I have an 2006 chrysler 300 c and as i was leavening for the day from home my gear shift is stuck in park and will not move. i've google it and this is a very common problem in chrysler. *tr

This car has been in the shop for the last four years. it is on its third engine and now a roll over valve. keep in mind when we lost two engines the car was on an incline. tried to start when we try it acts like it is out of gas. it does not start therefore we have it towed to the dealership for service. two times we have needed a new engine. cylinders 3 or 4 just fell off. one minute it runs great the next minute nothing. i thought it had something to do with a fuel pump. this last time it sputtered then shut down in the middle of the road while doing a u-turn. we tried once to turn it over and again it acted as if it were out of gas, however it was full, approximately 5 miles prior. we did not continue to try to start it and had it towed. the car sat over night. the service guy said it started right up in the morning. (monday morning) this afternoon, tuesday they called with the diagnoses of a roll over valve. i do believe this is the reason we lost two engines. is this a lemon or is this nagging valve that is a very big problem for many going to be a recall as the next problem will be gas leaking everywhere or venting to the air or both. do not want to pull out into traffic for the car to fail so my family could answers yes to all three above questions "that would be suicide" ,and will not spend $ 1700.00 for another good gas tank when the actual part that cost $0.50 could be located outside the gas tank. *tr

My vehicle will stall out on me intermittently. it mostly happens right after i get finished putting gas in my car. unlike most other stories i've read about overfilling the gas tank, this happens to me sometimes when i put just a half of a tank of gas in my car. now, as of nov. 7, 2013, it's done it well over 100 times; that's since the first time it happened in may. the dealership is a complete scam. they know this is a defect. they've charged me to fix everything from egr valves to pcms to spark plugs. nothing has worked.then finally i decide to do some deep research, that's when i decided to file my complaint. there are 2 major issues i have. when at highway speeds, i'll lose all power and throttle response for a split second, then it'll kick back in. it's extremely dangerous, to say the least. the more frequent problem, is the car completely cutting off while either at idle, or traveling at a lower speed. both situations happen almost always directly after i put gas in my car. this happens so much that it is becoming unbearable. sometime it starts back up, and sometimes i have to wait a minute or two. it's ridiculous. i don't mind paying to have my car serviced. however, diagnose the problem, know that's the problem, and let's get it fixed. don't run me through $3,000 worth of repairs, knowing that you've got countless others with the same model and model year, coming in around the same time, complaining about the same problem. you know what it is. that's no coincidence. and quite frankly, it's fraudulent. i've got my 5 year old son riding in the back seat. what happens the next time my car stalls out on the highway and loses power, with another car tailgating me? what if it's a tractor trailer next time? will they have enough time to brake or plow into the back of me? more unnecessary stress and worry for the loyal consumer. thanks chrysler. *tr

The car stalls randomly. there seem to be two scenarios when the stalls occur. one scenario is at idle (less than 1000 rpm). the car will just stall at a red light, at a stop sign, a rolling stop, when driving at very low speeds, etc. the other scenario is at wot. all the dash light s flash on and off quickly, the car lurches violently, loss of power, occasional stall. these two situations may or not be related to each other. i have had the fuel tank replaced already because of the stalling that was occurring after fuel fill up. that took care of that specific stalling scenario. there still remain these two stalling scenarios. they are very well documented in the online forums. many drivers are experiencing the same symptoms. it seems to be happening to all 5.7 and 6.1 hemis in the 300s, chargers, challengers and jeeps. no dealers can find a definitive solution. i and many others love our cars, but this is just unacceptable. we don't want to give up on chrysler, we just want a solution. this is a very dangerous situation. our cars are stalling randomly. this is similar to the gm stalling debacle. please help us prevent a chrysler/dodge/jeep debacle. by the way, thank you for your work in helping to find a solution on the fuel fill stalling issue. the lifetime fuel tank replacement was an adequate solution. i must note to you that included in the fix was a statement saying that "this did not represent a dangerous or life-threatening situation." i disagree 100%. i almost died a few times due to the random stalling after fuel fill. we all know the dangers of random stalling - just ask gm car owners. *tr

Engine intermittently stalls while either idling or driving. stalls are increasingly more frequent. unable to get a diagnosis of problem. have replaced the pcm but no change in problem occurrence. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that the gear shifter failed. the contact stated that she was unable to get the vehicle out of park. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they advised the contact that the shifter assembly needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. the failure mileage was 148,000. the vin was unavailable.

