1. not sure what caused the original failure, but i would say it started after i filled my car with gas 2. it was every time i filled with gas for the first few months, now it is constant and every time my car is in motion. 3. nothing has been done to correct the problem as the car is out of warranty and cost is well over $800, also they are unsure of the exact problem. details: my fuel light on my car reports that there is no gas in the car even after filling up. the engine light also comes on because of this and causes issues with the car. it is out of warranty and the deal says it is could be any number of problems with the fuel system that would cost over $800. it is very scary because of the warnings that come on the car. it started after filling with gas and before would be normal after driving about 20 miles. now it is constant. when i first start the vehicle it works fine and tells me the range, but as soon as the car is in motion it goes back to empty. have replaced gas cap and other things as suggested, but the problem is now constant and at times while driving i can smell gas very strong. it lasts for a about 10-15 minutes and is frightening, the dealerships says it could be the pressure in the gas tank. it is very scary and very expensive for an issue they are unsure of. i request you investigate this because it appears to be a problem that the dealership knows about and refuses to do anything about unless we spend the money for them to fix something they are not sure of and have been given about a 50% chance the problem returns. *tr
Fuel / gas gauge reading inaccurate. usually shows as empty... but constantly moves from full to empty. *tr
After changing the vehicle's battery, the fuel system, air system and 4x4 system have all failed. gmc is aware of my issue and hundreds of others. they refuse to fix this known issue, this vehicle is very dangerous to drive. *tr
2006 chevy trailblazer. fuel gauge does not function properly. gm is aware of the issue but has not issued a recall. when fill up vehicle it reads empty at first after using some gas it registers (in beginning). now it barely works at all. i have to use the trip odometer to measure approx gas remaining. *tr
I have a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. every time i fill up with gas, the gas gauge fluctuates and the empty light stays on. i have searched the internet and there are literally hundreds of people with this problem. my trailblazer has about 75,000 miles and it and has been having this problem for about a month. gm needs to fix these fuel gauges, etc. since it only happens when the car is out of warranty! they are aware of the problem and choose to do nothing! please help the consumers! *tr
Fuel gauge no longer works. *tr
My 2006 trailblazer ls 4wd gas gauge has begun to malfunction after just 57k miles. when i filled up the gas on 7/23/2009, the gas gauge registered it to be empty and a warning light appeared. *tr
Fuel gauge no longer reads tank capacity after 50k miles. *tr
On my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer, the fuel gauge is now stuck on empty, even after a tank fill-up. there are numerous trailblazer owners who have posted identical issues on online blogs. the dealership will charge $800 for the repair, which includes dropping the fuel tank. with so many instances of this, gm should issue a recall. if trailblazer owners with stuck fuel gauges are not diligent on their fuel usage and don't have the means to pay $800 for a repair, they could end up stuck somewhere, out of gas which is a safety/liability issue in my view. *tr
2006 chevy trailblazer fuel gauge always read empty. *tr
Fuel gauge read empty after filling up the gas tank. continued to read empty while driving. then it reads full then back to 1/2 tank . it reads all over the place. so now i have to go by mileage instead of the fuel gauge. my mileage is at 58,000 miles on a 2006 chevy trailblazer. please look into this!!!! there is many many complaints about this same thing happening. thank you. *tr
2006 chevy trailblazer. fuel level indicator malfunction. fuel gauge shows "empty" and light appears and sound goes off indicating that tank is empty. driver never knows if there is fuel or not which can lead to a highway breakdown. there is only 22,000 miles on the vehicle. problem is ongoing. *tr
My gas gauge quit working around 48,000 miles. it goes up and down. i ran out of gas this morning. did research on line and it looks like hundreds of people are having the same issues. was wondering if there has been a recall? i know there was one for the 04/05 models. everyone that i read said it cost them about $800. i can not afford that especially for something that chevy already knew about. shouldn't that have fixed before the 2006 models came out if they knew there was a problem with the 04/05?? *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. whenever fuel was added to the fuel tank, the "empty fuel" indicator would appear on the fuel gauge. the failure occurred at any fuel level capacity and without warning. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection and they stated that the sending unit failed. currently, the vehicle is being repaired. the failure mileage was 32,900 and current mileage was 33,493.
