While in motion, the front defrost stopped working and all air started blowing from other vents. this caused the windshield to fog obstructing vision. multiple attempts were made to turn the defrost back on without any success. air continues to blow from all other vents. it appears as if a recall has been issued for the 2014 malibu for the same problem.
Lose all power going down the road doesn't matter speed and lose all control of steering, brakes. while at red light car will die or try to give itself acceleration. changed all sensors and other codes given. shows engine reduced power or engine overload
While at a stop light on a very busy city street the engine stopped running and the car shut off. my foot was still on the break and the car was in drive. i put the car in park then restarted the car and it started running like it should, there was no warning lights displayed before, during, or after this happened. in another incident while i reversed the car the engine shut off without any warning lights, i had to put the car in park again and restart it to get the engine running again.
My car keeps losing power. it starts with the radio flashing on and off. then the steering locks up. the car sometimes shuts all the way off. it starts back up but it will shut off while driving. i purchased the car may 2019. it has happened several times. most recently 9/16/2019. driving the radio flashed the steering wheel tightened. it didnt shut down. but it when through that process like 5-6 times back to back. when researching the issue i see my car is not the only car having this problem. it appears to be a wide spread issue with the 2013 chevy malibu. it should be addressed.
Coming home from work on 8/6/2019 traveling down md-210 highway, with car motion, the radio cut off and then entire car shut off. we stopped at a red light, so my husband took the key out of the ignition restarted the car and we traveled home. this is not the first time, we had our car checked at our mechanic's shop but at the time he could not determine what the issue could be and could not duplicate the issue. this is not the first time, the radio cuts off, instrument dash lights, cuts off and the the power steering shuts down just for a couple of seconds, it happened when we traveled to work, my husband turned the steering wheel right to get on the highway, the radio went off for a few seconds then it came back home. this is very dangerous and god forbid if this happens while car in motion on a green light it could kill someone. please recall this vehicle asap.
I received a message on my interior screen that air shut off due to engine overheating yesterday. three weeks ago, my service engine light came on and i had autozone run a diagnostic test and it said to replace radiator. this car is a 2013 chevy malibu and i keep it in good condition. it has 75,701 miles. these warning messages occur when the car is moving on the highway.
Door locks engaging and disengaging randomly while driving, headlights turning off and on randomly while driving, car starting while parked in garage (no remote start). dealership replaced bcm, could not guarantee this fixed the problem. indicated they had never seen the issue before. within 2 weeks, all issues repeated themselves. returned to dealership. the dealership kept the car for 2 weeks and then called me and left a message to pick it up as they could not find the issue. when i called back, the dealership said "it was a good thing you haven't picked up the vehicle yet, it started on its own 3 times this morning". if i had picked this vehicle up, the issue would have happened again while i was at home. case has been filed with chevrolet customer car, and sufs (gm global safety). no action has been taken. no engineers have been sent down to look at the car from gm headquarters. after the car started on its own at the dealership, they changed out the ignition switch, but again, cannot guarantee the issues won't reoccur. car was returned to the dealership for a third time on may 2nd after the headlights turned on and off 3 times on the way to work on may 1st. after having the vehicle until may 10th, i was informed that the dealership could not find an issue, and i should pick the car up as they could not diagnose the problem if they do not see it. the response from gm has been a joke. the car is not safe to drive. i cannot drive it at night, and cannot part it in my garage, as it could start and cause my entire family to die from carbon monoxide poisoning, or could overheat from running in park while we are sleeping and start a fire. i cannot in good conscience sell the car either. so, i am stuck with an unsafe vehicle that general motors will not take responsibility for. my concern is that there may be other vehicles on the road with the same issue.
The car will stall while pulling into traffic or at a red light or stop sign. after mmseveral stops it drains the battery completely. no problems when driving long distances on the interstate. very dangerous. l
Driving to dealership to have oil changed, check engine light on,battery on an battery saver activated, dealer said battery was good ,,when starting car ,put in gear, steering wheel won't move, turn off ,start again, then moves,an car dies,an restarts by itself.while driving hesitation in accelerating. i called 1-800-521-7300,spoke to nash ,,i am told there is no recall on this .very upsetting to buy a car an have this happen ,,first an last chevy i ever buy ,,,thought gm would taje care of their customers !!!!
Saturday i was parking my car and the car all of a sudden stopped. the wheel locked and then the car just shut off. i had no problem restarting it. today i was on the highway and my vehicle did the same thing.
