I recently bought a 2006 chevy trailblazer from a local used car lot. two months after my fuel level gauge went out i searched to see if anyone was having the same problem and how to fix it i made many call to gm to see if there was a recall on this part because so many was having the same problem throughout america my mother ask to drive my car i have not fixed the problem i explain to my mother the problem with the car you can't tell how much gas is in your car anyway long story short she ran out of gas on the interstate and pull on the wrong side a car smash into her from the back this is why gm is asking for money and non american car makers is singing we need to make gm recall these half made cars could you please put a mandatory recall on the 2000's chevy trailblazers thank you in advance. *tr
Have a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer lt with 39,000 miles with a faulty fuel gage, it is fine until you fill the vehicle then it will show empty. *tr
The gas gauge on my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer will not work. without the fuel gauge, it is possible for me to run out of gas at an inappropriate time and cause an accident. nothing has been done to properly repair the vehicle since the cost is over $800.00 for a three year old car. *tr
Earlier this year on complaint #10225267, i reported that our 2006 trailblazer gas gage stop working and the engine light came on. our dealer said they fixed it. a few months later thee engine light came on again, took it back to the dealership, they said they couldn't find anything wrong and erased the error. this week in again the engine light came on and the blazer is at the dealership again. when is gm/chevrolet going to fix this problem. i know for every complaint on this site there are many silent trailblazer owners who are going through these some fuel gage and engine light problems. *tr
Fuel gauge indicator failure. 2006 trailblazer lt. was intermittent for around 2-3 weeks last winter then stopped all together. now i track fuel level by gal used on the on board computer. *tr
After completely filling up my gas tank i restarted the vehicle. the gas light came on, low fuel warning chimed and the gas gauge read empty. i immediately restarted and got the same indications. within a minute or so of driving the light went out and the gauge began to slowly rise. while driving the gauge would continue to slowly swing up and down, occasionally swinging low enough to trigger the low fuel warning (every 3-5minutes while moving). after about 1/4 tank of gas had been used the gauge seemed to stabilize and read accurately. the period of erratic behavior returned every time the tank was filled and appeared to be worsening (lasting longer with each cycle). on 12/09/2008 vehicle was serviced under warranty at a dealer and the fuel level sending unit was replaced. there have been no incidents since. *tr
The fuel sending unit of my 06 trailblazer ls has joined the 668+ that do not work. i have striped my car down to the frame. when i pulled out my gas pump... wow this thing is made to fail. the arm is so flimsy gas moving could pull the electrodes away from the circuit board. your investigation was launched months ago. what is taking so long? *tr
2006 trailblazer lt fuel gauge no longer worked at 38000 miles dealer would not comment if there were lots of issues but doing some research it appears that about 400 people have complained. *tr
Filled fuel tank approx. 1 month ago and fuel gauge started fluctuating. shows empty and light remains on 90% of the time. it has never worked properly since that time. went to chevrolet dealer where purchased and was told there is no service bulletin showing a problem. stated fuel tank sending unit probably bad. fuel tank has to be removed. price ranges for repair between $800.00 and $1100.00. have decided not to get fixed due to cost and research showing this is a very common problem chevrolet is having. temporarily correcting problem by filling fuel tank every 250 miles. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the check engine warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. in addition, the fuel gauge dropped to zero intermittently. the dealer stated that the electric fuel sending unit was defective. the contact was concerned with a shortage that could possibly cause a fire or safety hazard. the estimated repair costs would be between $600-$800. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 36,000 and current mileage was over 36,500. updated 02/18/09. *jb
Fuel sensor is out on my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. common problem. gas gauge always reads empty--even after i fill up. *tr
Purchased vehicle on 09-08, with roughly 45000, check engine light comes on and off, after several months of going back and forth at chevy dealer they determined it was a faulty cylinder head on the number four cylinder. filed bbc complaint and spoke with chevy who refused to do anything. couple months later and approx mileage 60000, the fuel gauge no longer works causing me to run out of gas a couple different times. about the same time, the stability control system dash lights would intermittently come on and off. i have not contacted chevy about the other two issues as i felt they would not do anything the same as the head problem. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. at 40,000 miles, the fuel gauge sensor stopped working. the fuel gauge needle does not move and indicates that fuel is present, when in reality, there is none. there is no recall relating to this failure. the dealer stated that this was a common failure with this type of vehicle. the failure caused her to run out of gasoline on the highway. the failure mileage was 44,000.
