On december 2015, i bought the 2015 chrysler 200 limited from gilroy chrysler dealer. (malfunction #1) on sunday april 17, 2015, @ approximately 9:45 i drove my chrysler less than a mile from my home when i made a right turn & my car turned off and the steering wheel locked up. i started my vehicle and was able to drive it. I was about to turn right onto the street, when i felt loss of power. the car etc, mil, and etc indicator lights came on. transmission goes into stall mode, does not go over 30 mph, speeding up and slowing down and shaking excessively. i've only had this car for 10 months. now if this was to have occurred on a weekday i would have been on the freeway and this would have caused a major accident.

The car is burning oil. 35 qt in 6000 miles. that is all you smell as you drive or at idle. the car jerks back and forth as you drive not good form my 5 yr and 3 yr old necks when its jerking them back and forth. as we brake the car feels like it is giving gas to go. the car has died at stop signs in the middle of know where.

Car shuts off while driving and without warning. yesterday driving home during my commute, in one of the busiest highways in nyc the vehicle shut off. this was a harrowing experience because it was rush hour, i was at the time, passing a short bridge which offered no shoulder for me to pull over. confused and bewildered, i felt fearful someone my not see me and slam behind me. i quickly put my four ways and literally put my arm out the window frantically waving traffic around the disabled vehicle. as i tried to re-position the gear knob from driving to park, the light indicator would not move from the drive position although the knob did rotate to the park position. after 5 minutes or so, i attempted to start the car by pressing on the ignition button and like nothing ever happened it started up and i was able to drive home safely, although this type of event could had had a very different result.

Takata recall the car is powering off while driving causing car to stop. i see there is a recall for this but not on my vin number. this is very danderous because the car just stops
I were in little but really scared accident with my almost new chrysler. in very slow traffic (5-7 miles/hour) when i tried to come home after work meeting from kirkland suddenly i realized that my brakes don't wanna stop the car with light tapping as it was ok previously, then tapped on brake harder and then panic and realized the brake. i end up with hang on the tail (the little thing attached to the rear end of the car) of big track. i tried to say something about brakes problem to my insurance, but collision repair company did not confirm my concerns and i paid $1000 deductible as the driver in fault (in the future it will affect my monthly pay for insurance). i tried to find the solution but only my family can support me without laughing at my problem with the car safety. one of my friends told me, that i need to involve some of an independent professional and stop trying talk to the wall. chrysler already took an advantage of my not fair purchase and then my trade-in with them (my dealership refused to replace my previous chrysler 200 for safety reason again!!! and sold to me my current chrysler for $43,000 and it's not safe still!!!). in additional, i scared with the noise producing by the car while i'm driving: there are two types of noise from the engine when it's going down of the hill and windows or something like windows shaking noise. frankly saying, i have very upsetting experience with the dealership and start looking for the second opinion with treating me as the fair and professional business. please let me know what is in the options to keep my life safe since i have a strong feeling, that i'm not safe to drive my chrysler. thank you! *tr
In january 2015, i purchased a 2015 chrysler 200s from reedman toll auto world. i owned the vehicle for approximately 3 months and in march, 2015 during a snowstorm i was driving in the vehicle with my fiance and 5 year old son. i was traveling at approx 30mph in bensalem, pa. the vehicle locked up. the parking brake engaged, no power steering, no abs, no traction control, transmission stopped engaging. i hit the brakes and slide into an intersection. i had my fiance get into the drivers seat and i push the car off the roadway into a side street. at that time i walked my fiance and son home approximately 1 mile to our apartment. i then walked back to the disabled car. i waited for approximately 2 hours for a tow truck to arrive from chrysler roadside assistance. the vehicle was towed into reedman toll auto world. when the car was looked over it was deem to be fine and i was told to pick it up. i did not do that. i told them i didnt feel safe driving that vehicle any longer. so then i spoke with the general manager of reedman's and they told me they could get me into a different vehicle. i was poorly educated with my options back then and i wanted to just get a safe vehicle for my family. so i purchased a 2015 chrysler 200c. on january 23th, 2016 i was driving my 2015 chrysler 200c with my fiance. i was driving at approximately 20mph and the identical situation occurred again. it was 10 months after my last incident and with a totally different vehicle. this time i contacted chrysler directly. i still havent heard anything from chrysler. reedman's told me that there was some snow in there and they removed that and re flashed the computer system and now its "perfect". i find this to be really unacceptable and unsafe. more information including pictures and videos can be provided.
