Fueled up vehicle, car stalled as i was leaving the gas station. this has happened numerous times. again when we were entering freeway after fueling up, the car stalled in the middle of the street. the car has also stalled going around a round-about. car was able to start after the stall with no other incident. *tr
After filling gas tank, the engine stalls repeatedly. when it stalls, power steering is lost and car comes to stop sometimes in traffic. the engine then cranks normally. i took it to the dealer and they changed the egr valve which did not fix the problem. suggested shotgun approach. *tr
Every time i fill up my car at gas station, right afterwards it stalls at low speeds 4-6 times before resolving. it also was stuttering at speeds of up to 35 mph. four times i have nearly missed being involved in an accident due to this malfunction. *tr
2006 chrysler 300c-(aprox. 45000 miles) car started randomly shutting off when stopping or turning. problem became more frequent to shutting off while driving, idling, and shifting backwards. chrysler replaced the fuel tank but problem continues. told by the chrysler dealership we need to replace the fuel pumps as they aren't working properly but at our own expense. independent mechanic said pumps seem to be working fine. does not register a code on diagnostic test. our car has 45,000 miles and this is a known problem...we should not be having engine stalling troubles!! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. while driving approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was coasted to the side of the road. after restarting, the vehicle, it resumed normal operation. the failure occurred only after refueling to the full capacity level. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but the mechanic could not locate the failure. the contact was advised not to fill the fuel tank to maximum capacity. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 75,000.
The car stalled right after being filled with gas. i restarted the car pulled forward and stopped for traffic and it stalled again. it restarted and went a few blocks and stalled again. i was able to restart the car and it did not stall again. i drove it home and have not driven it again. this is a know problem by chrysler. they say it is the fuel valve and have replaced the tanks on some cars but not all that are having the problem. i intend to see if they will replace my gas tank under the warranty but others have had a problem with them covering it. chrysler is calling their recall the x53 19 gallon extended warranty program. thank you. *tr
Car continues to lose power in the midst of driving down the highway it in traffic. we experienced power failure some 45 times last night driving home. at one point we could not go faster than 45 mph. the fuel pump has been changed and the issue has not stopped. now the chrysler tech says that the computer is not communicating with the transmission and a module is needed. this problem has existed for quite some time now and we don't know now what to do and i'm afraid we will have a deadly accident with this vehicle going dead while driving down the road or highway in traffic. there is no warning prior to stopping it just stops.
Once again i am driving my car and it stalled in the middle of traffic i was almost rear-ended with my son in the back seat because i got gas for my car. chrysler needs to be responsible and fix this issue. i took my car to the dealership and they told me good luck with getting it fixed because the gas tank is on back order and they don't know when it will be in. i am an single parent and this is my only car that i have and i am afraid to drive it because it stalls. now i am wondering if by suddenly losing power if this is going to affect the engine in the long run. i don't know what to do i guess chrysler is going to wait until a family or someone is killed because the car dies in traffic until they do something. *tr
After fueling (filling) our 2006 300c the car was started successfully. after engaging the transmission and pulling away from the pump the engine suddenly stalled. after letting the car sit for a few minutes, the car successfully restarted and continued to run. this has happened a couple times a month since the first incident. *tr
Filled up with gas. while driving 30 mph car stalled going down a hill and brakes became rigid. to try to avoid crashing into other vehicle i went over a sidewalk. tire broke, hit a tree and had to shut off car to stop car as brakes were not stopping the car. then i ended damage another vehicle because of busy traffic. this all happened because the car stopped less than 5 minutes after refueling. *tr
2006 chrysler 300c. stalls shortly after fueling. does not resolve until the gas cap has been removed and allowed to sit. called the dealership and they say my car does not fall under the recall parameters. was told to reference this number pe13-016. *tr
Takata inflator ,engine failure, fuel tank replaced vehicle wass shutting off while driving before fuel tank was replaced and after fuel tank was replaced.. under a extended life time warranty. took to another dealership in palestine texas told them vehicle was shutting off while driving and fuel tank was replaced by another dealership in tyler texas. they could not figure out what was wrong , they said it was ok to drive until they receive a response from chrysler (a star case)or something like that.they said there was no response from chrysler until one day ii went to start the car and it didn't start. i called dealership in palestine dealership, had it towed to them. 16 miles later and 15 days later,i was told i needed complete motor. metal pieces in intake and 2valve seats had dropped.later on 11/20/2015 had the head took off to confirm damages to the head and valves.also on 12/19/2014 when vehicle towed in,they started the vehicle and was accelerating the car i was right there in the waiting room, thinking it's fixed, then come tell me i need a motor .
