My car has worked fine scince i bought it with no check engine codes.i pulled into parking space and put car in park, all of a sudden it stalled out and will not crank anymore but has power.key will not come out of ignition and battery will not shut off.the ignition switch is a very common problem with impalas and is very dangerous.it locks people out of there cars, gets stuck in gears, wont let key release, wont start, sets off anti theft signal which cuts power to door locks, trunk, starter, fuelpump, and more.i have read hundreds of forums of this problem with chevy impala that has been going on for years without the problem being fixed.elderly women breaking down on highway or car just shutting off and not restarting.it is soooooo common with chevy that they can diagnose the problem just over the phone.this is very unacceptable and has to be dealt with.please recall this problem.

Started driving car wouldn't go over 5 mph. engine shakes violently. display reads reduced engine power. traction control warning.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. when the contact turned off the vehicle, a loud abnormal, ticking noise was heard. the noise also occurred when the engine was started and lasted at least one minute. there were no warning indicators illuminated. the vehicle was taken to carl black chevrolet (11500 e colonial drive, orlando, fl 32817, 888-449-6517) where it was diagnosed that a new blender actuator needed to be installed. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the failure mileage was 160,000.

Driving uphill & the service stabiltrak & the serice traction control words came on followed by reduce of engine power & the service engine light & traction control light came on. we could still drive at about 20 mph uphill & 45-50 on flat roads. we shut the car off 4 about 2 hrs 2 cool down. but then as soon as we headed up a hill it started all over.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. when the vehicle was shut off, the motor continued to run. classic chevrolet (440-255-5511, located at 6877 center st, mentor, oh 44060) diagnosed that one of four actuators needed to be replaced. the dealer did not specify when the other three actuators would potentially fail. the vehicle was repaired by the dealer. the manufacturer stated that the warranty expired and provided a case number. the manufacturer refused to honor the extended warranty. the approximate failure mileage was 54,000.

I was sitting in the parking lot with my engine running for about 10 mind. all a sudden 'reduced engine power' came across my dash and my service engine light came on. i turned my car off. about an hour later i turned it back on and the message was gone. then as i was driving down the road my service air bag light came on. it only comes on when the passenger seat beat is clicked on. and my driver side back door auto lock stopped working.

The takkata inflator symbol is showing i have took it to several mechanic and they say they can fix the problems. my car jump and stop at time. when i try to start my car it takes like 5 or 6 time before it start. it mostly jump , shakes and that the engine before it starts. the head lights where changes and they still keep going out

2010 chevy impala only has 58,000 miles on it. i've already had been having issues with the car not starting all of the time and now after putting new tires on it, i am driving down the road and get "service stabilitrack," "service traction control," and "engine power reduced." i was on a major highway going about 60 mph and was almost rear-ended due to the sudden loss of speed. i was able to move into a turning lane and get to a parking lot without getting myself killed. i still, however, have to figure out how i'm getting home from work! i had noticed when i first went out that it seemed to be shifting hard, but the roads were wet, so i thought perhaps it was the stabilitrack kicking in, not going out! i have two small children, who thankfully were not with me. the car has been nothing but trouble since i've purchased it. with such low-mileage, i figured i was good to go for awhile. i have a 2003 chevy tahoe with almost 200,000 miles and have not had this many issues out of it!! contacted chevrolet, but am told no recalls have been made. why not?!?!

Car began showing stabilitrak service, traction control service, reduced engine power and shut off while driving on interstate 35, almost causing a major traffic accident , pulled to side of interstate comm center says ingnition disabled car wont do anything when key was turned . i then sat approximatley 5 mins car starts with no codes but check engine light . i cannot have this happening means i drive 40 miles to wrk a day and cant afford to throw parts at the problem as all gm service centers hsve been with no solution

I have a 2010 chevy impala lt with 90k+ miles on it. i originally bought the car in 2011 used with 40k+ miles on it, so the car is no longer covered through warranty. engine power reduced, service stabilitrac, etc. i'm a full time college student, and a full time uber driver. last night i was with a passenger on [xxx] towards o'hare airport. my car reduced speed and suddenly dropped speed from 70mph down to 50mph. as i turned on the emergency light and start steering to the right to get onto the shoulder i was in the third lane to the right (the expressway is 4 lanes) as i was turning to the right to get onto the shoulder and to get to safety my steering locks, and there was a reckless driver going 100mph trying to cut off traffic. the lanes to the left were blocked so he had to cut me off by overtaking me by going onto the shoulder. he damaged his right rearview mirror and probably scrapped the right side of his car pulling off that reckless stunt. had i delayed the breaking for a second i wouldn't be alive making this post today. luckily i turned the car off, waited for a few minutes, turned the car back on and took the nearby [xxx], and waited with my passenger at the nearby target parking lot for the next uber driver to pick up my passenger and get her safely to the airport. had i not acted quickly, my uber passenger would have missed her flight. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. while driving 50 mph, the reduced engine power indicator illuminated. in addition, the vehicle began to jerk and the engine stalled. the vehicle was able to restart. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the throttle body sensor failed and needed to be replaced. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was notified of the failure. the failure mileage was approximately 166,000.