Driving on i-75 outside of detroit when engine suddenly caught on fire and burned engine compartment and front seating area. car has only 4,000 and has only driven in metro area since purchased a few months ago. our lives were endanger and saved with the help of other motorists until fire department arrived. freeway was closed and incident on tv that night. .
I was driving my brand new chrysler 200 that i bought 4 months prior and it was completely shutting off in the middle of the road... i lost control of steering until it shut completely off so i could restart it. very scary when you have your newborn baby and 10 year old in that back seat. not once did a check engine light come on or any sensor come on to tell me that my vehicle had no oil in it. so i believe the engine, electrical, and sensors are all messed on this vehicle. i do not feel like i should be stuck with it because in the back of my head i no longer feel safe in this vehicle. i am reaching out for help because chrysler won't and i have owned this care since august and it was in shop for 17 days in january, i have it back but i still don't think it's running correctly.
Car has long crank times. i have had it in the delership twice now for flash updates and on tuesday the 12th of january the car would not start the first time i hit the ignition button. i had a full tank of gas car is garage kept. i have reported this to dealership and other than the flash update chrysler claims there is no issue.
Engine blocked needed to be replaced at 14,000 miles. since engine was replaced the transmission is not shifting properly. 2 dealerships blamed the "adaptive transmission" for the issues. i have had the quick learn rolled back 3 times and car is still not shifting or stopping safely.
Takata recall: my car shuts off and will not power back up or allow to start sometimes when i stop. it also will not detect my key fobs while im trying to start it. also, it will jump very badly when going slow(street) or fast(freeway). the car also smelled like fire while i was driving one day. it also had an issue where it shut off while i was reversing. i took it to the dealership 4 times and made a complaint with corporate 2 times. they always seem to say they did not find anything wrong with my car. one of my case numbers with chrysler corporate is 29448239 and the other is 29301258. both were closed although i stated that the issue was not resolved.
Compatibility of engine and transmission (powertrain). while stationary at a red light or stop sign while the vehicle is in drive there is excessive vibration in the steering wheel. while still in a stationary mode you can move the selector knob to neutral and the vibration will go away. this test confirms that there is definitely a torque issue with the drive train. chrysler has incorporated all known software updates and replaced all motor and transmission mounts. problem still exists. chrysler response was this is a characteristic of the 200 and will not affect any components. excessive vibration indicates that there are components not in acceptable range of tolerance and will cause components to wear out prematurely. this problem that is associated with the powertrain could become a serious safety issue in that the loss of human life is possible should the powertrain lock up due to premature failure of internal components.
The power distribution center (pdc), shifter, parking break, transmission wire, power train, and engine stopped working on 12/05/15. the care completely shut down. i had it towed to a local dealer on 12/7/15. the worked on it all week through 12/10/15. the called me and told me everything was fixed. i came to pick it up, and i drove it back to work, to the store, then back home where it was parked over night. i wake up this morning to go to work and drop my girls off at school and the same thing happens. the car will not start, the brake is tight, the system is not detecting my key fob, and the care jerks a little bit and then dies. the dash will come on but the care will not shift out of park. i have it towed back to the dealership and they tell me "it worked last yesterday once we finished repairs.' i'm frustrated and made because i only received notification that 2 weeks ago that my car was up for a recall. then the dealer's service department tell me it's under 2-3 recalls. my insurance will provide a rental car. however, since this is mechanical and not due to an accident i can't get a rental. i call the dealer to request a loaner car, and they tell me that chrysler only provides them with five loaner cars, and they are currently being used for higher priority customers who major engine or transmission problems. if i read this one recall correct, one of the issues can cause me to hurt myself or others in a bad accident it this issue is not correct. to top it off they won't even provide me with a loaner car until they fix a problem that was caused in the manufacturing process. chrysler tells me that they don't usually replace cars, as they probably will only make repairs to fix the problem. the dealer here tells me that the recalls were made in february 2015. why wasn't i notified until recently. i could have seriously injured myself and my family. very unhappy!
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving 35 mph, the vehicle began to stall. when the accelerator pedal was depressed to the floorboard, the vehicle failed to accelerate. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to shottenkirk chrysler dodge jeep ram of canton (located at 200 liberty blvd, canton, ga 30114, (678) 493-1000), but the failure could not be duplicated. the manufacturer was not notified. the failure mileage was 15. the vin was not available.
