Service esc, service traction control, service air bags, brake lights on when pedal not pressed and not on when pedal is pressed and cruise control doesn't work periodically. these message appear off and on while driving. i have had the sensor under the brake pedal replaced twice now. last time 14 months ago so no longer under warranty and needs replaced again.
While driving my car on the highway out of nowhere power engine reduced would come up on the dash and would not accelerate and transmission and traction warning lights would show on dash as well also power steering show on dash and the car jerk a little and the speedometer and fuel hand wouldn't move
While driving the car the traction control light comes on and the message "service traction control" displays intermittently while driving. this problem is part of a recall in 2014 that also stated that the brake lights may or may not work. i got a follow notice that stated that even though they fixed the problem the "brake " light issue could come back and they would fix it for up to 10 years. chevy states that the traction control light is a different issue and has nothing to do with the recall.
Out of no where my car started shaking i was in the heat with my daughter it said service esc/service trac. i have had many people look at it, i've had them test everything but nothing seems to help it didn't do it for awhile then i left my car on with the a/c while picking up my daughter we were sitting in the heat outside her school she only 2 and complain how hot it is while i'm trying see if i can fix it. this has happened multiple times out of no where in the middle of traffic.
Service traction control, service esc, lights come on as driving. lighted up on information pane. second time this is happened. took to dealer last time they did some reset and charged $75.
My tail lights come on without pressing the pedal and they do not come on, when the pedal is pressed. very, very close to being rear ended. all roads and at all speeds. cruise control is also affected. esc light has come on. very dangerous situation. nhtsa says there is a recall, chevrolet says there is not.
Takata recall my seat-belt light stays on when i have my seat-belt on, my esc light keeps blinking as well as my traction control light. my brake lights stay on while i am driving and go off when i brake.
I left my driveway early in the morning. after going down my residential street, i went to turn my car to the left and the power steering went out. on my dash the meassage "esc service power steering appeared". after turning my car off for a few seconds, i turned the car back on and the power steering was back to normal, and the message was gone from my dash. after doing some research i see there has been a recall on the chevrolet malibu for this problem, however my car's vin is not included in it even though it is having the same problem with power steering.
Headlights won't work brand new lightbulbs dashboard lights dim is outcontrol transaction turns on brake light turns on without touching the brakes they basically stay on and more
There are alerts about the power steering and the service esc on the dash when i turn on the car. sometimes when i start the car the steering wheel shakes and jerks, without my control. this affects my driving abilities and is a clear danger. the steering wheel shakes the most when i am stopped, but it shakes the entire time i am driving the vehicle. the other times i start the car, the power steering alerts come on and there is no power steering and i have to steer manually. this problem started slowly; originally the wheel shook but not as violently as it does now. over the past couple weeks it has gotten worse, and recently the power steering has gone out when i've started. before i could just restart my car and the power steering would work, but now the more i restart the car the less likely the steering will work properly. this problem started in january but intensified in march.
Takata recall while driving on a city street my steering locked up and light came on the steering would not work ivoq n n n n 35 v n n
While driving on busy highway the power steering light and esc light comes on and there was loss of power steering. it became very hard for my daughter to turn the wheel. after stopping and turning off engine, she restarted and got the power steering back but the steering wheel vibrated and moved on it's own. later that week the power steering went out while driving down the highway and it has not come back. i'm thankful she wasn't hurt and the numbers of the exact same complaint on this car is getting ridiculous. the manufacturers need to step up and do the right thing.
My vehicle has been giving me issues for the past month or two with the ecs traction light that keeps coming on . i have had it in the shop on and off and they keep replacing sensors and nothing helps. it almost feels like the engine is missing when the light comes. on. the car acts like it is in slow motion and it cut off on me stopped at a redlight. nothing would turn on i was almost hit by cars that were coming behind me. nothing came on at all no lights it would not turn over. apparently all malibu's are having this same issue since 2005 models up to 2015 models. it appears it is the cam line that needs to be replaced mine is broken and the wires are frayed according to the code that is being put out. this should have become a recall for all of these malibu's. a life or really bad accident could occur. i was told that chevrolet does not know how to fix this that is why there is no recall. to repair this if it is repairable could be in the thousands of dollars. i wont pay it i will trade my car in for a foreign vehicle. i have always been a chevrolet person but not anymore. i feel let down that no one is listening and this is a safety issue. thank you
Esc light comes on and off and the steering wheel locks
The car was working fine until one morningi got a message as i was driving up a hill that the engine power was reduced and the esc was active. the car began to shake and would not accelerate over 20mph
Two days ago my husband, two children and i were driving at about 40-45 mph when our 2010 chevy malibu drastically slowed down and wouldn't accelerate with the gas pedal pressed all the way to the floor. at the same time service esc, service traction and engine power reduced illuminated on our dash. thankfully we were able to coast into a gas station. after turning the car off and on again, checking under the hood and sitting for over 30 minutes the problem still persisted. the car would not accelerate at all. we had to have a tow truck come get the car and bring it to the chevy dealership. today we received a call from the delearship saying we needed to replace the throttle body and it would cost $630. this doesn't make sense as the car has only 13,000 miles on it and has been very well taken care of. i put the vin into the recall database and the only recall attached to our vin is the brake lamp malfunction. this is very dangerous and should be looked into by the manufacturer.