Im hoping this post will get us some help and answers about the problems we are having with our 2006 chrysler 300c. we bought the car in november of 2011. it had less than 33,000 miles and was in great condition. we absolutely loved this car for about the first year, but then the trouble started and it is now an ongoing nightmare. it started stalling and dying constantly, usually when we were going slow or stop and go, but a few times when driving 35-45 mph. we had purchased a 2 year/20,000 added warranty when we bought the car (expires in nov 2013 which has me worried) so all of the servicing and repairs have been done at our local dealer. so far, they have done throttle body clean, cleaned a/f box and replaced filter, coolant flush, steering system flush, fuel kit, changed out fuel tank, vapor canister, leak detection pump filter, new factory battery, complete tune up, oil changes, and more. not all of this was covered by the warranty, so we have spent thousands of our own money on repairs and rental car all the times it has been in the shop since it is our only car. on october 16, we had to have the car towed back to the dealer because it was dying again and wouldn't stay cranked once put in gear and start moving. as of this morning, still no word from them on what they think it is this time, and yet another rental bill while we wait. in the two years we have had this car, we have only put about 10,000 miles on it, it has less than 43,000 miles. this car has way too few miles and has been too well taken care of for it to be having this many problems. all the things they have done and its still doing the same thing! this is a big safety issue because when it dies, you have very little to none of the steering and brakes. luckily, we have not had it die in major traffic yet, but i am afraid to drive it now for fear that we are going to be in a wreck because of it. *tr

I was driving north on the njtp and was in the process of passing another car when suddenly my car went into neutral or disengaged from the transmission. the engine accelerated, but there was no power transferred to the road. i had to pull into the break down lane and turn off the engine with the hope that the electronic module would reset itself so that i could engage drive gear. the procedure worked, but now the transmission readily disengages from drive with light to moderate throttle application. clearly, there is something major wrong with the transmission or its electronic management that could prove dangerous to me or other vehicles on the road. *tr

Filled up the car and upon pulling onto the highway the car stalls and shuts off.very dangerous situation for my family as well as others.i am surprised thus far, very thankful,no fatalities have been reported. *js

Stalls after i fill up and jerks violently when moving slowly 0 to 20 mph and hesitates when driving 30 and over if i don't drive around drive around in a parking lot for apx 10 min it will stop in traffic and possibly causing a rear end collision. *tr

Started stalling after fill up's apx 1 year ago. i do not drive it alot. apx 55000 miles on it. first thought was due to changing octane but been using for 4 months . stalls, bucks, surges. cleared up after apx 5 to 10 min. *tr

The first time this happened was over a year ago. i had just filled up gas tank and pulled out of lot still in a parking lot of a shopping area. turned left into a fast food place and car shuts down and would not restart until attempted several times. i was able to pull into a parking spot and went inside. came out started car was pulling out of lot into traffic and car shuts down again. this time not to the liking of other drivers or myself. restarted after several attempts drove home and did not happen again till i went on a trip a few months later. half way through the trip i had to refuel and bingo it happened again after pulling out of gas station lot and turning left into traffic. this is not good. i was able to restart after several minutes and continued my trip on interstate without further incident. since then it has been ok until just two days ago the 28th of december 2013. it happened again, after filling up and turning left at slow speed car shut down while pulling into a lot. it finally restarted after several attempts. after reading on line i'm not the only one with this problem. when it happened the first time i took to dealer, that i will never take it to again. short story is they wanted to replace my transmission at the tune of $4500.00. i left there and drove to a transmission shop who diagnosed and said that there was nothing wrong with transmission. problem appears to be getting worst and afraid to fill up and pull out into traffic. from what i understand there seems to be a problem with the fuel tank and related components. please chrysler fix this problem, i love my 300c. *tr

After filling up my gas tank, i encountered numerous stalls while driving. thankfully, it was city driving early in the morning. since then, i have encountered numerous situations where the car has stalled after filling up. i initially thought it was bad gas (i.e. water in my gas tank), however, i have since varied the fueling stations and brands i use and have seen no effect. it always seems to happen after i fill up, and it seems to go away after the tank has emptied a bit. the latest encounter was yesterday (i filled up two days prior) while i had my family in the car - multiple stalls in mid-day city traffic. and again this morning. the gas tank is still quite full (it shows over "f" on the gauge). i _never_ top off when i fill - i simply wait until the filler turns itself off when filling. i have never seen this problem prior to the first occurrence in mid november of 2012, which i initially (as indicated) wrote off as bad gas due to hurricane sandy (i figured the storm may have caused water in the tanks of gas stations). after hearing about numerous issues on this, i wanted to add my experiences to the growing list. the car in question is a 2006 chrysler 300c srt-8. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. while parked, the vehicle was unable to be shifted from park. there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 05v460000 (power train:automatic transmission) that could have been related to the failure. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact that the vin was not included in the recall. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

