For the past several months, my gas gauge has registered "empty" regardless of how much gas was in the tank. also, the "check engine" light periodically comes on in the dashboard message center. i cannot tell if this is related to the fuel gauge malfunction or if there is another problem that needs attention. this has resulted in a great deal of inconvenience, anxiety, and big safety concerns. my daughter was driving my car one week while hers was being repaired. she ran out of gas and was stranded until another family member could leave work to come help her. when i contacted the dealer from whom i purchased the vehicle, i was told the gas tank would need to be removed to repair the dysfunctional sensor (at a cost of $500 to $600). i can see that this has been a recurring problem in several model years of this same vehicle and general motors has not corrected the problem. the failure of the manufacturer to correct the defect despite multiple complaints and safety concerns is unacceptable. i trust the u.s. dept. of transportation will act to order gm to recall affected vehicles for appropriate repairs. *tr

Gas gauge reading not correct.it will read the correct level then drop to empty. gas gauge does not work any more reads empty all the time it is a 2006 chevy trailblazer and doing research on the internet there are numerous chevys with the same problem. it is a safety hazard because a person could run out of gas in the middle of a intersection or when turning on a road or merging with traffic...... *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel level gauge had become inoperable and was reading inaccurately, despite the amount of fuel that was in the vehicle. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for repairs or diagnosis. the current mileage was approximately 51,000 and the failure mileage was approximately 46,000. the vin was unavailable.
The fuel sensor stopped working. gm sent out a form stating the sensor on certain years of the trailblazers would stop working prematurely and the company would be willing to pay half the cost of the replacement. this is a known issue and should be considered a recall. it should be replaced for free.
Fuel gauge quit working. *tr
When i would file up my 2006 trail blazer with gasoline, the gauge would not work properly. never knew for sure how much gas i had. now fuel gage does not work at all an d periodically check engine light comes on. have had it tested and it comes up as issues with fuel gage. *tt
My vehicles gas gauge simply ceased working with no apparent reason or warning causing me to run out of gas on a very busy highway. i took my vehicle to a repair shop who informed me that, more than likely, one of the three sensors in my gas tank had ceased working and that it would cost me approximately $1200.00 to repair the same, which i cannot afford and which has yet to be repaired causing me no end of grief and aggravation.
2006 chevy trailblazer fuel gauge inoperable- stays on e. *tr
I have two 2006 trailblazer's and both have failed fuel tank sensors. *tr
I own a 2006 chevy trailblazer and the gas gauge has stopped working. i was told the sensor is bad. it should be a valid recall. if you google it you can see how many people are having the same problem. i am going to watch the mileage for now and do fill ups as needed by mileage. i am not in a position to put out that kind of money for a well recognized problem. i have always bought ford, thought i'd try chevy, bad choice. i already also had to replace parts in the heater that want out in the middle of winter. *tr
In september 2010 i started having problems with my 2006 chevy trailblazer with the windshield wipers going all of the time . the only way i can get them to shut off or turn them back on is to take the fuse out. this is so inconvient because the fuse box is located in the backseat on the passengers side . i have to lift the seat up and remove two boxes and put in the fuse and to remove it i have to use pliers to get it out.... also my low fuel light stays on even when i have a full tank of gas so i am constantly at the gas station getting gas so that i am aways sure to have gas in my vehicle. the dealership wants to put the vehicle on diagnostic for $99 which does not go towards the cost of repairs which i can not afford because i am unemployed.. i have taken the vehicle back to the dealership i purchased it from and they indicate that it is no longer under warranty and there is nothing they can do but repair it and maybe give me 10% off of my repairs since i purchased it from them...... i see where u have many complaints on this same year and make and model.. do u have any suggestions on what can be done on this? *tr
This vehicle had the fuel level sensor fail at 98,000 miles at this time i went in to get a replacement part only to find that one was not available so with no other option we drove it without a fuel level gauge then gm sent out a special option coverage letter stating that they would cover 50% of the parts and labor of the repair so i again looked into a replacement part and found that one was now available so i had the repair done. only to find out that now gm is refusing to cover the repair because now the vehicle has 142000 miles on it after spending months of trying to get them to stand behind their product i had the bbb look into the issue and got no where so i had the states attorney general look into it and got no where now it is time for everyone to say enough and force gm to recall all 865,000 vehicles and do the right thing already. i really don't care if this will bankrupt their company that is the risk that they take when they put defective parts into the market and then don't do the right thing and replace them at their own cost not pass the cost onto their customers as they are trying to do. *tr
