I have two cracks in my dashboard. one is huge over the drivers side control cluster and the second, i believe, poses a big safety concern. the second crack is at the corner of the passenger airbag. i'm concerned that the airbag will not deploy with this defect and if it does the sharp edges/shards of the dash will either injure the passenger and/or others in the car, or rip the airbag making it useless. airbags are a legal requirement. i have been on many forums and pages regarding the chevy tahoe and there are hundreds of people with this very same problem. i really believe gm/chevy should order a recall. i also have a minor claim about the rubber on the steering wheel and the paint on the stereo/climate control buttons. all of which is peeling off. i have also see hundreds of writings about this problem. we have already had to replace the steering wheel and stereo/climate control. and the problem persisted on the new items. i paid way to much for the vehicle to be doing this. i also have no intentions of getting a new car; however, as they problem persist, especially the safety issues. i just may be forced to . *tr
Cracks appeared on the dash around the passenger airbag and above the driver side instrument cluster.
Dashboard cracked at left corner of airbag as well as cracking above the left side of the instrument panel. the crack over the airbag concerns me in that my airbag may not deploy correctly in the event of an accident or may cause significant harm from chards of plastic. *tr
The dashboard on the passenger side around the air bag has cracked significantly and the area on either side of the air bag cover are bowing up. it appears that where is a significant risk of the dashboard fragmenting if the air bag were to be deployed. *tr
Exterior door handles - front passenger door, both rear passenger doors. bolt has broken on all 3 handles and has pulled away from the body of the vehicle. this seems to be a common occurrence for all gm vehicles with these style of exterior door handles. someone could fall and get injured will trying to open a door. *tr
Noticed cracks in dashboard. 1. above instrument cluster approx.6 " vertical to driver , 2nd is at the upper left corner of passenger air bag. safety concern is flying projectile (s) of dash plastic to driver and or passengers if air bag(s) are deployed. *tr
Dash around airbags is cracking and failing. it's a very common problem and gm refuses to rectify. conceivably a piece of dash could break off during an airbag deployment. *tr
Dash cracked where the passenger air bag is located. i fear that the air bags will puncture if deployed or the passenger will be injured due to dash pieces being projected at them. *tr

Dash cracked in three different spots
Multiple cracks in the dashboard
The r/f door handle caused a laceration to the passenger's hand. an inspection of the door handle revealed that the chrome plating is peeling at the mold seem, resulting in a razor sharp edge along the entire top of the handle. inspection of the other door handles revealed similar peeling that can cut anyone who comes in contact with the peeling metal plating. *js
The right side of my dash at the pass. air bag cracked about two inches well driving down i 95. *tr

Car has cracks in dashboard with loose pieces of plastic around airbag. worried that if the airbag deploys, pieces of sharp plastic could injure someone. *js
I was turning onto the street where my residence is located, making a right turn (passenger side), and i heard a very loud "pop" on the passenger side of the vehicle interior. upon pulling into my driveway, i activated the interior lights of the vehicle for further inspection. i discovered my dash cracked from the passenger side airbag down into the front defogger vent. i have researched this issue and it seems that it is quite widespread. *tr
There are two cracks in my dashboard around the airbag areas. this should never happen! wondering if it will affect my airbags from working properly. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the dashboard detached near the front passenger's side air bag housing. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 100,000.