Went to drive vehicle to a meeting, tried placing the shifter into reverse, shifter wouldn't move. talked to several ase mechanics whom told me that they have had numerous vehicles with this same problem. they also told me that chyrsler should have had a recall on this common problem by now. *tr

I had driven the car to work, then drove a couple of miles to pick up my child, then back to work and parked the car in my parking lot. approximately 30 minutes later when i tried to leave the transmission would not leave park. the engine starts and runs, the brake disengages the shifter but it will not travel downward in its gate to any gear. i immediately did an internet search to find a quick solution, but only found other similar conditions and no recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that the gear shift lever would not shift out of park . the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the hook for the transmission gear shift lever interlock return spring was fractured and needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure who did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 05v460000 (power train:automatic transmission). the vehicle was repaired. the failure and current mileage was 93,021. ...updated 09/12/12 *bf the consumer stated she was issued a refund for the repair cost. updated 09/18/12

The other day i got off work and drove off fine. i went to the bank and used the drive through because i had pulled in a little to far away from the window i put the car in park and reached out. after my transaction was done, i tried to put the car in drive and it was stuck in park. it would not budge. i googled the problem and found that many many people have had this same issue. the internet suggested pushing a pink override button which i did but it did not work. it stated that there was another button to push if that didn't work but that required taking the whole shift gear apart. none the less, had to call a tow and the guy informed that this was a problem with chrysler 300. i have also had a problem with the car stalling when making right turns?? i have only had this car a year. low miles when i bought it. i just knew there was a recall on this and to my surprise there is not. so its sitting at the chrysler dealership and i can't imagine what my repair bill is going to be for something that chrysler should fix. *tr

My 2006 chrysler 300c was a car that was well taken care of. it had less than 90,000 miles at the date of the incident. i was in a drive-thru and i turned off the car to save fuel. when i went to restart the vehicle, the car made a loud grinding noise that sound similar to sticking a baseball card in bicycle spokes but much louder and stronger. i had the car towed to chuck clancy chrysler and i was informed that a valve seat had dropped and destroyed several cylinders. the bill was $3,000. this car was always maintained by maintenance records and the oil changed with pennzoil platinum ultra. to add to this story, i received the car back and the same issue happened again two weeks later. needless to say, i was out another $4000 for this repair. chrysler refused to cover it and gave me the cold shoulder. i would never purchase a chrysler product again. *tr

Unable to shift out of park. dealer replaced entire shifter assembly because small pink plastic shift interlock latch was broken. part: $167.50, labor: $198.00, total: $365.45 service manager said the shift interlock latch isn't sold separately! it is well established that this is a faulty engineering design. there are multiple internet postings of the problem. many have done diy repairs with a metal replacement part. i feel this should have been a recall or in the very least covered as a manufacturing defect whenever the part breaks. to top it off...the replacement is also plastic! *js

On 3/6/12 i park my car in front of my house, at 4:20 pm. next morning i got in my car started it up but the gear shift would not move out of park. after two days of research and going on line it has been reported to chrysler group llc for many years that the pinky thing ( shift interlock latch ) plastic spring hook brakes off the latch and the gear select shift is stuck in park. this is a safty issue because a person (man/lady/teen or grand parent, could park any where (day/night) and be stranded (on the highway/rest stop area/parking lot, just about any where. *tr

On christmas day, went to visit relatives in another state, parked car in a public parking lot, returned late at night to go home, car would not shift into gear. had to have car towed back to my state to mechanic, found out something the size of a "false finger nail" broke off inside. a small piece that looked like a woman's false nail painted pink costs me close to $1,000.00 between towing, buying the entire part since you cannot replace the pink "false nail", labor, transportation etc. why would chrysler make a car that they advertise as luxury and use a plastic piece as a component in it? the chrysler 300c, looks good from far, but it is far from good! *js

My 2006 chrysler 300c gear wouldn't shift out of park. car starts fine, steering wheel unlocked but gears won't shift out of park. contacted tow truck, once arrived removed the cover of the gear panel and pushed in the little pink tab that apparently overrides the "park lock out mechanism" this a known issue with several chrysler vehicles. why hasn't chrysler issued a recall. googled the issue while waiting for the tow truck and you wouldn't believe the number of complaints about the same issue with other chrysler vehicles and with mine. chrysler needs to step-up and take responsibility for this defect. cost me $360 to get my car fixed, more like replaced the entire shifter assembly even though they could of purchased an after market metal part to fix their defective pink plastic part. i'll see how long this one lasts and of course it wasn't covered under the warranty. *kb

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300 c. the contact stated the vehicle failed to drive in the reverse position. the contact was not able to reverse from a residential driveway drive way. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer, but the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages were 64,110.