Pulled out of car wash and onto the highway (speed limit is only 40) through town, power steering went out and light began displaying with audible sound as well as service esc. the mileage on my vehicle is 150,760 when this occurred. there is currently a bulletin published referencing this problem (15356) in which it appears to only warrant a repair at manufacturer cost if 150,000 miles/ten years. from reading online forums, i am not the only one to "just" miss the failure and manufacturer reimbursement. this is dangerous and should be addressed no matter the mileage.
My car currently has the engine light on and will suddenly slow down and shake violently. the reading on the dash says low traction ecs off and then flashed engine power reduced. i have taken my car to several mechanics and they can not figure out what the problem is. i am currently spending money to fix several different things and none of them are working. i have read many forums where chevy owners are having the same problem but yet there is no recall. this is a major safety issue when driving on a highway and then all of a sudden your car slows down suddenly and significantly. my car has slowed while i was idle, driving on the street, and driving on the highway.
Malibu suddenly flashed service esc/ esc off/ power steering. all steering controls of the vehicle were lost. car must be steered manually. after turning car off, all lights and messages disappear and power steering works for approximately 2-3 miles before same messages appear and power steering is lost again. i contacted local chevrolet service department where they looked up all recalls on my car and stated there were two recalls, neither of which were related to my issue. they were uncertain of reasoning for loss of power steering but have had several similar complaints on several different year of malibu.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving, the front passenger side head lamp failed to illuminate. in addition, the electronic stability control warning indicator illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was taken to flag chevrolet (1000 e belvidere rd, grayslake, il 60030). the contact was unaware of the dealer's diagnosis; however, the head lamp was replaced. the contact mentioned that the head lamp failure recurred. the manufacturer was not notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 99,000.
When i started my vehicle, an indicator light immediately reported a need to service my esc and my power steering was disabled. after restarting the vehicle, it seemed to correct itself. now, when driving, my steering wheel vibrates when there is no torque applied to the wheel and makes a chattering noise periodically. this has been going on for a week now.
Takata recall. this recall has been closed, but the problem persists. gm was said to have fixed the problem in may,2014. vehicle has been taken in after the recall date, and told its closed. problem still occurs, not fixed. told by chevy that if there is more repairs to be done, it is not covered by recall and i will have to pay out of pocket. same problem it had before but the bcm was never replaced. i was driving and lost all power steering. warning came across stated power steering & service esc. had to stop, shut off engine, start car, problem went away for 2 minutes and happened again. i had my daughter with me at the time. scary.
I was driving on the highway when esc light came on and completely lost power steering on the highway where there was snow and ice. had to pull of to the side of the road almost getting into an accident.
Service esc, service traction, picture of car skidding, tires need air and picture of tire that looks flat keeps coming up on my panel. this never happened prior to having new tires and brakes put on my car at hendrix chevrolet in durham, nc. i only have 40+ thousand miles on my car. at 20,000 my right front rotar and brakes had to be replace because it was roaring and i literally had to have it towed to my home. i bought the car new when my son worked at hendrix (thought it was a good idea). he wasn't working there when this happened but he fixed it and then hendrix said they could not reimburse me because he wasn't a current employee. i love my car but have had nothing but problems with it! please let me know what to do to get the first issues i mentioned corrected! i'm getting different answers from everyone i talk too. i see many people on the internet are complaining of the same problem with their malibu as well!
Engine power reduced while i was driving into my daughters school.
Brake lights come on while driving and go off when the brake pedal is depressed. service esc light and traction control light on as well. unsure if related.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving at an unknown speed, the reduce power, check engine, and esc service traction indicators illuminated intermittently. the vehicle was taken to an unknown independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the throttle box, idle control sensor, module control sensor, throttle position sensor, oxygen control sensor, and the transmission control module needed to be repaired. the dealer was not contacted. the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 173,000.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. after a complete stop with the accelerator pedal depressed, the vehicle failed to accelerate without warning. the vehicle was taken to a local independent mechanic, but could not be diagnosed due to no warning sensors. a day later, an unknown indicator illuminated. the vehicle was taken to an independent auto shop where it was confirmed that the transmission failed and needed to be replaced. the mechanic recommended the vehicle be taken to a transmission independent dealer. the contact called a local dealer (don brown chevrolet, 2244 s kings highway blvd, st. louis, mo, 63110) where it was determined that the vehicle was not under warranty. no further assistance was offered. the vehicle was taken to the independent mechanic and the transmission was rebuilt. the manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 8-3433690388. the dealer could not assist and referred the contact to nhtsa. the failure mileage was approximately 65,505.
