Takata recall. as i was leaving work, making a right turn, my steering wheel jerked to the left and locked. while still driving, i managed to turn the steering wheel just enough for me to pull out of the road and into a parking lot. when i stopped the car there was a message on the dashboard that displayed 'power steering'.

Takata recall. i have recalls that chevrolet not picking up. all the recalls are happening to my car. when it rain the traction system light comes on, my lights bulbs constantly go out, my cigarette light starked fire. when turning a curve my car halts or stall and jerk. there are so many things going on with the car that i can explain. when it rain my car pulls or goes off road i have to drive really slow because i am afraid that i will loose control of the vehicle do the braking system etc.

While driving and stationary the inside lights blinks, the power steering cane on twice and i have my seatbelt on the light indicator comes on while the it's connected

My vehicle is at an auto shop been there for a week and a half to repair the clunking noise in the steering column but the motor and module for the electric steering assist is seizing up which would be dangerous to turn in traffic. i already spent enough time and money on parts and labor. this is nothing i have done to the car only had for a year. i need your help! this should be a recall issue! or send me a new motor and module for this car please. you guys can at least do that. i love the car but this is a problem. 2.4l electric assist. the steering column is fine just need the motor and module. thank you for your help!

On friday morning, march 22, 2019 while driving my power steering was lost. the power steering esc message came on. by the grace of god i was able to get the vehicle to safety .huffines chevrolet plano replaced and programed steering torque sensor for $590.18. the mileage on the car was 154,257 so the #15356: special coverage adjustment - loss of electric power steering assist - (aug, 2015) document id: 4259502 which states 10 years or 150,000 miles did not apply.

My girlfriend was driving my car home from the doctors and all of a sudden the power steering went out. it cause her to hit the curb and possibly do more damage. she was only doing 30 mph on a busy street. i have a date with a dealership on the 27th of march 2019 to wait for the verdict of what there going to say. i have read alot of the post on here and have seen that it is a common problem. i also have a problem with my headlights going out i have changed them several times with different brands and they continue to go out. i have to run with my high beams on because the lights keeps burning out. this is cause and safety issue and could involve points on my license if pulled over. this is critical since i'm a cdl driver. the steering could cause death if traveling at a higher speed. gm knows about the problem and if public isn't notified that it's faulty could also involve a lawsuit.

Starting car and power steering light comes on. i turn it off and back on and it's fine. this just started.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet malibu. while driving approximately 40 mph, the traction control system warning indicator illuminated and the steering wheel became very difficult to turn. the contact stated that the failure began approximately a year ago and was worsening. the vehicle was taken to four different independent mechanics, but none of them could resolve the failure. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the approximate failure mileage was 119,000.

While drinking the car the steering quits working almost causing me to be in an accident with my children in the car, the warning light came on saying electronic steering control was the issue. i take it to a shop and they tell me the malibu, g6, and impalas always do that and that there should be a recall placed on it, & it is either the electric steering motor or the tourqe shaft sensor. they said there have been people in accidents which resulted in death due to this issue. could you please check into this please as i am afraid to drive this even after the $1500 for repairs are done. i am a single mother and cannot afford to buy another new car. this is very scary when this goes out especially with children in the car. i have a video of what the car does when you start it up when the steering goes back to working. it does this while driving or sitting stationary. when looking on a chevrolet forum there were thousand of people this has happened to with numerous causing accidents.

Service esc message - esc off message - and power steering messages come on and i cannot turn my car. happens multiple times while driving on daily commute and causes me to be put in dangerous situations especially on the expressways. there is not always a place to pull over. these indicators happens whether driving or sitting still. service air bag message stays on.

The power steering was lost as i was driving my vehicle in a city road. i was driving approximately 25 miles an hour on a straight road, not turning at the time. the service esc light came on. the car jerked to the side, which was terrifying with my two young kids in the car. this repair was covered under the gm bulletin 15356 and the dealership replaced the eps motor and torque sensor. however, since having the work done, the mechanic informed me that my steering column is now bent. as i have not been in any accident, this could only be from the impact of losing my power steering. i feel like this repair should be covered under this special bulletin as well. this power steering failure jeopardized the safety of my family and this should be made a full recall covering all the steering components to the 2011 chevrolet malibu. i would like to be reimbursed for what will be over $700 to fix the issue caused by this power steering failure. *dt

Esc off "service traction control" lights flashed on upon start of vehicle, power steering was off/not working. after restarting the vehicle, the errors disappeared and it was driveable. this happened 7-8 times over the course of 2 weeks, as it became more frequent the vehicle was taken in for service and the steering column replaced. the steering wheel also would shake when driving, especially while turning, and this was a danger at times on icy roads in north dakota!!