I have a faulty fuel level sender. it started as reading empty when i first fill up. and then after the fuel level would go down some, it would function normally. now it shows empty about 90% of the time no matter how much fuel is in the tank. no corrective measures done at this time. *tr
Gas gauge does not work. engine light and fuel lights stay on constantly. wife has run out of gas several times requiring roadside assistance and placing her in danger of accident. *tr
When i hit about 50,000 miles on my 2006 trailblazer, my gas tank sensor stopped working. now my gas gauge always shows empty. when i contacted the dealership and other body shop, they told me it was a common problem on these vehicles. i am out of warranty and the dealership wants to charge me $600 to $700 to repair something that is a defect on their vehicle. *tr
On friday, may 22, 2009, i had my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer serviced at the classic chevrolet dealership in grapevine for replacement of the fuel tank sensor (which appears to be a manufacturer defect as well). at approximately 6:00 p.m., i picked up my vehicle at the dealership. when my daughter and i got into the vehicle, the air conditioning was set to the highest fan setting with the temperature set to 60 degrees. i reduced the fan setting to 'auto' and raised the temperature setting to approximately 70 degrees. less than five minutes and approximately one (1) mile from the dealership, the rear glass window of the vehicle spontaneously exploded. at the time of the incident, i was traveling approximately 15 ' 20 miles per hour and there was not a vehicle in front or behind me. the noise and mess scared my daughter in the back seat and luckily, the glass did land on her. i immediately pulled over the vehicle to examine the damage and check the street for any objects that may have caused the damage. upon finding none, i returned to the dealership prior to there closing at 6:30 p.m. upon return to the dealership, the service technician offered to provide a quote the next morning for replacement of the glass, and could not provide any possible reason for the incident. upon leaving the dealership, i returned to the scene of the incident in order to examine the area more closely for a possible clue to the reason for this occurrence. after examining the street, the shoulder of the street and surrounding area closely, there was no evidence of the glass shattering from an external object. pieces of glass were on the street and surrounding areas up to twenty feet from the location of the incident. the next morning, i removed items stored in the rear of the vehicle and removed the broken glass, piece by piece. there was not a single object in the vehicle that could have caused the window explosion. this has occurred in other gm vehicles over the years. *tr
The gas gauge in my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer lt simply stopped working. it only reads empty and it is causing the check engine light to come on now which will in turn cause my vehicle to fail state inspection this year. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge would provide inaccurate fuel level readings sporadically. the vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not repaired. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was 50,000 and the current mileage was 73,000.
2006 chevrolet trailblazer has a defective fuel tank level sensor. *nj the consumer stated after the tank was fill up with gas, and the vehicle was started, a message displayed low fuel reading and the gas gauge read empty. the gas gauge also fluctuated and the check engine light illuminated. the consumer stated the fuel level sensor cost over 400.00 dollars to replace. the consumer was informed too much sulfur was in the fuel which caused the fuel level sensor to fail. *jb
My 2006 trailblazer is out of warranty and the fuel reads empty when you fill it up, i have seen numerous amount of trailblazers with this same problem. why does gm not stand behind it, its truly a defect to have so many with the same problem. *tr
Fuel gauge erratic/incorrect. *tr
2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the gas gauge has stopped working completely. this is a safety hazard because it is impossible to know how much gas is left in the gas tank. this is a danger as i could run out of gas while driving. although i can use the odometer to "guess" about gas, it is not a definite measure of the amount of gasoline i have left. i know that this has been an issue with other chevrolet suvs and trucks. i checked on fixing the problem but because the entire gas tank has to be pulled from the vehicle, it will cost approximately $800 to fix the problem. because this appears to be a recurring problem with chevrolet and gmc suvs and trucks, i believe that this is an issue that should be addressed by chevrolet and gmc. *tr
Gas tank gauge has not working properly starting around 40k miles. warning light and noise goes off randomly. have to manually calculate mileage now. too expensive to fix. now check engine light is on and the vehicle rpms drop down low when i'm at a stop sign. luckily, it hasn't died yet but i will have to take in. *tr
