There is a recall for my vehicles brakes, i have attempted to have this serviced as my brakes completely went out on me while driving my children this morning, i spent hours on the phone trying to get de luz to understand that i cannot safely drive my vehicle on the road as my brakes do not work correctly.. i was told that they only help i could get was if i drove my truck 80 miles to the nearest dealer where i would probably end up stranded as they also would not cover any rental vehicle. not to mention, after calling this authorized dealer directly, they had informed me that they would not be able to schedule my service for at least 3-4 weeks from now. this is unacceptable. i have a valid and verified recall for a safety hazard and my only option is to "drive it and try not to crash (with my children- and then figure out my own ride 80 miles back to my home and then be car-less for who knows how long??)
I was driving down the road, gave it gas to go around a vehicle and it felt like the vehicle shut down. esc caution, check engine light, and brake warning/caution all illuminated. vehicle began to slow down drastically and if i hadn't gotten off the road quickly i would have been hit. if i had been turning into traffic from a stop and that happened i would have been hit. pulled the vehicle over, turned it completely off, removed the key, restarted the vehicle and everything went away except the check engine light. headed to the dealership and again i gave it some gas and it did it again. pulled over, turned off/on and same results, everything cleared but check engine light. if this were to happen on the interstate this could cause a major incident. i was on a city street on both occasions. i had to nurse the gas pedal returning to the dealership which was about 7 miles from the initial incident. the vehicle is a 2020 chevy silverado 1500 with the 2.7l turbo engine.
Brake system failure light, steering assist reduced drive no faster than 62 mph service trailer brake, service esc. brakes went to the floor and did not want to stop.
Truck was recalled due to braking issue, took in and had recall performed. after recall brakes failed, took it back to dealership. returned for pickup and brade pedal went to the floor. left it again for repair. picked it up after this and within a few days of getting the truck back from the dealer the brakes failed and we were involved in a crash. we were unable to stop and hit another vehicle. significant damage. the vehicle was moving along a roadway and when another vehicle suddenly pulled in front of our vehicle the brakes were applied and failed causing us to crash.
Tl* the contact owns a 2019 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact whom was the passenger called on behalf of the driver her spouse, stating that the driver depressed the brake pedal however, the vehicle failed to stop in a timely manner. the contact stated that the abs warning light illuminated as the vehicle rear ended another vehicle. the contact stated that no injuries were sustained in either vehicle. a police report was not filed. the vehicle was towed to marlin chevrolet buick gmc inc. (2145 rue frank-carrel, qubec, qc g1n 2g2, canada) where the engineers at gm was contacted and informed the dealer to replace the brakes. the contact stated that the dealer was awaiting parts for the repair. the contact stated that prior to travelling to canada the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 19v889000 (service brakes, hydraulic, service brakes, electronic stability control) at quirk chevrolet of bangor dealer, (293 hogan rd, bangor, me 04401). the approximate failure mileage was 71,000.
After parking for about 20 minutes, started the truck and the abs brake light came on. a warning on the screen said something to the affect...brake above 62 miles failure. engine light came on. i started driving and noticed no brake pressure. pressed brake hard, all the way, then truck started to slow down. luckily there was nothing in front of me or i would have hit it. i checked for break fluid leak under the truck, no leaks. i opened the hood, no leaks noted. i turned off the truck. waited a minute and started it again. same thing...no breaks. break warning lights came on again. i finally called a tow truck for repair.
When i went to start the vehicle 'service brake assist", 'trailer brake malfunction (no trailer attached) and "service ecs" warnings illuminated on the instrument panel. i acknowledged the codes and was driving away and the brakes didn't work. i had to stand on the peddles to stop. the check engine light came on also. i restarted the vehicle and the brakes worked but the check engine light has stayed on. only have ~8000 miles on vehicle.
I was driving down the interstate when traffic began to build up. as i tried to slow down i noticed an extended delay in stopping. no warning lights came on at this point and i continued to drive. i then exited the interstate and stopped at a local grocery store. i started my vehicle back up and began driving to school. i was driving around 40 mph and it was then that my vehicle alarm went off and screen advised that my brakes had failed. i could not stop my vehicle and had no brakes. i then pushed the pedal all the way to the floor board. my truck slowed enough for me to get it into my school's parking lot. i then engaged the emergency parking break and notified roadside assistance.
Parked in drive way started truck and message popped up saying dont drive over 60 and lights on dash.break peddle also hard to push.
Turned on truck and got multiple messages, "service esc" and "brake system failure - speed limited to 62 mph." braking was extremely limited - even at hardest effort, truck struggled to come to a complete stop. truck has 6700 miles and also brake pads are reporting 14%/18% life left which is innacurate based on amount of driving.