Upon starting my 2011 malibu, the alert tone sounded and a message appeared flashing "power steering and also esc". it was almost impossible to turn wheel. i shut the car off, waited a minute, then started it again. it was fine, but has done the same thing several at least once daily over the last week. when error message is not present, the wheel pulses & moves- while in park and in drive. 149,700 miles on car.

While driving my 2011 chevy malibu, i received an error message for power steering. i tried the steering and it was impossible to turn. i turned off the car completely for about 30 minutes. i started it back up and the steering felt normal, so i drove it about a quarter of a mile home. the next morning, i went to start the car to take it to the dealers and the power steering light was lit up in the dashboard and again, the wheel was impossible to turn and at the point i needed a tow. i want to add that the battery completely died, so i was getting no power at all to the car. in my spare time and while waiting for a tow truck i located a bulletin on-line about this issue, bulletin 15356, which will cover your car, if you have owned it last then 10 years and it has less then 150k miles on it, whichever comes first. i called customer service at gm and was told my car was not covered, but learned when checking my car in for service, it was covered. it is nice that gm put this bulletin out to cover this well known problem, but what about the folks that are out of time and mileage. this is not fair! when i was at the dealers, 2 other people were in the service department with the exact same issue power steering failure. gm replaced torque sensor and the motor module. apparently both failed and fortunately both were covered under the "special warranty bulletin 15356, which i am very happy about. i am still upset though, because gm knows that the powering steering a very common problem and has not issued a recall to cover the people that spent their hard owned dollars on buying your car, only for them to get screwed later when the powering steering system fail prematurely. i picked up the car today from the dealer and so far, it seems to be working okay. if the problem re-occurs, i hope it happens before i own the car for 10 years, or before my miles get to 150k

Saturday around about 2 pm on 2/2/2019. in vehicle traveling in left lane on highway 72. vehicles were at complete stop at traffic light. when the traffic light changed and the vehicles began to move about low mph to gradually flowing with moving traffic. i removed my foot from brake my vehicle initiated an acceleration. it seemed strange since the vehicle completely stopper on a slight incline. my vehicle propelled without the help of acceleration as traffic were at low mph. my vehicle suspension changed in steeling off into the median from left lane going down hill unable brake or to control the steering. it happened suddenly hitting the raised concert median my car and i went airborne. injury to my head, aggravated neck cervical, spine, hip and legs. airbag failed to deploy vehicle totaled. the on-star failed to operate. thank god for dispatching his angels around me. and thank god for on the scene angel and angels. stayed with me and called for help. i had paid my car off 2 years ago. the dealership sent me a letter that they had a buyer for my vehicle. unbeknown to the dealership car was totaled. with in the last year i have see chevrolet cars and trucks manufactured more and more defective vehicles. failure to keep the consumers safe is bad business based on advertisement safety hazards that causes premature death. communication to the consumer safety is just as important informational to the media about recalls defects warns proactively speak volumes about the manufacturers and their defective product. customer services is key to safe lives matters on the street and in my vehicles manufactured and dealership we the people can count on you!

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet malibu. while driving approximately 35 mph, the power steering failed to operate without warning. the vehicle was taken to cook gm super store (located at 1193 w saginaw rd, vassar, mi 48768, (989) 823-8523) where it was diagnosed that the steering angle position sensor needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 157,000.

Electrical power steering is failing. steering wheel shakes at times and other times the wheel can't be turned. noticed this right after starting the car and trying to back out of parking space.

Loss of steering control due to failure of electronic steering system. occurs at all speeds, roads, weather, etc.

Car shut off after driving to the store, it wouldn't start and said service esc

'power steering recall ' my power steering on my 2011 chevy malibu went out. it is over $ 1000 to get ot fixed on my own and its causing me to miss work as well as other places and things i have a obligation to attend. when the incident first occured, i was driving over 60 mph putting me as well as other passengers at risk for being extremely jarmed. i took my car back to the original car dealership and there os nothing they could do pr wanted to do. i can not drive a care that i've been paying on because pf the recall and i dont know what to do. please help.

