so there is nothing dodge can do. i think the entire 2008 dodge avenger fleets are lemons and it is about time dodge own up to their mistakes, they have no regard for their customers safety. when you are not stalling on the highways and byways, you are left stranded because you can not shift your gear out of park...oh and the airbag issue...its crucial, but unfortunalely dodge does not think so. *tr

While driving the car all of a sudden the cruise control shifts off and the rpms start going up to 5 rpms if i barely touch the gas. so i pull over and shut the car off and then the car will not crank back up. have replaced the battery and alternator both two times. *tr updated 3/30/2016*js

I own a 2008 dodge avenger, purchased in 2008 with 20,000 miles on it, i had not had any problems with the vehicle until august 2011 when my vehicle completely shut off on me while i was going 70 miles an hour, lost all power, it was as if my car was not even on. i managed to get to the side of the road before i went back down to 0 mph, my car would not turn back on and i had it towed to a shop, they stated that my battery was bad and i needed a new one, i was surprised because the battery is not even 3 years old. i got a new battery and continued to have problems with my rpm's and my car did not accelerate as it should have nor has before, my rpm's jerk up and down and make my car shake while in park. now in 2012 two weeks ago i was driving 40 miles per hour and all of a sudden i felt like i lost power and my bolt light came on as well as my check engine light, i took it to shop and they stated that it was nothing, i need to reset my computer and they tried, i replaced my air filer, put fluids in my car to clean it out. i called dodge and they claim i need an update on my computer, i told them my problem and they did not have a steady answer, i feel this needs to be recalled i see many upset customers and a car just shutting off and slowing down losing power in the middle of driving can no be safe, and they are saying there is nothing wrong with the vehicle? there is obviously something wrong if it just shuts off and the check light comes on and it does not accelerate over 25 miles per hour. *tr

Driving on the freeway and my 2008 dodge avenger suddenly loses power and begins to idle and run rough. the red electric bolt sign came on and was flashing. car continued to run funny not having normal power and unable to accelerate. when i turned the car off and then back on it reset. ? *tt
