Driving on the highway and battery charging system and stability track error msg showed up. car completely shut off and had to be towed.
I have a 2013 malibu lt with 52,000 miles on it. last month on the 20th of november service power steering warning started to flash on the information system. when that happens my doors would lock and my car would stall. however; unlike most other consumers who are having this problem my steering wheel didn't get tight and i did not lose control of my car. i could not do more than 40mph and sometimes if i hit a bump in the road service power steering would come on and the doors would lock and the car would stall and then go back to normal. i took my car in to genesis chevrolet to see what the problem was. they had my car for about a good 4 to 5 hours. they then came and informed me that they could not find anything wrong with my care because, no codes where popping up and the mechanic tried 4 times but could not duplicate the situation i was having. it is now december 11th and i am still having the same problem. i just drove to work today and went to make a right turn down the street leading to my job the service power steering flashed again ,the car stalled ,and the engine light came on. this time the car slowed all the way down until it came to a complete stop. even though my car had come to a complete stop it was still on and running. my radio still worked my heat was still on and i still could shift my gear shift. i put the car in park turned it off for about a minute and then started it back up. when i started it back up the engine light had gone off and i was able to accelerate my car and pull into the parking lot of my job. *tr
While at a stop light on a very busy city street the engine stopped running and the car shut off. my foot was still on the break and the car was in drive. i put the car in park then restarted the car and it started running like it should, there was no warning lights displayed before, during, or after this happened. in another incident while i reversed the car the engine shut off without any warning lights, i had to put the car in park again and restart it to get the engine running again.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. while driving 70 mph, the vehicle completely shut off without warning. the contact was able to coast the vehicle off the highway and attempted to have the engine jumpstarted. once the vehicle was jumpstarted, the vehicle experienced total electrical failure. also, the key would not eject from the ignition switch. the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who stated that the battery was drained. the mechanic charged the battery. while driving home, the failure recurred as the contact pulled into the driveway. after the failure occurred, the check engine warning indicator flashed. the contact called hall chevrolet buick gmc (385 w dallas st, canton, tx 75103, 903-567-8148) and was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle and no further assistance was offered. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 129,000.
Both the transmission and engine went out at the same time. i took it to apple valley motors in martinsburg wv, a chevy dealership. they contacted the third party warranty company (portfolio) and they made the dealership replace the transmission with a junkyard transmission. but when i took it in the check engine light was on and i assumed that it was on because of the transmission. but also assumed that because it was a dealership with special trained technicians that they would check all the codes and clear them before they returned the vehicle to me. well they didn't and the check engine light was still on when i picked it up but thought maybe i had to drive it a couple miles to reset the light. well the light did go out but came back on about a week later and when i took it back to the dealer they called the warranty company and they said that because now that the extended warranty that i had, expired 8 days prior that there is nothing they can do. i called both gm and chevy and explained the situation and neither one will assist me with the problem only because the power train warranty expired even though i have less than a 100k on it. they gave me a case number but in the end they said there is nothing they can do. no way should both the engine and transmission go bad at the same time especially with less than 100k on it. this is in addition to another complaint that i just filed with you regarding the car loosing all power while i am driving. that problem happened on both the highway at over 70 mph and in the city at slower speeds. in addition to the transmission and engine going ou, 30 days prior the hydrolic transmission lines blew out while i was on the highway and i had to have it towed and it cost me about 900.00 out of pocket because it was was not covered by the warranty.
Generator control module- engine is stalling and completely shutting off when stopped or slowing down at intersection or stopped at lights or stop signs. switching from hybrid to gas
19 august 2019 on this day twice i experience loss of power on the vehicle and power steering. luckily i did not hit any cars. was driving below 35 mph the first incident is when i came to a red light the radio turn off first then the car felt sluggish and the engine shut down lost control of everything and was coasting. vehicle gain power by it self and resume operations. during every light i stop it felt like it wanted to lose power. came to a parking lot driving around 5 mph completely the car shut off first radio and then whole vehicle this time it did not gain power by it self. had to place the vehicle in park turn the key off and restart it was able to park it. after reading here seems a lot of people are having this issue an immediate investigation should be open because this can possibly happen in the highway if i lose control power in the power steering i could potentially crash of get hit by a car . call gm and they said they do not have a bulletin ask them for an address to submit a formal complaint and was given one. i don't think gm cares hopefully you guys can look into the issue and get and answer as to why is happening consumers should not have to pay a diagnostic fee and not get answers
Using turn signal or power windows the vehicle dies and quickly restarts. all power is lost momentarily. happens when battery voltage is below 13.5 volts. loss of power steering almost caused an accident twice. it was not wet out or raining, had been dry for several days so weather does not seem to be triggering the issue. service stabil trak warning also flashed in and cleared upon power disruption.
