Two under dash actuators needed to be replaced at 31,060 and 39,914 miles. i believe these parts are faulty and need to be recalled. when i contacted chevrolet, case# [xxx], i was advised that recalls are only initiated by your organization. since this is not a safety issue, this is questionable. please advise. 2010 chevrolet impala, information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6). *tr

Key wont turn car off completely, wont come out of ignition, i see where many people have had this same problem with chevy, why no recall? obviously its a problem coming from gm. *tr

Riding along at 70 mph traction control light and check engine light comes on. computer says engine speed is reduced. drove two more miles to pull over safely but car cut off and computer says engine start is disabled and car would not restart until i unhooked battery. not real fun with rush hour in st. lewis.glad i was not [xxx]ended. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that after parking the vehicle, he was unable to remove the key or turn the vehicle off. he eventually disconnected the battery. the vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that wiring in the shifter had become worn and would need to be replaced. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. the failure and current mileage was 47,000.

The battery was showing a lot of corrosion. it was also leaking battery acid. we took the car to a garage in fl. the mechanic said gm had a real problem with this car as they have put the battery too close to the radiator. the battery becomes exceedingly hot and the battery is damaged. i tried to work with gm on this matter, but they held the warranty of 6 years on the battery and when the car was sold to me the battery was only warrantied for 3 years.because i was not sold the battery. gm was. i went to another place to get the battery replaced. the repair man there told me if the battery was not taken care of the battery acid that was leaking could cause a fire in my vehicle. i am hoping you will check into this problem. i have corrected the problem in my car, but there are other cars that have thesame problem and could be detrimental to someone else. thank you for looking into this matter. My key is stuck in the ignition and will not turn back to the off position so i can get the key out. i have to disconnect my battery to keep the battery from draining completely when not in use and reconnect my battery when i need to drive my car, and i cannot lock my car because of this. i feel this is a safety issue because i could get injured while connecting or disconnecting my battery and i cannot secure my car. the passenger air bag indicator is on. it was not on when i purchased this used car but it came on at approximately 70,000 miles. my rear defroster barely works. the speedometer sticks at zero then starts working for a few tenths of a mile then goes back to zero again. i have to guess what speed i am going. the speedometer started malfunctioning at about 68,000 miles. chevrolet refuses to repair any of the above at their expense. stating there is no recall on this vehicle. i have seen numerous complaints about the key getting stuck in the ignition on many models of chevrolet vehicles on the internet. why isn't there a recall on these issues? *tr

purchased by chevy 2010 impala on january 25th of this year and just last night (march 18th around 715pm) on my way home from work just as i was speeding up after getting on the 405 in wa. my check engine light came on, the service stabilitytrac came on, check engine light and there was this other light what looked like to be a picture of the car swerving on ice also came on. my car slowed down, but never cut off. my get up on my car wasn't what it normally it. i was able to make it home from work, but i thought it was weird that my car started to do that. i purchased this car with only a little over 40k miles on it. i checked the owners manual and there is nothing in there about a "service stabilitytrac". i immediately send 2 emails to the gentleman that i work with at the local dealership that i got my car from. it was after hours when i sent the emails, so i have yet to get a response. this morning though, my check engine light was the only thing that came one this morning. i went ahead and drove into work which is about 25miles away from my home and the check engine light stayed on, but yet the other 2 didn't ever come on and there was no problem with accelerating. this is my first ever newer car and i love love love impala's, but i have been reading all the other posts and it concerns me because i'm not rich nor do i have the money or time to fix a problem that wasn't created by me. it's very disappointing to know that with all these postings that gm hasn't stepped in and fixed this problem nor come up with a proactive solution for their customers. *tr

