I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer ext that has a faulty gas gauge i cannot tell how much gas i have its extremely dangerous when you have children you need to pick up daily and drive to practives not knowing how much gas you have so your always in a panic to put more. *tr

The heater levels started to go out. first 5, then 1 until it no longer worked at all. i got it repaired but the 5th level does not work any more. the left half of the radio/cd player no longer lights up. my gas gauge would only register a quarter tank and then would eventually dropped to empty. it no longer works at all. most recently my speedometer will occasionally quit working or register the wrong speed. i have to shut the car off and restart until it works again. also, my tachometer goes way up when i begin driving and the car seems to rev way up before it changes gears and jerks into gear. i questioned a mechanic about this, thinking it was the transmission, which it isn't. there doesn't seem to be enough power. i have constantly had issues with this trailblazer every since i purchased it. i also owned a blazer at one time and also had a lot of trouble with it. i should have known better to purchase another chevy, but never again! *tr

1 fuel level sensor not working 2. 70% of the time 3.by gm nothing 2005 trailblazer. *tr

Two days after filling tank, i started having problems with the gas gauge. i had driven about 250 miles, but the gauge still read 3/4 full. my wife then took the truck to work that afternoon, thinking there was 3/4 tank of fuel left she did not fill up for the 80 mile round trip. half way home at 3:00 am she runs out of gas in the worst section of phoenix you can imagine. as she works in an inner city hospital, she drives through this section of the city daily and we have always made sure she has a reliable vehicle for the trip. fortunately a police officer stopped and stayed with her until aaa showed up. i would hate to think what would happen to a woman alone in a drug infested area of the city while her vehicle breaks down for a faulty fuel gauge. *tr

I bought this vehicle in dec 2010 for my birthday, then started smelling gas so took it back to dealer and they replaced the floater in gas tank and it was fine for awhile, then one day i went and filled up the tank, got in and started it up and it said empty and had the light on (when i knew it was full), since then i have had to rely on the miles to know if i still have gas, which is hard to do if you don't fill it up all the time. i am afraid of having my grandsons with me one day and running out of gas because it don't work..please recall this it is very dangerous to not know if you have enough gas when you have to go somewhere. this should not have happened since it was just fixed a few months ago. will this be an ongoing problem? i grew up with chevy's my dad use to say we were chevy country and my uncle's vehicles were found on the road dead (ford) i use to believe that chevy was best vehicle made, but this is changing my mind. *tt

Manufacturer : general motors corp. component(s) : i requests that nhtsa open an investigation into the two safety issues i have listed below. first issue: performance/reliability of the fuel level sensor installed in model year 2005 chevrolet trailblazer vehicles. my 2005 trailblazer fuel tank level sensor is defective and could result in a subject vehicle running out of fuel, stall, and being rear ended by another vehicle. also may 2, 2011 this is a very serious safety issue. please check into it right away. i was driving my 2005 chevy trailblazer home tonight and the headlights went out while going down the road. i turned the switch off and back on. still no lights, turned them off and on and low beam to high beam then they came back on and i was able to drive on home. i could have been killed. my 1995 lincoln town car had the same problem and it was some kind of recall had to do with the auto timer. is there some kind of recall to fix the chevy trailblazer amongst the thousands of complaints that are already against the 2005 chevy trail blazer? *tr

Instrument cluster replaced 1 1/2 years ago because of faulty instrument and speedometer readings. january of 2011 gas gauge malfunctioning reads empty when tank has been filled, and continues to misread levels at all times. *tr

Speedometer malfunction. *ln

Over the past year i have a variety electrical problems with my blazer. the gas gauge has stopped working, indicating that it is low on fuel or empty and my speedometer is no longer functioning. i have had to push all the way on the gas pedal at times to get the car to go. very dangerous especially when merging onto highways/freeways. i will never buy another chevy again! *tr

I bought my 2005 trailblazer in august 2008. in october 2008, the rear window hinge adhesive was separating causing the hatch to not close properly. this was replaced by the dealership. now in september 2010 the same thing is happening. the rear window adhesive has completely disconnected from the hinge and the window does not close properly and has a possibility of completely falling off. when the entire rear door is opened now the hinge 'pops' up and hits the glass. the dealership is trying to find an appropriate adhesive to mend this problem and they say chevy will not pay for another glass replacement. the first replacement came from the factory with the hinge connected to the glass. this seems like a factory defect. i know there are other chevy vehicles of different years that have experienced this problem and worse when the doors did fall off or the glass scattered due to the poor adhesive on the hinge. this will cost over $800 to replace if this cannot be resolved and there is no guarantee the adhesive on the new glass will hold and i will have no recourse. *tr