My dash has cracked in 2 spots, it is obvious this is a manufacturer defect. my biggest concern is that the one crack that leads to the air bag cover...that could potentially open hitting my son in the face causing bodily harm. when i spoke to the dealership (bryan chevrolet) for replacement...i was informed that this was a common problem and would not be covered by my warranty. however, if i wanted replaced it would be expensive ($1000.00). bottom line, i got nowhere with them, now that one crack has grown to two cracks...and the other crack is on the left corner of the dash above the instrument cluster. i find it appalling that so many complaints have been lodged on various websites and still gm refuses to acknowledge and much less replace all these defective dashboards. i agree that there should be a class action law suit filed to make all affected parties whole in a retroactive manner. the gross amount of complaints clearly indicate that his not a frivolous complaint and gm should be held accountable. *tr
While vehicle was sitting still not running, not in use. vehicle was setting in my driveway, weather was around 45-50 degrees and the dash cracked in 3 spots, 2 spaces above the instrument cluster and one over the air bag area., i have did extensive research on internet and verified that there is several cases of this happening in this particuler make/model and year of vehicle. if there was an accident the material from the dash cracking could cause cuts/or extensive wounds by producing flying debis from the air bag going off since the dash is cracking over the air bags. i have contacted gm/chevrolet and had the vehicle inspected per their request, they didn't admit there wasn't a manufacturing flaw but they denied repairing the vehicle stating that i wasn't the original owner even though i bought gm dealreship. the service department where the vehicle was inspected verified the cracks in the dash and they were very large. *tr
My interior drivers side door handle has chrome peeling off and it sliced my finger while closing door. i have read that this has happened to lots of other people and wanted to report it. terrible design. *tr
So far, 3 of the 4 exterior door handles have broken for no apparent reason. these are cheaply made plastic, not designed to handle the force of simply opening a door. this car is otherwise in great condition, has very low mileage, and is usually only driven with one occupant. the passenger side doors have not been opened very often for a car with mileage in the low 40's. this would be dangerous to small children or people with thin fingers as it would be quite easy to get a finger caught between the broken door handle and the body of the car. the handles do not look broken. the act of opening the door causes the handle to pull away from the body of the door. a quick internet search reveals that this is a common problem with this vehicle. a dealer told me today that they replaced 8 handles for 1 customer. that's at a price between $250 and $300 per handle. i was going to begin looking for a new car today. if this is how chevrolet stands behind it's vehicles, they will not be included in my search. *tr
Dash cracked where the passenger air bag is located. i fear that the air bags will puncture if deployed or the passenger wil be injured due to dash pieces being projected at them. *tr
I got into my car at 1pm and found a crack above the instrument panel and another where the airbag should deploy on the dashboard. *tr
Gaping crack that runs into air bag area, the exact same as the thousands of people who have also had this issue - google search gm yukon and tahoe cracked dash groups. *tr
Door handles broke away. chrome door handles on passenger side (so far) have broken, both with the forward attachment (screw). chevrolet has a tsi on this. *tr
I am concerned about the safety during a collision or airbag deployment from sharp plastic exposed due to the cracks in the dash cutting the airbag or shards of plastic becoming projectiles potentially causing injury to occupants. the dash in the truck cracked out of no where and is very poorly made. this should be replaced asap by automaker. *tr
Exterior door handles break off; have replaced driver side rear (jan 2014) and passenger side front (feb 2014). appears that the plastic casing around the screw, which mounts the handle to the door, cracks and breaks. cost to repair is about $150 each time (door panel must be removed to replace). note - bought tahoe used july 2013. dealer where vehicle was taken for repair stated that this is a problem they see with this vehicle. *tr
1. lift gate failed and hurt my arm on or about jan 1 2014. i need repaired asap! 2. dashboard cracked above steering column and cracked by air bag passenger side. i need repaired asap. gm refused to acknowledge thousands of consumers having the same effects to their dashboard. 3. timing chain went off time and bent a cylinder which caused serious damage 9/2014 cost of damages at approximate 4500.00 gm refused to acknowledge deficiencies. i paid out of pocket the 4500.00 with no assistance. i also paid 250.00 for estimates at the gm dealer in kingston mass. they refused to help and give assistance on any of these 3 major safety problems after submitting the dealer bona fide report.
The dashboard has cracked on the passenger side above the airbag. i noticed this defect approximately 2 years ago. i keep it in the garage most of the time, out of the sun.