Steering wheels shakes while parked by itself

The night of 12/29/2018 about 10pm at an approximate speed of 45mph i experienced a loss of power steering while driving my 2011 chevrolet malibu home from the mountains and steering became very difficult and we almost ran off of the road down a steep embankment. a service esc and power steering light was on the dash. i restarted the engine and the warning lights went out and the power steering worked again and being in a dark remote area with no cell service i slowly drove home without further problem. i researched the reason i had over the internet and found gm is aware of this obvious (potential deadly) safety issue but i've owned this car 6 years and was never notified about this problem. a check vin of recalls for this vehicle do not show this problem but when i called the chevy dealer who told me that there is a "special coverage' where gm will repair this steering problem at no cost but i was told my car doesn't qualify for this 'special coverage' because i have over 150,000 miles on it. what?!!!! i have a car unsafe to drive with a serious safety defect gm is aware of but because the car has over 150,000 miles on it they won't repair it. i'm disabled with diminished strength and i can't drive my car without placing myself or someone else in danger should this happen again. gm should repair my dangerous car and be proactive enough to prevent an obvious vehicle safety risk to me and other drivers.

Takata recall. power steering and esc light came on while bcar was warming up for the first time, it comes and goes as it pleases sometimes while in motion, sometimes while stationary, and makes it difficult to turn or steer. it also makes my car feel as if the wheels are about to fall off the front end. my air bag light is also on and won't go off. guessing it doesn't work. pulled some codes but nothing for power steering, attached are a few images of a few codes that were pulled. not all codes.

Since of bought the car from dealer the esc light has been on and in the winter months if i get stuck i can't shut off traction control to try and get out because it is disabled. has power reduced

When starting the vehicle sometimes the power steering and service esc message will flash on the dashboard and the steering wheel will be locked and cannot be turned. when restarting the vehicle the message may be gone and the steering wheel will move again or other times it will still be locked and the message persists. also when driving and sitting in idle the steering wheel jerks and vibrates on its own and makes a weird rattling/rubbing sound, esp. when in park. i had this same issue last year and my local chevrolet dealership "fixed" it for no cost since there was a recall pertaining to the issue, but now the same problem is occurring.

While driving home from work on the early morning of october 17th 2018, my tie rod end snapped in my vehicle, causing me to go off the county road into a tree head on going 60 mph. i also was not wearing a safety belt so fortunately i am still here to write this. its been a road to recovery and still got a ways to go but this should definitely be looked into so it does not happen to any one else. i understand accidents happen but this is playing with peoples lives if this is a flaw with the vehicle.

The power steering went completely out making it almost impossible to turn car was in motion when it went out. i was able to stressfully get it home off the main road. a few hours later the car was fine and the power steering was back on after some research i found i was not the only one with these issues. if i was traveling any faster this could have caused a accident

The steering wheel material is deteriorating causing the operator to lose contact with the wheel while turning the wheel. the hands either slip off the wheel or catch causing an abrupt stop while controlling the vehicle. this is a safety concern as the material is deteriorating at a rate that the steering wheel will be down to the metal and not provide any protection to the operator and would cause injury.

While driving the vehicle on the highway, the power steering just went out and i was unable to control the vehicle, and then it came back momentarily, and then went out again a little later. thankfully it did not cause an accident, but now i haven't had power steering in over 4 months and it's starting to cause nerve damage in my arms and hands from the constant stress to drive, and when i called the dealership i was quoted an astronomical amount just to look at car to get diagnosis.

Upon driving the power steering locked up and lights flashed with a ding. the esc light is on and the dash is prompting "power steering" and "service esc" this has made driving and turning difficult. car is now parked until it can go to a repair shop. after the first incident i was able to put the car in park and restart which allowed me to drive without an issue. the next day it progressed to everytime i start the car and attempt to turn the power steering locks up and the warnings flash.

My electronic power steering will stop working and the check power steering light will come on. if i shut off the car, it will start working, but shakes when at a stop. you can also feel it shaking from left to right while driving. this has happened numerous times and in numerous situations. please add this to 14v153000

My 2011 malibu has power steering problems that while driving or parked hard to steer and on dashboard service esc and power steering. it will go out and then go back to driving normal back and forth.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the esc warning indicator illuminated and the steering wheel shook. the contact restarted the vehicle, which cleared the failure code each time the failure happened. however, the failure was progressing more frequently. the vehicle was not diagnosed by a dealer. the manufacturer issued one recall and seven tsbs for the steering. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was not available.

Power steering failed while driving. this happened in a curved part of the highway at ~45 mph. was able to make the drive home which was ~2 miles. restarted the car at home and everything worked fine until 5 days later - same problem. service esc and power steering illuminated on dash.

Chevy malibu 2011 steering malfunction. at 130,000 mileage, my electrical steering malfunctioned. the steering locked up while driving forcing it into manual drive. code 15356. my car was under special warranty of 10 years or at 150,000 miles or under. i called the national hotline customer service for gm that spoke with a dealership of choice to fix it at no cost.