Was driving along about 35 mph when car suddenly shuts off and power steering is gone causing me to almost go off the road. very dangerous please make the recall public.
Car was jerking while accelerating happened for about 5 mins then check engine light came on
The timing chain in the engine is bad and there is a loud noise. the car shuts down at a stop and will not always restart. also the gps/radio screen started going off and on and then completely went dark.
Car shuts off completely while driving. electrical system is sporadic then shuts down.
The a/c blows out hot air. since i've been consistently blowing it or trying to because it is summer, my car starting jerking. it might work every now and again. sometimes, once i'm slowing down and the air is supposedly blowing, my car cuts off on me while i'm in drive. this has happened while parking the car as well as coming to a stop at a red light or stop sign. i needed to defrost my windows, it cut off on me a red light.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. when the contact attempted to start the vehicle, the key turned in the ignition; however, the vehicle did not start. the vehicle was jumpstarted and driven to an independent mechanic who determined that the camshaft failed and needed replacement. the vehicle performed normaly for a week, but later would not start again. the vehicle was taken to the same independent mechanic who determined that the variable valve timing intake and exhaust failed and needed repairs. the vehicle was repaired both times. the mechanic also stated that the wiring on the battery was done improperly. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 89,080.
The car was in motion on a city street, my daughter was slowing down coming up to a red light. before she stopped the air conditioner stopped blowing then the car turned off. she put it in park and was able to turn it back on. this is the second time it has turned off on its own, the first time it was when she put it in reverse to back out of a parking space.
When driving my malibu it seems to have a short circuit when i turn the wheel even the slightest. i have changed the batteries checked all the wires and everything seems fine. i have figured out even when i'm driving 70mph on the highway with my family in the car the power steering will go out and make it hard for me to even turn. i have read online that this is happening to malibu's everywhere and that gm is not willing to make it a national recall because it must be happening while they see the car. so i guess i have to wait for me to crash? to see that the power steering gave out on me along with the rest of the electrical work on the inside of the car.
While pulling into a parking space in our 2013 chevy malibu with my foot on the brake, when about 1/2 way into the space i experienced an unintended acceleration by the vehicle. this caused me to crash into a bollard in front of the convenience store causing severe damage to the front end of the car. the air bags did not deploy, causing me to hit my head on the steering wheel. *dt add cpsc *js
3/19/19 i went in for an oil/filter change and a "premier engine oil service" (which was explained as a engine flush to my wife). saturday my check engine light activates and i put a code reader on and a p0010 (intake camshaft position actuator solenoid control circuit). after researching i saw this has been a recurring problem on other malibu models but did not see anything for my vin, should i handle his on my own or refer back to the dealership to determine if this is their error?
The oil vacuum pump burst open causing a major oil leak. no prior oil leaks or damages to vehicle.
