As i entered onto the freeway, my car turned off. lights began to blink repeatedly. i lost total control of steering. i could not pull over or stop immediately. all this while still in drive. i was able to put the car in park. i attempted to atart the engine, it took several seconds but started. i was terrified.
As i am driving the parkway going about 60 mph my car with out any warning started with flashing red on the dashboard. the temperature gauge started going from hot to cold and the engine symbol flashed on dash board. i was in the left hand lane with a significant amount of traffic passing me. within 2-3 minutes as i started to go down hill the dash flashed steering will be disabled, then autobrading with be disabled. the radio at this point shut off and it was difficult to steer the car. there was little acceleration when i tried to give it gas to keep with the pace of the other vehicles attempting to move to the side of the road. i put my hazardous flashers on but because i did not have a dash board screen i was sure they were working everything electrical seemed to be off. i finally made it to the side of the road and the car went about 3 feet and stopped. i was not able to put the car in park once i got to the side of the road. it was difficult for the tow company to pull the vehicle because the wheels were locked and they had to use special equipment.
Driving 60 mph on highway, car shuts down completely. not first time and happens every couple of months. dealership acts as if they don't know how to fix problem. i am a single mother with 2 young children riding in this car. does one of us have to risk dying or serious injury for chrysler to acknowledge or fixed this problem.
Car started making an awful clanking noise when turning. had three (3) different places look at it and they all said it was the transmission. took it to spitzer chrysler in brook park, oh who said it was everything but the transmission. they wanted to charge me more than the car is worth. had it towed to a different chrysler dealer as it's undrivable and leaked all it's transmission fluid out.
While driving down the street, the car stalled. this has happened 3 times within the last 5 days. it is unknown as to why this is happening, but the car stalling while driving in the flow of traffic, is a safety risk. during this time, the car would not shift into neutral, and after pressing the start button again, the car starter was continually trying to turn over and start, but didn't. after getting assistance, the car was finally pushed out of the middle of the street from it's stalled position. after getting pushed to a parked position, it finally started, but i didn't want to take the chance of it stalling again, since this has happened three times now.
2015 chrysler 200s transmission failures. numerous times the gear would slip from drive to neutral while at stoplights. the dashboard would instruct me to shift into park the choose desired gear. that's if i'm lucky and the shift knob doesn't lock, preventing me from shifting into park or any other. numerous times it has disengaged from drive to neutral while driving on the highway at speeds ranging from 55 mph to 70 mph. having find a way to the shoulder with no power while activating the hazard lights has proven quite disturbing to maneuver through traffic. several times it has slipped out of drive while going through intersections leaving me disabled in the middle of busy roads at the mercy of oncoming traffic, hoping they brake in time. it has nearly been the cause of several wrecks having loss of power, steering wheel becomes hard to turn and i've nowhere to turn off of road for lack of shoulder or curbs creating obstacles. regardless of where it occurs , if the shift knob is locked, the car is not budging. it is locked in the transmission preventing any way of pushing it. i can't drive my son anywhere for fear it could result in something i'd rather not think of.
While driving my 200 i lost control of my steering. the check engine light the steering warning light as well as my traction light. i could not turn my wheel at all.

Takata recall i have had my chrysler 2015 200 for 3 years and since i've had my car it has always had an issue with accelerating on its on. it accelerates when you tap the breaks and it will accelerate on its on taking it off cruise control as well. so last week my car was being driven on the highway and the car was put on cruise control going about 60-65 mph then once the brake was tapped to slow down the car began to lock up and accelerate up to 90 mph. then after the car picked up speed the whole car locked up steering wheel would not turn or anything and the car ended up hitting a wall. the state of what cause the issue is unknown, however i think this issue should be taken further for an investigation.

