Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while the vehicle was parked in the driveway without the keys in the ignition, a fire originated from the driver's door near the window switch. the contact extinguished the fire. the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 159,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the windows failed to open. in addition, the contact stated that when attempting to open the front passenger's side window, the window independently opened and closed. the failure occurred on four occasions. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the master power switch needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

Starting up my car last wednesday morning,i went to roll my window down on the drivers side and there was a hesitation then it stopped and i smelled something burning.from that point forward i was no longer able to roll my window down or up and lost all functions from that contact pad....in looking thru the varies recalls for this vehicle i noticed the recall for the drivers door module in 2006,2007. if this recall initiated with the 2005 trailblazer in 08/12, why is this model not included in the recall???? why will i have to pay the $400 in repairs somehow this doesn't seem ethical. especially if you knew this was happening in the 2005 chevy trailblazer...i am sure i am preaching to the choir but maybe you can provide me with incite as to the logic!!!!!!!! *tr

I was driving down the highway in a rainy state with the driver's window partially cracked. water began dripping in onto the driver window control panel, so i closed the window. a few minutes later i went to roll down my window and none of the controls worked. there was a faint electrical burning smell. all four window controls on the panel would no longer function as well as the heated seat buttons. the door lock still functioned as well as the window lock out button. i'm just glad this happened with the window up. swapping the passenger side door control panel with the driver's side door control panel allows you to raise and lower the window, so it is the control panel that is defective. i see that the 2006 and 2007 models were recalled for this due to fires, but no recall exists for the 2005 fires as fires haven't been reported yet. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving various speeds, the front driver side power door lock and window failed to activate. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on numerous occasions. the vehicle was repaired, but the cause of the failure was unknown. the failure recurred after the repair was performed. the vehicle was not repaired for the most recent failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 91,000.

The window and lock controls on the driver door handle just stopped working leaving my window open. it is not a fuse. i began looking for other issues online and have come across this issue on earlier model trailblazers. i am in a cold climate as the other recall is applicable to. *tr

Driver side master power window switch does not work the driver side window at all! out of the blue this stopped working. further research shows that the 2006-2007 models were recalled not the 2005! really, this car is "currently registered in a cold weather state which uses salt to clear the roads" (direct quote from general motors and isuzu recall 258,000 suvs, the associated press, august 19, 2012) since 12/2005 which is when the vehicle was purchased. just because my vehicle did not have a fire "yet" but i have the "exact" problem which arose before these vehicles did catch fire, mine is not recalled? not only was the transmission recalled in 2008, i had a problem with the "blower motor" not working when you turn on the heat. you could only turn on the heat to no. 4. the truck was taken for service on 1/10/06, 1/30/06, 2/7/06 and 2/17/06 which was not even 2 mo. after purchasing said vehicle before the problem was corrected. in 11/06 the "fuel pump module" was replaced and covered "only" because i had the extended warranty and i had to pay the $100.00 deductible, because i had gas but it was not registering. again, i continue to have this problem. when calling gm on 7/24/13 about the window switch recall, i now find out that there is a "special coverage" for the "fuel level sensor". this is covered until 7/24/14, per gm (866-694-6546), unless you have more than 120,000 something miles. was not sure of the mileage exactly since mine is below that figure. the window switch is a serious malfunction that needs to be covered in "all years" of this vehicle. while sitting at a red light with your foot on the brake, the vehicle will just rev up and want to take off. i guess this isn't a "big deal" either. you can't even listen to the radio to distract you with all these problems going on because the radio only comes out of "one" speaker! go figure, it is gm! *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that when it rained water would entered the driver's door module and caused the power door lock, power mirror, keyless entry, and power windows to malfunctioned. the contact was informed of a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 12v406000 (visibility:power window devices and controls) for the 2006 model experiencing the same problem. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure and current mileages was 91,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. while driving approximately 25 mph, the brakes failed. the failure occurred intermittently for three years. the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 62,000. the window regulator, battery cable, tank level sensor, clutch fan, serpentine belt, tight outer tie rod, hood latch, water pump, were all replaced. also, the rotors were warped, due to rust by climate, the rear brakes pads were worn and had to be replaced. the front rotors were machined. there was an intermittent surge after accelerating from a stop. there was a squealing noise coming from the brakes. the passenger side brake lights were blowing out. the tail light circuit board was replaced. the check engine light illuminated, due to a faulty emission vent valve and hose assembly. the abs was engaging, when coming to a stop. updated 10/01/14

I have the same issue as the 2006, 2007 trailblazer recall of august 2012. the door module shorted out. *tr

On december 21, 2011 my fuel had a half tank of gas. i went into the store and came out my fuel registered empty light came on. i rushed to the gas station to put more gas in and thought some one stole my gas out of my tank. this happened with the amount of fuel in my tank not registering four times since the first incident. than on january 01, 2012 my front wind shield wipers will not stop. when i turn off the vehicle they stop, when i turn on the vehicle they continue to wipe my windows until i turn my vehicle off. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that while driving 45 mph, the vents released a burning odor. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who diagnosed that the blower motors resistor and connector were melted. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but denied assistance with the repairs because of the age of the vehicle and the expired warranty. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure and current mileages were 65,000.

