Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the reduced engine power warning lamp and the service stability traction control warning lamp illuminated. each time the failure recurred, the speed decreased to less than 20 mph and the vehicle shook and vibrated abnormally. the vehicle was towed to a dealer who replaced the throttle body position sensor. the manufacturer stated that the accelerator pedal position sensor was to be replaced in a special condition coverage customer satisfaction campaign. the failure did not recur from the dealer's repair which was over a year ago. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the approximate failure mileage was 60,700. *cn
My impala keeps giving me a warning light that say service stabilitrak, service traction control and engine power reduced. it stay on for a little while and then goes off. cannot seem to find out why it is doing this but very concerned that my cars speed will reduce while i am in traffic. *tr
This has been happening at least once a week for the last 2 months. i go to start my car in the morning and it has the check engine light on and traction control light and is giving me messages of engine power is reduced, service traction control, service stabilitrak. the car still drives when this is on, but its really doggie, and shifts hard. *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the vehicle stalled as the check engine warning light illuminated. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the evaporator vent needed to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 76,964 and the current mileage was 78,968.
Every other week or so i get the "engine power reduced/ service stabiltrack/ service traction control" and the car will loose power. after an hour or so of sitting with the car off, it resets and the check engine light stays on until that eventually also resets. today i was driving the same trouble codes came on and the car completely lost power i had no ability to accelerate, the power steering was disengaged it also mentioned something about the throttle body this time. luckily i pulled into a nearby parking lot and the car reset after sitting for about an hour. this warning light and the reduced engine power has been an ongoing issue but i never lost complete power to the engine and steering light until today. this is an unacceptable issue that is ongoing with many gm owners. there needs to be a recall immediately! *tr
The check engine light came in, then the stabilitrak light came on, then engine power reduced car stopped in the middle of traffic, could have been fatal. waited car powered back on. a known issue in this model. *tr
After wet wear her stability light message, traction control comes on while driving as does engine power reduced message power is reduced and vehicle dies if you do not pull over and turn it off and bck on. this is a very dangerous and expensive problem which gm is aware of and could cause serious injuries if not dealt with. *tr
While going onto the highway the light on dash board lit up stating traction control appear then 2 seconds later the reduce engine power appeared causing the car speed to cease while on the highway luckily it was not rush hour if so there would have been an a fatal accident and luckily i was able to coast to the sided of the road. *tr
At the time of the first incident traction control light came on the low engine power light came on .speed dropped down to 15 mph. had to pull over turn car off . then restarted it again it was fine for a month . it repeated same problem. now check engine light stays on .hdhad code read saying throttle cable and traction control.to me that is a serious issue. this is something that needs to be addressed. highway driving this problem could cause an accident .i can see this has been a issue with general motors with impalas and other models since 2008.how many of the same complaints would it take until its fixed .complaints keep coming up after throttle bodies replaced still having same problems. general motors needs to get with the program. *tr
2010 chevy impala. consumer writes in regards to vehicle engine problems. *smd the consumer stated while driving home, the traction control and check engine light illuminated. the engine cut off, and the consumer lost power steering. he was able to coast off the road, and after a few minutes, he re-started the engine.
When the incident first occurred, the engine light came on and the dash read "service stabilitrak", "service traction control" and "engine power reduced". it seemed fine when i turned off the car and turned it back on. the next incident didn't happen until a while later, and then it wasn't that bad. a few months later, i was driving back on the highway and the same thing happened, except it said "starting disabled, service throttle" and the car shut off. i pulled over to the side and i was able to restart the car after waiting a few minutes. it was a scary experience. eventually, leading up to today, my car got worse and worse, and eventually it just started turning off at stoplights with the message "starting disabled, service throttle". it starts with the other messages almost as soon as i turn on the car. the engine revs and the car sounds awful. *tr
My car suddenly lost power while driving, no warning. engine light came on that says "service stabilitrak". i was able to pull over safely and after a few moments i could drive again. i previously owned a 2009 impala and this same thing happened! it would have cost $1900 to fix which is why i just decided to upgrade and by another. this appears to be a common problem with this type of vehicle. *tr
Riding along at 70 mph traction control light and check engine light comes on. computer says engine speed is reduced. drove two more miles to pull over safely but car cut off and computer says engine start is disabled and car would not restart until i unhooked battery. not real fun with rush hour in st. lewis.glad i was not [xxx]ended. *tr

I don't remember the exact date, but approximately 2 yrs ago, i began seeing the sequence of messages, "service traction control, service stabilitrak, engine power reduced," and the engine light comes on along with the traction control system light. the car speed was obviously reduced and i couldn't really accelerate. i took the car back to carmax and they said they couldn't find anything and did not know what i was talking about. it happens sporadically, but seemingly always on the interstate while i'm traveling around 65--70 mph. this is very dangerous, and i've been trying to research what needs to be fixed. i do not understand why this is not a recall item. i think this will be the last chevy i purchase! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that while traveling 55 mph, the traction control and check engine warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel as the vehicle stalled. the failure recurred also when using cruise control function at various speeds. the contact took the vehicle to a mechanic and was awaiting diagnosis of the failure. the failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 63,000.