In 2014 there was a recall involving the esc system. my vehicle would have issues shifting from park to drive, brake lights would not work when the peddle was pushed and the brake lights would be on when you would take your foot off the brake. my vehicle was "fixed" and was working properly for a period of time. my car now, once again, has the service esc and traction control off warnings coming on in my vehicle and the brake lights are not working properly. when the brake pedal is pushed down the brake lights do not work. when the pedal is released my brake lights come on. currently there is no recall for this. this would happen when i was simply braking for a light. my brakes work just not the lights to warn other drivers that i am applying my brakes.
The vechile lost speed as i was driving into a parking space. i then put it in park. at that point the engine light was blinking. the car was shaking uncontrollably as if it would all just fall apart in pieces. the steering wheel was hard to turn and also rapidly shaking. the service esc, service traction control, and a light with a car on a curved road was also on. this almost caused me to hit a parked car in front of me. i turned the car off and then back on and all the lights were off. i believe it to be the streering coloumn or an electrial issue. i read on some recalls and i think it is similar to the recall #14e044000. however, when i search my vin it is not listed under it. yet it is the same issue.
My car brakes lights keep going off and my chevrolet malibu 2010 car hesitates when driving .
While in motion, my 2010 chevy malibu ltz has been intermittently giving me a "service traction" "esc off" notice and the cruise control is also working intermittently.
My esc light is giving me a failure warning
The brake lights illuminate without the brake pedal being pushed; the brake lights to not illuminate when the pedal is pushed; difficulty engaging and disengaging the cruise control; disablement of crash the traction control, electronic stability control.
Esc,traction, abs lights come on while car is moving, and when first starting, a trouble code c0131 has been recorded. the problem started in june of 2010. a week after we got the car, the dealer changed brake lite switch, the car has been back to shop 15-20 times it is now 8-9-2017 no one can fix problem, made calls to gm costomer service many times over the 7 years, still no fix, gm wants us to pay for repair and diagnostic as too the car is out of warranty ,we feel gm should repair the car free of charge as to this is dangerous and has never been fixed ,
The esc and traction warning lights came on. esc not working so i was very very cautious driving. i took to dealer. $1200 + to replace 2 computer modules for brakes, steering, traction. this brings number of modules needing replacement to 4 on this vehicle. eight days later, all the same lights came on again plus brake fluid light. called dealer and told to bring car in for diagnostic. i asked about safety and was told to check brake fluid. i said i don't know how. so, i went to car and brake was harder but working. drove to dealer. when i arrived, there is no brake fluid left. lucky i made it to the dealer. was told either part not installed properly or defective part. this was a very dangerous situation that could have cost my life or someone else's life. in researching later, i see a number of complaints about these warning lights and modules. i am lucky there was no incident.
Since i drove this car off the lot in 2010, once every six months or so, this car will suddenly downshift greatly reducing the speed. it is the equivalent of engine braking. it was under an unfixed recall when i purchased it. the dealership, parkway chevrolet, made multiple attempts to fix the problem, but it still persists to this day. given the sudden deceleration that this causes, and the only resolution is to turn the car off and restart it, i feel this problem can cause death to the occupants of the car. the most common time that this happens is when the driver is changing lanes and they go over a raised lane marker - one of those little dots separating lanes in the southern states. the last time this happened was two days ago.
The steering wheel started shaking on its own and i would move the wheel and it would stop. it has been doing this for about a month and would have like a ticking noise. this week i was driving to work and the wheel shook again and then it locked and i was unable to move it. i was driving! i got to a red light and it would not move. i turned the car off and turned it back on and the wheel would move again. a light came on and said power steering eps needs attention. it kept happening again and again and it was scary because there was traffic. i had to drive it like that back home because it is not safe to drive especially trying to turn the wheel in corners. that can cause a crash. also, i've always had issues with the sensors on the car. i have had to replace fuses often, different sensor lights come on it keeps saying (abs) and the headlights have to be replaced often because of an electric short.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving 50 mph, the power steering warning indicator illuminated and the electronic stability control warning indicator displayed "off" and the power steering failed. the vehicle was taken to three independent mechanics. the first independent mechanic diagnosed that the failure was an inner tie rod failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the vehicle was then taken to a tire shop where it was diagnosed with a tire rod and sway bar malfunction. the brackets on the sway bar were replaced, but the issue persisted. the vehicle was then taken to a third independent mechanic who diagnosed the vehicle with a possible rack and pinion malfunction. the mechanic informed the contact of a recall and was advised to take the vehicle to a general motor dealer. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 152,000.