If the key is removed without the transmission in park, the vehicle may rollaway as occupants are exiting , increasing the risk of injury
Expressway.the radio blacked out, stopped playing and then the car started shutting down-everything!steering went out, radio, lights, blinkers, etc.i took it as slow as i could all the way home and got onto back roads.this proved to be even more hazardous-every time i turned the steering wheel it would start to shut down again & again, all the way home.i took the car to the dealer-fixed but now happening again.sometimes it happens quickly and recovers quickly enough that the engine is not involved.my warning sign is that the radio cuts out and the screen goes blank.that's when i know to prepare myself. sometimes that is all that happens.other times it's major! i look for an escape route-can i get off the road quickly, are there other cars around me, brace both hands on the steering wheel, slow my speed and pray.2/10/19, i was driving 55+ mph on a 2 lane road.it was a fast radio out, fast engine wind down and out of power and door locks went on and off.there was a driveway for me to pull in to and assess the situation.engine then engaged and things seemed back to normal.i continued home, had 2 issues but i was going slower as i was aware this may happen again.i pulled over and continued each time.i had to stop at the store and was pulling into a parking spot and the car was trying to shut down and steering went out more than once until i finally got in the parking spot.drove home, parked.i went into the house an read the manual.i decided to go out and check my fuses.key fob did not work.doors were unlocked, got in car, put key in the ignition and car was totally dead.key would not come out of the ignition.my husband called tow truck in the am to jump.car would not jump so he had it towed to dealer where it is at this moment.i am afraid i'm going to be killed or cause someone else harm if they end up crashing into me because of the quick shut down and loss of steering!!!
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. while driving 60 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. the vehicle failed to restart and the key failed to release from the ignition. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer and dealer were not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 13,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the vehicle lunged when the accelerator pedal was applied and there was a constant loss of power. the contact had to constantly pull the vehicle over to the side of the road. the vehicle was towed to coyle chevrolet buick gmc (1801 broadway st, , in 47129, (812) 218-1100) and serviced under the warranty. after the warranty expired, the dealer diagnosed and replaced the sonly , sonly bolt, sonly generator, air conditioning compressor, flushed the coolant, replaced compressor kit(2), and performed additional repairs. however, the failures still occurred. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the failure mileage was not available. .*bp consumer stated transmission was not the problem. cam-actuators have dust which causes a car to flutter or die. consumer told the mechanic that was not the problem there are of complaints with this same problem. as of 5/15/19 car is still in the shop.*jp
While driving my 2013 chevy malibu on the highway & turnpike, i was driving approx 60-70 miles and hour and then out of nowhere the vehicle decreased speed down to 30 mph and also had me cause an accident with the drivers behind me. the check engine light then came on and a message "engine power has been reduced". i was able to pull the car over; however, this is a danger and should be resolved as still this continues to occur since i have contacted general motors and advised of the safety issue. still have not seen a recall on this issue yet which i was shocked. i asked the gentleman if there have been other complaints and he stated yes. so i am very shocked that this issue has not been resolved. my vehicle now is out of warranty and still mechanics do not know what is wrong and can not fix this issue. i do not feel that i have to pay for parts that this vehicle does not while they try to pinpoint the problem. literally the mechanic at day chevrolet during the diagnostic just said to lets start somewhere and see if that resolves the issue. i don't believe i should have to pay for parts that may or may not resolve the issue. since then i now have more lights popping up regarding traction stability, parking break (which was replaced and did not fix the issue) track control, etc have come up and seems to have disabled my anti-lock brakes. could someone pleas contact me if there is a solution for this if someone is aware of what part or parts will fix this defect.
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. while driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled and the electrical and power steering functionality was lost. on some occasions, the vehicle would restart on the first attempt. on other occasions, it took several attempts to restart the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to palm chevrolet (located at 2300 sw college rd, ocala, fl 34471, (352) 484-0733) to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code or duplicate the failures. the manufacturer was notified of the failures and provided case number: 9-4928351338. the approximate failure mileage was 133,000.
Water pump problems causing car to overheat and leak constantly.
Around the end of oct, had lunch at a restaurant and as i was leaving the engine light came on and my car stalled and jerked a little. i managed to get it going but since then it's been doing it while driving ~ we ran it through a diagnostic and was given a code "intake (a) camshaft position actuator circuit/open over-advanced....."

Car reporting error code "p0304 - cylinder 4 misfire". car has 88000 miles on it, dealer says there's internal engine damage. this was verified by second auto repair shop. was also notified that gm is aware of a problem with this 2.0l turbo engine on several of their automobile models (pi1178b, pi1178d, pi1178e). car has been properly maintained with all scheduled service being performed.