I was driving home and my transmission and power steering went out on me and caused me to hit a median and i almost got into a serious accident. chrysler hasn't been professional at all in regards to this recall and i'm disturbed. i could have really been hurt and i'm not ok with the fact i have to come out of pocket for something that isn't my fault and could have potentially died. the car was in motion and i was turning in a busy intersection .
Car will stall out with no warning at any speed or maneuver, disabling power steering. i drive in austin, texas traffic and it is extremely dangerous if stall occurs on their many, many expressways and overpasses. this has happened on neighborhood streets, downtown streets and on ih 35.
This vehicle has experienced transmission problems since month two, taken in multiple times to be told a variety of reasons why the car isn't working. car stopped twice in the middle of the road, wouldn't start or move (with my children in the car both times). currently car will speed up when you take your foot off the gas, also car transmission thuds into gear feeling like the car is literally going to fall apart. been told that everyone is aware of the problem, no one has a solution. in the mean time the car is clearly unstable, unsafe.
Takata recall- my vehicle was in park and rolled back almost hitting my child i reported it to dealer. next my vehicle have been stalling and now the engine light is on and i notified the dealer. i reported that my air conditioning signal acts up. transmission slips sometimes. i reported this as well
Bought car is october of 2014. october of 2015, car started having problems. first day it started. car had trouble turning over. it cranked, and cranked, and finally was able to turn over. drove it to work that day and felt shakes and vibrations at idle. next day, same thing. car hesitates and shakes and check engine light appeared. towed to dealer where they stated the issue was the recalls and updates to the tcm and pcm. i stated there was something more serious, and they insisted it was just the recalls (power distribution center). got a call the next day to pick car up. took off with it, and at next stop light, car stalled. lights flickered and car felt very rough. was able to turn back on car. at this time, the a/c stopped working. the defrost was the only thing working no matter what was turned on or off on the dash. tried to turn ac and defrost on and off and the defrost stayed on the whole time. made it back to dealer, and told them the issues. while i stood there, the adviser felt the shake when he touched the door, and said there was definitely something wrong and got me a loaner car. still waiting to hear back.

My transmission keeps slipping and it's becoming hazardous to drive on the road. would not recommend purchasing this vehicle!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. the contact stated while driving at approximately 55 mph, the vehicle made a continuous jerking motion. the contact also stated while driving at approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled. the vehicle was able to restart on the first attempt. the failure recurred multiple times intermittently. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. the engine was replaced, but the failure recurred. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 5. updated 03/28/17 lj the consumer stated the dealer could not duplicate the failure. *js
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle independently slowed down and stalled as the "put into park" warning indicator illuminated. it took several attempts to start the vehicle; however, the failure recurred after driving approximately 50 feet. the failure recurred on several occasions while driving the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 24,000.
Vehicle under recall without any solution or parts available for the repair. owners are to continue driving until a solution is available. car will stall or shift into neutral while driving at both high and low speeds. car has stalled on the highway without warning, shifting into neutral while in drive. car engine revved up, but would not accelerates i i could get off the road safely avoiding traffic. warning lights flash on the dashboard instructing me to service transmission, stop safely, turn off car, place into park. doing all of this left the car stuck in either "run" or "accessory" mode. car would not shut down, even when key fob was away from car. gear shift was stuck and would not shift into any gear. all lights were lit up on the gear shift. at the same time the car clock time froze and a warning came on the screen saying to service vehicle phone. car had to be towed to dealer twice and has been in the shop for the same problem 4 times within 25 days, and is currently in the shop now. manual park release had to be used in order to tow vehicle as the gear shift wouldn't shift into neutral or any other gear. car is extremely unsafe to drive for owners and fellow drivers on the road as an immediate decrease in speed and loss of control could potentially cause accidents.