My car is having issues with the service traction control, engine power reduced and will shut down. this has happened to me over 5 times now. i can't even pick up speed after this happens. i was on the highway one time doing about 65 and the car just shut down, i was on an incline/ramp and an 18 wheeler was behind me and i could have been killed. i have taken the car into to get the codes ran but can not seem to get to the root cause. i am thinking about just giving the car back and having it go on my credit. *tr
I own a 2010 impala with what seems to be a wiring problem which causes a huge safety concern. when i google the problem to try and find out what is wrong it seems other people have had this same issue with the impala. the problem causes the car to completely shut down while you are driving down the highway. if you are unable to make it to the side of the road before it shuts off, it just dies right there in the middle of the road with oncoming traffic. first the traction light will come on a couple of times and then your car will say something like shutting down, then it will just turn off. this is very scary. if other people have this problem, isn't it a matter that chevy should have to recall? i can't imagine this is something that happens to most cars, especially when it is only 3 years old. they seem to have a feature that shuts down the power if the car things it is losing control of the tires, but the problem is, the tires are fine but the sensor is messed up. i have read many posts complaining of this same issue. it can't be safe to have cars just shut down right in the middle of the highway. i was almost hit! my daughter was in the car. i was barley in the shoulder as it shut down right as i was pulling onto it. *tr
2nd air injection check & shut off valve has failed for the 3rd time on this vehicle. i contacted a friend of mine at gm and a global technical specialist in the exhaust manifolds/heat shields/sai division of the general motors global propulsion systems stated that there was a corrosion durability concern with this part that resulted in elevated warranty. there is now a improved service pn available that replaces the pn that have been used in my vehicle. i feel that gm should recall these bad parts and refund us for them. each time this part needs to be replaced the cost is over $400 to me. my first replacement part went on 1-30-13 at 46737 miles. the 2nd replacement part went on 7-8-14 at 71368 miles. now the 3rd replacement part needs to go on at 115429 miles. the 1st replacement part cost me $567 to replace at the dealership. the 2nd replacement part cost me $478 to replace at an independent shop. it will cost me the same or a little more to get this replaced for the 3rd time. is there anything that you can do to help me?
Driving at approximately 65 mph ad then all of a sudden the warning lights come on : check stability tracker, reduce power, and the vehicle shuts down. *tr
I was driving to work, nearly at the end of a 50 mile trip, the car was functioning normally with no abnormal noises or indications of problems. i drove the car into the parking lot and was making a slight right turn, traveling at about 15 mph, when suddenly the car screeched to an immediate halt and stalled the engine. the sudden stop was violent and threw me against my seatbelt. i moved the gear selector lever from drive to park and restarted the engine without any trouble. the engine ran smooth and without any unusual noise. i put the car into drive, but it would not move and it made loud grinding and clunking sounds. i put the car in reverse, but still it would not move and again made loud noises. i put the car in neutral and a friend came over to help me push the car to a more safe area, but still the car would not move. apparently the drivetrain was locked up and would not move, no matter what gear position the transmission was in. the car was later dragged on to a flatbed truck and taken to my local auto service center, where they determined the transmission was bad. the vehicle was then towed to my local chevrolet dealer to be fixed under the gm 100,000mi/5 year powertrain warranty. i am very shaken up by this incident and fear what would have happen if the vehicles front wheels would have violently locked up like this at highway speeds. i fear the result would have been a total loss of control of the vehicle and possibly severe injury or even death to myself and others. i hope gm and the nhtsa investigate this incident and find the cause of the transmission failure with the goal of preventing this from happening again before someone gets hurt or killed. *tr
Driving home friday night 12/26/12 on cruise set at 65, bang, car dropped power drastically, kicked off cruise, and the three rotating messages appeared on dash, 1)service stabilitrak, 2)service traction control, & 3)engine power reduced. both orange placards lit up on dash, service engine and traction. pulled out of traffic and re started the car. was able to drive at normal speeds but codes still rotating and placards still lit. couldn't get it into the shop until monday 12/31/12. when i started it up to take it in, codes were all cleared and car ran just fine. dealership told me it was the pedal sensor and would cost me $275 to repair. how can we get gm to do a recall on this on going issue? this is a 2010 chevy impala lt with 45000 on it. this repair should be covered under warranty and i was told it is not. there have been numerous individuals with this same sensor failing at about 45000 miles. a sudden drop in power to a speed of 25 while driving at highway speeds is very dangerous. it is amazing with as many failures as have been reported to gm on just the edmunds car form site alone that there have not been any serious crashes. please take a good look at this issue and see if you can't get gm to recall these sensors and get them replaced with better ones. *tr
The 2010 impala was at hwy speeds at approx 65mph. the traction control light came on and the check engine light and the message display was flashing traction control failure. the lights stayed on. it also said engine at reduced speeds . the traction control failed at hwy speeds which left me coasting to reduced speeds and then the car shut off at 20 mph with no power steering or braking. i was able to coast off the highway into a parking lot off the service road. *tr
I have a low mileage vehicle. i have remained current on all of my routine maintenance. the car recently had the warnings: service traction control and engine power is reduced. i have looked on multiple outlets and saw that this is a common problem with this vehicle. the solution that the dealer gives is varied and coincidentally not covered under warranty. *tr
I was driving and the car shut off. no brakes, no power steering, nothing.....i coasted to the side of the road, put it in park, took the key out of the ignition, put it back in and the car started. now i am scared to put my 5 month old in the car because it is not safe. *tr

I was driving on a rural road at 55 miles per hour in my 2010 impala and it was just a normal activity no excessive turning or driving . my light came on and said to service traction control. then my light said engine power has been reduced. i was trying to get to a safe place to pull off the road an my light came on again and it said it was disengaging the throttle and my car just quit. no power steering no warning just quit and i barely got it off the road in time to keep me from crashing! the car wouldn't start for about ten minutes but finally i got it started and made it home. if i had been on the interstate this could have been tragic ! *tr
Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that power steering fluid had to be continuously added to the vehicle. in addition, the contact was driving at an unknown speed when the traction control and engine warning lights illuminated. the vehicle independently decelerated to 20 mph and stalled. the vehicle was restarted within fifteen minutes. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that power steering fluid was leaking internally and the rack and pinion would need to be replaced. the vehicle was not inspected for the stalling failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 32, 000 and the current mileage was 60,000. *tr
