Purchased wind deflectors for front and passenger windows for chevrolet suburban 1999 ls from mcneil automotive products, 1 mcneil court, bolingbrook, il 60440 (phone 1-630-769-1500, fax 1-630-769-0300). front right window deflector separated from car after a month of driving and crashing to the ground missing the motorcyclist behind me. shipped 1/27/13 installed week of 2/4/13 drove at speeds up to 80 mph on ih 130 with windows closed and up to 55 mph with windows open or cracked. weather was good during that period in central texas for driving with open windows. right front wind deflector departed car 3/8/13 on mopac south access road just north of duval. i was in the right lane and luckily the deflector fell on the curb and gutter and did not hit the motorcycle behind me. removed the left front wind deflector for safety. complained to mcneil automotive products on 4/5/2013 via phone. connection was not clear, believe the persons first name was [xxx]. she claimed that i had not installed the part correctly. i countered that the part would not have survived a month on the window at the speeds it was subjected to if not installed correctly. she indicated that they would send me new front window deflectors, they never arrived. that was probably because i made it crystal clear that i was going to complain to you if it happened again. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr
Many complaints with this vehicle may get long but i am not sure as where to send them all.#1 window regulator failed three times, the first time i had to pay the full amount to get it fixed as the company recommended by the dealer went bankrupt before the warranty was up, i was never contacted about this. #2 broke two more, times dealer picked up cost on the second time but not on the third time the window is taped up as the dealer said they won't fix it as the 1 year warranty was up. anti lock sensor was only cleaned and is still acting up truck lurches after stops. dealer said that they probably won't do anything as they already cleaned the sensors. the truck was purchased used and i did not notice the bed on the truck had been repaired. it looks like it sits a little lower now on one side the service rep said there were spot welds where there shouldn't be but wouldn't comment beyond that. *tr
I have a 1999 chevrolet silverado lots of fuel problems the gauge fluctuates and the pump is shot again. and also have put 3 window regulaters in drivers side and 1 in passengers side. have friends with the same truck and same problems. *tr
Windshield wipers fail intermittently or wont work at all. *nm
Antilock brake illumination on panel goes on and off for no apparent reason. brakes, rotors and drums were checked, various other problems include, water pump replaced, starter replaced, radiator replaced, heater core problems, alternator replaced, certain illumination lights on radio come on. *nm
Window motor regulator has malfunctioned. dealer has been notified, and stated that this was a common problem. *ak consumer states that sloppy driver side window failed, dealer found cable had come out of motor/ regulator assembly and consequently wrapped around the motor/regulator. there was no offer of warranty repair since truck is over the mileage covered. *yd
The abs pump started running when i started the truck the only way to get it to stop is to pull the fuse. the power window on driverside will go down a little then stop, you have to keep pushing on the button to get it all the way down which takes a lot of time, same way when you go to put it back up. the throttle sticks when you go to accelerate, did it a little new now does it a lot. i have contacted gm they said that the truck is to old know for them to do anything about it. i have heard that other owners have had the same problems but theres occured while under warranty
After leaving home fri. morning, i turned on my rear defroster switch. shortly after, there was a burning smell from in the vehicle. a minute later i heard a pop and looked in my rear view mirrow to see my rear glass totally shattered. both my children were in the rear seat, a 7month old facing the window and a 3 year old facing forward. i stopped immediately to make sure no glass was on them. when i closed the door my glass fell out. because of the smell and that i had just turned on the defroster, i felt like the rear defroster had to be the cause. i had my dealership call gm and they said the defroster couldn't have done that. i also told the dealership that i recently had a cellular antenna installed and he mentioned that to the gm rep who said that that wouldn't affect it. i specifically asked the installer at the cellular co. if the antenna would affect my defroster and he said no. upon inspection of the antenna you can see that the defroster had burned the two sided tape on the antenna. it must have got hot enough to bust the glass. it had the same burnt smell as was in the vehicle. a call to gm customer service on 10/1/01 was made. glass could have easily landed in one of my child's eyes. why did this happen and how can it be prevented. if the cell companies are improperly installing antennas over defrosters and it's creating a hazard, someone needs to be aware of this. if this is something gm could prevent, they need to check into it. please respond to me