Fuel gauge suddenly became inaccurate. reads empty and chimes empty even when full. since it happens intermittently, it has caused me to run out of gas more than once in past three years. received blanket offer from manufacturer to cover half of the expense, so they know it is an issue, but should be a total recall for safety. *tr
2006 trailblazer, gas gauge light stays on no matter how much gas is in the tank. seems like an on going issue with chevy trailblazers between 30k - 60k miles, cost $600 - $800 to repair, should be something covered by chevy if there are so many complaints regarding this issue. i use the trip odometer, however, i have ran out of gas, which could have lead to varies dangerous/life threatening events. chevy should recall this, before they face a major lawsuit based off something going terribly wrong because of a defective product. *tr
I just want to get some information out there on my experience: battery replacement seem ways too often 8/2008, 10/2010, 9/2013 - and there is no notice until you cannot start it one day. first thing to go was the idle pulley. i have had the water pump/thermostat/belts replaced multiple times 50k, 60k, 87k. headlights and tail lights replaced at least 3 times each. i have had to clean the throttle block plate multiple times or the tb will stall when the brake is applied or heat/ac on. i have come to find out that there are many non-oem parts which i never replaced (i purchased used w/17k miles) and nothing showed up on car fax or other reports about accidents or repairs. i had the gas guage/tank/float repaired while it was under warranty still and then a year later it broke again, and i am still riding with it broken (at least the last 5 years), which of course keeps my check engine light on nearly all the time. i just located the notice that gm is now doing 100% of the repair and i will be making an appointment to get it fixed as i will not pass inspection and i never know how much gas i have. i fill every 200 miles. there are other minor issues such as interior lights going out, both of the front seats have detached from the side molding (only 1 little screw holds them in), the rear washer has not worked in about 6 years. i also have loud noises coming out of the tires/wheels and no one can determine an exact cause, but it's not the brakes or rotors or anything like that. i currently have under 89k miles. i am waiting for the door electrical system to go next as that seems like what is next on the list of tb issues. *tr
I just bought my used 2006 chevy trailblazer a few months ago, and almost immediately began having problems with my fuel gauge. everytime i would fill up, the gauge would malfunction and read empty. the low fuel light would come on and the chime would alert for low fuel. eventually, after driving several miles, the gauge would begin working correctly. however, the problem has gotten increasingly worse over the past few months. sometimes the gauge would not correct itself at all, and often the check engine light would also come on. more recently the fuel gauge rarely corrects itself and i have to constantly keep track of my mileage and "guess" when i need a fill up. upon researching this problem online, i've discovered that there are an alarmingly large number of gm owners who have experienced this same problem! supposedly, the repair requires a new fuel pump, sensor, etc. of course, since the tank has to be dropped, this means a high labor rate as well. most people report a cost of approx $800 to correct this problem! luckily, my vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty, but with the outrageous number of owners with this issue, gm should be required to step up and take responsibility! a recall definitely seems to be in order! *tr
I own a 2006 chevy trailblazer ls and the fuel gauge was working as advertised one day then the next day the gauge began to fluxuate, eventually to stop working all together. i have tried several fuel cleaners with no results. have done tons of research and have found hundreds if not thousands of complaints of the same issue on several gm vehicles. took the vehicle to the chevy dealership and was quoted at $750 to drop the fuel tank and replace the pump and sensor wiring all together with so many complaints of the same issue this is unacceptable, please fix gm. *tr