Engine stalls after filling up with gas. *tr
I drove my 2006 chrysler 300c hemi with my soon to be wife and 4 year old daughter to go food shopping and was low on gas after shopping i filled the tank up at a chevron station and as i tried to pull out of the station it died. it took 3 tries and it started again then on the freeway as i was changing lanes it died again in the middle of traffic and i was scared to death for the safety of my fiance and small child i coasted to a stop in the middle lane because i couldn't get over either way with cars behind me honking i calmly tried to start the car and on the 3rd try it started and got us back to martinez. it died twice more at stop signs and a light. very dangerious. i bought the car a week ago because my fianc is 6 months pregnant. and i wanted her to have a 4 door to make it easy on her with the kids. *js
On the first of july i was preparing for a trip and stop at a gas station to fill up. on my way home from the gas station my car stalled while going down the road. i lost power steering, brakes, etc, and was lucky that i was able to bring the vehicle to a stop safely and get the vehicle home, stalling several more times. i looked on the internet to see if i could determine what had gone wrong and i found that there is a defect with the gas tank on my vehicle and that due to an agreement with the fed gov and chrysler. it was determined that chrysler was going to extend the warranties on this gas tank to replace the defective ones without a recall. i contacted my local chrysler dealer and they ordered the parts and told me it would be approximately 2 weeks before a repair could take place. two weeks later i contacted the dealer and was told that the parts were on back order. i wrote an email to chrysler asking for clarification and i was told the following "according to our records your vehicle was included in the x53 19 gallon fuel tank extended warranty. unfortunately at this time the parts to perform the x53 repair are currently on a restriction with the dealerships having access to order 1 part every 14 days for the one repair and 1 part every 7 days for the other repair. at this time we recommend continuing to work with your dealership to have this repair completed." i has now been 4 weeks and i still to not have this vehicle repaired. this response is unacceptable to me and is a safety concern to me and i think for other drivers who have the same issue!! i ask the nhtsa relook this issue an address chrysler to expedite replacement of the defective tanks before someone gets injured. *js
After filling my fuel tank, the car idled erratically, surged, and died multiple times, usually right after takeoff. this has happened every time i have filled my fuel tank for the last several months, and has nearly caused an accident on more than one occasion. *tr
Very soon after purchasing the 2006 chrysler 300c (used), it began shutting off while driving. obviously this is incredibly dangerous. after "googling" is seems people all over with this vehicle have had similar problems, an some were attributing this to filing up the gas tank. we took due caution not to fill up the tank (how ridiculous is this?) and the problem has continued. an extended warranty was purchased from the ford dealership we purchased at. after the run around about who actually "fixes" the car, it was taken to a chrysler dealership who charged us $400.00 for a battery and then replaced some wiring harness which did nothing. we are back at it with the dealership. i see an article in the la times on the internet saying to take the vehicle back to the dealership. that's not helping. we haven't put 2,000 miles on this vehicle in almost a year now. it is unsafe to drive and has no value. help. nhtsa obviously knows about this. http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/la-fi-hy-chrysler-engine-stalls-20130514-story.html. *tr
Car stalls & chokes after fuel fill-up. problem has continued with every fill-up since it first happened. *tr
At the gas station at low idle right after fueling car shut off. shut off again at low speed the next day, no further fueling has taken place as of yet. *tr
Continues to stall and ultimately stop while driving
The 300 had a recall on the fuel tank, which was replaced january 2015 by tate in frederick md. since then the stalling issue has gotten worse. i took the car to tate 4 times, and was told 4 different diagnostics. 1= transmission, 2= battery, 3=plugs & coils, 4=canister for extra fuel. i replaced the spark plugs & coils. which didn't correct the issue. i took it to a 2nd dealer. darcar's in rockville md and they are now telling me that its the transmission control module & power control module. my car no matter if there is a full tank or a 1/4 of tank stalls when i am at idle. it can stall once or the max is 9 times. i have a 1 1/2 year old & 5 year old which is a safety issue. i found this forum, which are other people having the same issue & different dealers are throwing different parts. i don't think the replacement of the fuel tank corrected this true issue. can you please help me with discovering the true cause and making the cars safe for the drivers and passengers? *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300 c. the contact stated that after refueling and driving 5 mph, the engine stalled without warning. the contact restarted that vehicle and the failure recurred one half mile later. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the fuel valve was damaged and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 90,850.

After i fill up (i do not overfill), within the first several miles i drive, the vehicle will stall when slowing down for a stop light. i have also had it that at 40-50 mph it will "hesitate/jerk" like there is a fuel mix issue. this has happened two times in the last week. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that while driving 5 mph after refueling the vehicle, the engine stalled. the contact restarted the vehicle 3 times and the vehicle functioned properly after the third restart. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the charcoal canister needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 88,000.