Takata recall; while driving through heavy traffic on a sunday afternoon a warning light appears on the dash screen: power steering unavailable, need service soon. suddenly the steering wheel lock up and wouldn't turn. i cruise the car to the traffic light waiting for it to turn red in order to turn the ignition off. when the traffic light turn green i turn the ignition back on but suddenly the warning light came back on and again i wasn't able to steer the car over to the next lane it froze up. traffic was heavy and a large truck was driving behind me blowing his horn for me to speed up or get out of the way but i could not steer the car over. i put on the emergency lights and try hard to steer the car until i reach another traffic light to turn off the ignition. when reaching the red light i turn off the ignition and turn it back on at the green light. the warning light went off again and the steering wheel turned a little better for me to cruise the car in the right hand lane to the nearest shop. i was about 15 miles from home and able to steer the car in a straight lane to drive slow with my amber lights bleeping. then i notice a firestone was open, the steering wheel was lock up again so i jerk it as hard as i can to steer it into the parking lot. this was a dangerous situation and thanks god for his protection because this could have cause a lot of people lives. firestone examine my vehicle and explain what they felt the problem was; electrical, and i had to leave the vehicle to diagnose the problem. the following day they explain to me that it could be my battery so they replace the battery still no success. call the following day and asked if they believe they could repair the car and the manager was honest and said no because it's a safety issue, the parts that is needed is out of stock and the car have to be taken to a dealership. possible a recall.

Vehicle is a safety hazard. on 7/28/2017 i almost at a fatal accident and almost ran off of the road due to impair vision. 1 of my complaints to dealership and chrysler was that my front windshield defroster is not working. i have expressed my concern and fear to both parties. also, i have other on going issues with the transmission, stalling, hesitating, pulling side to side, consuming gas, jerking, making a clucking noise, hvac issues, drive shaft and shifting gears.

Recall on electrical surge issue performed on 4/6/2017; since then my air bag icon and bell goes off and on and power steering icon pops on dash. on 4/18/2017, went to make a left turn and power steering icon came on and dash read "power steering not inactive". pulled the car over shut it down and restarted icon was gone car drove fine.