The front blower stopped working while my wife was coming home from a trip with my kids .the temperature outside was 28 degrees the windows fogged up and she hit a deer that she would have seen if the windows weren't fogged.i have replced the blower resistor switch which had a burnt connector it lasted 3 weeks and has gone out again. this is a very bad problem because even when you have this problem repaired it still malfunctions without warning. this is putting myfamily at great risk. onthe other hand had i known that there was problems with chevy trailbrazers and defective parts i would have brought a toyota. *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer ls (na). the contact stated that after having her vehicle serviced at a local repair, the driver side window was left down. after the vehicle was returned to her, the window would no longer move up. the vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 98,000. the vin was unavailable.

My gas gauge always reads empty even when the car is full. engine light always goes on and off between a matter of days. recently my heat went out in my car we changed the resistor and found out one of the prongs were burnt out. a week later the heat went out again. looked at the resistor and the same prong was burnt out!! i'm getting really fed up with this vehicle! *kb

Fuel warning light comes on and off at will. fuel gauge works when it feels like it should. no consistency. *tr

While driving the, window switch began to smoke so i physically removed the switch and have since not had power window access on the passenger side front door. the cost to replace was too great and at the bottom of the priority list. more recently, maybe 2 months ago, the driver side switch showed signs of the same results after a smell of burning electronics and heat to the touch so i simply unplugged the switch all together. the cost to replace these switches is quite significant and have not had any luck with chevrolet in the past with complaints so i figured i would wait until i had a little extra money to replace these switches. on the news today i heard the end of a report and only caught the words gm and window switches so i came home and searched and came across so articles involving 2006 models. that is how i came across this website. i would very much hate to find out that the company does not know the problem exists further than 2006. an unrelated problem i encountered with the vehicle, which was quite unnerving, was that the third brake light assembly came off while driving on a local highway at @ 65 mph approximately 2 years ago. the fixture became un attached from the passenger side and was "flapping" off the driver's side. only for a matter of time, i'm sure. luckily our family was being followed by another family and they notified us by cell phone and we were able to remove the fixture without incident on the shoulder. it would have caused serious problems without doubt had it come completely off. when we notified the dealership, they told us we were out of our warranty and were on our own. thank you for taking the time to try to make our highways safer! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph at an intersection, his view was obstructed by a wavy windshield which resulted in a crash. the contact stated that there were waves in the windshield. there were no injuries. the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that they would report the failure to quality control and respond to the contact within a week. the failure mileage was approximately 75,000. updated 05/19/10 *bf updated 09/07/10

No real events, the hinge became unglued from the rear window, causing the window to become unhooked from the body of the trailblazer. because this then raises the window above the roof of the vehicle the wind can catch it and pull it completely off the vehicle when traveling at high speeds. *tr

2005 trailblazer: 1) speedometer would read wrong speed while driving, needle would max or zero out while driving, and now is completely not working; can not determine correct speed which could lead to ticket or accident. 2) wipers stay on with switch in the off position, must pull fuse to stop them; wipers are distraction going across dry window or must stop to put fuse in if weather requires. currently vehicle is in shop for repair. first replacement part for wipers did not solve problem. through viewing other internet comments this is not an isolated problem. it needs to be addressed before an unexpected driver is involved in an accident do to these issues. *tr

Blower motors not working, replacing the part, and finding the wiring is melted and shorting out on the heater control module right side or referred to as the resistor. there has been no recall on this part, but we have found several vehicles with this part have the same electrical malfunctions which are causing other malfunctions in the vehicle. to remedy the problem they need to update the heater control module on the right side or referred to as the resistor. this is the problem. *tr

Front passenger window stuck in down position. would not roll up. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. the contact stated that the ignition switch failed. the dealer replaced the ignition switch and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v400000 (electrical system). in addition, the contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired for the exhaust manifold crack, the water pump, the evaporator cord, the headlight wiring harness (which melted and caused the light bulb to fail), the hub assembly, the instrument panel cluster, the motor blower resistor wires, and the door locks. the contact also stated that the rear windows would not open or close and the rear hatch lock system and instrument panel cluster failures persisted. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failures. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 83,875.