The power steering disengages randomly while driving. the resulting extra work required to turn the car, leads a car that is incapable of safe transport by most people. i was on a city street the first time it happened, preparing to get on the interstate. the problem is intermittent and may or may not be present each time the car is started.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while driving various speeds, the power steering suddenly failed and the esc, power steering, and traction control warning indicators illuminated. the contact had to restart the vehicle in order for all systems to return to normal. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired and the failure recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that, due to the mileage on the vehicle, the repair would not be covered. the approximate failure mileage was 172,360. updated 05/30/17*lj the consumer stated the vehicle failed on multiple occasions. the consumer stated the repair too expensive. the consumer believes the failure should be a safety recall. updated 08/07/2017 *js
On march 1, 2017 at 28981 miles, the airbag light came on, (not the first time). the next day, the stability control and the abs lights both also came on. in both occasions the car was moving at about 40 mph on a city street. i took it to the dealer, they charged me $153 to get a diagnosis.they wanted another $850 to have it fixed. i took it to another shop that did it for $190. these were 2 separate problems, one was the airbag light (a connection under the front passenger seat), and the other was a sensor in the left front wheel (the stability/abs light).
At first, when starting vehicle, dic would display service esc and power steering. turning vehicle off and back on would usually clear the problem, however, while driving in a straight line, the steering wheel would randomly start moving an inch or so to the left and right. after a couple of days, while traveling at highway speeds, the service esc and power steering messages would display again, and power steering was lost. this started happening more frequently to the point where i can't complete a trip without the power steering dropping out. research shows gm is aware of the problem, and my vehicle will be fixed under gm special coverage 15356, since i am under 150,000 miles. however, i feel this is happening to enough to warrant a general recall.
The electronic stability control and traction control feature malfunctions and shuts off every time i drive the car. also, the brake lights do not turn on when i apply the brakes with normal pressure. the brake lights do turn on only if a very great abnormal amount of pressure is applied to the brake pedal. also, occasionally the brake lights turn on when i do not push the brake pedal at all.
Ecslight come on and then you lose power steering and get a error saying power steering if you turn car off and make on it again light goes off and the power steering comes back car was on highway this as happened multiple time in the last two sats
Esc light is coming on and the steering wheel locks up and won't turn while driving and also while parked. shutting off car then turning back on sometimes resets it but the steering column is also vibrating and almost feels as the steering wheel is going to fall off. steering wheel is also twitching even while at a stop. my vehicle has been very well taken care of, all oil changes done on time snd regular maintaince.
Brake lights stay illuminated while driving and turns off when brake pedal is engaged. it is also illuminated while the car is running and while idling in park. this happens on a daily basis. there has been no resolution to this issue despite being assessed by a technician on numerous occasions. the esc and traction control lights on cluster constantly stays illuminated as well as the tire sensor indicator. the cruise control malfunctions too. no one ever knows how to repair these issues. i do not have the funds to put into this vehicle any longer. i am afraid to drive this vehicle every time i get in it. it is a danger to all on the roadways when a vehicle's brake system fails in any way. i have no other choice as this is the only vehicle my family owns at this time. from what i have read, gm has multiple vehicles in operation with the same issues. what makes it so bad, the problems date back as far as 2004. how do you keep producing cars with the same issues year after year? are there no repercussions? please help.
We own a 2010 chevrolet malibu ltz, we have taken it to the dealer to perform a recall for the brake lights coming on by their self and staying on till you touch the brake, then they will go off for 6 seconds then come on again. we took back to the dealer to look at it again and they said it was brake light switch this time. i have read that other people have changed the brake light switch and still had the problem. i also read that the bcm needed to be replaced to correct this problem after the recall was done. the dealer put some dielectric silicone grease on the connector as a band-aid on the real problem. i assume if the bcm needs to be replaced that would cost gm to much money. i know that a lot of people are having this problem and believe it has been going on since 2004 on many different models. please help us.
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet malibu. while the vehicle was stationary, the air bag indicator illuminated without warning and "service air bag" appeared on the instrument panel. in addition, the electronic stability control indicator remained illuminated. the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. the failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
My service esc/traction light comes on and the brakes comes o without being pressed, this doesn't happen all the time. i have had it looked at and the mechanic couldn't find anything wrong. i have researched my vin and there are no recalls, however i have noticed that the brake issue has been recalled on malibu's before. the brake comes on randomly while i am driving so does the esc light, on various surfaces. *tr