My 2013 chevrolet malibu lost power and shut off while driving on five different occasions to date. the first two times i had come to a complete stop and the key could not be removed from the ignition. i had to wait for 10 to 30 minutes before the power returned and could remove the key or restart the vehicle. on the third occasion, i was driving on the highway and the radio and air conditioning lost power and the car was threatening to shut off but regained power. the steering wheel briefly locked up during this event. i later turned off on the nearest exit making a complete stop at the light and the vehicle lost complete power and shut off in the middle of traffic.the steering wheel locked up, the radio and all lights went black and the air shut off for a few seconds and then came back on. i had to put the car in park and was then able to restart it. the same thing happened on a residential street with heavy traffic while slowing for a stop light.the next incident was in a parking lot while trying to back out with the car still in drive. there were also a few times where the radio went black and the steering wheel locked up briefly while making a turn but did not loose power. my daily commute to work requires me to take the highway. i am terrified of what may happen after the memorial day holiday when i am to return to work and travel the highway again.
I am having a problem with my speedometer jumping, and there is also an indicater light that keeps popping on saying that my car is losing power. i've taken to the landers dealership where i am purchasing my car from six time's now to be fixed, and yet it continues to happen.
Trunk release : the trunk randomly releases and pops open even while driving down the road. this has happened several times and last happened on 01/10/2018 while it was parked.
My 2013 chevy malibu has been having power and/or electrical issues. i have took it to the dealership numerous of times, but the issue is still ongoing. when i steer left or right, my car powers down and the steering wheel locks. some times the car radio screen and dashboard lights flashes on & off. the only way to make it stop is to turn the car off and back on. i can be driving down the road and the car will shut down and power off on its own. it is extremely dangerous, but that is the only transportation i have right now. i am not sure what is going on and i have seen numerous of complaints from people with the same issues. please investigate.
While driving the car informed me that i had an accident and onstar called. this happened several times. in order to stop the flashers i would have to pull over and restart the car. i informed the dealer and they have been testing , calling gm, and repairing for 6weeks. they keep telling me it is fixed and i drive it and the same thing happens again. this has been going on for 6 weeks now and it's still at the dealer. they can not seem to find the issue. the last time i tried to drive the car in addition to to the other problems the car would stop all together. this seems like a major saftey issue to me.
Key fob breaks in half. manufacturer makes a key that can not withstand life of vehicle. have had 2 key fobs break since purchasing vehicle.
Vehicle started stalling while idling at stop signs / lights. now it completly stops running while in full speed. when using the cars air conditions you can count on it stalling in stationary motion and when moving.
While getting on the expressway the car cut off on the ramp while going 24mph. i was unable to turn on hazard lights, nothing at all would work. i could not immediately restart the car. i could not remove the key either. i had to wait approximately 3 mins for the car to light up and then i could restart the car. on the way home on the ramp on the expressway the car lost power steering and jerked to the left. the enigine did not stop this time. in this case fortunately there were no injuries.
I was driving down my driveway and my radio was shutting off and on and then my vehicle would die and the key would lock up, i had to sit there for a minute before it would finally start back up.this has happened twice already. luckily i was in my driveway when it happened
We pd 3000 down on a chevy malibu from nimnicht chevrolet 1550 cassatt ave jacksonville fla 32210 on july 5 it was parked for three days when we bought i because i became very sick. july 8 my husband went to go to the store he got to the store the engine light came on he took it right back to the dealership. they kept it a week said it was fixed we went to get it drove it home the check engine light came on again we took it right back asked for the manager told them we wanted our money back they said they couldn't we asked for another car they said they couldn't they promised it would be fixed so it stayed there again they called us again promised it was fixed like a new one .well this was aug the 1st now they call us tell us its fixed for sure this time. we drove it home and the light came on again!!!!! this has been so stressful me and my husband are disabled he just had knee surgery. its bout to make me have a nervous breakdown. the car nada is 8645. they charging us 22,000 we haven't even got to drive the car but home and back to the dealership i just want my 3000.00 i paid down back this car is a lemon and they knew it cause we wanted to buy a good used car and the salesman showed us that one said it was all they had. i looked on line a few nights ago on their sight they had 100s of used cars why he lied so we would buy that lemon please help us just to get our money back and the car is only worth 9000 and we having to pay 22,000 if the salesman would of shown us that we never would of bought it. we just got ripped off
Since we bought this car the check engine light has come on every few months. the engine has been rebuilt to fix "a stuck cylinder" and the water pump had to be replaced. the check engine light is on again and it seems that the car has no pick up when the gas pedal is pushed. it seems to hesitate. this is the worst care i have ever owned.
Heater will come on full blast, on it's own, after starting car while parked. this has happened more than 3 times and the heater wasn't even turned on! i have to turn heater off manually. unk if this is an electrical problem. dealer said they have heard of this but think it's something in the airwaves? i notice that i have been by a driveup bank when this happens.
The brake booster gave out while approaching a red light. i was able to stop but it was difficult and my check engine light came con and engine had a rough idle. had to tow car to dealership and verified that it was unsafe to drive. there is not a recall or warrantied so $800.00 later it will be safe but but i will be set back. after doing research i found that there is a current recall for the exact same problem on 2014 models. good for those owners.