My 2006 chrysler 300c would not shift out of the park position. i drove it to work that morning with no problems and parked in the parking lot, when i came out to leave after work, it started fine, and as i started to back out of my parking space, the gear shift would not move. i tried moving the steering wheel, shutting the car off and on, and had someone to rock the vehicle with no response. i called a friend and he came over to help me, and could not get it to move either. we went back to his shop and googled it and found that it is a common problem with 300's, avengers, and one other model i cant remember. all you have to type in is chrysler 300 stuck in park, and you get alot of replies. he read how they had taken the console apart and moved a release lever. we tried that and it didn't work. we then had to use a screwdriver and move a pink thingy to get it to release. i am able to drive the car, but i cannot use p (park) because it locks again. i am using neutral and my emergency brake to keep the car from rolling away. i talked with chrysler and they said some models had been recalled but not unless they had already been replaced before. mine is the shifter from the factory and is not included in the previous recall. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated the gear shift unit had to be replaced because it was stuck in park. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated the entire gear shift unit had to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the current mileage was 65,682. updated 9/16/11 *cn updated 11/02/11

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that shifter would not shift from park. the contact had the vehicle towed to a dealer where the dealer stated that the shifter assembly was faulty. the vehicle was repaired by replacing the shifter assembly. the contact was concerned that the manufacturer would not take responsibility for the failure, which the contact deemed as an ongoing issue with the particular year, make and model. the failure mileage was 75,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated after shifting the vehicle into park, the vehicle would not shift out of park. the contact stated a spring attached to the shifter broke causing it to lock. the contact notice a nhtsa campaign i.d. number 05v460000 (power train:automatic transmission) and called the manufacturer. the manufacturer informed the contact the vehicle was not involved in a recall. the contact stated the vehicle could not be driven due to the faulty shifter. the failure mileage was 120,000.

Car shift lever was stuck in park. called chrysler dealer and was told no longer under warranty. had to have car towed to chrysler dealer where shifter assembly was replaced. found customer satisfaction notification k39 on internet. called chrysler group recall assistance center and was told that recall did not apply to my specific vin number even though my car meets the listed specifications.

Most of the time, the engine will stall at a stop with all gauges dropping to zero. this also happens when the car is moving down the roadway. engine does not start smoothly. most times it takes at least two attempts to start it. sometimes upon restart the gauges remain at zero. upon start, engine will run for a brief time and will run maybe 1 block or so before stalling again. it will run without incident until the next episode. there may be a spread of 3 to 4 weeks between incidents. sometimes the engine speed jumps up without accelerator input making the car leap forward. this has happened once to me. sometimes when the engine is restarted and put into gear, the transmission does not engage immediately, but after a very brief delay causing a "jump" into gear when it does engage. the esp bas light comes on a majority of the time this happens. sometimes the gauges all drop to zero while the car is running. almost always, i can feel in the running of the engine that something is not quite (almost imperceptive missing) right before this happens. i took the car to a chrysler dealership immediately after this happened and asked them to read the codes. they told me many codes had been recorded. *tr

I purchased this 2006 chrysler 300c in december 2010. i got a carfax report and there wasn't any problems reported on it. well june 2011 the shift gears got stuck in park and i couldn't shift it down. so my husband sprayed some wd40 on the shift gears and shook the shifter and push the pink thingy thing in and it then it shifted down into drive. then in september 2011 the shift gears got stuck again and this time the shifter wouldn't shift into park. i was frustrated so i look on the internet about the shift gears on these cars and it was over 100 complaints about the shift gears gettin stuck. so i called chrysler and inform them about this matter. they did have it fix by a chrysler dealership but i hope that i don't have this problem again. if i had known that chrysler 300 had a shift gear mechanism defect i wouldn't of never bought this car... *tr

Transmission shifter interlock lever is faulty. a broken interlock return spring hook will result in the inability to move the gear shift lever out of the ?park? position. chrysler issued letter to some customers. here the link to the letter : http://www.chrysler.com/webselfservice/pdf/k39.pdf problem is they issued a recommend free repairs to some owners that might have a problem for there 2006 300c car but why cant they offer free repairs to everyone with same model cars and have the same problem. also when you go to the dealership to buy the part to repair, you are put on a waiting list because the parts not in stock because of all the people that need to get there cars work on. my car was not able to shift and was stuck in park 2 hours waiting for a tow truck that can tow my car home. the dealership employee are aware of the problem, also the fact that some people are covered for repairs and other people with the same model with damages are not covered just doesn't make any sense. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact started the vehicle and the gear failed to shift from park. the contact notified an authorized dealer and they recommended that the vehicle be diagnosed to determine the cause of the failure. the vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 74,000.