The car will stall every time after i fill up the gas. yesterday i went to fill up the tank ( not all the way full ), after i drove about 1 block, the car stalled. i had to drive about 10 miles back home and the car stalled 8 times already. it was very scary because i don't know when the car will die on me when i'm on the road and cars are behind me and just very afraid of someone is going to struck me from behind when my car die on me suddenly. *js
After fueling up about 1 mile later as i left a red light the motor just stalled as soon as it took off with no warning no power steering i couldn't control the vehicle in the middle of a busy road had to put the car and park and re start the motor it happens whenever i refuel very dangerous. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle would stall and could not be restarted until after several attempts. the failure would recur whenever the vehicle was refueled. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed or repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
A couple months ago after filling my car up with gas i went to get in line at car wash car died .. started up after 4-5 tries drove home ran fine. today i filled up again took off went to get on freeway merged onto traffic car died again!! i coasted onto shoulder, thank god i didn't get hit.. had my two minor children in car.. after 3 tries car started again, went straight home.. scared to drive anymore.. taking to dealer to be checked tomorrow.. hope this issue gets fixed before someone seriously gets hurt or even killed!! *tr
In january i filed a safety complaint on this web site regarding the stalling of my chrysler 300c after filling the gas tank (odi # 10561779). over the last two and a half months the problem has persisted, with the only way to avoid the problem was to only fill the gas tank to 3/4 full. on 2/24/14 i saw the abc news report that stated "us ends probe of chrysler engine stalling" and the article states they investigated 1200 complaints and found 299 in which the fuel system allowed the gas tank to be over-filled. it also stated that "chrysler updated the part in new cars and guaranteed it for life in cars now on the road." when my chrysler dealer (who has been taking care of my chrysler since i bought it there new in 2/2006) was contacted, he stated that only certain vin numbers were being covered. he told me i could call chrysler and speak to them. i called the 1-800-992-1997 chrysler customer service this morning. i explained about the stalling and that i had filed a complain back in december 2013 regarding the consistent stalling when the tank is filled. i explained my chrysler dealer stated my car was not on their list, and to call chrysler. the representative informed me that they were only fixing certain cars and mine was not one of them and that i could take it to the dealer and pay to have it fixed. when i asked if it turned out to be the exact same part that was being replaced, would they cover it, i was informed they would not. i am unsure what factors guided chrysler on which cars to fix, but it appears that they have left out at least my car which has exactly the same described problem i have seen on the complaint web site. *tr

Car stalled after fill up...stalled several times. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300 c. the contact stated that after refueling to capacity and driving 5 mph, the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the check valve was fractured and the fuel tank needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 161,000.
The engine abruptly stalls shutting down power steering and brakes while in traffic and oil pressure is reading 0. turn ignition switch off and car restarts perfectly with nl oil pressures. this has happened twice nearly causing accidents. would probably be fatal if on interstate. there is absolutely no warning. there was also no error codes stored in the cars computer. *tr
After filling up the fuel tank from a start of 1/8 th to full tank, the car stalled after leaving the service station about 200 feet down the road while stopped at a light. after getting the vehicle restarted i began to accelerate from the stopped position but driving power train was fairly erratic as the car attempted to lurch forward or accelerate unpredictably then would pull back by nearly stalling. this continued for several miles before reaching my driveway. the car while in neutral loped substantially from 2000 rpm to 100rpm several times before stalling. attempting to start the car after stalling was successful. leaving the car parked and off for 60 minutes had no beneficial effect. after returning the starting was very difficult and the instrument panel gauges were not lit until the car started again. the car continues to be idle erratically both while in park and in drive and at slow speeds. *tr
After filling up with fuel at bp gas station my engine sped up 300 rpm and shut-off in the station. i restated it and it ran with a slight hesitation. i could smell raw fuel coming out of the exhaust. it stalled 3 more times within 20 mins. one time on a sharp curve in the road. i had no power steering; good thing it wasn't my wife driving. *tr
If vehicle is filled up with gas until full car will stall shortly after fill-up. *tr
I filled up my tank at the bp service station on rt. 17 paramus, nj and the car stalled entering the highway, (rt. 17 south) stalled three more times on the highway, had to pull into a shopping center to get it to idle. stalled at the intersection on linwood avenue and paramus road, paramus nj and barely made it home to franklin turnpike in ridgewood, nj. i had to burn off a few gallons of gas at idle and high idle to get the car to normalize at idle and make it road worthy and safe to drive. *ln
After many incidents we have determined that after filling with fuel, the vehicle stalls many times in approximately the next 5 miles, makes the vehicle very scary to drive. difficult to get the whole family and station attendants to understand that this car can not have a full tank of gas. terrible failure that it seems chrysler is ignoring... *tr
