We have classified the 109 complaints from 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe about STRUCTURE into the following categories.
I have a 2007 chevy tahoe ltz with 60k miles on it now. my girlfriend normally rides with me and has cut her hand on several occasions now on my interior door handle that is peeling. it started with the front passenger side door handle, and now all 4 door handles are peeling on the car and the metal that is still on poses a serious cut risk. i went to the dealer and so far they told me they can replace the parts but at a cost and labor to me, not covering any portion. after researching this it seems to be a major problem with my type of car model and i feel like gm should deal with this crappy part and replace for free. *tr
Door handles are peeling chrome covering off of inside door handles causing a person pulling on the handle to exit vehicle to cut their fingers on the sharp edge of the chrome. *tr
I just purchased a used 2007 chevy tahoe and i have cut my fingers on both door handles. it seems that they used cheap chrome plated handles and it is pealing. it is razor sharp. i am just glad neither my wife or kids got cut. please research this and see if there are others. dealer will not replace because the vehicle has over 36,000 miles. this should be fixed! thanks *tr
I owe a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. i noticed in july of this year that there is a 2-3 inch crack on the top left corner of the dash on the passenger's side--right on top of where the air bag is! i took the vehicle to the dealer and they said "since it's not a safety issue" general motors said they will not replace the dash! how do they freaking know it's not a safety issue when it's on top of the air bag??? and now there's another crack! this one is just to the left of the driver's side instrument panel on top of the dash! this crack is 6-7 inches long. i take super good care of my vehicles, sun shades, regular conditioning, etc. and since the vehicle is 4 years old, there is no reason (other than crappy workmanship and crappy materials and crappy engineering) to have not one but two cracks on a $50,000 vehicle! so i'm guessing when my air bag fails on my passenger side and when my daughter gets hurt in a wreck because the airbag doesn't properly deploy, then it will be a safety issue because i will be all over general motors. this is not an isolated incident. check the internet. hundreds of complaints of the same cracks happening. gm is aware of the problem and is choosing to do nothing about it. please look into this issue and help us get this problem resolved. *tr
The chrome "paint" on the interior door handles has flaked off and when you open or shut the door from the inside, it gives you a "paper cut." it has cut my fingers several times, you don't even think about the actions of opening or shutting the door before you do it because it is second nature so it is hard to do something to prevent it. *tr
Chrome-platted inside door handles are peeling and fingers are being sliced. *tr
The chrome on my interior door handle of my 2007 chevrolet tahoe is separating at the seem. when i went to exit the vehicle the edge cut my two fingers badly, more than just a paper cut. the chrome is as rigid as a piece of aluminum from a soda can. *tr
Interior door handles on 2007 chevy tahoe are sharp to the touch and we have received several cuts. *tr
I have had the dash crack in 4 different places; two on the driver side on each side of the steering column and two other around the airbag. the two around the airbag have made it so that there is free piece of plastic that is not secured by anything. i am afraid that if the air bag was to deploy then this piece would cause great bodily harm to anyone in the vehicle. the manufacturer knows of this issue and is not offering to replace the dash without some sort of compensation. *tr
I currently own a 2007 chevy tahoe. the chrome on the passenger door handle is peeling. i have cut myself several times when attempting to open or close the door. short term solution was to put tape on the handle or a band aid. i already have 6 cuts (just like paper cuts) it happens frequently. please investigate. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the driver, rear driver and front passenger's side exterior door handles were fractured and became detached from the vehicle. the contact indicated that the doors were unable to be opened from outside the vehicle. the vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer, who determined that the inside retainer screws had malfunctioned and caused the handles to break. the vehicle was repaired but the defect was recurring. the manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. the failure mileage was 82,000.
Outer door handles frequently break sometimes coming off completely. these handles provide best emergency access to small children in rear child safety seats. lack of reliable access posses significant safety risk. *tr
Dash is cracked and is a safety issues
Cracked dash above the instrument panel and around the passenger airbag. crack occurred over night in the garage, not moving and has had no accidents, never has been off road.
