While driving my chevrolet 2013 malibu ltz my stabiltrack light and service power steering pump light came on my dash immediately afterwards when driving at low speeds any where from zero to thirty miles per hour the car will randomly lose engine power and will stall but the electrical system will stay on but the head lights go out and the power steering will go out making the vehicle hard to turn. the car dies just about every time i am either accelerating from 0 mph to any low speed unless i slam on the gas pedal. in bumper to bumper traffic im restarting my malibu every 3 seconds after it dies. it's is so dangerous if i have to turn and their is oncoming traffic cause the car could just die in the middle of the turn and be smashed by oncoming traffic. this happens on the street on the highway anywhere im driving . car was taken to dealership where they held it for 2 weeks and said it was a oil pump solenoid valve being stuck. as soon as i drove off the lot i didnt even get around the corner and the car died at a low speed and the stability light came on along with the power steeri my pump and check engine light. vehicle has to been taken in several times for cam shaft position sensor failure also. car failures have been common since the date i purchased this vehicle

See attached photo. i keep getting this message.

We pd 3000 down on a chevy malibu from nimnicht chevrolet 1550 cassatt ave jacksonville fla 32210 on july 5 it was parked for three days when we bought i because i became very sick. july 8 my husband went to go to the store he got to the store the engine light came on he took it right back to the dealership. they kept it a week said it was fixed we went to get it drove it home the check engine light came on again we took it right back asked for the manager told them we wanted our money back they said they couldn't we asked for another car they said they couldn't they promised it would be fixed so it stayed there again they called us again promised it was fixed like a new one .well this was aug the 1st now they call us tell us its fixed for sure this time. we drove it home and the light came on again!!!!! this has been so stressful me and my husband are disabled he just had knee surgery. its bout to make me have a nervous breakdown. the car nada is 8645. they charging us 22,000 we haven't even got to drive the car but home and back to the dealership i just want my 3000.00 i paid down back this car is a lemon and they knew it cause we wanted to buy a good used car and the salesman showed us that one said it was all they had. i looked on line a few nights ago on their sight they had 100s of used cars why he lied so we would buy that lemon please help us just to get our money back and the car is only worth 9000 and we having to pay 22,000 if the salesman would of shown us that we never would of bought it. we just got ripped off

Since we bought this car the check engine light has come on every few months. the engine has been rebuilt to fix "a stuck cylinder" and the water pump had to be replaced. the check engine light is on again and it seems that the car has no pick up when the gas pedal is pushed. it seems to hesitate. this is the worst care i have ever owned.

Get engine oil warning for low level

Computer codes: camshaft position actuator a - bank 1 circuit malfunction camshaft position actuator a - bank 1 timing over-advan. when the car is started it jerks back and forth before i start driving at a steady speed. when i put the vehicle in reverse the car completely stalls and i have to restart the car.

Last summer, car would not start; replaced battery. in january 2017, took in for starting issues - found nothing. now engine light on; dealer could not assist me. driving this evening; battery light came on then total shut down of vehicle - had to tow it into dealer.

My 2013 chevy malibu cam positioning actuator caused my check engine light to come on. when i had the code read, they said that the sensor was throwing the code. my car just went out of dealership warranty with 52,xxx miles on it. is this covered by gm recall?

The exhaust and power have issues...check engine light is always on and power to system is reduced. fuel economy has decreased severely. check engine light will not go off. exhaust coming from tailpipe even after car has been running awhile. this issue happens when the vehicle is running and operating. second issue is the trunk latch! the vehicle has an outside trunk release button. when vehicle is completely locked, the trunk will open on it's own! we will come out to the car with the trunk wide open when we know we have locked it completely. checked, double checked, even triple checked but we will still come out to a vehicle with the trunk wide open! this trunk opening issue happens when the car is parked and off but, locked!

I was driving my 2013 chevy, malibu with 46,901 miles at 80mph on the interstate when my car started loosing power and became uneasy to drive. the engine service light, stability track light, and engine power is reduced was illuminated on the dashboard. prior to this incidence, my engine and stability track lighting would come on at random making the car difficulty to drive. i would take the car back to the chevrolet dealership only to be told that the tech could not replicate/duplicate the engine light/stability track coming. the dealership had me to purchase a new battery and change spark plugs, but engine light/stability track continued to come on at random. dealership advised that they could not fix anything that could not be replicated/duplicated. *tr

First my dash cluster went out nothing work had a new one put in after about two week it went out again had it at the dealer they don't know why. so i did not replace it this time because i don't know if it well happen again the cost to replace is on me. now i'm having motor is having a oil leak bad found out why the valevtrain oil control passages integrated has come apart and they will not cover it on warranty said that i did not change the oil when it came time to do i have it change all the time at the dealer when it come time when light come on to tell me. this is high dollar to paid for it as they said top of the motor has to be taken apart. and they would not let gm know of this. *tr

2013 chevrolet malibu (lt) has been experiencing serve electrical issues. this highly dangerous defect i have been experiencing as well yet there is no recall! first the my link/navigation/radio module would shut off and come back on. while this occurs, the battery voltage would jump down then jump back up. i called chevy/gmc and they recommended to shut the car off, remove the key, open the driver side door so the computer can reset itself. it continued to happy through the course of couple hours then finally stopped and was working from over the course of 4 days. as of yesterday the vehicle completely shut off, entire touchscreen module shut off, and turned back on in a split second. once the car turned on, the steering wheel was completely tight, almost locked, and we would barely turn into our driveway while in motion on a 25pm street. thank god i was not coming off a highway or driving fast like reports of this issue like other consumers but this is dangerous. i am terrified of this vehicle and will be taking it to chevy. there are over a hundred complaints and videos i saw after i looked up if this issue was common, which it appears to be, online. this issue needs to be on the recall list because this can cause accidents and someone can get seriously injured.

