Recently reported STEERING problems on 2001 Chevrolet S-10

Our abs light keeps coming on and when it does the abs don't work. it comes on whenever it wants. it is the same issues as the 2000 are having and they have a recall. it recently caused the back wheel not to move at all. we were told the spring inside the module is going out. it also affects the air bag from going on. also, the ignition won't work the truck won't start. it takes several tries to get it to start. we were just told that it's the starter. the seatbelt locks intermittently and won't let me move. *tr

While traveling on i85 at 70 mph in the far left lane passing a car i hit the rumble strips on the shoulder and the truck lost all power. i was able to move to the shoulder on the right side of the road. thinking i would not be able to restart the car to my surprise the car started back and i took off. i forgot about this until i recently heard of recent recalls. *tr

Ball joints are loose when installed. reported by dealer to be within chevy specs. the same problem with the tie rod ends. cant keep the alignment right with this spec. dealer will not warranty.

Consumer states while driving the vehicle, the vehicle started making a cracking noise. the consumer states that the vehicle no longer had any brakes and the steering wheel was stuck. dealer notified. ts

Consumer states vehilce vibrates excessively from the undercarriage. dealer diagnosed problem as defective 4x4 gear box. dealer advised consumer there is no fix for the problem, but only modification to reduce vibration. ph

Consumer states that while driving and without warning there is a loud clicking noise coming from the steering wheel when the consumer is making a turn causing a distracting to the consumer. dealer notified. mr

While sitting in car can't turn steering wheel, while driving vehicle stiffens and it's hard to turn. consumer states if on a highway it could be dangerous.*ak

While stopped and with foot on brake steering becomes impossible. while leaving interstate and slowing on ramps, steering becomes stiff and increasingly harder to handle. dealer replaced power steering pump and problem was fixed for approximatley 3-4 days. however problem is increasing as before pump was replaced.*ak

When driving at highway speeds of 65 mph, and hitting a bump vehicle will veer to left or right. hard to control. took vehicle to dealer, who lined up front end and adjusted gear box, did not remedy situation. *ak before repair was done, the steering wheel was rigid, but after the service it became very loose. *yh