The dash has two cracks around the airbag housing and three other cracks (2 over 5" long). concern is mainly at airbag location as i am not sure if this affects the stability of the airbag, if the airbag will perform properly in a collision, or if the plastic pieces will become projectiles in the event of airbag deployment. *tr
I am the owner of a 2007 chevy tahoe. a few months ago i notice a crack in several places on my dashboard. the most visible crack was located next to the passenger airbag. i am afraid that because this crack is next to the airbag it may possible cause the airbag to deploy and cause serious injuries to a passenger or cause me to be involved in an accident. *tr
Dash is cracked on the drivers side starting from close the windshield towards the instrument panel. another crack on the passenger side starting from close to the windshield and continues on to where the airbag deploys. also peeled chrome on the inside of the driver and passenger side doors revealing sharp edges. i though these issue were a fluke. but, i am finding this is a recurring issue among many owners. *tr
The dash has major cracking around the airbag and on top of the dash in the area of the steering wheel. the first incident occurred in april 2010, had the dash replaced under warranty approximately sept/oct 2010. the second incident occurred in august 2012. same cracks in dash around airbag. i can't help but wonder if these cracks compromise the airbag in any way. or if the vehicle is involved in a collision will the dash pieces become airborne projectiles. have spoken with gm and while they acknowledge that they have had issues with the dash cracking, they do not acknowledge a defect in the dash. a simple internet search provides several instances of these same cracks occurring in many 2007 chevrolet tahoes, avalanches, and 2007 gmc yukons. yes, i could pay to have a new dash installed but it will be the same defective part that will crack again causing the same safety concerns. *tr
Cracked dashboard in 2007 chevrolet tahoe. large crack in corner to the left of the "hump" where speedometer, etc is located. smaller crack in the corner where the passenger airbag panel sits. contacted gm to report defect and they opted not to acknowledge this was a problem. concern is whether this defect will cause airbag to become unstable. will it deploy unexpectedly because the surrounding panel is compromised? i have located 20+ others on the internet who have complained of the same defect. *tr
I own a 2007 tahoe lt. the dash is crack above the speedometer and by the passenger air bag. my interior door latches are also peeling and are sharp enough to slice a finger. these problems seem to be pretty common and should be taken care of by gm. you wonder why customers decide to buy imports. customer service is a big part of repeat business. *tr
The chrome plating on the interior door handles peel and create sharp edges that cut and draw blood. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the front and rear driver and passenger's side exterior door handles were fractured. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vin was not available. the approximate failure mileage was 65,000.
Cracks on the dashboard above the steering wheel and the passenger airbag. the cracks over the passenger airbag could possibly be a hazard. this seem to be a common condition in the 2007 tahoe/yukon. we have contacted gm with no resolution to the problem. *tr
Peeling chrome off of interior door handles has caused cuts and bleeding. crack on dashboard adjacent to the front passenger air bag. broken driver's door exterior handle. *tr
Exterior door handle have broken on 4 separate occasions 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015. replacement door handle also broke.
I just read that the nhtsa is investigating the interior door handles on the 2007 tahoe. i have had this problem many times, and so has my wife. it's the seam where the two pieces of 'fake' chrome come together at the top of the door handle - think of a razor sharp piece of plastic every time you try to open your door. i took it into the dealer (john l. sullivan, roseville, ca) where we bought it and they said there was no recall and that there was nothing they could do - pretty typical of a dealership i find. so i've just been dealing with it; that and nasty cuts on my fingers. i finally took a razor and shaved the pieces down, but now the white plastic of the handle is exposed. it looks horrible. *tr
Interior chrome door handles on 2007 chevrolet tahoe pealing/flaking creating sharp edges that are capable of inflicting harm/injury to passengers. *tr
All 4 of my exterior door handles have come unattached on at least one end. this started before my warranty expired but continues to happen so i have to pay out of pocket. 2 that have been previously repaired by dealer have broken again. dealer quotes $300+ to make this repair, absolutely ridiculous and should be covered by gm. cant believe this has not been addressed yet as i am finding so many others with this exact problem. *tr
Peeling chrome coating on inside door handles has sharp edges that have cut hand hydraulics on back cargo door already out and i hardly ever use back door. *tr
The chrome plating on the interior door handles has peeled and caused small cuts to my fingers. checked with dealer and of coarse they are not aware of any other problems like this. *tr
I own a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the chrome is peeling from the interior door handles. the chrome is thick and i have cut my fingers while opening the door. the dealership reported they would not replace the items because of mileage, but it had been a common complaint for the 2007 model tahoe. *tr
My 2007 chevy tahoe developed cracks in the dashboard within the first 2 years i owned it. they started around 30,000 miles. i contacted the dealer at the time but was told that it wasn't covered under warranty since it was cosmetic damage. the cracks are much worse now and are on both the left and right sides including areas near the passenger airbag. i have never used cleaning products such as armor all and the vehicle has never been in an accident. cracks near the passenger could cause pieces of sharp plastic to break off and strike the passenger as a result of a collision.