While traveling away from home i parked my car and the key is stuck in the ignition. this is a safety hazard due to i had to leave the keys in the car. the next morning the car would not start due to the battery being drained because the key was not in the off position. therefore i had to be troubled with finding jumper cables while away from home or be towed to the nearest chevrolet dealer (whom i might add did not have a technician that could fix it on a saturday morning). i called another chevrolet dealer in another county close by and their service department is closed on saturday. so therefore i have had to either leave my vehicle running, loosen the battery cables or be close by to another vehicle that can give me a jump. (more inconvenience and safety hazards for a female) i notice while researching the problem online that this problem has occurred on the impala since the year 2000. it is now 2013 and the problem has not been recalled or improved over the years. i feel this not only is an inconvenience to me (your customer) but also is a safety feature that has failed to exceed my expectations of driving a chevrolet vehicle. i expect and hope that my inconvenience can have an impact on chevrolet to not only take care of my problem but correct the situation and recall the problem so other individuals will not experience this turmoil. research also reflected that the cost to me, the owner would be about $600 or more to fix the problem. right now i am still with the key stuck in the ignition. (more inconvenience of being a chevy customer) i suppose i will expect a check in the mail to cover the expenses this has caused to me (your customer). also a ford dealer has stated they can fix the problem. i see something wrong with that picture. bumper to bumper warranty has expired..... thank you for your attention to this inconvenience. *tr

1) airbag light intermittently has gone on and off for months. i asked dealer about it, they said it would be expensive to diagnose because they would have to trace the wiring harness, removing seat and dashboard. labor would be expensive. i complained to gm on a couple of occasions and was given a case#. i was told car is out of warranty, therefore, it would be my expense to have this diagnosed and fixed. dealer said airbag would not deploy if light is illuminated. this a major safety defect. fall 2013. 2) the rear window defroster stopped working last fall 2013. i had to pay for total repair as it was not covered under warranty. they said it was a wiring issue. impala's have been known to have issue. oct 2013. 3) the gas pedal fell off while i was driving. dealer said they never experienced anything like that before, but would have to replace the entire assembly. not covered under warranty, therefore, entire cost was mine. safety issue. sept 2013 4) the evap vent valve and solenoid had to be replaced. system leak pressurized evap would not hold. apr 2012 other issues have been reported/repaired, however, do not have paperwork at time of this complaint. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. the vehicle was taken to a dealer where the failure was unable to be determined. in addition, while driving at any speed, the traction control warning light flickered and the vehicle failed to start. the failure recurred numerous times. the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the traction control light and the ignition key were replaced. the manufacturer was notified of the failures. the approximate failure mileage was 128,083.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the traction control and abs indicators illuminated. the dealer performed a diagnostic test, which located a failure code at the hub bearing wire and the wiring harness. the contact also stated that the transmission was rebuilt twice and the power steering rack and pinion was also replaced; however, the rack and pinion failure recurred and the power steering fluid was leaking. the manufacturer was made aware of the failures. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 45,000.

When starting the vehicle the dash lights do not immediately respond. adjustment to the light/dimmer control do not make the light come on. this will go on for about 30 seconds and then the dash lights will suddenly come on. it is not safe to drive after dark, you cannot see what gear you are in, your speed is not visible, nor any of the other dash lights. it is random and not reproducible for shop to see. this also occurred with our 2007 chevy impala, progressing to finally no dash lights and resulted in $700 repair for faulty wiring in steering column. should be looked at for root cause and addressed at factory before release. please, very annoying, expensive, and will cause me to not purchase again. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. the contact stated that the air bag warning light was illuminated. also, the contact mentioned that the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign number: 14v355000 (electrical system). however, the remedy failed to repair the ignition switch which was malfunctioning. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 34,000.

Tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet impala. while traveling with the cruise control activated at speeds of 75 mph, the contact noticed that the instrument panel was extremely difficult to read on a very sunny day, even with his sunglasses on. the vehicle was not diagnosed and the contact had noticed the failure since the day of purchase. the failure mileage was 1,000 and the current mileage was 3,000. updated 08/18/10