Have noticed in the news two accidents in which a gm suv series (trailblazer/ envoy/rainer) have caught fire after a front end impact. the five young women in new york state and then a story on cnn in which a woman was trapped and burned alive out west. both stories were last year. i ask if there have been any other complaints of engine fire after front end collisions with this series of suv because i drive one as my family car and would like to ensure it is safe. thank you for any information. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge remained below the full level even when the tank was full with fuel. additionally, the check engine light intermittently illuminated which started around the same time that the fuel gauge began to malfunction. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that they could not duplicate the failure. the vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the current mileage is approximately 80,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 25,000. updated 07/08/11*lj updated 07/18/11
I have a 2006 chevy trailblazer. at about 40,000 miles, my gas gauge began not resetting completely when filling up and began working sporadically. a couple of weeks later, it stopped working altogether. i have read many message boards online and it seems that there is an issue with the fuel sensors on the 2006 trailblazers and everyone describes a similar experience as mine. my vehicle is out of warranty now and i can not afford 800 dollars to fix it. i have to utilize my trip odometer to know when to fill up and simply have to guess about my gas mileage. to date, i have run out of gas once because of this faulty sensor, making me late to work. if this is a recurrent issue with 2006 trailblazers, a recall needs to be issued! *tr
After having my vehicle for one year, the fuel gauge suddenly became erratic. when fuel was near empty, it would read "full" or "half full". the engine repair light would go on and off inconsistently during the same time. i thought it might be the quality of gasoline, but trying different brands did not help. within a few months, no matter how much fuel was in my tank, the gauge would read "e" for empty, with the needle never moving from e. the yellow light and "dinging" sound ring a lot letting me know i am supposed to be out of fuel, but am not. this is the case even with a full tank of gas. it is a safety hazard because i have to reset my tripometer when filling up on a new tank of gas, so i know about 250 miles, i need to fill up again. if i don't do this, i could run out of gas, cause a crash, or a fatal accident since my gauge always reads empty. i have read many blog and complaints about the fuel gauge on the trailblazer and other chevrolet vehicles. mine is a 2006 with currently less than 24,000 miles on it, and at the time of occurrence, about 21,000.00 miles. i understand the repair and parts will be about $800.00. for such a young vehicle with low mileage, how can this be? there needs to me a recall with so many people having the same problem. *tr
I have seen the news when the 5 high school seniors in new york, may 2008 i believe, were killed and then just 3-4 weeks ago, oct 2008, the news reported a young mother was killed out west. both accidents involved a front end collision and both where mid-size gm suvs (chevrolet trailblazer, gmc envoy, buick rainer). both accidents resulted in fires and deaths. the news reported the fire was to intense to attempt a rescue in the new york case. in the case out west, the young mother's two children were rescued, but to the intense fire she was unable to be rescued. i would like to know if there have been any other complaints or comments on this or if it was ever reported to this agency. i have a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer as my main vehicle and would not want it to have some unknown defect that may cause my or any member of my family a loss of life. thank you for any information you can provide. *tr
2006 chevrolet trailblazer fuel level sensor hasn't worked since about 28,000 miles, now has about 80,000 miles on vehicle. thousands upon thousands of 2006 trailblazers have had the same problem which chevrolet (gm) knows about but won't put out a recall service bulletin to replace this defaulted part. here the taxpayers bailed gm out , but they won't take care of this huge problem where an operator of this vehicle could run out of fuel at any time not knowing how much fuel is in the tank because it reads empty all of the time with the low fuel light on as well. we as taxpayers can bail them out, but they won't take car of a problem that could result in deaths when a vehicle runs out of fuel at the wrong time, and in the wrong place. is this what is needed before gm takes care of this problem? this seems to be the case. also with this problem it sends signals that won't allow the vehicle to pass ny state vehicle inspection when there is nothing else wrong with the vehicle. *tr