Chevy trailbazer 05... gas gauge keeps moving from low to empty back to full, sometimes it stays at empty. check engine light stays on. fuel sending unit keeps failing. unit was replaced in 2007 at dealership. sending unit has gone bad again. very expensive labor needed to fix this. when i fixed the first time i had warranty now it has expired. i checked online and it seems like everyone with a chevy trailblazer is having the same problem also my..to my knowledge this is a completely defect of the car. my major fear is to run out of gas on the highway and my car to stall. leading to an accident.....also the instrument panel light keep getting darker..sometimes several lights come on. *tr

I have a 2005 chevy trailblazer lt and live in birmingham, al. on my way home from church on a sunday morning, i encountered a severe issue with my speedometer. as i was driving up on a police officer i looked at my speedometer, which said i was doing 70 so i began slowing down but my speedometer didn't - it continued to go up. i started hitting my brakes thinking that would make the speedometer go back down but it didn't. as i pulled off the interstate and stopped at a red light, the speedometer kept going up to 110 mph. then as the light turned green, i started again and the speedometer went straight to the bottom facing the floor. i thought when i get home and turn the car off, the speedometer would reset itself. well ... it didn't!! i don't know what i'm going to do now! the economy is so !@#$% bad that i'm in the middle of a foreclosure and now this crap happens! gm should recall this faulty issues as it is a dangerous situation. if you don't know how fast you are going ... how the !@#$% do you drive without a speedometer unless you are looking to get in trouble by the law!! *tw

2005 chevy trailblazer fuel level sensor malfunction causing gas gauge light to stay on all of the time. wife ran out of fuel on highway. very dangerous!!! *tr

My 2005 trailblazer instrument panel constantly fails - the speedometer stops working which is a safety issue. the gas gauge has been fixed once already and is now broken again. the vehicle has power surges which is another safety issue. the transmission shifts the car up and down when trying to slow down causing power surges. this is another safety issue. the following are other issues which this model vehicle: stereo cd player stopped working, the check engine light comes on when the gas cap light, the lights flicker also. i ought this vehicle used and with a cracked front bumper which the dealer didn't fix (dealer stuck a little bondo on area and repainted it so i thought it was a new bumper when i accepted the car after repair. it cracked in a matter of days) and i know this was caused due to the surges in power. a severe safety issue. the vehicle has serious electrical problems the chevrolet should stand behind and fix. it is not fair to the consumer. i have checked the web and have read many, many other similar complaints. chevy owners should fill a class action lawsuit against chevrolet if they don't do a recall and fix these problems. i experience a fender bender accident when my vehicle didn't stop and bumped another cars back bumper causing an accident and an insurance claim. i am fed up with this vehicle but can't afford to replace it. *tr linda vanauken

[xxx] of chicago, il, petitioned the agency in a letter dated november 27, 2009. the petitioner requests that nhtsa open an investigation into the performance/reliability of the fuel level sensor installed in model year 2005 chevrolet trailblazer vehicles. the petitioner alleges that the fuel tank level sensor is defective and could result in a subject vehicle running out of fuel, stall, and being rear ended by another vehicle. odi will evaluate the petition for a grant or deny decision. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

My speedometer is acting bizarre, it just goes round and round, started abut 2 months ago. i understand that the 2003 & 2004 were recalled for the chevy trailblazer. now within the last week, my gas gage has gone crazy not showing accurately, first on empty light on low fuel, then while i'm driving light will go off and it registers to show full take when actually i may have 1/2 tank. i took to repair shop each item is over 300.00 for repair. he suggested to look into see if the censor was recalled for the gas, and that 03 & 04 was recalled for the speedometer and if 05's were being recalled. *tr

The numbers on the selection for the radio and cd paint has peeled off and i had the radio replaced once. *tr

Fuel sensor within fuel tank has failed twice within 130,000 miles. idler pulley has been replaced three times within 120,000 miles. *tr

2005 chevy trailblazer speedometer broken only has 29,540 miles. all of a sudden it stop working only 3 years of ownership, brought brand new. this is an expensive part to purchase and very unfair, ....*tr

I have a 2005 trailblazer and the speedometer is not working correctly sometimes is stays on zero and then there are times it reads 120miles when im guessing i'm going around 30 miles and there are times when in park it reads any where from 40 to 60 mph. has of now i do not have the means to fix the problem and not that i feel i should have to pay out of pocket seeing how i believe this is a gm problem and not mine are the other hundreds of gm owners with the same problem! this is a safety issue that should be resolved as soon as possible....oh and it is a everytime i drive this gm product occurrence,,,i never know what speed i am truly going!!! *tr

