Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe

I have a recall on my air bag and i want it fixed before it becomes a problem

Electrical problems resulting from burned washer fluid heater

My 2007 chevrolet tahoe will sporadically display two m.i.l. 's - service traction control and service stabilitrak. i have spent close to $4,000 on different parts, as well as having the heads completely rebuilt about 5 months ago. the only trouble codes it shows when hooked to a scanner are a p0300 (generic misfire detected) p0301 (misfire cylinder 1) and 0443 (evap emission control system valve circuit). after several months of research online, it is blatantly obvious that there are several thousand people experiencing the exact same issues. it appears there is no direct surefire resolution. but rather a common occurrence that is sometimes very labor intensive and extremely invasive to track down the specific problem. i have replaced the brake light control switch, added a secondary backup battery as well as additional positive and negative cables, replace the plugs, plug wires and ignition coil packs. it seems to be a recurring issue and at this point i have as much money invested in repairing the vehicle as i have spent purchasing it. i am not the type of person to sell this truck and let's have the misfortune of dealing with such issues but after several thousand dollars spent and discovering that it is a very common problem amongst chevrolet / gm suvs and trucks, particularly with the 5.3 l engine, i feel general motors should at least cover the expense of repairing it or let me trade it in towards a newer model with a sufficient credit applied. the issues i'm experiencing seem to happen when i am stopping or accelerating above 40 miles per hour. if i am simply cruising along at 25 miles per hour steadily and not accelerating or breaking, it doesn't seem to be as prevalent. but as previously stated, it is sporadic and continues to reoccur incessantly.

While driving my 2007 chev tahoe today, while in motion, the stabilitrak warning came up on my dash along with traction control warning. then the engine started struggling. i googled these problems and it appears gm recalled models from 2014 and 2015 with the same issues. they need to recall all impacted models. if this causes the engine to lose power, it could cause a dangerous situation.

Recalls on numerous gm vehicles for catching fire: the vehicle was setting in driveway for over 7 hours and neighbors were awaken by loud explosion and looked out and saw flames under the hood. they woke myself and my daughter up out of deep sleep and car was engulfed in flames. from front bumper to back cargo area total loss. fire department came but couldn't salvage the car. the garage door, garage entry door and downstairs basement were damaged ad possible replacement on them. there has never been any signs of over heating, or smoking, and any type of burning smells.

Instrument cluster malfunction. not showing the odometer or drive tree (prnd321) speed gauge is still working. seeing multiple issues with people sodering on the boards of cluster to fix this problem.

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the instrument cluster failed to illuminate without warning. also, there was a crack on the front passenger side of the dashboard near the front passenger air bag. the dealer was not called. the manufacturer stated that there was no recall for the instrument cluster and referred the contact to nhtsa. the contact was unaware of nets campaign number: (air bags) at the time the vehicle was purchased. the contact called sax motor co. at (701) 483-4411 (located at 52 st e, dickinson, nd 58601). the dealer confirmed that the parts were not available. the manufacturer was notified and was not able to confirm when the parts would become available. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was approximately 98,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.

No power on the driver side door (window, mirror, and lock)

Taillight/headlight malfunction

My car has been in the shop for 7 weeks. i've spent $6,000 having the engine rebuilt as there was cylinder 7 misfire. however, after all this i'm still getting the same error codes and they now believe its electrical and the whole car needs to be re-wired. when it broke down originally, it was in neutral in a car wash...

Tl* takata recall. the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the battery had been drained as a failure progressed concerning the air bags. the dealers (rosner chevrolet, 800 s harbor city blvd, melbourne, fl 32901, (321) 723-3611 and bob steele chevrolet, 2800 fl-520, cocoa, fl 32926, (321) 632-6700) were notified of the failure and provided no specific diagnosis. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. in addition, the contact obtained an onstar report to specify the diagnostic failure codes that flashed each time the failure occurred. the contact was unable to start the vehicle as the electrical shortage and the air bag failure progressed. the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). the manufacturer was notified. the approximate failure mileage was 218,000. vin tool confirms parts not available.