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. she noticed that the adhesive that held the rear window in place came loose. she took the vehicle to the dealer and when they attempted to open it the glass shattered. the dealer stated that they would not repair it at their cost. the contact felt the vehicle should be included as part of nhtsa campaign# 05v035000 (visibility: windshield). the current and failure mileages were 67,000.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving at night, the headlights dim and flicker on and off. this occurred intermittently without warning. the front passenger power window rubs against the door frame and intermittently fails to close. the dealership replaced the alternator; however no further inspections have been made. the manufacturer has been alerted.

Dt*: the contact stated, while washing the vehicle, water leaked through the windshield molding. there is a nhtsa recall # 05v035000 which pertains to the visibility:windshield. the vehicle was not included in the recall due to the vin.

Our new suv (gsa vehicle) has a windshield that slopes at to steep of an angle. the rearview mirror is stuck on the glass almost in the middle of the windshield severely compromising my forward to right side visibility. what were the engineers thinking? also, the vehicle lacks power window safety switches that could choke a child if they stood on them with their head out the window. i thought these switches were outlawed years ago? *nm

Night driving under normal circumstances the vehicle a chevrolet trailblzer ls 2005 has a problem that randomly shuts off the headlights and dashboard lights. the trailblazer decides to do this totally on its own at random. this causes a potentially deadly situation when on the interstate and your headlights go out and decide to come back on at random intervals maybe aproximately 15 to 20 seconds apart. several attemps have been made to the chevrolet dealership to get the problem repaired. their comment is that they either cannot duplicate the problem or their is a service bulletin that explains the issue. i have done the procedures that the dealership described in the service bulletins with no success. currently my trailblazer is being repaired once again at terry lee chevrolet as of 12-19-06. the last time that the vehicle was in for repair terry lee chevrolet replaced what they had though was a faulty body control module. replacing this module obviously did not rectify the problem and on thursday 12-14-06 the problem once again returned. since the vehicle is used to transport my childeren and wife who have been driving primarily at night. i have become skeptical about whether or not the vehicle is safe to actually drive at night because you never know when the lights will decide to turn off by themselves and potentially cause them to be in an accident. *nm

The rear view mirror w/onstar on the windshield blocks your view to the right, this has happened two times to me in the past 60 day i have had the vehicle. *nm

Windshield has considerable distortion and causes visibility problems while driving (especially in traffic). gm claims this is normal and will not replace the windshield. this is a significant safety concern. *nm

The windshield in my 2005 chevrolet trailblazer was defective from the factory. it had such bad ripples in the glass that it made me feel as if i were looking through a pair of bifocals. after a couple of trips back to the dealer i finally convinced them to replace it! the new one is better but still has flaws in it. i've been looking at other trailblazers now and see the same defect in many other vehicles. i feel that could be a serious safety concern and that something should be done about it!

Dt: the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. he states that the windshield on the passengers side looks as if one was looking through a magnifying glass around the edges of the window. but is worse on the driver's side. also, on the windshield there is a wavy effect through the field of view and makes this distracting for the driver.*ak *jb

Tl*the contact owns a 2005 chevrolet trailblazer. since purchasing the vehicle, the headlamps flicker or dim while driving, similar to a power surge. the dealer was initially unable to duplicate the failure. when the failure was able to be duplicated, the dealer was unable to make a repair. at the end of september of 2007, the steering column made a sparking sound and the dealer could not duplicate the failure once more. on september 20, 2007, the radio and all the components on the instrument panel failed intermittently. the vehicle had to be turned off and restarted for them to eventually operate again. in addition, the dome lights would remain illuminated. the driver's side door latches were replaced twice. the rear hatchback latch was replaced twice. when the key was removed from the ignition, the key buzzer would continue to sound. on january 25, 2008, the rear wiper motor was replaced and failed again on march 4, 2008. the current mileage was 36,182 and failure mileage was 70. updated 4/2/08 *cn the consumer stated the emblem on the rear tailgate loosing color, brake pads and rotors are worn. updated 04/02/08 *tr

Consumer bought a new vehicle that had a defective windshield. result, poor visibility. took vehicle back to dealer, and the windshield was replaced again. consumer took the vehicle back a third time. gm had sent the dealership a notice not to replace any more windshields for the chevrolet trail blazer. *ak