Reduced engine power lights came, on traction control light came, on it was hard to accelerate in the middle of a highway, car almost shut down, but i made it home. it has happened twice on the highway and turnpike. i thought it was oil but that wasn't the issue. it stops (the problems) after i shut the car off for an evening, but i'm scared it will power down while on the highway again. when this issue happens the car beeps, then the traction light comes on with warning and so does the engine light and reduced engine power warning. always in motion, especially higher speeds than normal city streets. such as turnpike and highway.

While driving my impala, with no warning, my car lost power. the dash beeped at me and said reduced engine power, service stalinktrak, service traction control. i had to turn my car off, i waited a few minutes then turned car back on. the car was able to run and drive after this, but my check engine light was on. i had vehicle computer scanned and had a code for throttle position sensor. after further research, i have learned i will need to replace the whole throttle body. my car has now lost power several times and my rpm gauge 'bounces'. i will be parking my car until the part comes in. this was very dangerous as you lose all power with no warning going down the expressway. *tr

I was traveling west bound on interstate 22 when the stabilitrak requires maintenance displayed across driver's information center. next the traction control light and display lights up followed by, reduced engine power, in which i lost almost all power to my vehicle. i was traveling around 70 mph in the left lane and had to navigate two lanes of traffic to reach a safe spot on the shoulder of the interstate.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. while driving 50 mph, the "engine reduce power" indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was repaired, but the issue recurred. the manufacturer was made aware of the issue. the vin was invalid. the failure mileage was 140,000.

The check engine light comes on and it says service stabilitrak reduced power engine. then the car slows, it may jerk, or stall. this has been an ongoing issue. i've taken it to be looked at least 2 or 3 times. i've been told they don't see anything and i should bring the car in to get serviced the light comes on. it usually last a few days but it will come back on. i've also received a letter from chevrolet about fixing it but when i took it to get serviced i was told that it had to be under a certain amount of miles. this is a safety hazard and could cause a potential car accident or even death if traveling at high speeds and then all of a sudden your car engine reduces power. i know this because i've almost been in an accident twice due to this issue.

Major safety issue! while driving on the expressway hours from home reduced engine power/service traction control/check engine lights came on. cruise control disabled as well. car stopped on the expressway, steering wheel locked up. luckily we were able to coast to the side otherwise this could have been a disaster! vehicle was towed to a nearby service station where it is currently located. there are several complaints out there like this. gm needs to recall and fix this problem!

While driving and the car shuts down, when it finally starts the engine light came on, the passenger seat comes on and no one is sitting there. ive had it checked out something about an air mass flow sensor, then the light came on about traction

I was driving and my dash said service traction control engine speed reduced and it slowed down by it self

Engine power reduced...car shuts off in the middle of traffic.

Message says "service stabilitrak" engine powering down". has happened while driving and when first starting. many gm customers have experienced same issue across several years and makes including the traverse.

Driving on a highway, traction control warning came on, then a warning that engine power reduced, the car slowed down from 65 to 0 in about 10 seconds. i was able to pull over to the shoulder to avoid getting hit, and shut the car off. when i tried to restart the car, it would not turn over. i sat there for about 10 minutes and tried to start the car again. i was able to start it and get going again finally, but was very nervous to drive on the highway especially since i had my grandchild in the car with me and cars were behind me. the sudden loss of power to the car could have ended up tragically.