Defective instrument cluster - this gauge cluster has been notorious for being defective in a great many of gm vehicles. i had to pay out of pocket to fix the cluster in my 2005 tahoe because gm wouldn't fix the issue. that should never be the case. when these clusters fail they can lead to massive amounts of injuries due to improper readings which drivers depend on to make correct driving decisions. the u.s. government should mandate that any device placed into a vehicle which gives drivers information for which they depend on accuracy to operate that vehicle should be covered for replacement no matter the age of the vehicle as this is in its simplest terms a matter of safety. several phone calls and 1 trip to the dealership indicates this is a "wear and tear" stance the company is taking with this issue. i found out my cluster was defective when i received a speeding ticket when my gauge clearly indicated a proper speed limit on cruise control. the officer stated that i was going 17 mph faster than what was allowed. this was my first ticket so i was let off with a warning but to have my vehicle checked if that was to be my reasoning. defective devices such as this cannot be allowed to continue as the norm.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. while entering the vehicle, the contact noticed white smoke and flames from the rear passenger seat. the contact extinguished the fire. there were no injuries and a report was not filed. the vehicle was not taken to a dealer. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that while at a highway rate of speed, smoke entered the interior of the vehicle within the vents and dashboard. the area of the dashboard and vents erupted into flames as well as under the hood. a fire fighter extinguished the flames and report was filed. the contact sustained minor injuries to the face and hands with no further medical treatment. the vehicle was towed to a impound lot. the insurance company was notified of the failure. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.

Top of fuel pump rotting away and leaking fuel and fumes. led inst. cluster not working, unable to est, mileage or any engine info that is posted. not a moving part not relegated to wear and tear. should not have gone blank as odometer is a mandated item in a vehicle.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the instrument panel failed to illuminate as well as the lighting where the radio was located. the contact noticed an abnormal odor inside the vehicle through the air vents. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 155,120.

The digital information center (dic) located in the instrument panel cluster (ipc) has stopped working. however, all of the non-digital gauges such as speedometer, fuel, etc still work properly. all of the digital displayed info such as odometer, gear select, mpg, tire psi, etc, is no longer visisble. this defect/malfunction occurred unexpectedly about 4 months ago. the defect/malfunction occured while the vehicle was parked (not moving) in my driveway. i simply got in and turned the key on to start the engine, and the dic was noticeably blank. i looked on-line and called several dealerships for info regarding repairs,, and i quickly learned that this exact defect/malfunction is extremely common among 2007-2016 chevrolet and gmc vehicles. gm should be held responsible by issuing a recall. also, for no reason and without any cause, my dashboard cracked above the passenger side airbag. this is also a very common defect with my specific vehicle make/model. if the airbags were to deploy, would they deploy properly? and even if the airbags deploy properly, im afraid shards of the plastic from dashboard will shoot all over the car resulting in injury.

I been having problem out of everything for a while my lights on

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. without warning, the driver side electric control panel began smoking and caught fire. smoke entered the vehicle and then dissipated. the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign numbers: 10v240000 (electrical system) and 08v441000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available.

The vehicle has a faulty throttle body and throttle position sensor that cause the vehicle to go into "engine power reduced" mode which basically means the vehicle doesn't move. the engine is still running, but the vehicle is inoperable. this has happened to me dozens of times, in intersections, and i have to roll off the side of the road. additionally, the intake gaskets leak allowing fluid into the engine. the dash cracked. we have also replaced the air ride shocks (ltz model), the connector will wear a hole in the shock. we have also replaced broken motor mounts and tie rod ends. additionally, the vehicle was constantly running hot and we replaced the thermostat and radiator. the vehicle leaks oil and our mechanic said that it's the rear main seal that needs to be replaced.

Rear end went out at 150k. dash cracked near passenger airbag radio don't work if it's raining

Crack in the dash on drivers side. interior door handles have caused cuts to hands. service battery charging system light continues to come on. i have had the car serviced & mechanics can not locate the issue. seems to be an electrical malfunction.

I was driving down the road and i lost all power and all my lights came on on my dash i just about got hit from behind

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the vehicle was having electrical issues. the rear brake lights, power windows, and power door locks stopped working. the vehicle was taken to a dealer to be repaired where it was diagnosed that the bcm module needed to be updated along with the driver side door master switch. the failure mileage was unknown.

While driving or idling, vehicle displays error messages stating "reduced engine power", "stabilitrak system disabled" and "service traction control." the engine power reduces and the vehicle hesitates upon acceleration. it is difficult to get the vehicle to accelerate, especially in lower gears. sometimes the vehicle completely loses power in the middle of driving and all control of the vehicle is lost. this has occurred both on city streets and major highways. purchased the vehicle used about 5 months ago and it began doing this at after about two weeks of ownership. took it to a chevrolet dealership and they said the throttle body was sticking and needed to be replaced. the problem seems to be getting worse over the last few weeks. the vehicle is now stalling on a regular basis (about 1-3 times every time it is driven). the problem is worse when it rains a lot outside. i am afraid to drive the vehicle with my children inside because i have lost power on in the middle of a major interstate twice.

Door handles are peeling and caused my child to get a cut and bleed, lights on inside of the truck keep turning on and off seem spoke electrical shortage

Air bag lights came on and sensors need to be replaced i should not have to pay for this being it is a safety issue and it is defect on gmc part.