This problem has happend twice. i was turning on to a road and the car loss all power steering. the display showed service immediately and a engine light. i turned it off and restarted and it worked again no indicators. called chrysler local service they said they haven't heard of it, and it was probably a glitch. then a week later while going 70 mph on interstate 35 with my son in the car i loss power steering again. same thing tho when i turned it off and turned it on this time the indicators stayed on. had to have it towed to the dealership. when the tow truck driver drove it of the truck the power steering was working the indicator light was still on. this defect is going to kill someone.
This morning when i was driving with my 2 year old daughter, my car had major failures. while driving on a highway (us-46), the anti-lock brakes failed first, then went the power steering next. luckily i was able to pull off the road in time before getting crushed by a tractor trailer. funny thing is, i knew this was coming. i called my local dealership on wednesday to tell them i suspected my car was going to have the same issues others have had. my car started shaking quite a bit when i was drinking on tuesday 2/21/17. when you research this for this model, you'll find all sorts of scary stories, like mine today. when i called the dealer's service department i was totally blown off, treated like a moron, and told they could see me on march 7. helpful, right? so i made an appointment at another dealership for tomorrow morning 2/25/17. alas, i didn't make it. this is a very serious issue. had i been driving on an interstate, this could have resulted in a major accident. i just hope someone reads this and understands 1. this is not the first person it happened to and 2. this issue is going to kill someone. i escaped with my life today. others may not.
First, there is the hvac/windshield defrost. my concern with that condition is that my vehicle is my main source of travel and to have the hvac to work properly in the summer is vital as well, as having a clear windshield. a breakdown at night, an accident, hitting a pole hole, something or someone would be far worse than a mere inconvenience. incidentally, my intended use of the vehicle was made quite clear to the sales staff when i bought it. second, and the matter of far greater concern to me is the transmission. car making clucking noise, vibrating, jerking while shifting gears and launching while driving as if someone hit me from the back. third, vehicle is only 2 years old and has had to have the drive shaft replaced. which in return i've been without vehicle for more then 14 days and occur extra expenses of car rentals, tires and wheel alignment due to irregular wear. fourth, hesitation on attempt to accelerate. i was informed that issue would be resolved with replacement of drive shaft. defective drive shaft was the reason for delay and jerking. fifth, excessive gas burning. i was informed that exist because of drive shaft. once drive shaft was replaced it didn't resolve issue. i was giving a formula to calculate gas mileage, which was given to dealer. car averaging 16mpg. per car sticker fuel economy: highway 29/ city 18. car is driven mostly on highway without a lot of stop and go traffic.
(takata recall) my air bag light is on and wont go off they said i had a recall on the airbags, my main concern is the transmission my car has been in the shop at least 20 times for this same thing chrysler said they dont have a fix for the problem the car is dangerous and they all need to come off the roads. there has even been some deaths due to this recall. chrysler should be held responsable for this issue but all they are doing is just replacing the part with the same part that is recalled... please do something about this before more people get killed for this car stalling out and shuting off.chrysler needs to buyback all of these cars because of the sfaety issue with these cars. and put everyone in another vechicle ..hoe can you help us with this issue. there is over 45 complaints on complaints.com please read over these and help us with this issue before more people are killed. my car is still doing this today so from 11-27-2016 to 3-16-2018 and has not stopped or been corrected at all
Tl* the contact owned a 2015 chrysler 200. while driving 45 mph, the steering wheel seized. as a result, the vehicle crashed into a pole and was split in half. the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the air bags deployed. a police report was filed. the contact sustained injuries that required medical attention, such as a broken nose, cuts to the face and hands, a sprained neck, head trauma, and bruises to both legs and chest. the contact did not recall exactly what happened due to being unconscious. the vehicle was towed to a junk yard where it was deemed destroyed. the failure mileage was approximately 48,000. *tt updated 7/9/18*jb
My vehicle is now a year old and was purchased with 54 miles on the car. purchase complete in june, by september vehicle needed the motor replaced (so disappointing and such an inconvenience). the car has been stalling amid traffic which is extremely dangerous. the dealership supposedly fixed that issue and yet more stalling now than before. i have reached out to chrysler several times about this lemon and not much help has been given at all. as i type now the complaints with the car is that the car stalls displaying the battery light but starts back up. took the car to dealership to see exactly what the problem was and of course they stated the same thing (oh the battery must be replaced) at the expense of $390 which i refused those services. went to get battery tested from a second opinion and the battery life was fine and was not die to be replaced. now when the car stalls it displays the battery light, traction light, power steering unavailable and shuts off. well to top that problem and the 3 or fourth time of stalling depending on the distance, car shuts down completely for approximately 20 minutes displaying braking system notification when the car now does not shift into and gears. the air/heating system, radio, lights, etc still works but car can't go into park, drive, reverse, neutral, or low. i emailed chrysler along with pictures and of course i am yet to get a reply.
On december 2015, i bought the 2015 chrysler 200 limited from gilroy chrysler dealer. (malfunction #1) on sunday april 17, 2015, @ approximately 9:45 i drove my chrysler less than a mile from my home when i made a right turn & my car turned off and the steering wheel locked up. i started my vehicle and was able to drive it. (malfunction #2) the vehicle has also had problems making a clicking noise when going in reverse like metal on metal contact. (malfunction #3) when i put the vehicle in drive it is delayed and changes hard. on april 23, 2015 my vehicle was serviced for an oil change & tire rotation @ (stevens creek jeep dodge) 4100 stevens creek blvd, ca 95129 and the service advisor was advised. he advised they were booked up for 3 weeks in order to conduct a diagnostic check under the vehicle's warranty. the vehicle was serviced and it is scheduled for the first week of may. the dealer would not give a for a temporary vehicle until the vehicle is safe to drive. i am a single mother two children.