Steering wheel shakes when stopped at idle and shakes slightly when driving, after starting the engine the power steering some times does not work and service esc message appears. i can turn off the engine and restart it and everything works but wheel still shakes.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a loss of power steering. the power steering and esc warning indicators illuminated. the dealer was not contacted. the manufacturer was notified of the failure and stated that the vin was involved in special coverage number: 15356; however, the vehicle no longer met the stipulations for the recall because it exceeded the mileage requirement. the failure mileage was approximately 162,000.

On 02/19/2018 while stopped at a red light my 2011 malibu's steering wheel began to move right and left (oscillating) by itself. i pulled into the nearest parking lot of a local store and noticed i no longer had any power assist for the steering and my information console screen light up with a power steering failure. i shut the car off and waited 10 minutes, restarted and the power assist returned, the console light went out. however the steering wheel still pulses back and forth by itself, so the problem, i feel, could return at any time. i had a heart attack recently and physically cannot steer the car without power assist, this was very stressful for me, i am afraid now to drive this thing in it's current condition. i researched this and it is a very common problem with chevy malibus, i feel this is an extremely dangerous issue with this model and could easily result in a needless death, i hope general motors fixes this problem, please add our vin to the current recall campaign #14v153000. thank you sincerely [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

There is a problem with the steering torque sensor in my vehicle that causes my vehicle to lose power steering. the problem starts as soon as i turn on the vehicle.i was never notified of the special coverage adjustment for the power steering torque sensor in my vehicle. the problem started happening well before i reached the 150,000 mileage limit and i started taking my vehicles to shops for pricing of the issue. i was notified by one of the shops i took my vehicle to that there was this special coverage adjustment and that i should take my vehicle to my dealer. i did this but the dealer stated that they would not honor the special coverage due to my vehicle being 700 miles over the mileage limit. i also contacted my manufacturer and complained about not receiving this notification, however, the manufacturer continues to deny honoring the coverage due to my vehicle being 700 miles over. i explained to them that i had proof that i was trying to get the issue rectified at other body shops before i was over the mileage limit, however, there was still no assistance.

I was driving on the the and the power steering, locked up. i reached out to na dealer ship and they corrected that problem and my seat belt. the next day 2/10/2018. the car slowed down to maybe 8miles while i was driving, and enough power to the engine. very danger, very danger. thank god the car behind me was paying attention. i have had this car for 3 years. i myself came out of pocket for wiring problems. car just stopping on the hyw, no power at all. i replaced that. this is a very dangerous car to be on the road. i know cars have issues. but all this 3 years and just stopping and slowing down is and will be the death of others. chevy is supposed to be one of the best car making, but this is horrible. and a lot people from what i read are having issues. this very dangerous.

I was driving down the road when my power steering went out. i took my car into the dealership and they said that it doesnt have a recall. they said that the steering wheel torqe sensor is out and needs replaced.

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the service esc warning indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to paddock chevrolet (3232 delaware ave, kenmore, ny); however, the contact declined to have the vehicle diagnosed. the dealer stated that if the failure was not related to nhtsa campaign number: 14v153000 (steering), she would have to pay out of pocket for the diagnostic cost. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 85,000.

Loss of electric power steering i have recently lost my electric powering steering and the esc warning as well as the power steering warning keep displaying, when this started i thought it was just a power glitch because the air bag and other warning indicators would also go off randomly while driving it first happened which scared me and i slowed my vehicle until i could finally pull in somewhere safely (my rear tire pressure sensors are constantly not reading at all which started about a month after i had new tires put on it but that was the only notification i was getting up until now). i thought most of it was due to the extremely cold weather and restarting my car took care of the problem, and i wouldn't have any problems with it again for a little while. however this week restarting my car hasn't helped and now i have no power steering at all which is extremely dangerous when turning my vehicle and given that there is still less than 85k total miles on it then i am surprised that i am even having this issue at all, but i did read that some of the 2011 malibu's have a recall on the u-joints, i believe that i read. i just found were there is currently 2 recalls on my car now and i have never had to do a recall therefore i was trying to figure that out and what i would need to do for that, as well as report the electric power steering issue too. any information that you may have pertaining to this issue would be very appreciated since i did not see my car listed for the power steering recall then i'm not sure if i have to file a complaint first and/or if they will contact me when/if it is included with those recalls? thank you again!

Tl* the contact owns a 2011 chevrolet malibu. while the contact's stepdaughter was driving 15-20 mph, the power steering failed. the contact stated that it was difficult to maneuver the vehicle. the vehicle was taken to crossroads chevrolet cadillac of joplin (4630 e 32nd st, joplin, mo 64804, (417) 626-6620) to be diagnosed. there were no recalls associated with the vin. the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 14e044000 (steering). the approximate failure mileage was 116,000.
