The traction control warning light came on then i noticed the brake light would go on when i pressed the gas pedal and the brake light would go off when i pressed the brake pedal.
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the brake lights remained illuminated whenever the vehicle was driven and stopped illuminating when the brakes were applied. the contact also stated that after having the brakes, rotors, and calibers replaced at the dealer, the failure occurred. the vehicle was repaired because the dealer stated that moisture was penetrating the brake system. the contact spoke with the dealer and was informed that the failure was not covered under the extended warranty. the vehicle had not been inspected. the failure and current mileages were 41,000.
I have to change head lights 3 times. only can take to dealer ($150.00). when having tires replaces and brakes. the abs/esc/traction control alarms lights stays on while driving. i contact chevrolet now for last three years. i was told because my car is out warranty they will not approval repair. i recently taken car to dealer recall # 13036. that my car would be approval for loaner. chevrolet/ dealer. all warranty have expires that would not approval for repairs there's no one to bill or pay for repairs and loaner. i will be taken this public. as a consumers and would like to stay a purchaser of gm/chevy to warn everyone of their practices. *tr
Driving car and the brake light came on. then the check brake fluid warning came on. then the service esc came on. took it to dealer on monday morning they say the master cylinder and brake booster are both faulty and need to be replaced at a cost of $1056.00. i just purchased this car from cox chevrolet on may 2 2015. this seems to be a much to common a problem for the car at only 53000 miles. has to be a slow leak that was already a problem at the time of purchase. so far no satisfaction with cost of repair from dealership.
My service seat belt sign goes on occasionally when i start car, but goes off if i shut off car and restart it. the dealer said they cannot test it if the sign on dash is not on. also, i had to replace rear brakes and grind rotors at 37,000 miles-seems kind of premature. now i am having some kind of possible electrical draw since my old and brand new battery have gone dead. has anyone else experienced these problems? *tr
The vehicle began to display a "service traction/esc" message on the hud. brake lights would come on randomly and stay on, sometimes for minutes, sometimes for hours. as a result of brake lights being on, cruise control was not functional. had a sensor replaced which temporarily resolved the issue. the problem has returned 53 weeks and 17,000 miles later. *tr
If cruise is engaged, sometimes it will just turn off. this is accompanied by constant brake lights even when the brakes are not pressed. other times, the cruise will not engage and the brake lights will be illuminated constantly. usually this occurs along with an error message regarding the est stability system on the car. usually after turning the vehicle off everything works again. *tr
I own a 2009 chevrolet malibu. when driving at various speeds, the service traction, service esc and esc off warning lamps illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician advised that the body control module was defective and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 67,000 plus. when my foot is on the brake the brake lights go off. upon taking foot off the brake the brake lights stay on. *tr
Backing out of my drive way the left front brake caliper locked up and would not release the rotor. under warranty the dealer replaced the rotor, caliper, flexible hose and pads. the car would move forward but felt like the brakes were applied. after a short distance the rotor heated up and was smoking. this same thing occurred again on 9/24/2012. mileage at that time was 37900. dealer currently has the car and is trying to duplicate the problem. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the traction control and electronic stability control lights began to illuminate intermittently. the cruise control feature then failed. the brake indicator also failed, as it indicated that the vehicle was braking when it was not. the indicator also displayed a message that the vehicle was not braking when the brakes were applied. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle had not been repaired. the failure mileage was 36,000 and the current mileage was 37,000.
My brake light would come on for no apparent reason then goes off when i touch my brakes. this has happened at least 6 times that i know of. also, my stability control light comes on once every couple of months and said it needs maintenance. when i call the dealership and the run my vin they say my car is not listed. *js
While driving down the road the brake lights turn on. if i touch the breaks they go off. this happens most often when it rains, snows or if driving with the air conditioning on. the cruise control stops working at the same time. i have had this into a local dealership on three occasions where i have been told "we have to experience this in order to correct it." i am aware that many other malibu vehicles experience this as there have been rumors of this becoming a recall for many months. this has been going on for a couple years for my car and i was under warranty when i had it in and not corrected. i try not to think about it now that it is out of warranty, but because i am expecting my first child and this is a safety concern i am becoming more worried. what will it take to get this corrected? how could they prove that the brake lights didn't come on when someone stopped to turn and then was hit? please help! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the brake light illuminated when the brake pedal was not depressed and failed to illuminate when the brake pedal was depressed. in addition, the contact stated that the esc traction control and the cruise control independently disengaged. the contact also mentioned that the vehicle would hesitate when shifting gears. the failure occurred intermittently. the vehicle was not repaired. the contact stated that nhtsa campaign: 14v252000 (brakes, exterior lighting, electronic stability control) exceeded a reasonable amount for the recall repair. the dealer stated that the part was not available. the manufacturer was made aware of the delay. the contact had experienced the failure. the failure mileage was 30,000 and the currently mileage was 90,000.
