I was driving on i-16 running about 65 mph all of a sudden l hear something like a cannon going off. my truck started weaving it took all i had to stay in control. i was finally able to get to the side of the road looking in my rear view mirror seeing a big transfer truck coming my way trying to dodge the huge piece of tire that came off my truck. i finally was able to get out because of the traffic. the back left side of my truck was all crunched in where the tire had beaten it to death thank the good lord i was ahead of the traffic so they had time to slow down. it was a bfgoodrich lt.287 75 r16 t/a k/o. i've been doing some research and finding out this is happening a lot with this tire why on earth has bfgoodrich not put a recall on this tire because of the complete tire separation. i am deathly afraid of the other 3 tires on my truck now. these tires are not cheap by any means. *tr

Tire failure due to ply separation. 50% of my tires experiencing this problem. one failure was catastrophic, resulting in damages to the truck. this event could and has caused injury and death for others who have experience this type of failure. tires have about 20,000 miles on them and proper inflation and recent balance. *tr

We had a flat on our 2004 silverado truck and we were unable to detach the spare tire to replace the flat tire on the truck. it is way too complicated to remove the spare tire and fortunately for us it happened while we were at work in the middle of a snow storm so we were able to pull it into our heated garage to attempt the repair. we let it warm up overnight and attempted to remove the spare tire the next day. even in a 70 degree heated garage in dry conditions we could not remove the spare tire. i think this is an extreme safety issue if this happened in the middle of a busy interstate or in the middle of the rural countryside in winter or rainy weather if someone attempted to remove the spare tire. the parts rust from exposure and the mechanism to release the tire fails to work. from talking to two tire dealers each said that they had to cut the wires holding the tire in place with a blow torch to even remove the spare tire. i also believe there is a false sense of security that you have a spare tire on this vehicle if there is a flat tire. this has been an issue for years each tire dealer said and chevrolet has never addressed this issue. i just imagine a 16-18 year old young man who is stranded on the side of the road struggling to fix this issue being seriously injured fighting to remove the spare tire. this is 2012 and they can't find a better way to secure a spare tire on a pick up? *tr

I am filing this complaint about greendiamond tires of ny. i worked there 2 1/2 years and was let go because i spoke out about the poor quality of the tires being built. there have been numerous tires that have had catastrophic failures, resulting in the company covering them up by paying for damages done to vehicles. i have in my possession several tires with these defects. i told management about the numerous problems with the tires and my position at the company was eliminated. they continue to sell and ship these tires with no concern for consumer safety, even after they themselves checked and gauged these tires only to find the sidewalls, top rubber and casings used in the build process to be faulty. please investigate this company before someone has a fatality driving on these tires. i myself had a tire explode on a company truck on the highway and was barely able to control the vehicle. *tr
