Dashboard is cracked on both sides driver and passenger and general motors refuses to pay for it!! this should require a recall and the nhtsa has done absolutely nothing this could be life threatening!i
The dash board around the airbag is cracked. i have found on the internet this has been a known problem with these cars in this year. i am in fear that if the airbag deploys the dashboard could fly off and injure a member of my family. i don't understand why nothing has been done concerning these dashboards with all of the complaints...... i guess it takes someone to be killed for someone to take action!!!!!!
Dash board is cracking for no apparent reason. it has cracked on the drivers side as well as around the area where the air bag is kept. my fear is that because of the cracks the air bag could possibly deploy with no warning while driving and cause me to have accident or to cause an accident. there have been numerous reports on the gm model 2007 - 2014 tahoes, yukons and trucks that the dashboards are cracking in the same areas on all of the vehicles around the air bag. *tr
Just bought the car about 3 months ago wit only 53000 mike more less and within the past month the dash has started cracking one of the cracks is so close on the edge to the airbag that i have a fear the the air bag system might fail or even get cut on deployment due to a accident and some can get very hurt due to failure on design of dashboard and dealer won't even cover it under warranty and no recall has been done car is less than 5 years old and only has 55000 miles for this to break and with time it will only get worse
Dashboard has cracked in multiple places (joint near passenger airbag & several places above instrument panel on driver side). we're concerned that a front end impact accident could cause a piece to shear off and cause damage to either the airbags or the passangers that they are supposed to protect. dashboard has already been replaced once at our expense. vehicle has mostly been garage kept.
I own a 2011 tahoe that has been kept in the garage and is in immaculate condition. i have 2 cracks on my dashboard; one on the upper left-hand side of my passenger side airbag and the other right behind my steering wheel. this crack is actually branching into two cracks now. i have some serious concerns regarding the safety of my vehicle in the event i am in a collision and my airbags need to be deployed. this cracked dash seems to be a common issue in tahoes from at least 2007 and newer and i am concerned that gm has done nothing to recall this issue, especially considering how far back it appears to be affecting vehicles. my concern is the possibility of lack of airbag deployment and/or shards of sharp plastic flying through the air in the event of a collision causing injury to passengers or, in the event my airbags do deploy, a compromise to the effectiveness of their deployment due to puncture. it is apparent the dash is defective by the number of similar issues reported by customers. it is apparent that the dash is already compromised due to these cracks and gm needs to consider the safety issues posed with this defect. *tr
Dashboard cracking and it is looking unsafe if airbags deploy.
The dash is cracking on passenger side and driver side. and the cracks keep growing. the add washer fuel light stays on and there is fluid in the reservoir.
Tahoe dash recall: copy of letter sent to gm... chevrolet customer assistance center p.o. box 33136 detroit, mi 48323-5136 on 7/18/2011 we purchased a 2011 tahoe (vin #[xxx]) replacing our previous 2003 tahoe, both purchased new and both at ed morse chevrolet located at 14401 w. sunrise blvd., sunrise, florida 33323-3202. although i have had some quality and workmanship complaints, our tahoe has been a reliable vehicle. the service at ed morse has also been outstanding. however, i must register my dissatisfaction with two obviously defective items on the tahoe that general motors have not considered it important enough to conduct a recall. my 2011 tahoe is fitted with the "regional value package" which included "chrome door handles" which is nothing but chrome looking plastic. these "chrome" door handles have cracked two times and have been replaced on june 8th. 2013 (invoice #[xxx]) and june 21st. 2014 (invoice # [xxx]) under the factory warranty. on october 15th. 2013 at 17,198 miles, the dashboard to my 2011 tahoe cracked. this was covered under my factory warranty. my tahoe is now at ed morse chevrolet getting the dashboard replaced again due to it cracking in the same exact place. unfortunately, this time i'm being told that they will be charging me a "co-payment" of $200 to replace the dash. after doing some research, it's obvious that both the door handles and the dashboards on the tahoe and similar models have a defective design and inferior materials. i should not be charged a $200 "co-payment" to fix something that general motors knows is a defective part. there are numerous postings, blogs and threads that refer to these "defective items" especially on the dashboard. even facebook has a page dedicated to the cracked dashboards. https://www.facebook.com/groups/gmdashcrack/?fref=nf information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
I am the original owner of a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. the dash is cracked next to the passage side air bag and by the instrument cluster on the driver side. i am concerned if the air bag deploys on the passenger side the dash will exploded and send shrapnel at the passenger.
There is a recall, no gm has not issued a solution to replace the airbags. safety issue plus dashboard cracked on passenger side at the seam where the airbag is located. dealership does not have an answer to resolve problem.
I was driving west on rio rd. in charlottesville, va, at roughly 35 mph. at approximately 6:00 pm, a deer emerged from the passenger side of the vehicle. it happened instantaneously and avoiding the deer was not an option. immediately after striking the deer at the front right bumper (underneath headlight), the side airbags deployed in my 2011 chevy tahoe. however, the airbag that was suppose to deploy from the drivers seat (on the side near seatbelt) did not deploy. additionally, the front two airbags (from steering wheel and dashboard) did not deploy as well. moreover, approximately three months back, another family member also hit a deer with the same vehicle (2011 chevy tahoe) and at that time no airbags deployed. in this incident the vehicle was traveling 70 mph and the deer struck the left side of the front bumper and no airbags deployed. at the time, we didn't even think about defective airbags, but now, we are very, very concerned that there's a defect. we simply do not know what to do. i have contacted chevrolet directly and they assure me someone will come out and look at the vehicle this week sometime. i would be relieved if someone from the nhtsa also investigates these two scenarios. what is chevrolet's responsibility to me and my family in these two cases? and what is the best course of action? furthermore, i can arrange for my insurance adjustor to gather any documentation from the first incident (where airbags did not deploy) such as photos, reports and provide them to you. the vehicle is sitting in my driveway because i am waiting for a chevrolet representative to come and inspect it. i would appreciate your prompt action in this matter. thank you! *tr
Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remained illuminated while driving. the contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags); however, the part needed for the repair was not available. the contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. the contact called (bruce lowrie chevrolet, 711 sw loop 820, fort worth, tx 76134) where it was confirmed that the recall part was on backorder. the manufacturer was called and stated that the part was not available for the repair and there was no time frame on when the part would become available. the approximate failure mileage was 30,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.
Typical chevy tahoe dash cracking issue. it worries me that if i am in an accident that sharp pieces of plastic may cause more harm to someone inside the cabin than if it was addressed and repaired. gm is at fault for using cheap materials and the consumer shouldn't have to pay. it isn't caused by anything that the owner of the vehicle is or isn't doing. purely material and manufacturing defects. we pay $50k for these trucks each the least gm could do is spend the $500 if that per vehicle to replace it.
I have taken my car to the dealers several times to fix the airbag recall. they say that it is a recall and they cant do anything about it. so what do i do to get it fix.
