My car has worked fine scince i bought it with no check engine codes.i pulled into parking space and put car in park, all of a sudden it stalled out and will not crank anymore but has power.key will not come out of ignition and battery will not shut off.the ignition switch is a very common problem with impalas and is very dangerous.it locks people out of there cars, gets stuck in gears, wont let key release, wont start, sets off anti theft signal which cuts power to door locks, trunk, starter, fuelpump, and more.i have read hundreds of forums of this problem with chevy impala that has been going on for years without the problem being fixed.elderly women breaking down on highway or car just shutting off and not restarting.it is soooooo common with chevy that they can diagnose the problem just over the phone.this is very unacceptable and has to be dealt with.please recall this problem.
The abs light on traction control does not work key comes out of the ingiton causeing the car to stall front passenger air bag is turned off
Service air bag light intermittently illuminates and resolves itself. complete failure of instrument cluster and hvac suddenly with engine running. this appears to be consistent with gm recall #36110. contacted gm for further action and was told this vehicle not included with recall despite same issue as described for recall. the airbag light happens with adult front passenger, not while seat is empty, and while vehicle is in motion.
Vehicle will not start. all electrical things work, the lights, dashboard, etc.. but there is no power to starter. this vehicle has 150000 miles on it and has had 6 new batteries installed. the no start issue was believed to be occurring after car was brought through car wash during very cold temps outside, but this is not the issue now. now it starts sometimes and will not start at other times.
The rear window defogger quit working. my shop found that the defogger had lost its ground function in the fuse block in the engine compartment. the fuse block had to be replaced in its entirety costing over 200 dollars. i do not know exactly when the defogger failed.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the vehicle experienced a complete loss of power while driving 65 mph. the failure occurred twice without warning. bob howard chevrolet (13130 broadway ext, oklahoma city, ok) was unable to duplicate the failure. the manufacturer was notified and did not assist since there were no recalls attributed to the vin. the failure mileage was approximately 138,000.
My service airbag sensor light had been on since i purchased my car a year ago, i am going to sell it but i didn't want to sell it with something that has to do with safety being questionable. i drove it to auto nation yesterday june 11th to see if it was a recall. they said there hasn't been one. i drove it home and started searching online for possible problems with it and there were so many posts about this issue. i searched under the passenger seat because that's what i read to do and low and behold all types of wires under it are completely severed and torn up. i was going to fix this myself but i really don't want to be held liable in case of accident or injury. this must be fixed and it's my belief that it's caused by the vehicle design. please hold chevrolet responsible for this repair as it is very dangerous for both the passenger and possibly everyone else in the vehicle. thank you very much for looking into this. i also believe that when a person calls a dealer telling then exactly what they found d (i called lenlyle on colfax and sable in aurora, co. and explained to then my findings and they told me that i would have to pay for this repair. they should direct a person to you guys when something that has to do with safety is found to be defective. this should be a requirement that they contact you dot as well as offer a repair imediately and consider themselves lucky that someone wasn't killed because a person came to them with the problem instead of trying to do the repair themselves.
My wiring on my passenger seat sensor is faulty! it sometimes detects randomly that someones there, when nobody is there and thus turns the airbags on and off constantly. i have to keep the passenger side seat belt buckled, otherwise it will mess up my sensors. i've had my airbags shut off and a notification appear before so it's quite scary and definitely a safety hazard. i know this is a known recall, but i believe since i have a "police package" a recall for my car was never initiated, even though it has the problem.
As i was driving home the car went into shutdown mode. the car would not accelerate and the dashboard cluster read, traction control system failure, and a few other things that i did not get to read because i was watching the road. then the temperature gauge went to the max, and the car was not overheating at all. i shut the car off checked all fluids started the car back up and tried to get going and the car would not accelerate. after a few minutes i managed to get the car back home and a few months later it happens again. i went to edmunds forum and there are dozens of the same complaints for the same thing.
I was driving home from work and i was doing 55 mph,and the car started to hesitate, and the dashboard info read stabilitrac, engine safty mod, and reduced power. then the car started to slow down, and when i tried to give it some gas the engine started to knock, and the temperature gauge went all the way up to the top. i pulled over and shut the car off,and opened the hood, and it wasn't even over heating. after letting it sit for a few minutes i started it up and went about five hundred feet and it did it again.
I was sitting in the parking lot with my engine running for about 10 mind. all a sudden 'reduced engine power' came across my dash and my service engine light came on. i turned my car off. about an hour later i turned it back on and the message was gone. then as i was driving down the road my service air bag light came on. it only comes on when the passenger seat beat is clicked on. and my driver side back door auto lock stopped working.
A recent problem with the rear window defogger has unfolded a problem with a wiring harness that powers the window. gm never installed a fuse on the rear window defogger causing the wire to heat up and burn away the slot it sits in on the wire harness. inspecting my wire harness, the heat from the wire has melted almost entirely through the connector which is very dangerous and likely to cause a fire on the passenger side of the car underneath the carpet and fuse panel.
I have a 2010 chevy impala and it has the airbag issue which it has a recall but when i call chevy they say michael vehicles not affected even though it's has the same exact is shoes with the passenger seat in the wires as the recall. when i call chevy it only shows one recall for the ignition switch and they want to charge me to fix the airbag issue but there's a recall for servings 2009 and 2010 chevy impala
Service airbag light comes on without pushing a code for error.
I have a 2010 chevy impala lt with 90k+ miles on it. i originally bought the car in 2011 used with 40k+ miles on it, so the car is no longer covered through warranty. engine power reduced, service stabilitrac, etc. i'm a full time college student, and a full time uber driver. last night i was with a passenger on [xxx] towards o'hare airport. my car reduced speed and suddenly dropped speed from 70mph down to 50mph. as i turned on the emergency light and start steering to the right to get onto the shoulder i was in the third lane to the right (the expressway is 4 lanes) as i was turning to the right to get onto the shoulder and to get to safety my steering locks, and there was a reckless driver going 100mph trying to cut off traffic. the lanes to the left were blocked so he had to cut me off by overtaking me by going onto the shoulder. he damaged his right rearview mirror and probably scrapped the right side of his car pulling off that reckless stunt. had i delayed the breaking for a second i wouldn't be alive making this post today. luckily i turned the car off, waited for a few minutes, turned the car back on and took the nearby [xxx], and waited with my passenger at the nearby target parking lot for the next uber driver to pick up my passenger and get her safely to the airport. had i not acted quickly, my uber passenger would have missed her flight. parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)
I have 2010 impala it keeps giving me the dashboard message eng power reduced service stupbilty traction control off when it dose this the car will only go 40 mph witch is dangerous on freeway going 75 mph with other traffic
#1 every time i move the drivers seat my airbag light comes on saying that the airbag is disabled. #2 the car's traction will act like i'm on ice (even on a hot 90 degree july day). the traction light comes on and the engine will gear down, to the degree of loss of engine power, power steering, and power braking. this has happened several times while driving long distances on the highways i found recalls pending for these problems and my vin # is not on the list. well i'm telling you now this is very dangerous and very scary. someone is going to get injured or killed!! official nhtsa page concerning recall #16v507000 official nhtsa page concerning recall #14v355000