Was driving on left lane of busy interstate when car suddenly began jerking and displayed "reduced engine power" and "engine overspeed", cel & esc lights also illuminated. car slowed drastically and almost caused an accident, driver in next lane slammed on his brakes and allowed me to slingshot over to the shoulder.

The check engine light comes on and stays on - when checked at the dealer they told me no code found for two years, then as time went on it started adding service power steering and ac/dc shut down. after numerous visits to the dealer and two major repairs, the check engine light still comes on, and the power steering locks up. on august 24, 2016, i was driving 50+ mph on a curvy road when the check engine light came on, followed immediately by the service power steering, followed by something stabilizer, followed by ac/dc shut down, to engine overheated idle engine. the power steering locked up and i was unable to steer the car and ran off the road. the car was towed to the dealer who had just worked on the car for the second time in a month, and they found no codes - no surprise! i complained to chevy for the third time at corporate level and they had denied my claim as being safety related. i find it hard to believe that a car you suddenly can't steer isn't considered a safety issues. i also find it hard to believe that chevy can't recognize that there is a problem with the 2013 malibu. how many people have to die before they address this issue? also, why are they waiting on codes when the problem is most likely an electrical/computer problem. if the computer isn't working its no surprise that the warnings are not throwing a code! common sense! also, a car doesn't throw warning lights and check engine lights without something setting it off! hence you have a problem!

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. while driving various speeds, the check engine light illuminated on the instrument panel. the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing; however, the details of the diagnosis could not be provided. the vehicle was not repaired, but the check engine indicator was disabled at the dealer. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 55,083. updated 11/08/16*lj *tr

While driving down the road on 7/10/16 my 2013 chevy malibu lost power, engine light and traction control light came on and went from 55-60 mph to 20 mph. when trying to accelerate more the car could shake violently. after stopping and turning the car off it would not restart. the car was towed to kerry chevrolet in alexandria, ky. after diagnostic testing they determined that the fuel pump needed replaced. on 8/10/16 while driving down the highway while in vacation in florida the car again started to lose power, the engine began to slip or miss and jerk. again engine light came on. car died three times while on the road trying to get it to a safe place for a tow truck to tow it. it was taken to a dealership and the cam shaft sensor was replaced. car continues to hesitate and miss.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. while driving various speeds, the electrical system failed. as a result, the power steering seized. the failure recurred numerous times. in addition, the ignition switch failed to release the key and the check engine warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed and the sensor circuit was replaced in the camshaft. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the vin was unknown. the approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

My vehicle is at approximately 42,000 miles and just recently at a stop light (my foot on the brakes) upon my slow acceleration, lightly stepping on the gas (approximately 3 mph) my car idled extremely rough and then it died. the radio remained on and the lights were on, so the only indicator that pointed me towards my car dying out was the fact that the ac cut off, steering wheel locked and the rpm went to 0. immediately i put the car in park, switched the key to off and then had no trouble re-starting my vehicle. shortly after, the engine light came on. since then i had the camshaft position sensor replaced (there are two camshaft position sensors and both were replaced $117.00 usd) and i had my battery load tested as well as my alternator. everything checked out good, but the problem still exists. what is going on???

My fan keeps staying on after my car has been turned off. i have taken it to the dealer three times now. this week my check engine light came on, my car signaled that it was overheating, and i needed to idle my engine. the temperature guage went back and forth from cold to hot. i was told at the last trip to the dealer they had fixed everything and i had a lifetime warranty. now there is this problem where i cannot turn on the defrost or the car will think it is over heating, but there is no smoke and it can be in as little as 30 seconds after i start my car. the panel where the rear camera gets warm but no heat comes out of the vents. my concern is the vehicle will ignite while i am driving.

Damage to oil pan from coming in contact with the ground

While i was driving the car kept shutting off and throwing it into theft mode...this happens on daily basis now and i'm scared it will cause an accident due to the continuous shutting off in the middle of driving in certain speeds...i see there is recalls on this which i do keep getting the anti theft deterrent system error message in my main screen when this happens. when will there be a recall for this on this year & model because i see so many complaints about this online? *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. while driving approximately 45 mph, the speed decreased to 25 mph after the reduced engine power warning indicator illuminated. the contact pulled over and powered the vehicle off and back on; however, the warning indicator was still illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the sensor in the throttle body failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 12,500.