Around 60,000 miles, my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer gas gauge suddenly stopped working, only reading as empty and turning on the yellow gas light. this also caused my check engine light to turn on. upon taking my car for inspection, my car was failed, because the check engine light was due to a bad fuel sensor in my car and the charge to have it repaired is around $900. upon doing research about this part i found that many other people have had this exact problem around the same mileage as when my problem began. due to this problem i must now track my mileage in order to know when to fill up, and because i cannot afford the repairs, i cannot pass my state inspection. i feel this problem should be issued as a recall by gm. *tr
Gas gauge stopped working and engine lights stays on. *tr
The fuel gauge in my 2006 chevy trail blazer works intermittently and fluctuates between empty and half full over 12 months ago. this is a permanent condition. my car only had 42k miles on it - the warranty was over at 35k. other chevy owners of trailblazers have the same problem followed by electrical problems. the dealer stated the "fix" would cost 900 dollars. this is a known problem with chevy trailblazer and silverado models for several years. i was told the silverado was under a recall because the speedometer was affected along with the fuel gauge. but that the trailblazers were not under recall. this is a safety issue, as one can easily run out of fuel in traffic or be disabled on the side of the road without warning. *tr
At 57,000 miles, fuel gauge stopped working. consistently shows empty, even when fuel tank is full. causes fuel light to remain on and causes check engine light to go on occasionally. *tr
Fuel gauge will not work correctly and is on empty even though it was full of gasoline. the gauge is not working now at all and use tripometer to monitor mileage. why, because the dealership wants over $900 to repair and i don't have the money. how many complaints does your office need to receive before a recall is done by the manufacturer? this is dangerous and very expensive and there is no reason a car with 40,000 miles on it to have this happen. *tr
2006 chevy trailblazer, fuel level sensorlocatedin the gas tank has failed@roughly 56,600 miles. found numerous complaints of the same on the internet. given the millions of dollars given to gm they should be directed to deal with known short comings in their product. *tr
Fuel level sensor in 2006 4x4 chevy trail blazer malfunctioned. had to drop the tank to repair so the gauge would read correctly. *tr
Fuel gauge has stopped working completely. i was advised it was due t too much sulfur in the gas however feel it's poorly protected wires. if this has voltage to it and it is exposed is it a fire hazard? *tr
Fuel gauge is erratic and no longer accurately measures the tank contents. *tr
Failure to the fuel gauge sensor. started acting erratically, showing incorrect volume in gas tank, but was sometimes right. total failure came about 6 weeks after initial symptoms. causes engine light to activate as well. when i called the dealer and a garage, both were familiar with the problem and said it was common on gm vehicles. *tr
Fuel gauge is not working correctly. says empty (with the light on right after a fill-up) and fluctuates between empty and full between fills. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the fuel gauge read empty when it was full, half full or completely empty. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by a mechanic. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 37,000.
Around 65,000 miles, my 2006 chevrolet trailblazer gas gauge suddenly stopped working, only reading as empty and turning on the yellow gas light. this also caused my check engine light to turn on. upon taking my car for inspection, my car was failed, because the check engine light was due to a bad fuel sensor in my car and the charge to have it repaired is around $900. upon doing research about this part i found that many other people have had this exact problem around the same mileage as when my problem began. due to this problem i must now track my mileage in order to know when to fill up, and because i cannot afford the repairs, i cannot pass my state inspection. i feel this problem should be issued as a recall by gm. *tr
No warning-- filled up gas tank with 19 gallons- no warning light and not below orange line-- warning light comes on and gas gauge reads empty; then reads erratically-- have to drive and get gas based on trip odometer; took to repair shop told was ascending unit and fuel pump will cost anywhere from $700 to $1,100 to repair; apparently this happens with 2006 trailblazers between 40,000 & 50,000 miles (ours is at 57,000) --told will happen again at 100,000 miles-- have not had repaired waiting until can come up with to fix or completely quits working. *tr
Gas gauge is on empty all the time regardless of how much gas is in the tank. had it fixed at the dealer at 25,000 miles now it is happening again at 50,000. *tr