The power lift gate for my car is not working properly. it does one of several things, works correctly when it wants to. doesn't open at all when prompted, opens half way then shuts on its own, opens all the way and shuts on its own, or opens at random times when after just locking and securing the car. also when open and prompted to close with the button/s, it will either close, not close or close half way and re open. today my power lift gate decided to open suddenly on its own when i locked the car and stepped about 2 feet away, in just that moment a passing car in the parking lot was coming by and had to suddenly stop to avoid hitting my now raising power lift gate. need less to say he was inches from hitting the corner of the gate with the front windshield of his car.

My tire monitoring system went out and now my keyless entry remote does not work. this same thing has happened to my daughter's and her husband's vehicle that he drives for work and they are all 2007 chevrolet tahoes. this is quite an expensive repair and i feel that 3 people that own the same make model and year that something must be faulty.

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. while driving approximately 35 mph, the contact noticed a burning odor from the front of the vehicle. the windshield wiper fluid function failed and the radio continued to function after the contact shut the vehicle off. the contact was able to restart the vehicle, but the failures recurred. the contact also mentioned that the battery warning light would illuminate intermittently. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the vehicle was previously repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 10v240000 (electrical system). the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 110,000.

I have 3 issues . low power which read a lot of people have the same issue (bad torque converter).bad oil loss. which everyone seems to have .which the won't fix . transmission slipping which everyone is having and is not the transmission it's electrical. i was told to send a complaint in to you guys. i have read alot on this car and these are very common problems with the 07 tahoe and i have all 3. *tr

It was parked at the store parking lot and suddenly it was on fire it was totally destroyed the front, the seats and all the motor and nearest parts. *tr

Vehicle electrical system repeatedly shuts off while driving. loss of critical components that are required to control vehicle. no warning whatsoever... *tr

My 2007 tahoe sputtered and hesitated as i approached a stop sign. as i stopped stability control / traction control dashlights appeared as well as the check engine , they both blinked and dash read service stabilitrak, and service traction control. as i pulled from stop sign the tranny slammed into 2nd gear with a bang and i was barely accelerating pulled over and shut the car off. when i tried to restart it just turned over. it took a few tries to get it to start, and when it did i smelled a strong smell of unburned fuel from the exhaust. i will contact gm to file complaint as my tahoe has only 97k on it. hopefully it's covered by warranty. *tr

I was stopped at a stop sign when all the lights on the dashboard went out and smoke started coming out of the ignition switch. i turned the vehicle off and removed the key. the smoke stopped but the dashboard started making weird ticking noises. *tr

The odometer on these vehicles last just long enough to get out of the factory warranty and then they go out. mine went out with approximately 110k miles. with this portion of the instrument cluster not lit you can not see your odometer miles nor what gear you are in. by reading online i found that there are a lot of cases just like mine. gm needs to have a recall on this. it is not the consumers fault that gm has faulty equipment in these vehicles. thanks for your time and consideration. *tr

While driving on i-75 in florida coming from kentucky (relocating my mother in law), i and a friend who was taking a turn driving smelled an odor similar to sulfur or natural gas. within 10-15 minutes, smoke started coming out of the front driver engine compartment. driver immediately pulled to the emergency lane as a fireball exploded from the same area as the smoke. we both dove out of the vehicle on the passenger side. the entire vehicle with nearly all the contents burned, all the way down to the tires. *tr

Driver's seat belt does not lock into the receptive device. 2nd row seat belt "tore" when pulled to fasten. electrical issue causing speaker and microphone to become inaudible therefore preventing communication with onstar in the event of a crash, nor alerting driver of vehicle standard safety alerts (low gas, open door indicator, tire pressure indicator, etc.).

Smell of burning plastic in passenger compartment. windows, mirrors and door lock controls stopped working on driver door control panel. removed driver side door panel and discovered one of the plugs to the door controls was melted and discolored. unplugged. no fuses were tripped. *tr

I just bought this 07 chevy tahoe before 3 months ago, the problems start one by one, when the weather start hot the dashboard broken, dic light dead and rnd123 light too, now the gm dealer want more than a $500 to fix the cluster, i checked online and i found thousands of gm owners they have same problem, why gm don't do a recall on the message center light and the dashboard. *tr

2007 chevorlet 2007 tahoe ltz with 62k. i parked the car as usual and locked the doors using the remote. the next morning i went into the car and it smelled like smoke and something had caught fire. none of the driver side door functions worked. i removed the drivers side master switch and the wiring harness plug had burnt our and melted itself to the master switch. the short destroyed both the master switch and wiring harness the car did not trip any fuses in the process. this was a very scary situation considering the car could of completely caught fire in my driveway. there was no moisture in the vehicle when this incident occurred. i have pictures of the parts that burnt out. i brought the car to the dealer to have it inspected which said their was no recall for this vehicle. *tr

