2007 chevrolet hhr. consumer writes in regards to vehicle fuel line corrosion and fuel leak issues. *smd the consumer stated she noticed hesitation when starting the vehicle. also, the consumer kept smelling gasoline. the consumer did not believe that a rusted fuel line was a matter of normal wear and tear or owner neglect. the dealer informed the consumer, the rusted fuel line, had to do with the age of the vehicle. gm informed the consumer, the issue was prevalent with her make and model. however, there would not be assisting her with the matter. *jb
Tl* the contact owns a 2007 chevrolet hhr. the contact stated while driving approximately 3 mph into a parking space the vehicle suddenly stalled. after restarting the vehicle it began to function as designed; however, the failure recurred. in both instances the contact was making a right turn and driving at slow speeds. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the fuel pump was faulty. the fuel pump was replaced but the defect was not remedied. the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure mileage was 97,000.

Proceeding at normal speed on hwy 14. the check engine light illuminated followed by an illumination of the traction control light. there was a loud pop sound emanating from the front the vehicle. at this point the engine stopped running and i pulled to the side of the road. the vehicle was already on fire by the time i reached the side of the freeway. by the time i was able to exit the vehicle the engine compartment was fully involved in fire and within a matter of two or three minutes the remainder of the vehicle was engulfed in flames. i did notice other hhrs have been on fire as shown on the internet and the adjuster stated hhr fires are common. i barely made it out of the car. *tr
While working on my car and cleaning i discovered i am driving a bomb. the battery is located in the spare tire compartment directly over the gas tank a rear end collision would set off an immediate fire or exlplosion from an electrical short, spark, or battery explosion, should the gas tank or any connections to be broken. *tr