I was traveling on four-lane divided highway which is one of the major thoroughfares for our city when the vehicle suddenly shut off. the gas gauge read above empty, however the vehicle ran out of gas. traffic was fairly heavy at the time and had i not been traveling in the right lane and able to readily reach the emergency lane the safety of my passenger and myself could have been in jeopardy,
Fuel gauge is on empty all of the time, even after putting fuel in tank. *tr
Fuel pump sending unit gas tank shows empty even when the tank is full was told it would be 700.00 to fix this should be a recall the trailblazer only has 48,000 mile son it. *tr
When i filled my car up it would suddenly show it was empty & a check engine icon showed up & yellow low on gas warning light started dinging last fall 2010. when i drove approx 25 to 30 miles it would register gas normally & engine light would go away. i fill up every 2- 3 weeks normally. then this past february it went haywire & when i fill up it goes to the empty side, engine icon shows up & low on gas light dings & it never registers correctly at all, the gas hand is all over and i have been having to use the mileage gauge to even know how much i might have. it low gas warning will star dinging & i am driving down the road or interstate for no reason & startle me. it has caused me to suddenly jerk the steering wheel because i am startled & that is dangerous in itself. our family has been owned gm cars from the mid 1990's on and this has caused a very unsafe feeling for me. i have children & grandchildren with me and i feel very unsafe for the 1st time in this vehicle i am so nervous just driving to work & back & my eyes are constantly monitoring the panel when i need to keep focused on my drive. i am so concerned that since the gas gages are so wrong what would just keep it from "sensing" there is no gas and suddenly stop! i would hate for it to take a death to push this problem to be a recall. i am also a consumers report panelist and this will be on their report this year for sure. i have dealt with the noise issues as you drive & small things that happen as time goes on, but this is definitely an issue for recall. i need a safe vehicle and to trade is not the answer yet as i would not be honest in something else buying this car and maybe losing their life please i beg listen to the notices you have received concerning this, these are real as i have sensed myself in their concerns & complaints.
Fuel tank sensor on 2006 chevrolet trailblazer is defective and could result in running out of fuel, stall, and or being rear ended by another vehicle. i travel the highway to work everyday and it could cause a potential horrific highway accident. *tr
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. while adding gasoline to the fuel tank the contact noticed that the fuel gauge would not indicate the correct amount of gasoline. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the contact was informed that the fuel sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 44000 and the current mileage was 45000.
Tl*the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge indicated that the tank was empty and that the fuel light was also illuminated; both of these components malfunctioned although the fuel tank was full. the fuel gauge always displayed empty no matter how much fuel was in the vehicle. the contact also noticed that the fittings for the brake system were leaking. the contact called the dealer and was told that he would be responsible for all repairs (fuel sending unit and fittings replaced). the vehicle had not been repaired. the contact called the manufacturer who offered no assistance. the current mileage was approximately 77,000. the failure mileage was approximately 74,000. updated 07/19/11*bf the consumer also stated there was a problem with the 02 sensor. updated 07/28/11
2006 chevy trailblazer-gas gauge gives incorrect readings, low fuel alarms when tank is full, has caused fuel spills and out of fuel incidents. *tr
Gas gauge went crazy bounced to full then empty lights flashing then stopped working all together. i was told it is the fuel gauge sensor which costs around $1000 to repair due to having to drop the gas tank. also causes engine light to remain on at all times. *tr
The gas gauge on my 2006 trailblazer is inaccurate. it showed that i had a quarter of a tank of fuel left and the truck died while driving down a busy street. luckily the car behind me was able to avoid hitting me as we were only traveling 45 mph. *tr
After filling my 2006 trailblazer with gasoline, the gas gauge incorrectly read "empty". after the initial incorrect reading, my gas gauge has not been accurate since. on one instance, my wife ran out of gas on the side of a busy interstate highway and was stranded for about an hour before i could come bring her gas. this is unacceptable for a vehicle with less than 75,000 miles and less than 5 years old. *tr

I ran out of gas even though my car gas gauge said it had gas. when i went to put gas in car i filled it up and my gas gauge said it was empty even though it is full... my car on had 17,000 miles on it when it began having this problem gas gauge doesn't work took it to a mechanic and was told it was the sending unit and i know many people with 06 chevy's having the same problem. *tgr