1.) no events took place dashboard cluster just failed. 2.) speedometer, oil gage, rpm, gas gauge everything went haywire, impossible to tell speed... 3.) my understanding is the dash board cluster is bad, its 450-600 dollars to repair, there has been alot of complaints but no recall yet? this should be a recall, this issue is well documented and known about... this is a safety issue, the speedometer should work, the instruments should work. *tr

Turned vehicle on and found a/c blower not working and abs and brake light come on. blower will come on intermittently when the bas / brake light goes out. i am concerned that if there is a short in the system there could be a fire. chevrolet should be taking care of this concern for the owners. *tr

Speedometer quit working , indicator needle goes up and down, even when car is parked. *tr

Exterior lights and interior lights dim out randomly while driving. the service department at gm says it is normal and nothing they can do. chevrolet has issued a bulletin regarding this. how safe can it be to drive at night with headlights dimming out? *tr

In march 2007 the check engine light came on and stayed on . i took vehicle to dealer to have it checked out. it turned out to be the secondary air pump either clogged, not running or something electrical with it. ever since then all the exterior and interior lights became bright then dimmed for a few minutes when i start the vehicle. after leaving for work and stopping the vehicle to turn, and then again a few miles down the road, the headlamps started to flicker. sometimes it flickered a few more times before i got to work , only 25 minutes from home. i have noticed the battery gauge fluctuated while this is happened. i was told that this was normal. also, i am not sure this was related, but ever since the check engine"light problem the air conditioning system did not work properly. it didn't work on 5, but it did blow some on the other levels, and that varied too. i have had the air conditioning recharged, to no avail, it acted like there was a leak somewhere. hopefully ,gm or someone else will find the solution before there was an electrical fire or even a case of road rage due to other drivers thinking i wa s flashing the bright lights at them. *ak

Brakes squeal on normal braking. back tires spin on dry road and squeal like someone is "peeling out". brakes seem to ride low to the floor and barely stop the vehicle when having to stop quickly. besides that, they make the truck keep on rolling even though the brakes are being applied . it's like the computer in the brake system detects nothing when you try to stop, i've had some very near misses as far as accidents are concerned. i just paid this monster off now everything is going wrong. *jb

The gas gauge is not operating. it stopped working without any warning. *tr

On the back of my 2005 trailblazer the seal around the license plate was melting . it ran like black tar. talked with other owners, and they all had the same problem. was part on recall. had it replaced just after i bought the car, but the problem recurred. *ak

Purchased 2005 trailblazer 3/8/05 @ bacon chevrolet in palestine,tx. problems: while driving headlight & interior dashboard lights flicker & shut off, engine loses power & surges lunging forward, battery gauge drops & pegs out, check engine light comes on, ding alarm, radio, electric locks, etc, w/ no key in ignition go off & on, no power cant start vehicle. svc mgr/tech comments: cant duplicate complaint, no codes showing, gm bulletin stating "normal" & working as designed, can not replace or work on anymore due to tech/gm motors stating "normal", or until problem can be duplicated or until they have a way to fix. repairs:(total of 9 times in shop) 2 headlamp switches, 1 battery, 3 times wiring harness gone through, numerous pcm updates/reprograms, fuel pressure check, ipc reprogram, data recorder installed, replaced bcm body control module, workorders have been altered & work stated done that has not been done. i have all my workorders. conclusion: took to bbb of tyler,tx.cs#chv0592738, had arbitration hearing. bbb's decision was that their opinion was that the lights going off while driving was not a safety issue. thought the bbb was suppose to be a consumer advocate! i found this website while doing a college research paper. how many other consumers have same problem, but do not know about this website. will anything be done before someone is killed or is that what it will take! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. since purchasing the vehicle, the headlamps flicker or dim while driving, similar to a power surge. the dealer was initially unable to duplicate the failure. when the failure was able to be duplicated, the dealer was unable to make a repair. at the end of september of 2007, the steering column made a sparking sound and the dealer could not duplicate the failure once more. on september 20, 2007, the radio and all the components on the instrument panel failed intermittently. the vehicle had to be turned off and restarted for them to eventually operate again. in addition, the dome lights would remain illuminated. the driver's side door latches were replaced twice. the rear hatchback latch was replaced twice. when the key was removed from the ignition, the key buzzer would continue to sound. on january 25, 2008, the rear wiper motor was replaced and failed again on march 4, 2008. the current mileage was 36,182 and failure mileage was 70. updated 4/2/08 *cn the consumer stated the emblem on the rear tailgate loosing color, brake pads and rotors are worn. updated 04/02/08 *tr