My 2006 chevorlet trailblazer's gas gauge is defective. he dealer says that the sending unit is corroded. i undrstand that there have been many such failure in this vehicle and other chevorlet products. *tr
Drivers door control panel burned causing failure of door locks, windows, etc. gas gauge continually showed incorrect amounts of fuel causing running out of fuel. replaced the part and it happened again.chevrolet took no blame.recently chevy notified all owners that there is a problem that they will fix up to 1/2 of the actual cost.(my share will be $218 for their mistake) back tail lights have blown out over and over again since purchase. finally replaced entire units on my own andit continued to happen. contacted chevrolet dealer and chevy customer service.went to dealer and had the taillights repaired but chevy again took no responsibility but kindly sent me a$1000 voucher for use on a new purchase of a chevrolet.the dealer repair cost was apprx.$680. still own the vehicle and will have make fuel gauge repair. *tr
Last night i filled my tank up; originally the indicator was on the last line before empty. when i turned my car on after filling the car up completely, the indicator on the fuel gauge went below the empty symbol and the low fuel light came on. i drove the car home and continued to check it through the evening. the tank read empty and the low fuel light was on every time i checked it, but no other lights came on. this morning the indicator was still below the empty symbol, the low fuel light was on, and now the check engine light came on. while driving to work the indicator fluctuated between full and empty. at lunch, 4 hours later, when i turned the car on the indicator was at full. however, after driving 2 miles, it went down completely to empty and the low fuel light can on again. after doing research on the internet this morning i found out that this problem was most likely a fuel sensor problem and that there were many other complaints. all complaints having a fuel gauge problem involved 2005 or 2006 chevy trailblazers that have reached mileage of 44,000-53,000 miles. when i called the chevy dealership where i bought the car i was told that i was correct, that this was most likely a fuel sensor problem. i was told that this was not a problem that trailblazers have, it was a problem that all new cars have, because there are so many electronic components in new cars and that they fail. it would cost a minimum $800-900 to fix. my car is barely 3 yrs old (2006 model bought used with 10,000 miles in june 06) and has 51,900 miles on it. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. after filling up the vehicle with fuel, the contact noticed that the fuel gauge failed and displayed that the tank was empty. the "low fuel" and check engine indicators illuminated on the instrument panel. due to the failure, the contact must always write down the amount of gas he purchases in order to estimate when the vehicle needs to be refueled. the dealer stated that the fuel gauge sensor failed and would cost $400 to repair. the vehicle has not been repaired or inspected by a technician. the manufacturer stated that the failure was not covered under warranty; therefore, no compensation would be provided. the failure mileage was 48,000 and current mileage was 49,600.
My 2006 trail blazer has approx. 60,000 miles. i have had to replace an injector. the heater fan motor is now not working and the fuel level sensor does not work, the lighter does not work and keeps blowing fuses if you try to use it. i have replaced both brake lights as well. *tr
I bought my 2006 chevy trailblazer in january 2008. right now, it has about 44,000 miles on it. two month ago, the fuel gauge completely stopped working. it always displays that the tank is totally empty and the fuel light is on, no matter if i just filled up the tank. i did research on the internet and have seen that this is a very widespread defect that has affected a large number of people. the mechanic i took the truck to says that it will be about $800 to fix...that is unacceptable. i want chevy to issue a recall on this vehicle and fix the defect that obviously is their fault. it isn't a coincidence that this same problem is happening to so many other people. *tr
Fuel gauge in 2006 chevrolet trailblazer malfunctions and shows empty even when tank is full. *tr
I hit a bump one day and the interior light popped on for a second and then went off. i eventually realized the rear door was not latching at all, i tinkered with it, tried some wd-40, it does work intermittently, but is getting to the point where its not latching the majority of the time. the 3 bolts holding the locking mechanism and the point where the lock with latch do show signs of corrosion. it appears the 2003 trailblazers had this same issue and eventually there was a recall. at 38,000 miles i also had the fuel gauge issue and the fuel sending unit is bad. *tr
Gas gauge stopped working correctly at 38k miles. fuel sending unit is bad. *tr
Fuel gauge reads empty and/ or sends random levels after refueling. *tr