My engine turned off while driving. i was on a one lane ramp, going about 25 or 30 miles per hour around a bend. the transmission was in drive, not park or neutral. i could not restart my engine. additional safety features such as forward collision warning, lane sense, and park sense were disabled. i was blocking traffic - the only way to get around me was to go up onto the sidewalk, which is not safe. people behind me tried to help by pushing the car, but could not. i had to call the police to send incident response to push me out of the way. the incident response truck also could not push me out of the way, but after rocking my car several times in an attempt to push the car, the engine would start. the check engine light came on and the screen showed a message saying to service transmisison. i drove to a parking lot and called a tow truck to take me to a dealership. i have found many cases of this happening to other 2015 chrysler 200 owners, and i think there needs to be an investigation and possibly a recall. the dealership cannot tell me what caused the issue, only that their service manual says reflashing the transmission control module should solve the problem. chrysler coporate also cannot tell me what caused the issue. several testimonies online say that their car was not fixed by reflashing the tcm. having your new car die on the road while driving with absolutely no warning is an unacceptable, possibly fatal risk. i only hope if this happens again, i won't be in an intersection or in front of a semi-truck on the highway.
There are times when i will be stopped at a stop sign waiting for traffic until i am clear to enter into the roadway. upon a space opening for me to enter into traffic there have been times when i have pressed down on the gas pedal to go and there is a delayed reaction from the vehicle. the vehicle will not go and you can audibly hear the engine wind up. after a brief while i can feel the vehicle downshift as if it was either in neutral or stuck on a gear. then the vehicle will launch you out into traffic. i've had close calls to where due to the delay i've almost had to slam on the brakes to prevent myself from going into traffic as the delay put me at risk. when it launched me into traffic i then had to push the gas pedal all the way to the floor in order to avoid being hit by other vehicles and speed away. there are other times of getting onto the highway where it feels like the engine or transmission is lagging behind the accelerator. you can feel the vehicle almost sputter sporadically when driving the vehicle.
Car was running beautifully on september 22nd. it was parked in the garage overnight. when i started it the morning of the 23rd, the check engine light flashed and the car was idling very roughly. i drove slowly to the dealer, doug smith chrysler in american fork, ut. they diagnosed the problem as being a cart and horse concern: apparently the coil on the #6 cylinder had failed and also the coil driver in the pcm had also failed. they don't know which occurred first and then likely caused the other problem. my concern is that the car was nearly undriveable as it was; what if the pcm had suffered a cascading damage of some sort? especially, what if this had happened while i was traveling 70mph on the freeway? i just think that a component of such importance as the pcm should not fail after only 11000 miles. i now have concerns about the replacement: will it be brand new or rebuilt? if rebuilt, how reliable will that end up being? i also feel that a spark plug coil should be more robust than to fail at only 11000 miles. i believe this failure could represent a severe danger to myself and possibly to others if it happened while the car was being driven.
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly shut off, occasionally not accelerate, and lose power. when making a right turn, a beeping sound was present and the oil gauge indicator would increase. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the cause of the failure. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 25.
I was on my way home from work when at a red light my check engine light goes on, transmission and park break service lights go on and as the light turned green my car did not accelerate. i put my car on park turned my emergency lights and then shifted to drive . my car then kept changing shifts. as an attempt to get my car home which is only 7 min from work i drove it slowly and every stop i made my car would take at least 2-3 minutes to accelerate. as i arrived home the steering wheel got hard and displayed a warning to put emergency break to prevent from rolling.it then displayed service transmission, service park break, service engine. the next day i took my car to the dealership but was told nothing about a recall for my car.
Before reaching 1000 miles, i knew that there were terrible problems with the engine: jerking, hesitating and stalling. these engine/transmission problems make my car unsafe to drive as we have experienced several close encounters with accidents as a result of these defective problems!!. i have complained to our dealership where i purchased my car. but for some reason they couldn't get me in to check on my vehicle because of so many of the same issues i was told & also stated that it wasn't their fault to check with chrysler corp?? since then was almost killed twice (my whole family)!! merging onto i-20 in georgia, going about 50 while merging when there was a tractor trailer moving up quickly in my rear view mirror i hit the gas but nothing happened!!! i started yelling oh my god my kids screamed daddy my wife screaming then, the car shuts off so now im without power, the truck started laying on his horn then there was blue smoke from the tires of the truck!! "twice" this has happened!!! other incidents, while pulling up to a stop sign or stop light while slowing to stop it would jerk then speed up sometimes throwing me into on coming traffic!! something has to happen!! this car is a death trap!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2015 chrysler 200. the contact stated that the air bag warning indicator kept illuminating, which was a safety concern. the contact stated that the wiring harness was replaced after the failure occurred more than four times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer (jim browne chrysler jeep dodge ram tampa bay, 10909 n florida ave, tampa, fl 33612, (813) 452-5499) several times, but a permanent solution was not provided. in addition, the vehicle kept stalling. the vehicle was taken back to the same dealer for over two months for diagnostic testing. the dealer indicated that they replaced the engine assembly, but the contact was uncertain if the failures would recur. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the failure mileage was not available.