My 2006 chevy trailblazer has had inaccurate fuel gauge readings since 8/10. for the previous 10 months it has read empty on the gauge and gives an audible warning. we have run out of gas 3 times. once in traffic. dealership wants over $800.00 to fix it. we had decided to diligently fill the car and check the tripometer regularly. we tried to register it and to no avail, won't pass. i have read numerous posts on line with the same problem. i am 45 years old and have owned 15 cars. not 1 has had this problem and all were older vehicles. additionally, 4 of the previous ones had been chevys. their seems to be a problem with several years of these vehicles. please conduct a recall asap. *kb
Fuel gauge began to show incorrect and erratic levels. it now shows that the tank is alway empty and puts on the service engine soon light every time i fill the tank all the way up. i have been told by the dealer that is needs a new fuel level sending unit at a cost of nearly $600. *tr
Fuel gauge fluctuation, causing the low fuel light to illuminate. eventually gauge drop to empty permanently. *tr

2006 chevy trailblazer: after filling the car up, the gas gauge reads empty and throws the check engine light. i have been told this is not an uncommon problem. it has also been brought to my attention that it is caused by the fuel level sensor/ fuel pump assembly. i was also told that it can cause problems with the drive train if it is not fixed. i have spoke to other trailblazer owners and they too have the same problem. my trailblazer only has a little over 43,000 miles on it. *tr
Fuel gauge reading empty after fill up then as driving on highway starts reading fuel level in city goes back to empty. while researching the problem on the internet found there is a problem with the fuel leveling sensor in the tank. this could be a safety problem since it is a combination of mechanical and electrical components that make this work. i will be repairing myself but gm needs to remedy this for so many others. *tr
While driving on the highway the 2006 chevrolet trailblazer stalled. i pulled over to the side of the road safely and was unable to start the vehicle. we had it towed to a garage and had to pay over $500 in parts and labor to get it fixed. in the end the mechanic stated that they could not find the fault, it just finally started. the fuel gauge has since failed and reads empty all the time. before the fuel gauge failed it would give inaccurate fuel readings. we have also had numerous stalls since that are resolved by waiting for 30 minutes and trying again. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact was driving various speeds and observed that the fuel gauge displayed an inaccurate reading of half a tank of fuel. the failure was intermittent and progressed. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the fuel level sensor was replaced. the vin was unavailable. the failure mileage was approximately 86,000. updated 01/13/11*lj updated 03/23/11

Tl* the contact owns a 2006 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the fuel gauge would not register an accurate reading after fuel was dispensed into the fuel tank to the full capacity level. a trip meter was used to monitor the distance traveled after refueling. the vehicle was unable to pass the state inspection due to the failure. the dealer was notified and they informed that the fuel sensor would need to be replaced. the vehicle was neither diagnosed nor repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 65,000. updated 02/11/11*lj

Filled my tank up with gas and it read empty. the gas level sensor does not work, i have to calculate my mileage and have been stranded with no gas on the side of the highway twice while i was pregnant and had an infant in the trailblazer with me. not safe and i think that if there are as many people having the same issue there needs to be a recall. from what i have read chevy has not issued a recall, yet all of there 05 and 06 models have this same issue. *tr

While driving my 2006 chevy trailblazer lt the fuel gauge stopped working. i have since learned that it is the fuel level sensor. however, in the midst of this the suv rain out of gas in the middle of a busy intersection. i was nearly hit by a tractor trailer. this incident could have cost me my life as i had no way of knowing that i was running out of gas because the gas gauge is not working. this is a serious safety issue because thousands of chevy trailblazers from 2002 through 2008 are experiencing the same issue. i found this by doing a simple google search. i believe that this should be a recall because it is not covered by any warranties but is a known problem with trailblazers and envoys. in addition to the current issue, i will not be able to pass safety inspection in ga without paying the $600 to get this fixed. my inspection is coming up in august. *tr
Fuel gauge system needle bouncing from e to f after tank is filled. once the gas tank is filled to the max, the e gas light comes on, and does not go off. *tr
I am submitting additional complaints, with regards to fuel level sensor problems, that gm has acknowledged a faulty product was installed on such vehicles and offered to pay 50% of repair costs to fix the fuel level sensors/transmitters - by sending letters to current owners. a recall is the right way going forward!! is there any way that this could be addressed/enforced? thank you *tr