Starting in dec 2014 while driving at random speeds, the 2010 chevy impala will jerk hard and then the traction control light will come on. upon this happening, the reduce engine speed appears in the display as well as service traction control, and service stability. this has been happening with various speeds and various weather conditions. if you pull over and turn car off for about 5 minutes, it will start right back up and engine reduced will no longer be on the display. *tr

My family was driving down the interstate at 70 mph, all of the sudden these messages started to appear on the message center. engine power has been reduced, something about traction control and another message that i can not remember. the car then lost all power, it shut off completely. we did make it over to the "slow" lane, but there we sat on the interstate with traffic all around us. the car would not start!!! need less to my girls and my self were terrified that we would be hit. after about 10 minutes the car did start again and we made it to our destination. the messages are not displaying now, but the engine light is still. i am taking it to the shop today. what will it take before gm does something about this?????? *tr

I was driving my car on the hwy going about 70-75 mph when it happened to me. the road condition was nice with no signs of water on the highway during the hours of 2 pm, great sunny day. the car jerked on me like the throttle was going down. afterwards the car jerked again and the traction light notification started to beep and the car idled down and i couldn't increase my speed. i continued on the hwy assuming it would rectify itself but my girl (who mainly drives the car), informed me it's been doing this for over the past year off and on probably once every other month. that the weather condition didn't matter it would pop up and slow down and she'd have to pull over and wait about 10 minutes after turning off the car to turn it back on to be able to continue about her day normally. i continued to drive but it never did fix itself. i had to finally take an exit and stopped at a gas station. might as well take a break while. after about 10-15 minutes, i cranked the car and the issue seemed to resolve itself and i had no further problems throughout the rest of the day. *tr

While i was tryna to started my car it stay before started & the servicemaster [xxx] on light. this happen on see on occasion. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Driving down busy hwy going 75 speed, engine power reduce message came on also traction control message, i been getting this message over a year in a half took it to a mechanic they couldn't seem to find anything wrong with it, since the message would go away after ten minutes or so i never taught was anything major till my car showed the message starter disabled service throttle came on basically letting me know my car was going to lock on me or something and with a few seconds my speed reduced more and i could not push d gas anymore i had to pull over to the side of the road in disbelief of what just happened and scared so i parked and turned off my car then i tried to turn it on and it wouldn't even start or make a starting noise the steering wheel was locked and i couldn't do anything, i waited at least ten minutes and i tried again and it turned on the message was gone but the check engine was still on. trough the day this incident didn't happen anymore but i went on line and i see a lot of people with the same model car as me are having the same problem!. *tr

Good morning i just would like to say this is my second vehicle from chevy but this vehicle has really placed me in a bad bind. first the airbag light comes on and off for the passed month, next the key becomes stuck in the ignition then it went out had to replace that. traction control light comes on comes over board with message saying," engine power is reduced then message states car shutting down " in the middle of driving . this last time i had my new born grandbaby in the car driving on expressway going 60speed limit car just shut offcars flying pass me i was really terrified for my safety and my grand child. this has occurred off and on since last year. last year i had taken it back to all star chevy in miss.they stated they couldn't find anything cost me a good penny when they stated that the warranty was out. now the car will not start. i have been replacing alot of electrical issues with this car for the last year but this time is the last time my grand baby and myself could have lost our life" now no car to get back and forth to work i have been really patient with chevy with this car i still have all my receipts from aaa fixing this car i refused to spend any more money on this car. i need toknow if this company will help me because a 2010 should not have this much problem. *tr

The traction control light comes on, then you get a message saying the engine power is reduced. then you get a message saying the car is shutting down. this has been happening every once in a while, but now it's a lot more frequent. this saturday i was driving about 60 on a three lane highway with no shoulder/break down lane. the car shut off while i was going up a hill. cars were flying up behind me and swerving to miss me. normally it takes about 5 minutes and you can restart the car. this time it was almost 10 minutes. i had a panic attack sitting there. once the car finally started i drove about 50 feet and it happened again. luckily there was a dunkin donuts there and i coasted into the parking lot. i sat there about 20 minutes so i could catch my breath, stop crying and composed myself. when i went to the dealer about 6 months ago they said it was my gas pedal, and it was going to cost $164. however when you research this on the web, you will see most people who have the gas pedal fixed it happens again. there should really be a recall on this because someone will get into an accident and perhaps get killed. *tr

Traction control light and engine reduce speed light came on and car started stutter and slow down on the highway. replace throttle body twice and replace gas pedal sensor. *tr

Driving to work and i got a display message that said something similar to "stabilitrack repair, engine power reduced" and then the car shut down. no power steering, nothing. i was finally able to stop, but i wasn't able to get off the road and it caused a potentially dangerous situation. i've read online this is a common issue with impala's and something that is a design flaw, as the shutting down of the car is not needed. had i been in traffic, a large car pile up would have resulted. *js