I completely filled up my gas tank (not just a top off) friday afternoon. after driving a few miles, while in the turning lane and crossing traffic my car shut itself off. the steering wheel locked up and i was unable to steer to safety. i had to put the car in neutral and "coast" to the side. luckily i was turning at the turning light and there wasn't heavy traffic. this was very dangerous and scared me! i tried to start my car and was unable to do so. it wouldn't "turn over" the first time. the second time trying to start it, it didn't seem like it would state and then finally started. the only light that came on (after the car shut itself off) was the oil light. my oil is completely full. it was just changed a month ago using synthetic oil. i had a mechanic look at it and was told that there was nothing wrong with it. *tr
Vehicle stalled at low speed. the date indicated is believed to be approximately the first time this occurred. it has occurred about 6 times in the last two years, the last being on jan 2, 2015. this last occurrence happened just after filling the tank, and within 1 mile. the vehicle stalled when approaching the entrance gate to the housing complex, again when arriving at the house, and once more while sitting idle. *tr
Hello, i am a current chrysler vehicle owner and ive been having issues where my 2006 chrysler 300c srt8 which just shuts off without any warnings or trouble codes reported to the cars computer. there are times when im driving on a busy highway and the car will just stall out. each time i take my car to the auto mechanics, they arent able to identify anything wrong as there arent any codes detected. my vehicle even stalled while at the mechanics shop and they still werent able to assist as no codes were triggered. over the past 2 years, ive spent thousands of dollars and countless hours, stuck on major highs as well as replacing car components in a big effort of trying to resolve this concern. to date, i am still experiencing these anxieties. ive been out on relative web sites looking this problem up and it appears this has been happening to thousands of chrysler srt/srt8 owners and they are dealing with same concerns that i am. im including a url link to one of the blog of 10+ pages of complaints from owners who are lost, confused and dont know what to do. http://www.chargerforums.com/forums/archive/index.php/t-47313.html one of the major reasons why i am asking for some assistance is both awareness to the general public, as there could be serious accidents as a result. another reason is a proactive effort at hoping to get assistance to get feedback from chrysler to help resolve these concerns.
After filling up with gas drove to stop light and car stalled. had hard time starting. took to pensacola chrysler and the mechanic said we needed a new gas tank . 2100$'s. *tr
Vehicle stalled 3 times after filling up the gas tank. very close to a multiple car pile up behind me. tank was not topped off and never has. chrysler knows this is a problem yet refuses to help the owners of these vehicles. the gas tank is faulty, causing raw fuel to enter the evap system. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated while driving 10 mph after refueling the vehicle, the engine stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the entire fuel tank needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000. the current mileage was 121,000.
The car chime will chime, the engine acts like it wants to stall, losing power for about 3 seconds, then it's fine. i received a sort of recall from chrysler about the problem, i called the dealership in raynham, ma., the first week of feb., 2015. i was told it would take about 2 weeks for the part. it has now been 9 weeks, and i'm told they are still waiting for 5 orders on this problem. i have had the car stall out, while driving in 35 mph traffic, very dangerous! it doesn't appear to me that chrysler is taking the letter i received stating they came to agreement with nhtsa to seriously!!! *tr
My wife drives this vehicle. every time she fills it up with fuel, the car stalls in traffic 2-3 times immediately after she drives away from the gas station. it will however restart after a few minutes. she has had several close calls that could have resulted in a serious accident. at least once she was driving through a curve when the engine stalled, disabling the power steering where she was no longer able to control the vehicle to a safe stop. the first time this happened, i took it to the dealer and they told me it was my wife's fault because she must be overfilling the tank. they told me to tell her to let the fuel pump nozzle shut off the fuel when the tank was full and not put in any additional fuel after that. well we tried this and it makes absolutely no difference. then i carried it back to the dealer again and they told me that they had since found out from chrysler that this was due to a defective fuel tank issue and the only fix was to replace the tank and associated parts at a cost of approx. $2000. if chrysler knew that the fuel tank was defective, it should be fixed under warranty. chrysler should not be allowed to get away with this. it is a serious safety issue and someone is going to get seriously hurt or killed if they haven't already! please help. thank you. *tr

The problem started about 12 months ago. when ever i re-fuel my car it will shut off several times. it seems to happen more frequently if i let the fuel level get to or below 1/4 tank before re-fueling. the problem will continue at least 10-15 minutes after re-fueling. when the problem first started the car would only shut off at idling or at very slow speed. now the problem will continue to happen even while at street or highway speed. it appears that the fuel flow is interrupted then begins to flow again. this will repeat several times. this only happens after re-fueling. i have not attempted to get it repaired due to no longer having a warranty. my car now has approximately 62000 miles on it. *tr