Oil consumption of at least a quart between oil changes, misfiring at idle causing check engine light, stability track control service light. chevrolet tells me there is not even 1 service bulletin or recall notice on my tahoe. *tr

I was on my way to work, driving approximately 55 mph and all of a sudden the "stabilitrak off", "traction control off", abs light, check engine light all came on, simultaneously. my speedometer and other gauges started swinging from left to right and then flatlined, my power locks, "locked and unlocked" . when the transmission shifted, the whole tahoe jerked. when i arrived at my destination i attempted to re start the car and it wont start. *tr

While vehicle was sitting still not running, not in use. vehicle was setting in my driveway, weather was around 45-50 degrees and the dash cracked in 3 spots, 2 spaces above the instrument cluster and one over the air bag area., i have did extensive research on internet and verified that there is several cases of this happening in this particuler make/model and year of vehicle. if there was an accident the material from the dash cracking could cause cuts/or extensive wounds by producing flying debis from the air bag going off since the dash is cracking over the air bags. i have contacted gm/chevrolet and had the vehicle inspected per their request, they didn't admit there wasn't a manufacturing flaw but they denied repairing the vehicle stating that i wasn't the original owner even though i bought gm dealreship. the service department where the vehicle was inspected verified the cracks in the dash and they were very large. *tr

At 90,000 miles, all of my rear bearings were bad and had to have them replaced, basically a whole new rear end. luckily it was covered under the 100,000 mile power train warranty. i have only towed a trailer twice with my tahoe, so obviously a defect somewhere. second issue is that there are 2 cracks on the dashboard; one in the area of the passenger side air bag, and the other on the backside of the drivers side steering column. these both occurred about the same time, around 100,000 miles. obviously this is a widespread issue. gm needs to be replacing these dashboards on their dime and not expecting the customer to foot the bill for this defective product. it is definitely a safety issue. should the airbag system have to deploy, pieces of plastic would become projectiles that would harm anyone inside the vehicle. the third issue i have, that began today at 109,000 miles, are involving the instrument panel. the speedometer did not work, the light that indicates which gear you are in did not come on, and the seat belt light and air bag light were on even though i was wearing my seat belt. i'm not sure what is causing this, and i'm hoping it is just a bad fuse. i am so dicouraged with my tahoe lately. all of these little things going wrong have really made me leary of buying another gm product, and i've been excited about the 2015 redesign. not so much now. *tr

While driving it he vehicle it shuts off, all of the gauges go to zero the power steering goes out and i am no longer able to accelerate until i restart the car. the lights inside and out go off and on . the doors lock and unlock continuously,. in the past year this has happened 3 or 4 times. *tr

2007 chevrolet tahoe lt, strong burning odor coming from the driver's door. parked vehicle, investigated problem, and initially could not determine a cause. the next morning, entered the vehicle with a strong odor of burnt plastic and light smoke in the passenger compartment. could not determine a cause. vehicle started up without any problems, appeared to be in normal running order, until i attempted to open the driver side window. the entire driver's master control module was not working. pulled the assembly apart to find the power connector to the module had shorted out and began to melt the module itself and the 6 pin connector, requiring replacement of master control module and entire wiring harness. the inside of the door did have evidence of incomplete combustion but snuffed itself out before it could progress further. the module and connector has soot - indicating combustion began to occur. mileage 120,000+/- *tr

Every thing electrical goes crazy every once in awhile, check engine, service tra, air conditioning, seats, brand new battery drains and more

The display cluster in dash has quit working, driver information center is completely out and the prnd is barely visible. seems to be a common occurrence on 2007 year model chevrolet tahoes. *tr

I recently experienced a known electrical issue for the first time yesterday. i just had my tahoe at the dealer last week for strange clacking noise under the hood. they stated i would just have to wait until it did it again. yesterday everything went haywire and my tahoe appeared possessed. door locks, gearing shifting was affected making it difficult to drive and steer due to loss of power steering, which could have caused serious risk to others around me and my two children in the car. turning to the internet and finding that i am one of what is probably thousands complaining of the same issue makes my extremely concerned that gm is not looking out for its current and future customers. i will be filing a complaint with the attorney general's office, ntsb and now with the state of nc immediately. not only have we dealt with this issue. we have long dealt with the oil consumption issue that gm continues to say is "normal" consumption. extremely disappointed in gm and how they are handling major component issues. we also own a jeep wrangler and they are been absolutely amazing anytime we have an addressable issue. *ln