In january 2011 i noticed transmission oil stain where car is parked. took vehicle to pep boys on january 11th, 2011 who confirmed that vehicle did have transmission leak. since pep boys do not service transmission, took to local transmission garage to get problem corrected. again on april 18th of this year had same problem with oil leak and again we had to pay to get problem resolved. twice repaired for same problem. *tr

No event leads up to this event. the shifter for automatic transmissions has a plastic part in 2005-2007 (and maybe more) that is poorly made and breaks. i have seen hundreds of complaints on the web. this happened to my 2006 chrysler 300. chrysler's solution is to replace the entire shift mechanism that includes the same poorly manufactured plastic part. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that the vehicle became stuck in the park shift. the vehicle was towed an authorized dealer where the shifter housing was replaced. the contact called the manufacturer who reduced the repair costs. the current and failure mileages were approximately 54,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c. the contact stated that the vehicle would not shift out of park. the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop and the contact was informed that the shift housing needed to be replaced. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 05v460000 (power train:automatic transmission). the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 58,808.

I stopped to get gas and when i completed the transaction i started the car and it would not shift out of park. the tow truck driver said he picks up 3 a week with the same exact issue. the cost of the tow and the repair was about 500 dollars. i just looked on line and seems a lot of people are having this same issue. seems to me that chrysler should make it out of metal and fix a 40k cars. *tr

300 c chrysler gear shift is stuck in park.... chrysler dealership will not do anything to help problems. i have had nothing but problems since i own a chrysler... *tr

My 2006 chrysler 300 stuck in park in a shopping center parking lot. waited 2 hrs for a tow truck in the hot az heat. truck driver said this is a common problem for chrysler and what he gets the most calls for. dealership also stated it is a common problem. i was the 3rd car that day coming into the dealership with the same problem. cashier stated it happens everyday and chrysler should recall. it is a plastic piece that breaks on the gearshift. it was expensive to repair. they lead me to believe it could happen again. chrysler should recall the cars and fix with a durable part at their expense. it makes me nervous to know it could happen again since i drive back and forth to san diego and don't want this to happen in the middle of the desert. *tr

The shifter or gears on my chrysler 300 touring will not come out of park. this is an ongoing issue on these vehicles. the dealer will require me to pay out of pocket for an issue that should be resolved through a recall. *tr

My 300c seemed to stick sometimes, but with a nice pull it would engage, until yesterday. i'm glad i was home, my gears stuck in park and i have no idea what to do now. i hope there is a recall on this part. *tr

2006 chrysler 300 srt8. transmission locks in park. there have been several forums regarding this type of complaint. a part made of plastic commonly breaks costing a large repair bill. the part is not a regular maintenance item. i believe there is a recall on the 2005 model where they refer to it as a "pawl." it may also not allow the driver to put the vehicle in park, but i'm not having that problem. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chrysler 300c which was purchased in june 2007. during routine maintenance on the vehicle, the left outer tie rod was loose and the dealer made repairs accordingly. within the next 3,000 miles, during a routine maintenance check, the contact requested that the dealer inspect the left and right outer tie rod for general purposes. the dealer confirmed that the right tie rod was also defective. the tie rods were inspected a second time and the dealer found the left tie rod was loose. the tie rods were replaced a third time. there were no related recalls. the failure mileage was 24,890. the current mileage was 34,000. updated 03/04/10 *bf transmission fluid was leaking. the dealer replaced the plug adapter. updated 07/08/10.*jb

(11-9-2006) car stalled 4 times in a row. the stalling has continued up to yesterday (9-15-2013). the car would stall at a stop or at freeway speeds and at random times from a few days up to 3 or 4 months. the dealer never had a solution. i have replaced many electrical components recommended by the dealer including the pcm. before i changed the pcm, i would have to shift into neutral and turn the switch to restart the car. after i replaced the pcm the car will still stall, but then will "kick start" itself if i am going over 25 mph. sometimes the car will stall 2 or 3 times and then run great for a month or 2. it is always random. i have looked into renting a blackbox to install in my car to capture what the problem is, however the dealer says that a recorder for my car doesn't exist. i still drive this car with caution, my wife no longer drives this car which was hers.. *tr

After filling gas tank car would shut off while driving and i would lose control of car to stear. after sat all car would start and drive ok. danger is when car stalls on the road while driving. this happened several times, could not fill tank up.