Transmission failure it was replaced once and went again so less than 20k miles and it went through 2 transmissions. i feel very unsafe and refuse to drive the car after the last incident. a/c froze up had to replace carpet in vehicle 2x i have had a rental car for the last 2 months while it was being repaired. transmission failed going up hill 70 mph in pa with semi-truck behind me who almost rear ended me the vehicle shut off and i lost all power including power steering. i slowed down at 15 mph the car went into park and the e-brake went on and jerked us all over the car.
2015 chrysler 200. consumer writes in regards to unexplained sudden acceleration when coasting or trying to slow down. *smd the consumer stated the first problem he encountered with the vehicle, was a squeaking brake system. after two visits to the shop, the resolved the problem. then it took three to four trips to resolve a problem with the trunk latch that would not release the trunk lid. then it tool a couple of other trips to resolve a problem with a yellow engine earning light that came on for no apparent reason. *jb
My car jerks and/or hesitates while driving. from a complete stop position my car has sputtered without going any place. i would have to turn off my vehicle in the middle of the road and turn it back on so i can get it to go. i have a rattling sound coming from the engine compartment and you can hear it clearly coming from the passenger side with the windows down. a brand new car and it has a lot of tranny issues. the 9 speed automatic is the worst design with major flaws. chrysler doesn't do anything unless it throws a code. 15 times in the repair shop and it is still there with the same issue that no tech can figure out. please someone do something about this. the buyback program they offer is a sham don't believe them.
I was stopped at stop sign when i took foot off brake pedal to accelerate it couldn't get traction with back tiers it felt like the back right tire locked up and it jerked back and forth until i took foot off accelerator. i stopped but couldn't see anything wrong. this happened on 8-28-15. on 8-29-15 was in a drive thru and when car is in park and i put in drive it makes a clicking sound from engine and car jerks somewhat with my foot on the brake. i have noticed that when i accelerate it hesitates to go. i am very concerned about this problem because i am almost scared to drive it because of the hesitation to go, and could cause a wreck if the tire thing happens again.
I financed the chrysler 200 2015, used on 7/13/15. around august 28th, 2015 i was driving and my car stalled while in motion in a busy intersection. a message appeared on dashboard: "engine warming wait to start", the knob and break locked i could not move the vehicle. the message on the dashboard then changed to: "shift to p." after pressing the push to start button on and off i got the car moving and decided to head to the dealer cautiously, on the way to the dealer it happened another 3 times and i was able to get it to move again and get it in the dealership. they had it in for a few days and told me they fixed the problem. an hour into driving after i left the dealership the car stalled again this time it was dark out and i was on a highway (luckily right lane) the car would not turn back on this time it was completely locked. i exited the vehicle and sat on the side of the highway waiting for a tow truck. (police were called too). this problem was blamed on the r24 recall, a month later i got the car back with the part that had to be replaced and everything seemed fine. the car stalled again on 4/20/2016, same message on dashboard this time it was while moving and making a turn and i almost got hit head on by another vehicle. they took the car in again, said nothing was wrong this time, happened again in june,2016 they said again nothing was wrong. it happened again, the end of sept,2016 and i got a recall notice for the s55 recall which can cause stalling. they kept the car in dealership said they had to wait for part from chrysler. they told me it was fixed and on 11/6/2016 i picked up the car and it stalled about 100ft away from the dealership. they took it back in, and now they said again that it is fixed and for me to pick it up. i am terrified, it is an unsafe, unpredictable vehicle. please investigate chrysler for the sake of safety. help me.
Vehicle has stalled and loses all power and you are unable to put the car in park. it stays in drive. the car will not re-start and is stuck in drive. you are unable to move the shifter to put it in park. this has happened twice. once before it went in for service and then again the day after it was picked up from being repaired. service department indicated they did an r08 recall. this is very dangerous and i am afraid that someone is going to be injured or killed with this car. currently vehicle is in the shop again. dealership thinks it may be another recall r24 that came out three days ago but parts are not available and they do not know when it will be fixed. i now have no vehicle at all and do not know for how long!