I was driving on the highway going 70mph and the car lost power and the service stabili track and reduce power messages came on and slowed down to 30mph. thank god i got to pull over safely.my son and i had to be towed home
Driving to dealership to have oil changed, check engine light on,battery on an battery saver activated, dealer said battery was good ,,when starting car ,put in gear, steering wheel won't move, turn off ,start again, then moves,an car dies,an restarts by itself.while driving hesitation in accelerating. i called 1-800-521-7300,spoke to nash ,,i am told there is no recall on this .very upsetting to buy a car an have this happen ,,first an last chevy i ever buy ,,,thought gm would taje care of their customers !!!!
Saturday i was parking my car and the car all of a sudden stopped. the wheel locked and then the car just shut off. i had no problem restarting it. today i was on the highway and my vehicle did the same thing.
Car is currently parked at a mechanic because i'm afraid to drive it. it began with the rpms going to 3000-4000 when barely pressing gas pedal. the car stalled after putting it in reverse nearly causing me to get hit, the engine light came on so we took it directly to our mechanic. the code for a bad cam solenoid was listed, and that was replaced. drove it for about a week, still noticing issues with rpms, and when braking, the rpms would increase. just had to drop it back off at mechanic because while going 30mph, the car when to 4000 rpms and the 'engine overspeed' light came on the dash, and the car was losing power. after i turned the car off, and restarted, the rpms would not go beyond 2000, and the fuel hand went to a full tank? this is completely ridiculous for a car with 70,000 miles, and gm should be held accountable. thankfully i've not been involved in a car accident yet, but i'm fearful if i continue to drive this car, i'll not be able to say that!
Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled without warning. each time the failure occurred, the vehicle had to be turned off and restarted to reset the computer. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and suggested taking the vehicle to dan cummins chevrolet buick (1020 m.l.k. jr blvd, paris, ky 40361, 1-(859) 987-4345) for diagnostic testing and repair. the contact was not included in nhtsa action number: rq13003 (electrical system). the approximate failure mileage was 84,000.
I would be driving the car and all the lights on the dashboard would come on and then go off. the steering would pull to the left. a couple of times all the lights on the dashboard would come on and the car would cut off while i'm driving on the road.
My vehicle had repairs last year 2 times, the engine was rebuilt almost completely. the suspension went out, the esc as well, electrical issues. draining battery constantly. the dash showed engine running hot pulled over let it cool and it would not restart..

While driving and moving or using steering drive car completely shuts down. i almost had 2 accidents because of this. it happens randomly suddenly the car while driving shuts down, stereo goes off and driving steering wheel goes hard i cant use it. when i turn off the car trying to park it it shuts down and keys get locked or stuck, unable to remove keys. while driving sometimes if you turn on highlights it shuts down the car. this is very unsafe, really disappointed with general motors and chevrolet. i almost crash with other car because of this. it really is a fabric issue, there are hundreds of cases and complaints demonstrating that this is a error that gm or chevrolet needs to fix for the safety of their customers.

Keep stuck in ignition. no power. had p0010 code. changed the intake camshaft position solenoid.
2/3/2018, outside temperature was15degrees fahrenheit . traveling at 65 mph then suddenly vehicle slowed and a warning appeared on the dash, "engine power reduced" and two warning lights, traction and engine light. as i proceeded to my destination an engine over speed warning came on slowing the vehicle. vehicles in the rear started passing my vehicle since i could not maintain the speed limit. this incident was a bit scary. two codes were retrieved via on board diagnostics, p228d and p0089. codes were cleared and things so far are ok. mileage on the vehicle is 48,683.
Car keeps powering off while driving inside panel lights turn off then car powers do and goes back on
Car shuts off while driving at any speed. touch screen goes black and power steering goes out. it happens more frequent when turning. it is unsafe because if you are driving on a curve it could cause a crash because the steering wheel will not turn. you loose control of the car.
Vehile is at 61k no accidents, while increasing speed as coming on to the interstate (had not even reached 70 mph) the engine overheating warning came on, i pulled over to the side and before i had a chance to turn off the car, it all the sudden cooled down and no warning was given. called the husband he said it had happen one other time 2 days ago. he said that it instantly cools itself down.