My impala heating and air condition unit does not work properly and makes clicking noise when i do the following: get in the car, start the car, touch the heating and ac knobs. i was advised by the mechanic that they can't tell me what it would cost but this is a defect in the impala. said that the clicking is because it's trying to catch back to what ever is displaced and keeps trying. i've time this clicking and it goes on for a whole minute. i have a dual system and it appears the passenger said heats when it wants to,..this had been going on in my car for the last 8 months and i would like to know why the company have not taken responsibility for this defect. i would like for the company to take responsibility and recall and help the owners of the awful sound and embarrassing when others get in your car and hear the madness that you have to try and explain. i don't think this help people wanting to buy the car. thanks
Engine power reduced...car shuts off in the middle of traffic.
My ignition key locks at times. i am sure to park straight without turned wheels or cramped. i finally can start the car by twisting the steering wheel and it then locks and finally the key connects. i was told that may be a tumbler problem? just a worry as i am 82 and always on my mind when i travel. one time it did just die as i was driving. happen to be in city where i was able to coast into parking lot. it started up and did fine then. that was scarey!

My 2010 chevrolet impala ignition key is stuck in the ignition, i did get the key fixed under the nhtsa campaign number 14v355000 from a qualified chevrolet repair center. from what i understand, this has become an ever increasing problem. this needs to be a recall. i will be contacting gm corp. along with the nhtsa and will follow up with the information or (excuses) of why this is somehow my problem. this car has only 40,000 miles. it's funny how gm is not simply replacing all ignitions with new keys. this is dangerous and i for one will not let this rest until i'm satisfied, my wife drives this car and unlike gm corp. safety is my number one concern.i'm not a mechanic but i do all general maintenance on our cars and this pisses me off. if noise needs to be made to resolve this, then noise you will hear. the nhtsa needs to put gm's ass in check and call them out on this ignition-electrical issue once and for all. this happened 12/16/2015.
The vehicle was in motion about 45 miles an hr when it began to suddenly lose speed once it stopped i was able to coast it to the light. i cut the car off an it started back up. i didn't understand why it did that so i proceeded to find a near gas station.. it started to run again and i proceeded to go home when it did it again (lost speed while the engine was running) still don't know what the problem is had the alternator and battery checked and both are fine.. this was very dangerous!

The transmission shifter lever is stuck in park and the key is stuck in the ignition switch due to a very poor electrical design. the electrical wires attached to the connector that operates the solenoid that unlocks the transmission shifter button in the park position and that also connects to the ignition switch and operates various functions such as releasing the ignition key and allows the vehicle electrical system to be completely turned off ,breaks off due to electrical wires being too short and the back and forth movement of the shifter . checking the online blogs this is a known issue that has been happening on several gm vehicles for some time without any recalls despite constant customer complaints due to the very poor design. some dealers have suggested leaving the key in the ignition switch and unlocking and locking the vehicle with the key fob. this invites vehicle theft and by not having the electrical system completely turned off, the battery runs down as the accessories and ignition is still turned on and the transmission lights on the instrument panel remains lighted. some customers have had repeat reoccurrences after having the issue repaired at a cost of between $500 and $600. after inspecting the operation of the shifter and the affect it has on the electrical wiring it is obvious that the wiring will fail and in the blogs as early as whilst under warrantee. i am concerned if there are any other issues that may occur especially safety ones as there is 5 wires i do not know the function of each wire . can you please investigate this issue.

Loud ticking sound coming from passenger side vent. i have checked with other owners of chevys who have the same problems going back about 6 yrs+- with impalas and malibu's. there are 3 motors on the passenger side that go bad, when one is fixed then and other two go bad shortly after. the cost range is about $600.00. i have been on the phone with gm and the dealer with no satisfaction. i am told the i have to pay their hourly rate to have this inspected, then the replacement cost. gm should be held accountable for this obvious defect. where can i get help. i am 74yrs old and on a fixed income. please advise!!!! *tr
Twice this week while driving at around 55 mph my traction control and stabilization light came on also the check engine light. and a message that speed is reduced. the car did slow down and felt like my transmission was giving me problems. when i pulled over and stopped the engine the lights went out and the car ran ok it took till the next morning for the check engine light to go out.i took it in for a check up and was told it needed a gas pedal position sensor. i had this replaced at a total cost of $210.00. *tr
