Service engine light has been on for so long the light has burned out. not having the time to get it checked out, today i went to auto zone to have a code reading on my 1999 chevy silverado 5.3l. the code indicated the abs control module all speed sensor failure. they indicated to me there was a recall on this part that no one knows about. the told me instead of me buying the part and paying to get it fixed, to see if this is on recall and have the dealer fix it for free. as i see on here, this is a recall part. can you please advise me on how i can get this fixed? i have called a couple of chevy dealerships and they said they couldn't help me. *tr

I was driving on my way home from work going 45mph when i saw a car a short distance ahead pull out onto the road. i tried to apply my brakes as the car ahead did not reach the speed limit fast enough. my brake pedal went straight down to the floor and all braking ability was lost. i lifted my foot to try to apply the pedal again and again the pedal went straight to the floor. i nearly crashed into the car ahead of me and had to swerve off of the road to avoid causing an accident. it was only after a long distance of riding on the shoulder and downshifting that i was able to come to a stop. only just as i was stopping did the brake light and abs light illuminate on the dash. i had no warning that this was going to happen or that i had lost my brakes, other than the pedal going to the floor. before this, the brakes worked perfectly. had i not had the room to swerve out of the way, i would have been in a potentially lethal accident and one or more lives could have been lost. *tr

Rear passenger door locks will not operate making it almost impossible to exit the vehicle quickly inthe event of an emergency. the steering is very sloppy at speeds above 30 mph. at higher speeds the vehicle will wonder all over the road making it very hard to operate safely. *tr

I was pulling ip to a stop sign and my throttle stuck and i had no control to stop it and a guy hit me in the front end where all the sensors to my airbags were and they never deployed and the guy was going 95 mph when he hit me. *tr

I have had nothing but trouble with rotted rotors, pads that don't wear right, brake lines that rotted and rusted away that they needed to be all replaced in july of 2006. a six year old motor vehicle should not have to have all the lines replaced. the bill was $1,200. next a abs front wheel sensor recall was done at best chevy, hingham, mass. the abs lights came on and off at their own pace. i had new front bearings installed, had my mechanic check for codes. nothing. the brakes just never felt right sometimes. i worked as a auto mechanic for nearly 25 years, never seen anything like this brake problem. by the way i took good care of my vehicle, gm must of used sub standard brake tubing, never seen anything so decayed after 6 years. on april 29, 2011 i was driving home and had stopped at a traffic light about 1/4 mile from my home. the light turned green, i accelerated up to about 30 mph and within a few hundred feet the abs light came on. here we go again. as i neared the entrance to my street some 300 feet away , i took my foot of the gas and the truck began to slow. at about 200 feet i began to depress the brake pedal, it seemed ok but as i got nearer to the street i found myself needing to push down more and more. i was at 15 mph and ready to begin my turn and felt something was wrong. my left front tire had begun to lightly skid. the pedal went to the floor, was down at about 10 mph and before i could get my left foot onto the emergency brake and apply it, the left side front of truck struck a tree. the road is a private way and very narrow there. no air bag deployment, didn't damage the truck too much but it hit right on the tow hook and kinked the frame. i had my mechanic bring his analyzer to my home and it informed him that the control module had failed. i've spent good money after bad on those brakes and i demand the nhtsa do something. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 1999 chevrolet silverado 1500. the contact stated that the vehicle suddenly accelerated while the brake was depressed. the failure also occurred while in reverse. the failure was experienced several times intermittently, but had become a permanent failure. the brake had to be depressed with force and the gear had to be placed in neutral in order to stop the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic and a diagnostic test was performed. the mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 175,000.

Throttle body sticking at low speeds throttle sticks until pedal is pushed beyond desired point causing vehicle to surge forward. i hit garage wall. exact problem occurred at 30,000 miles, dealer replaced throttle body(bad bushings) under warranty. *jb

The abs pump started running when i started the truck the only way to get it to stop is to pull the fuse. the power window on driverside will go down a little then stop, you have to keep pushing on the button to get it all the way down which takes a lot of time, same way when you go to put it back up. the throttle sticks when you go to accelerate, did it a little new now does it a lot. i have contacted gm they said that the truck is to old know for them to do anything about it. i have heard that other owners have had the same problems but theres occured while under warranty

When pressing the gas pedal it is really hard and won't go down, then, consumer states unexpectedly gas pedal will go to floor from all pressure, and vehicle goes flying. consumer contacted dealer, and dealer said throttle body needed servicing.*ak

Accelerator pedal hanged up, and consumer had to jump on the accelerator for vehicle to move. did not know if it was going to take off suddenly or take off slowly. consumer felt it was a safety hazard.*ak
