Problems with 2000 Chrysler Concorde ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Chassis integrity. the chassis mounts deteriotion in less than four years resulted in the struts malfunctioning, the transmission coolant lines leaking to the extent that the transmission could not be powered while driving on an interstate highway. *ak

My 2000 chrysler concord engine began a loud knocking, after taking it to a mechanic, he informed us that the engine was shot (possibly a rod). i have read "coutless" accounts of this problem. i paid for a year and a half for a car i can not even drive. why with so many complaints about these engines isn't something being done? something needs to be done, and amends need to be made. ak

My son was going about 46 miles an hour when the car just quit i took it to the dealer and was told the the engine just feel apart for no reason. i had the oil changed every three thousand miles and it has 90,000 .he was on a major hiway and was very lucky no one hit him.*ak

Engine failure @70,000 miles .seems like a common problem for 2.7l engines in concorde,interpide,sebring and stratus. regular oil changes every 3000 miles, belts changed car has been babied. car seized while taking in for oil change and oil light came on. with no other indications of problems. *cb

2000 chrysler concorde engine blew due to oil sludge buildup (car has 59100 miles on it) according to internet testimonials, lots of other people have had the same problem when it reaches a certain mileage. chrysler does not want to assist. dealership stated that 4 of the same kind of cars have been in with the same problem recently. how is the consumer protected from cars that are not made to last 3 years with proper maintenance?*ak

While making a left turn, the engine blew out. when this occurred it broke valves and the vehicle lost power. the consumer was almost hit by another vehicle. *ak the mechanic informed the consumer the parts in the vehicle were too small and the engine was not getting enough oil. *jb

driving our 2000 chrysler concorde along atlantic city expressway oil light came on, we went to pull off road immediately and engined died. we had to replace engine , mechanic indicated sludge in engine and advised that there was a problem with these engines.we had no warning of this until oil light came on and engined died immediately after it came on. we were fortunate to get the vehicle onto the shoulder. *ak

I had bought a 2000 chrysler concorde in 2001. the car had been acting funny. the oil light came on during stops, the engine would rev up without my pushing the accelerator, the engine was knocking. i took the car to my regular mechanic & paid for repairs that did not solve the problem. then, soon after i took the car to a chrysler dealership repair service and they replaced the camsensor. it seemed to correct the problems. about 6 weeks later all of the problems returned. i immediately stopped driving the vehicle except when i drove it back to the service center at the dealership the next morning. they replaced the camsensor again. the next day, my engine froze and now needs to be replaced. it was not under warranty. therefore, niether chrysler nor the dealership will take responsibility for my loss.

A knocking noise started coming from the front of vehicle and started vibrating uncontrollably. the driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, the vehicle then vehicle stalled. the driver tried to restart it, but was unable to do so. the vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. the mechanic informed the driver that the engine needed replacement due to sludge build up. please fill in additional information. *jb *tr

The engine on my 2000 chrysler concorde failed. i made it to a dealer before the car actually quit. i have only 80,000 miles on the car and have been told i need a new engine for $7,100. i have since found out that this is a common problem with the chrysler 2.7l engine even though the dealership who sold me this car never mentioned it to me.

I have a 2000 chrysler concord that has needed repeated work. some has been fixed and others not. my first complaint to them was the heater not cooling. of course it always worked when the dealership looked at it. i have had the paint touched two times over the driver's door on the roof, the seal will stay around the head lights. the trunk leaked and had to be repaired. the oil light came on at random times and the car overheated on the 4th of july and again three weeks later. the dealership replaced an oil send receive sensor on the car but could not get it to overheat and told me to bring it back on a hot day. on august 8, 2003 i brought it back to the dealership hot and they have had it every since then. the car continues to overheat, yet they will not call it a lemon. i need a car to drive and i am making payments on something that i do not even have.*ak

I had owned my 2000 chrysler concorde for approximatly three years when the engine failed. there was little if any warning of the failure in the way of dashboard indicators, etc. when driving, the engine stalled and would not start again. the servicing mechanic advised that a sludge build-up in the oil reserve had caused a failure of the engine to such an extent that the engine had to be replaced. after i investigated further, i've seen other such complaints about the 2.7 liter engine that i had replaced. many of the complaints point to a too-narrow oil distribution system in the engine, that leads to premature failure. i believe the engine is of faulty design, and is unfit for distribution.*ak

As other complaints indicate, my oil light started coming on at <700 rpms, car maintenance schedule maintained as instructed, car has 137,000 miles and owe more than its worth now. can't afford new car, can't afford to pay to replace engine, other complaints indicate sludge problem, i'm taking to mechanic this afternoon, and expect to be told the same thing.*ak

The engine developed serious varnishing at top of engine after coolant was changed at 30,000 miles. engine totally failed at 60,000 due to varnish and sludge build up. this well maintained chrysler 2.7 liter v6 failed at an alarming rate. the technical service bulletin 07-002-02 was issued by chrysler regarding coolant servicing. they tell me coolant had nothing to do with varnish and sludge and they refused any help or assistance. repair is estimated over $6,000. *jb

The engine of my 2000 chrysler concord failed while i was driving the car on october 13, 2004.i have slightly over 60,000 miles on the car and it is 4 1/2 years old.*ak i had the car towed to my dealership. upon inspection, they stated that they "found engine sludged up causing minimal amount of oil pressure (rod bearings and timing chain bad)" they stated the engine needed to be replaced at an estimated cost of $7000 plus tax. the service manager, pete, said that this engine is a continual problem and that they hate to see these cars come in for repair. i had the automobile towed to a private repair shop on october 19,2004 for a second opinion. the repair shop came back with the same issue and a repair estimate of $5400. the repair shop also stated that they have done several of these engine replacements to the chrysler 2.7l engine. that there engine has a very poor design that leads to sludge pulling into the engine even with regular and timely oil changes. it is a problem of the engineering design of the engine. i have performed the oil changes on the vehicle based on the recommended miles in the owners manual. i still owe about $4800 on a vehicle that does not run due to a manufacturing defect. chrysler refuses to extend their warrenty. there should be no need to replace such a low mileage engine that has been properly cared for.

Consusmer is hearing a noise from underneath vehicle. consumer assumes it may be the tie rod. consumer has been to the dealer twice, but they haven't found anything wrong. *ak the dealer replaced the mount, insulator for front suspension and bearing-suspension strut. *yh

While in heavy traffic vehicle surges and may cause a frontal impact. dealer cannot determine the cause of the problem. however, dealer replaced engine components. transmission changed, surge still continues. *ak