The interior door handle chrome is peeling which severely cut my daughters finger. *tr
I noticed a crack in my dashboard about 5 months ago. this crack is directly beside the passenger side airbag and is about 1-2 inches long. the opposite end of the crack (not connected to the airbag) has splintered off into more than just one crack. my concern is if the air bag is deployed, will this cause shattering and debris to fly into the face of my passengers and myself? *tr
2 exterior door handles have came off multiply times even after bring to dealer came off again a year later. interior door handles are chipping for my 2007 chevrolet ltz tahoe. *tr
Right rear passenger door handle came off of door. this is the second one to be replaced on this vehicle with around 52,000 miles. *tr
The dashboard is cracked in the top left corner of the passenger airbag. *tr

Dash cracked at corner of where the passenger air bag is located, and just recently the dash has cracked above the instrument panel. my fear is that in the event that the air bags are deployed the air bag itself might be punctured or bodily injury caused due to shards of plastic being projected into the air. i have owned numerous vehicles and have never had a dash to crack (i have lived in texas my entire life) can't blame it on the texas heat or use of armour all type cleaners. this is obviously a defective part. my suv is in pristine condition except for the dash cracks. *tr
My 2007 chevy tahoe ltz has developed cracks in the dashboard on the passenger and driver side. the passenger side crack is near the airbag deployment space and the driver side airbag runs from the back to the front of the dash. i am concerned about the airbag having difficulty deploying in an accident or pieces of the dashboard breaking away in it's current state that may turn into projectiles. *tr
There are dashboard cracks in my 2007 chevy tahoe. one of the cracks is 2? long, near the passenger side airbag. i have done extensive research on this problem to see if its an anomaly. it isn't. i am a member of a facebook group who currently has 250 members and have the exact same defect. it appears this is a manufacturing defect. the cracks are in the same location among hundreds, if not thousands of consumers. i am worried the crack on the passenger side of the dash is a hazard if the air bag is deployed. i can imagine shards of plastic causing serious injury to the passenger. the cost to replace the dash is between $1,000-$1,500. there are members of the facebook group who have had 3 dashes replaced because gm refuses to fix the defect. please refer to this youtube video where it shows the cracks on several gmc and chevy autos. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3ikscklf7g8 please see the facebook group for more confirmation and information on the defect. https://www.facebook.com/groups/251892298253/ currently the nhtsa has 98 complaints filed online relating to the dash cracks, but they have yet to initiate an investigation. http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/owners/searchvehicles also my service air bag light continues to come up and they tell me they cant find the problem and i asked if the crack in the dash on air bag affects that and they also replied they did not know that the code just says somewhere on the passenger side and now i will have to wait until something brakes. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet tahoe. the contact stated that the rear exterior driver's side door handle fractured upon engagement. the chrome handle pinched the contact's right finger. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and repaired. the manufacturer was not notified of the defect. the approximate failure mileage was 60,000. the vin was unavailable.
The outside door handles on the driver's side and passenger's side front both broke off. also, the chrome on the inside driver's and passenger's front is cracking off the door handles and i sliced my left hand pretty badly. considering this is a $55,000+ vehicle and there appears to be a lot of complaints about the same thing, there should be some sort of recall. *tr
My daughter who is six years was attempting to open the rear passenger side door when the handle came off the body of the car. *tr
Pass takata air bag recall with no part availability and multiple cracks in my dash
Vehicle dashboard began cracking on passenger side between defrost vent and passenger-side air bag. then it cracked above the gauges on the driver's side, which now has started running toward driver. my concern is that the entire dashboard will shatter if either of the air bags explode. this seems to be a very common issue among 2007 gm tahoes, suburbans and yukons. the local dealer will not acknowledge that this is affecting vast numbers of vehicles. *tr
Exterior door handles keep breaking. no recall. local dealers say this is very common with this model and similar vehicles. gm told me to make a complaint here in addition to them. *tr