Brake lights come one when driving and brake pedal is not pressed. brake lights go off when brakes are pressed. been to the dealer 3 times and they put some gel on the bcm connection as per a safety bulletin from gm . it fixed problem for a week . problem has returned 4 times now . i think nhtsa should take my car to the test track and prove that a safety recall should be made on this vehicle. nhtsa did once prior take my chevy tahoe 1997 to the test track and proved that gm had indeed had an electronic issue. so please come get my car and test the brake light switch or bcm . it is unsafe and thousands have complained about the same item on the internet . i indicate in the form the first time it happened , it has never worked for a long period of time matter of facti took it to service facility today 7/24/17 again :[xxx]. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I bought this car in june 2010 and the first thing to happen was the battery exploded in 09/2010. a few months later a my car was broken into because i did not realize that when i lock my doors that all locks but 1. the next thing that happend was the front head light shorted out, not the actual head light but the socket that the light goes into and that happend around 03/2012. around january 2013 i was stopped beside my daughter school and a man pulled over and told me that my brake lights had been on for a few miles. i did not realize this and could not see this unless i was driving at night. i rarely drive at night but when i was driving at night i noticed when you get to a certain speed the brake lights will come on and and then go off if you tap the brake and then come back on and stay on until whenever they decide to go off. sometimes they will be on when you crank up the car. it concerns me because what if they brake light fail all together. it seems like there is some kind of eletrical malfuntion with this car. i have researched online and find many people have the same issue with lights coming on in the care at sporadic time times as well as the brake light issue. i called gm, they took the info but offered no assistance. i really believe a recall or some type of investigation should be done on this. i know people that have gotten behind the same car i drive and they see they brake lights continously on like my car. this is very dangerous. *tr
2009 malibu brake lights stay on while driving then when i press my brakes the lights would go off no one knew when i was using my brakes. this was brought to my attention when i was on a major hwy/speed limit 70 mph when all of a sudden traffic was stopping. the cars behind me were coming at a high speed, but luckily the car directly behind me just short of crashing into my rear missed me. . he got out of his car while the traffic was stopped and approached me to let me know i had no break lights and he also noticed that prior to stopping my break lights were on. in the meantime i had warnings pop up on my car service traction/esc service. well of course, my car was taken to a shop where it showed a break switch needed to be replaced and switch brake needed to be calibrated by the dealership. the car was taken to the dealership and the break switch failed when they performed brake position calibration. the gentlemen said that the switch could be bad even thou it was a new one that was purchased from the dealership. they replaced it again and re-calibrated and afterwards said everything works well. within two weeks the problem with breaks are still there. there is a major problem we have with the 2009 malibu. i?m just lucky i?m still alive. what upsets me the most is the problem is there, but dealerships want to keep replacing parts and charging you $$$$ for something that needs to be recalled before someone gets killed! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2009 chevrolet malibu. the contact stated that the brake lights had an intermittent short circuit. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that the brake pedal actuator needed to be adjusted twice; however, the failure recurred. the power locks failed and don't work from the inside of the vehicle. the contact was not included in nhtsa recall campaign number: 14v252000 (electrical system , electronic stability control , exterior lighting , service brakes, hydraulic , vehicle speed control). the vehicle was scheduled to be inspected and repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 10,000. updated 09/16/14*lj the consumer stated he believes the bcm is faulty beyond a bad connection; causing the power locks to malfunction. updated 1/15/15*js
The brake lights come on without pressing the brake pedal. when you push on the pedal the lights go out. while on the speed control will not work. several other issues with the bcm. gm announced a recall on this vehicle on may 15, 2014 but the nhtsa website letter on that date letter nvs-215ks / 14v-252 stated that gm must notify the owners within 60 days. it has been 60 days and there has not been a notification. this issue has been in the shop under warranty approx. 5 times and i have had to also repair the same issue. now the car is not drive able because if i place it in park it will not go in reverse. this is also due to the same bcm problem. if they (gm) has 60 days, why have they not recalled this vehicle? i took it to the gm dealer and gave them the recall number found on the internet and was told they have no information about it. how can i get this information but their own dealers can't. *tr
On september 14, 2008 at approximately 12:30 am, the car i was driving suddenly went into a skid after which i aggressively deployed the brakes when the airbags deployed leaving me unconscious and not in control of the car. the car then hit the barrier and then a parked disabled car at a high speed. i was injured and the driver of the parked car was fatally killed. i went to prison for five years because no one would believe my story. *tr
Airbags deployed when i hit the brakes in 2008.