Friday evening i filled our blazer up with unleaded gas and as i drove home i notice the gas gage marked empty and the low fuel light came on, i stopped to make sure the gas cap was on correctly and continued home. a mile down the road, a engine outline came on my instrument panel. parked the blazer until monday morning, when i drove it into town to our chevrolet dealership. as i drove into town the gas gage started on full and worked it way down to empty. now my blazer is at the dealership and i fine that others have had the some problem. so i sit and wait. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving 10 mph, the contact noticed smoke coming from the driver's side door panel. he pulled over and turned off the vehicle, which caused it to stop smoking. a mechanic stated that the control fuse box caught fire. the contact took his vehicle to the dealer, but they did not have the necessary parts for the repair. in addition, the contact was experiencing fuel gauge issues. when he filled up the vehicle with gasoline, the gauge indicated that it was empty. the failure mileage was 47,500. updated 07/28/09 *bf updated 07/30/09.*jb
2006 trailblazer, 26560 in mileage. after filling vehicle up with gas, low fuel light came on & it kept dinging!!!! the tank was full. dealer states that they need to drop the tank & keep the vehicle for at least a day to figure out what the problem is. i'm afraid how much this may cost. have viewed other complaints of this same problem with 2006 models. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge would drop to empty when it was at half a tank. the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the fuel module was enlarged and needed to be replaced. the failure and current mileages were 61,000. updated 03-05-08 *bf
Filled my vehicle up with gas and my gas gauge reads low fuel. poor equipment is the cause this happened on a new suv and they should fix them. the cost is over $500.00 dollars i understand that maintenance is my responsibility but a new truck should not have issues such as these. also sometimes the transmission goes in neutral when i'm in drive and i lose power. the tech's cant find what the problem is. also a code for the purge valve is on and the dealer cant find the problem. please help . *tr
Window doesn't roll down or stay up. gas gauge broke .. engine light and catalytic converter light stays on. handle design on door came off. engine went out due to a pistol loose. *tr
Fuel gauge sensor does not function. this causes the fuel tank to constantly read empty. i noticed this just as the warranty on my leased vehicle was about to expire due to mileage the fuel gauge stopped working. i have been forced to use the trip odometer on the vehicle to determine if i need fuel or not. when this first started occurring, it worked and then didn't work and i ran out of fuel on some busy roads and had to push my vehicle to a fuel station. when i took the vehicle to porter chevy to have it fixed they said it would cost me $950. i spoke to other chevy dealers and they said prices ranging from $800-$1500 to correct and had two mechanics tell me that the part is garbage and that it would just break again within a year not to waste my money. i filed a complaint on through the cpsc and found 50 others just like mine on there. not nhtsa was on cnn and i checked to see over 200 similar cases on this site some involving serious safety issues over the same problem i'm having. i have 3 small kids and need this corrected. not my fault that chevy is ripping off its customers with faulty parts. *tr
Same thing you have read before im sure. 2006 chevy trailblazer w/ the sending unit problem (gas guage not working).happened @ about 42000 miles just out of warranty.in 2007 the new warr. went to 100000mi.seeing many complaints here and everywhere re: this problem and got the "special coverage adj.#10054a after doing my own research. dealer knew nothing about it .also wants me to spend money to prove what has already been verified over and over and they are obviously taking some responsabilty @ a 50% ..what??? it's your default, you fix it. oh yeah not even a mention of what that 50% might be parts and labor. can someone answer even that??nothing was done to correct, consequences? how bout running out of gas on a major highway and getting ran over by a truck.total failure of gas guage. *tt
Fuel system: gasoline delivery, fuel pump the fuel tank level sensor is defective in my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. every time if fill the tank, the gauge would slowly approach the full line, then drop to empty, activating the low fuel indicator light and warning tone. i must estimate my fuel consumption using the trip meter. i have not replaced any oem fuel system components in the vehicle yet. *tr
Fuel gauge started registering as empty after i filled up. check engine light also came on. when gauge is empty it prompts a chime to go off. *tr
Fuel gauge does not read gas got fuel pump replaced and now it does not work again. 2006 chevy trailblazer ls v6. *tr