Driving 55mph on cruise control, i heard a warning chime. looked at dash and the words engine power is reduced were on the screen. i looked for a symbol on the dash to tell me more and saw the engine symbol was on. the car didn't perform out of character from already going 55 on cruise. nothing changed in the engine performance. i continued toward home as that was my destination and was less than 15 miles from home. i parked the car in my garage, turned off the engine, waited a few seconds, then started the engine again. the warning came on right away. i called the dealer who i'm leasing the car from but it was a saturday afternoon and they were closed. i did leave them a message to call me on monday and why. i have not and will not drive the car until i hear from the dealer and have a date and time to bring it in because of the concern the engine could power down as i'm driving according to internet forums i since read that others with the same warning said their car did slow down on a fast busy highway. this warning is in the manual that came with the car and says it is the throttle body sensor gone bad. *tr

Since 2015 car has experienced engine speed problems, wiring issues and every 5-6 months the car is in a chevy dealership, they say its fixed but then its back in the shop

For no apparent reason the vehicle will stop and the electric controls will go off (lights, display indicators and signals)....car will stall as if i have turned it off with the ignition switch for no reason while i am driving. no warning whatsoever and have plenty of gas. i have to sometimes stop in the middle of traffic until i can regain some control of the vehicle. and at that point it will seem as though it is not fully functioning because all the indicators are displayed. (it seems that there is something wrong with the computer system)..... *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. while driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed, but the failure was unable to be determined. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 116,000.

I was on the on ramp, behind another car driving to get onto the highway when we both drove through a big puddle of water. the car in front of me stopped and the water came over the hood of my car. my car then stalled and i coasted to the left side of the on ramp. my car would not start. the other car continued driving. no water entered my vehicle. *tr

In summer 2015 while using ac, heat randomly would blast out. (while idle or driving). would have to restart car to get ac to work again. in the past 2 weeks dec15/jan16, engine overheated-idle indicator came on while driving on the highway, once at 65 mph, once at 30 mph. then a few minutes later it would turn off. i looked at temp gauge, and it was not at an overheating level (half way only). also, now heat only intermittently works. i will have to turn car on and off repeatedly, and turn ac on/off, heat on/off, defrost on/off, and sometimes the heat will finally get warm. never seems to get hot like it's supposed to. took to repair shop for the engine overheated/idle warning and stated nothing was wrong. safety issue not having heat for front windshield defrost when it's under 30 degrees out. mechanic said it's probably a computer issue with the car. but now i'm seeing this is a recurring problem with many car owners. gm needs to recall, as this can be a safety concern!

While driving the engine power suddenly reduced and a warning came on indicating reduced engine power. the vehicle was taken to dealer who had it for 2 weeks and drove around 500 miles on car and were unable to replicate error. *tr

I was driving my son to work and i lost all power to my vehicle. i had no brakes, power steering and my engine light came on and battery light came on as well. i managed not get in a accident and get into a parking lot. thank god. my backlights have had issues as well they have stayed on and have cuased me to get pulled over by the police. *tr

When my vehicle is idle it would occasionally idle rough. happens most times im idling. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that while driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle hesitated and powered down as the engine over speed and service power steering warning light illuminated. the vehicle restarted but the failure recurred approximately thirty times. the contact mentioned that the failure occurred only at 70 mph or higher. the contact also stated that when the failure occurred, the doors failed to unlock. the vehicle was taken to a dealer but the failure could not be duplicated. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was 16,000.

As i am driving either on the highway at over 70 mph or in the city i have lost all power to the vehicle. loss of power steering, power breaks everything. the car shuts completely down and just before all the check engine and service lights flash through. this has happened 4 times and the last time i was pulling into apple valley motors in martinsburg wv parking lot, lost power and hit the curb and blew out a tire because i lost power steering. the dealer will do nothing about it there are many of the same complaints for the same problem on chevy malibu forum. com finally someone suggested that we should report the problem here. i have had to put 3 batteries in the year that i owned it. not only this but the transmission and engine both went bad at the same time. i only have 86k on it. i contacted both gm and chevy and explained the situation and neither one will assist me. they gave me a case number but in the end they said there is nothing they can do because all warranties have expired. ( they expired because of the date, i am still under the mileage portion of the warranty) as of right now my car is at the dealership because i can't afford to have it fixed and the dealership, gm/chevy or the third party warranty that expired 8 days after they replaced the transmission will not help either. luckily i only hit a curb at a very slow speed. i could have killed someone. this has happened both on the highway and in the city while i am in motion. the dealership that i purchased it at had to change the battery in the trunk during the first 30 days that i owned it. that fixed the problem for a while. but i don't know if that is the cause of this problem or not. the first time this happened was app 4 months ago and has happened a total of 4 times since then. and still the no one will help or look into the issue. the most recent was last week.

Tl* the contact owns a 2013 chevrolet malibu. while driving approximately 40 mph, there vehicle exhibited extreme hesitation and jerked. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they were unable to locate a failure. the dealer recommended using a higher level of fuel octane. after the fuel was dispensed, the engine module failed and was replaced by the dealer. the failure persisted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 50. updated 09/25/15*lj updated 10/17/2017*cn
