At first the car would not turn over when trying to start, happened when using key in ignition as well as using the remote starter, this was random. would run fine for days, sometimes for a week, then it won't start. also as the weeks went by while idling at a red light, the car just quits running, couldn't get it started, after several tries, it starts (thankfully). also happened while in park, car just stops. also while driving on the interstate the car all of a sudden will not accelerate, press on gas pedal...nothing. until today after a few seconds and the car suddenly starts to accelerate. engine light came on few weeks ago, stated it was the cam shaft position sensor ($120.00), therefore we replaced both sensors. no change! oh we also replaced the fuel injector sensor in the back. husband read someone else had the same problem and he recommended hitting the box in the trunk (where the fuel sensor is, etc) and your car will start up. sure enough, the next time my car wouldn't start, i hit that box a few times, and car started. ...
The heating system has an exhaust smell coming thru the vents when in use once car is warm. it seems to happen when the control setting is on panel. doesn't seem to happen in defrost setting. have to crack window to get fresh air when in use because it has caused my wife to get light headed while driving. i have had it into the local chevy dealer twice to be told there is nothing wrong with it. *tr

My car will not start. it turns over but won't start. battery is fully charged, gas tank full, wiring is good, spark plugs are brand new, just won't start and i don't know why. *tr
I was slowing down at a very busy intersection, traveling at about 10mph. suddenly the car started to shake violently and when i pressed on the gas as traffic started to move again, the car would barely crawl forward. the reduced engine power light and traction control light came on. i managed to pull into a parking lot and turned the engine off. i turned it back on and the same problem occurred. again, i turned the engine off and on and this time the car seemed to drive as normal, however the check engine light remained on. i'm just happy that i wasn't traveling at a higher speed and that no one hit me from behind when this occurred. i have read on chevy forums that many people are having the same problems. hopefully chevy can find an answer to this problem before someone gets seriously hurt. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the heating became inoperable without warning. as a result, the defroster failed. the vehicle was taken to the dealer. the technician stated that the vehicle was operating as designed. the failure recurred and the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the thermostat needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v567000 (visibility). the failure mileage was 30,000.
My engine light was on and after i repaired that issue, was told that my catalytic converter needs to be replaced. the maintenance guy found a letter stating 2008 chevrolet malibu was being recalled for faulty catalytic converter. however, when i entered my vin number on gm's recall site my 2008 chevrolet malibu wasn't listed. the letter is extending the warranty on the converter for 10 years or up to 120,000. i wanted to know if there is someone at gm that i can contact directly regarding this situation. please advise best regards *tr
I drive a chevrolet malibu 2008 with just a little over 56,000 miles. i was sitting at a red light and all the sudden there was a loud noise & the car vibrated a little. one of the fans completely broke apart and the pieces flew into the radiator embedding them into the radiator. so from this i had to have my car towed to a repair facility and they had to install a new radiator & fan. the service tech could no reason for this to have happened to my car. *tr
I went to get air in tire. got back in my car and started it up. it started shaking real bad and engine light came on , check engine light came on, and a thing about loss of power. i was only 5 minutes from home so i went back home. it wouldn't get over 25 miles an hour. i called edward chevrolet in birmingham,al. they told me to get car to them but not drive it. they called me back and said it wasn't under warranty. i don't even have 100,000 on it. i read on line other people had this problem but they say it's not on recall. why? how many people have to die or children? i didn't read of any deaths just almost. i can't believe people have to die to get something done. i was lucky and not far from home. it could have stopped on me in middle of road. i've never got any recall notices. i told the lady at edwards chev. the same thing. *tr
While driving my 2009 chevy malibu, i abruptly got a warning message on my dash board which contained the phrase engine power reduction at which time my car completely shut off in the middle of a busy highway. the car had no response even though all the battery operated items were working the car still would not turn over. after further research it has come to my attention that a large group of individuals have had this happen and this error message come up.