While driving and going to change lanes, i turn on my turn signal to change lanes and the power steering stops working, the dash gauges flicker and the radio cuts out and sometimes the motor cuts off. this also occurs when sitting still, the steering wheel will bounce if turning one direction or the other. i have seen many of these complaints online and no resolution. this also happens while turning. this happens every day.
Heating inoperable without warning, defrost unable to operate, happened after receiving an oil change at a certified gm dealer. worked fine as i entered the dealership.
Rear window blew out, was told something to do with the rear defrost possibly, still had to pay out of pocket for something out of my control, so far very unhappy with chevy/gm, second car with an unvcovered issue
Car randomly losses power at any speed. during this time, i am unable to control the car. the power steering is off. this happened to my wife as she made a left turn on a green light on bell road, az (a busy road). there is no way that this should be taken lightly.
When fan is on there is a loud knocking noise. chevrolet dealership informed me that my air compressor is bad. this will also affect the ability to defrost the windshield.
Rear wheel bearings failed at 45000 miles. humming sound from back of car gets louder as you increase speed. for someone who is deaf this could be disastorus. many complaints on gm websites and the web regaudring this premature war of the ac delco wheel bearing hub..
In the last year, i had to replace, at my own expense, 3 out of the 4 wheel bearing hub assemblies on my 2013 chevrolet malibu. there is also a terrible toxic smell coming from the air conditioning and heating vents attributed to the car's evaporator core. chevrolet has acknowledged these problems, but refuses to make the repairs at their own expense. these issues have never occurred in any vehicle i have ever owned for the last 30 years. chevrolet must be held responsible before someone is injured, sickened or killed.
I have a malibu eco boost. on june 23, 2015 i was driving on 96 and the charging system failure light came on the car began to shut down. the power steering went out. i was able to pull over on the shoulder but the keys could not be removed from the ignition. i had it towed to graff chevrolet andthey said the only thing they could find wrong was a speedsensor. the guy tom said i could come get my vehicle at 8pm since thepart was enroute. i drove over 80 miles to get there at8 and my car wasn't ready but the guy said i cold take it with me. i did not.they fixed that then said it was a right wheel hub.i know these two things havenothing to do with the charging system. tookmy car home and the same thinghappened on the holiday july 4th.why didn't thecomputer or the mechanic detect a problem with the charging system.
The chrome finish is peeling on the interior drivers side door handle. the chrome plastic is very sharp and causes cuts when opening the door.
Trunk lid opens at any time on it's own.
On saturday morning i was about to go to work i stared the the car as usual but when i got in the express way when i try and accelerate the it got hard and the car wanted to stop so i got out of the expressway and the malfunction indicator lamp show up. when i try and hit the gas again the car stop
Metal plating on the passenger door handle peeling off and is extremely sharp. have had 2 people slice their hands/fingers on the door, resulting in a painful "paper-cut" like injury. research on the internet suggests this has been an issue for gm vehicles in the past. car is 2 years old and shouldn't be falling apart.
While driving the car, engine light came on, then the battery light came on. took the car to dealer for repair on july 11 and was told it was the motor for the fan that cools the battery. dealer repaired and returned to me on july 13. noted cover on airbag on steering wheel is malaligned, which is a new problem. traveled out of state with car and found cruise control and trip odometer no longer work (were fine prior to "repair"). after arriving out of state, the mylink computer failed to work then began to work about two hours later. took car to dealer who refused to take it and told me to come back next week. went to second dealer who has had car since july 16. meanwhile, we discovered the car was under recall and dealer should not have sold prior to repair. this critical repair was not made at the first or second dealer. this is an inferior product, a vehicle with 668 actual miles should not have a fan motor problem. the gas cap does not click to close either. my car has been in a dealership garage more than i have actually gotten to drive it; my first payment is not even due yet! this car is a lemon, i feel cheated and misled by chevy since they had the chance to fix it before they sold it to me. my family was in the car at the time of the fan motor issue, this could have been a significant accident. i am extremely disappointed in this vehicle and am afraid of further problems with it in the future.
I bought a new 2013 chevy malibu in december, 2012. since then, the car has been recalled four times for four different possible malfunctions. it is unconscionable that the car manufacturer would release a vehicle that was recalled no less than four times in little over two years due to their mistakes. what recourse does a consumer have for lost time from work, lost productivity, wasted hours and the inconvenience of shuttling the car to a repair shop four separate times? shouldn't chevy be required to reimburse the consumer for these losses? when you spend upwards of $30,000 on a new product, it is not unreasonable to expect that you are purchasing a quality product that does not require four separate visits to the repair shop on top of regularly scheduled maintenance and oil changes. *tr