2007 chevrolet tahoe lt3 dashboard cracked. cracked while driving on highway. -1 crack 10" long directly in front on steering wheel running from defrost vent towards driver. -3 cracks 6-8" long radiating outward from passenger side airbag towards center of dash and windshield. i'm afraid that if the tahoe is involved in a collision and the front airbags deploy, pieces of the dash will become detached, injuring the occupants. i have filed a complaint directly with gm, they replied that the crack dash is not a manufacturing defect (they never inspected the vehicle). i was told by a gm representative, if i was concerned for my safety, i should replace the dashboard in the tahoe at my own expense. many other individuals have posted photos/descriptions of the same issue with their 2007 tahoe/yukon on the internet. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact observed the plastic ring around the ignition switch detached from the vehicle. the contact mentioned that the dashboard was fractured on the driver side of the vehicle and the horn failed. the failure recurred continuously. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer or diagnosed. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 115,000.
2007 tahoe ltz has had 3 door handles break during the last 2.5 years of ownership. am finding this is a very common issue for the 2007 model year. door handles are approx $200.00 each to replace. can't anything be done by gm motors to make this right? *tr
5 cracks in vehicle's dash; 2 on driver's side, 3 on passenger side around airbag. started appearing last fall and gm was notified. informed by gm, without looking at vehicle, that it was not a manufacturing/product issue and my case was closed. *tr if passenger airbag deploys, the plastic dash will explode into pieces. dash has yet to be fixed.
My only complaint with the entire vehicle is the door handles, made of plastic. they have all broken off. this should not happen. *tr
The rear exterior door handles had broken off. it was originally repaired by a chevrolet dealer; however it broke again within a couple of months. it has since broken about 10 times and should be subject to a recall or a class action lawsuit. this was a $55k vehicle brand new when i purchased it in 2007. this is also a safety issue as people can break in. in addition, it's not safe for children to open the door as the handle separates from the body and pushes back in, possibly causing a child's hand to get caught in between the body and the underside of the handle. *tr
I have a 2007 chevrolet tahoe lt3 that the interior door handles chrome plating is sharp , especialy where it meets at the seam. i have cut myself several times on these handles( both drivers and passenger door handles are this way) door handles on a vehicle especially only 3 years old shouldnt fail like this. *tr
Outer door handles frequently break. lack of reliable primary safety entry to small children in rear car seats posses major safety issue. *tr
There is a crack at the passenger side airbag that appears to be unsafe in head on collision. if you reference chevrolet forums-tahoe website you will see 45 pages of failures and gm is very selective on whom they will replace or deny. *tr
My dash keeps cracking around the passenger airbag. these cracks may cause pieces of the dash to become flying projectiles in the event of an accident where the passenger or side impact airbag deploys. this has been a problem for me since 2009. gm is refusing to rectify the problem.
In our 2007 chevrolet tahoe the dash is cracked just above the passenger side airbag which could cause serious injury in a crash. the interior wiring must be faulty, the passenger window sometimes won't roll down from drivers side, but sometimes it will. also our battery mounts different than what is called for in automotive centers (top mount , not side) making it difficult to order proper battery for this vehicle. *tr
I have a 2007 chevy tahoe ltz. the chrome plating from the interior door handles are sharp and on occasion i have to be careful not to move my fingers over the area where the plating meets at a seam. i had a slight cut previously from them. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that dashboard was cracked across the air bag housing. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection who stated that the dashboard needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 75,000.
Outer door handles frequently break. lack of reliable primary safety entry to small children in rear car seats posses major safety issue. *tr
Side trim on doors faded badly and had replaced by dealer under warranty only to fade again within a couple of years and they are now coming loose from door panels. *tr
The dashboard has 2 cracks on it. one on the driver sides, towards the door, and one on the passenger side, in the middle, directly above the airbag. *tr
The dash cracked on the passenger side at the corner of where the passenger airbag deploys. approximately two weeks ago a larger crack appeared on the driver side dash above the instrument cluster. gm knows this is a rampant issue but fails to show integrity and take responsibility for the thousands of cracked dashes in tahoe, yukon, avalanche, sierra, and silverado trucks. *tr
There are 2 cracks in the dash. one crack is 2" long, near the passenger side airbag. the other crack is 7" long, driver side, "hump" above the instrument cluster. i have done extensive research on this problem to see if its an anomaly. it isn't. i am a member of a facebook group who has the exact same problem with their tahoes and similar models. please refer to this link for a visual http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ikscklf7g8&list=fljga62lgteuqumon7fzvc0q&index=40 please see facebook group below for more information and background as well https://www.facebook.com/groups/251892298253/ it would appear this is a manufacturing defect. the cracks are in the exact same location amongst hundreds, if not thousands, of consumers. i am worried the crack on the passenger side of the dash is a hazard if the air bag is deployed. the cost to replace the dash is between $1,000-$1,500. *tr
